While everything from the start seemed great, after finally closing on our home we have had nothing but issues. We went with Thompson Kane as a local mortgage lender in hopes of having more hands on and helpful experience for our first time purchasing a home. Prior to our first mortgage payment being due, Thompson Kane sold our loan to a larger lender company. Our only communication regarding this was a single email stating it was being sold. We were left stumped and had to reach out to understand what that meant, especially considering we hadn't made a payment yet.

We were simply referenced back to the initial missed email, and told we needed to work with this new mortgage lender from here on out. I now understand this is a very common practice, but at the time I was left feeling confused with a lost sense of trust. To further exacerbate that feeling, the mortgage lender they sold to had a major data breach two weeks later. While this is of no fault of Thompson Kane, it's truly unfortunate that this sale has now completely compromised our personal information, including our social security card numbers. We have now had endless letters and calls due to this serious data breach. Thompson Kane never reached out about this revelation, so we have been left navigating this event in a frenzy with this new massive lender.

Lastly, with this sale of the mortgage, we being naive first time homeowners assumed all the correct information would have been transferred over. Once again, we were met with a letter in the mail that our new lender would be purchasing home owners insurance on our behalf because they had no record of any insurance we had purchased. We were again met with confusion and panic, as we just purchased insurance and had everything squared away until the new lender purchased it.

While I know many of these issues were not at a direct fault of Thompson Kane, our communications with them through this beyond challenging transition as our local lender has been non existent. We might as well have went through one of the large lenders to begin with in order to avoid all of this chaos and panic as first time homeowners.

So, between the sale of our mortgage before our first payment, to a massive data breach of the purchasing company, to inaccurate information being transferred, I don't think I would recommend Thompson Kane as a mortgage lender.

Thompson Kane has been amazing to work with. When we were looking to get preapproved for a certain amount to buy our first home, we originally went with my bank. However, they tried to change the conditions of our loan and almost made us lose the house. Our realtor recommended Thompson and Kane and said that he also used them for his personal loan with his family home. We communicated with them and they gave us a great deal and closing. We are VERY happy with our experience with them and look forward to paying off our 30 year loan in 30 years!

A year later we are finally able to recast our mortgage through the mortgage company that our loan was sold to. We had to prove a year of payments before we are elligible to recast.

Once Wes gets paid there was no follow up. I have bought multiple homes in my lifetime, but I have never had a poorer home buying experience than I did with Thompson and Kane.

I used this company through the advice of our realtor. We bought a home before selling our current. They did a heloc on my property and then put us in a balloon loan situation to do this. Ok fine. I was confused but the person we worked with, Wes, always called us and made it sound fine. Nothing was in writing. He promised we would refi fast. Then the day of our closing he changed the terms of our balloon loan (can t even tell you what changed) and honestly at that point as a buyer we cannot do anything about it. We felt stuck in this situation we were sales pitched. When we sold our home and it was time for us to refi, Wes was unresponsive. Eventually he replied and said he had been ill. People get sick-that s fine- but he never gave us to anyone new to work with to get us started. Then what started happening is things started to conflict with what we were told over the phone. When I d become frustrated and ask for clear explanations I would be told we had to talk it through over the phone. When I refused this, then I would work with another individual, Colin. Colin was responsive in email and I appreciate that. But when I wanted explanations of fees etc I was told to work with Wes who would not clearly answer me. I ended up refinancing with Fairway Independent and it was a polar opposite experience . If you don t understand mortgages and want to work with someone who has your best interests in mind and clearly reply to you, work with Fairway and do not contact Thompson Kane.

My family decided early in 2023 to relocate and at the time, the real estate market was virtually non-existent with inventory. Once we found a real estate agency to partner with for listing our current home, they introduced to Wes and his team as a lender for our new home. We put the cart before the horse in that our offer to purchase a new home was before our existing home was listed. This created crazy time frames for work to be done by all parties involved. (From offer to purchase new home, listing current home, accepting offers on current home, was about 3 weeks.) The lack of inventory in the market meant that we had to be ready to act quickly when the right house came along. Wes team had the creative ingenuity, tools and resources that allowed us to act with the urgency needed to present an offer that stood out amongst the others. Ultimately, we believe that the offer stood out with strength and creditability which led to the seller accepting our offer. Wes and his team worked weekends, answered text messages at all hours and delivered the result they promised - on time. My family is beyond grateful for Wes and his team for all the effort that went into this project.

