A little history about HAPO
We are often asked what "HAPO" stands for. HAPO is an acronym for Hanford Atomic Products Operations. HAPO was formed by a group of non-exempt workers at the Hanford nuclear site in 1953 to provide a place to save and borrow money.
Our first office was located in Kadlec Hospital. When we opened our doors for business, it was with one employee and were only open on Saturday's from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We remained at the Kadlec until 1956.
Today, HAPO continues to prosper and provide financial services to our 170,000 members within Washington State and Umatilla, Morrow, Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Gilliam, Hood River, Multnomah, Sherman, Wasco, and Washington Counties in the state of Oregon.

After I l used their atm I started to get charges on my card l. Their is a skimmer in their atm. Don't use now I have to get a new card😭🙏

If you are looking for a new bank or credit union. I would recommend you look somewhere else. Their ATM machines are constantly down and make it very inconvenient to deal with. In my opinion they really need to upgrade their systems bit they use the same old outdated machines for 10+ years. I wish I wasn't so dependent on their credit union for my everyday transactions. I've now made small steps to transition to other options in tricities area
12/13/23 update:
Machines still don't work. Just drive down the street and use NUMERICA CREDIT UNION'S machines. Thank God for their machines, they work 100% of the time.

I like this bank. The information is straight forward and any questions I have had are either answered or they find someone who can answer. Each teller has their own unique style of customer service instead of seeming fake and programmed like a computer which I personally find refreshing. I think it's important for anyone banking here to understand these are people with real life struggles and emotions not robots programmed to do only one specific task a specific way. The water bottles are free and super cute!!!

Everything was going fine until our vehicle was involved in a wreck. The vehicle was totaled and once dealing with the headache of car insurance, the loan went to gap. No big deal until we closed in on the 30 days past payment date and Hapo (who sold us the gap insurance) wanted another payment to be made. We already used the skip-a-payment but they were gonna report it to our credit as 30 days late. We had to go into Hapo, figure out what was going on, call the gap company, call the car insurance company to get them to send the info that the Gap company needed. THEN we had to wait for payment to hapo, which didn t happen until 5pm! This experience was super stressful! Beyond annoying to have to babysit 3 different companies! After this experience, I m looking at banking elsewhere. Which is disappointing after being a customer for over 15 years!

The original loan went through with no wrinkles, and HAPO administered it professionally and managed it to our complete satisfaction for the life of the loan.

I ve had nothing but issues at this bank. Even though we have been with Hapo two years, this branch ( only this branch) wants to put a hold on deposits, even after checking acct to verify other checks from same person has been deposited. I would recommend another bank besides this one.

Don t use the ATM less you want your card held and it prints a receipt claiming it s stolen and no one from hapo can retrieve the card. Teller said it happens a lot you would think they would fix the problem..

This just happened today. Didnt realize this location is now closing at 1pm, no big deal, we pulled in the drive thru around 12:55. The lady that helped us told us they have to call Gesa to verify our cashiers check and Gesa was closed and to come back or it gets a 7 day hold. We took her word for it and left. But later found out Gesa contact center opens until 5. And weve never had an issue with our account so not sure why she wanted to put a cashiers check on hold for that long. Even the check itself said 1-5 business days max. We understand its a 3 day weekend and its closing time but to shoo people away because you didnt feel like doing your job is just poor customer service.

Christian @ the Kennewick branch is an amazing employee. He was so helpful with all of my problems and very excellent repore. Its not often you get treated with such professional grace. Kudos to him and to HAPO for hiring such great employees.

Teller didnt believe me when I said I was vaccinated. What did she want, for me to show her my card? Do these people not respect privacy anymore? It is a HIPAA violation to ask about private medical records. Very rude and cold with me after I told her a second time that I was vaccinated, she even suggested that I wait for another teller. Again that is discrimination under the HIPAA.

If u need to cash a ssi and have a payee they wont even help u cause they dont understand what a payee is for so thats y I gave them that rating now if they would listen to the customer cause anyone who has a payee and it on the check the payee can cash it that what a payee is on there for

Very dissappointed that all branches are closed by 2:00pm on New Years Eve with no post to the website on Google or on my phone app. New Years Eve on a Thursday is NOT a bank holiday.

I m not sure what the point of making an appointment is, if they are never on time. I m sure if I was late they would cancel my appointment. So unprofessional for a bank not to know how to be on time with their members. If it wasn t for us they wouldn t have a job. So disappointed.

Horrible customer service, they made changes to my account after I had specifically informed them not too, they are only about the money...worst bank ever.... I wish I had the name of the specialist who made these changes out of spite. This is not the type of people I want in control of my money anymore!

I called and asked if my account could be deposited into for a week and a half before they finally told me my account was frozen due to inactivity. I needed to figure this out and could have lost my job, please make it a point to go over all of the account so that way your customers dont feel stupid wondering whats going on. I talked to 5 different people over the phone before 1 could apologize and tell its been fixed.

Horrible and rude tellers that dont know how to give customer service. I will never do business with them ever again and I hope that they train their tellers on how to treat members. Numerica and Gesa are amazing and know how to treat their members and non members. Check them out instead and avoid HAPO at all costs.

I usually have a great experience at EVERY Hapo. But this morning I went through the drive thru to cash my check, I was the ONLY car in all lanes and still waited almost 10 minutes for a hello, as the two ladies inside were just chit chatting. Once talked to I had asked for a certain amount in smaller bills to be easier to break up for bills. Counting my money while leaving I had came across the fact I didnt get the amount I asked, promptly turned around and went back to the window to get another 100 broken into smaller bills. At that point the other lady was helping me and didnt even bother telling me to have a great day after fixing her co-workers mistake. Definitely disappointed in their customer service and how they handled this transaction.

There alright but there pretty gay dude. They take 3 days off for every little holiday. I bet they even take flag day off. Its not like there job is hard but yet working more than 10 hours a week is to much for them.

Like any bank heartless. Was homeless three months so all my money went to moving costs all my bank fees were the cost of the payments not a single one waived. Well I have a house again but no mercy from these guys.

I really want to take the time to say how truly happy I have been with HAPO. Moving out of the state I still bank with HAPO because of the reliability, attention to detail, and care this bank provides to its clients. Anytime I have had issues, every teller I speak to is there to help me and make sure everything is right again. Not once have I been on the phone with a teller who didnt sound like they wanted to be there. I recently had fraudulent charges made on my account and they were able to start the process of getting my funds back into my account the day of. Hanna, the teller who was helping me, was amazing. She hopped on the phone with the Fraud Department and got the ball rolling immediately, she kept updated with their process throughout the day and was very reassuring about the whole situation. I just cant say enough how pleased I am with HAPO and the staff. Thank you so much.

Today at 9:30 i experienced bad service i like your bank but your workers need to learn more they didnt change my check just cause i hadnt work for that company before i guess and all the other times you guys changed my checks they told me it was gunna take seven days for me to get my money

The credit union is a great place to have a bank account and thats just one of many branches in Tri-Cities which is convenient. Customer services is absolutely fantastic.

only place to get a home loan! they dont sell your loan to a dirtbag lender like ditech who charges you to pay them! now charging customers to take in change though...which is beyond lame!

I have been a Hapo Member since 2008 and have always had an excellent experience with them. Their staff is always eager to help me with my banking needs and they are always friendly. I have had several car loans through Hapo and they always have the lowest interest rates. I would recommend Hapo to anyone who is looking for a credit union that cares about its members and the community.