I recently had a negative experience with Wes Kane as a mortgage broker. When I first tried to contact Wes Kane for a preapproval, I had trouble getting a response after filling out an application online. However, after persistently trying, I finally got him on the phone. He apologized for the delayed response and assured me that he would be much more responsive going forward and do everything in his power to win my business. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and, after I found a property and had my offer accepted, I reached out to Wes to get an estimate. He initially responded with a one-sentence quote. I followed up asking for a loan estimate to compare with other lenders, but I never heard back from him. I cannot recommend Wes Kane as a mortgage broker based on my experience because of the nonresponsiveness initially when I reached out, and later when I had an accepted offer. In contrast, all of the other lenders that I asked for loan estimates from responded with full estimates in a day. I would advise anyone considering working with him to look elsewhere or to be prepared to follow up multiple times for a response. EDIT: The response from the owner below exemplifies the red flags with this company. No taking responsibility, no acknowledgement of the poor service, just excuses, and poor ones at that. If Wes Kane had an issue with an emergency or tech failure, I would understand had he contacted me. But, I never got a response from him at all - he completely ghosted me and its been a month.

We shopped around extensively to get the best VA mortgage deal. Our realtor strongly recommended Patrick at Thompson Kane, and we were surprised that he was able to match the best offer which came from a nationally known lender. The real test came when there were some unexpected requirements on the day before closing, and Patrick and team were able to pull it all together at the last minute and saved our closing. I doubt the out-of-state guys would have been able to do that. We were delighted, and would recommend them to anyone.

If I could give Thompson Kane a 0, I would. When we first started shopping for mortgages in late February, we spoke to Jim Cortese at Thompson Kane and he assured us that he was locking us in at a rate under 4%, which at the time, we were excited about, as the mortgage rates were starting to climb. He informed me that he would be in touch when he needed us to submit paperwork. I followed up with him every 10 days or so to check in and make sure that he did not need anything and that we were locked in. He assured me that everything was good. In late April/early May, our file was turned over to another loan officer who could not honor the interest rate that was promised to us by Jim. We informed that he we were shopping around and that we would still consider Thompson Kane, based on what they could offer us. He requested that we sign certain documents to pull our credit and submit paperwork. I signed the requested documents after I was assured that the paperwork would not lock us in with Thompson Kane. In June, after not much communication with them the weeks before, I was informed that an appraisal was completed on our house. I was livid, as they did not ask for permission and the house was not even complete. I told Thompson Kane that I Would not be moving forward with them. I also did not receive an invoice for the appraisal. Fast forward to September when I saw that Thompson Kane charged me $750 for the appraisal. I have attempted to follow up. The loan officer that I worked with after Jim is no longer there and I tried unsuccessfully to call and email other people at the firm to help. Finally, the branch manager responded with an email that basically said oh well, you signed. DO NOT USE THOMPSON KANE! They will give you false promises, bad communication, and then screw you at the end.

Having been fortunate in our earlier life, my wife and I expected to breeze through any qualifying features of obtaining an FHA loan. While we were focused on demonstrating the sufficiency of assets to easily by-pass the nettlesome details of the Federal process, the Thompson Kane folks were stuck with presenting those details satisfactorily to a singular and strict adherence to the minutia dictated by the protections of the FHA protocols. I am afraid my attitude toward some of what I considered the less useful features of the requirements provided a number of opportunities for frustration to all concerned. Yet, the folks at Thompson Kane worked steadfastly walking the unsteady line between my expectations and the formal requirements of the Fed. At no time did they give up on trying to make things work better for our situation, and quite effectively secured a final arrangement most satisfactory to our new home purchase. Nicely done! Honestly I can t say enough good things about our experience with Patrick from Thompson Kane. We had originally gone with another lender who was slow to respond and not knowledgeable about VA loans. We were out of state and our situation was very short fused. We needed fast communication and answers. I am so thankful that we reached out to Patrick. He was there for us throughout the entire process. Not only was he knowledgeable about the type of loan we were using, but he was answering questions for us within minutes, at all times of the day. I had returned to this firm after their amazing assistance with the purchase of my 2nd home five and a half years ago. I didnt think it was feasible, but they were beyond measure F-I-N-A-N-I-M-A-L in assisting me through every step of this home purchase as well. Our loans officer was Patrick Averill. He make our loans processing so easy. We have two mortgage with Wells Fargo and every time we went with them, it was so painful to go through the process. It always take at least two months to close on our homes. We got a recommendation from our realtor. He recommended Patrick Averill to us. Patrick work with us and he give us the best rate out there. We close our third home within a month. I will work with Patrick again.

The original offered interest was very low compared to the market. Interest increased prior to registration by almost about 0.5%; however, Mr. Kane kept his promise with the interest rate. I had a phenomenal experience working with Thompson Kane. As a first time buyer, I came to the table with little knowledge on the home-buying process and an abundance of worry. It was a godsend working with Wes and Connor. They did an amazing job walking me through the homebuying process, what to expect, deadlines, and maintained constant communication so that I always felt at ease. (I could reach out to either one of them and they would respond personally and promptly!) They were always patient and thorough when answering any questions that I was unclear on. The application process was simple, sending and signing documents was a breeze when using their online platform, and all deadlines were completed on time without road bumps. They were able to get me an interest rate that was much lower than expected along with getting a lower monthly payment :) They also referred me to an awesome realtor (Patti) that conducted business in the same personable fashion. 5 out of 5 stars and I would absolutely recommend.

Would not recommend. Wes was difficult to get ahold of during the whole process and the appraisal happened right before closing, and since the appraisal wasnt what was expected it made reno financing options he recommended not available - but we were only told after closing.

Because they made this whole process so confusing we had to help our daughter (first time home buyer) with all of their requests. Weve bought several rental houses so I know how the process goes.. not like this!! If you want to explain everything several times to the same person I recommend this company. If you want to send, resend and and resend again, requested documents several times over and over, I recommend this company.. What a joke!

I regret going through Thompson and Kane to get my home mortgage loan. My loan officer was horrible and lied to me about my closing date, causing me to move across the country too soon and have no place to live for a weekend. Then they sold and resold and resold and resold my loan. 4 times in 6 months. Completely ridiculous. And the companies that they are selling my loan to sound really suspect. Planet Home Lending? Really? T and K is SUPER SKETCHY. Do not do business with them.

I was recommended to go to Patrick for a preapproval by a mutual friend. I had gotten other preapprovals before, and while the people I worked with were nice and patient, Patrick was on a much higher level. Patrick encouraged me to meet in-person at the office, despite not being able to until after normal business hours. So, not only was he staying past business hours as a professional courtesy, but he exhibited unlimited patience and had an air of calming professionalism. Patrick answered any and all questions I had about the buying process and beyond, helping me go from nervous and timid to confident in the choice to buy a home. Any time I had questions after meeting, his responses were quick and efficient. He would even go out of his way to follow-up and see if I had any questions or concerns, too. Hes also very personable. We also chatted about various unrelated topics; I was talking to another person, not some indifferent businessman. So, post-closing, I can say I would 100% recommend Patrick to friends, family, and strangers alike. I look forward to talking to Patrick in the future and it makes me feel a lot more comfortable having someone like him around. All in all, Patrick cares and it really shows.

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Patrick from Thompson Kane & Company while in the process of buying a very unique home. The home was being used a commercial business at the time of our purchase, although was originally built in the 1920s as a single family home. Securing a mortgage on this home was a challenging process - we were turned away by our original lender as they were not able to offer flexibility while we waited for the next zoning hearing by the city to allow our home to be reverted back to single-family use. Honestly, I am thrilled that we hit that roadblock looking back because we may not have met Patrick or secured our loan through Thompson Kane otherwise. From the zoning changes to the property comps in the appraisal, navigating all the barriers to entry on this property required a special skillset, an impressive attention to detail, and overall dedication that we were not able to find with anyone other than Patrick. He truly served as our champion throughout the home buying process. He answered all our panicked calls when we discovered new challenges, even well after-hours in some instances; went above an beyond by holding several long conversations with our seller and appraiser to develop a strategy to ensure the house would be considered a single-family home; and he even held several discussions with the Director of Planning & Development for the City to find us the right zoning amendment to fit the future city plan and our intentions for the home. We are first-time homebuyers, but we are not naive enough to assume this level of support is ordinary - Patrick routinely went beyond the call of duty, and we deeply appreciate all the help he provided us in this process. I needed to refi my Colorado mountain home and found Todd Rubick with Thompson and Kane. Todd went out of his way to make sure I had the right services and product to best suite my needs. I was able to have the cash to repaint and do several other needed repairs. Thompson and Kane supported me through the whole process. Their on line services and direct human contact balance in support, allowed me to do things on my own time. I have been very pleased with my choice to refi with them.

Company could not provide details of mortgage until two days before closing, and when we did get details they were wrong. Different closing amounts were given to buyer and title company. Staff could not include both buyers on communication even though my fiance was supposed to be the primary point of contact they constantly contacted me. We will not be working with them again in the future for all of the frustration and stress of working with them.
