We re disappointed with Academy. We used them on referral from a friend that worked there, who has since left. Our disappointment is in the advise Academy provided. Their inaccurate, ultimately untimely, advise regarding refinancing options has cost us incalculable amounts of money and when discovered was only recognized with a halfhearted apology. The person that gave the incorrect advise is now laid off. I m giving three stars because I recognize that they helped us get our first home but we feel abandoned since signing with them. I would not recommend to anyone at this time. Edit: Academy has since sold our loan to PHH and their service is absolutely ridiculous. For Academy to sell the loan to a company like PHH, who has one star reviews across the board nationwide, and subject us to a company with that service record really shows me what Academy thinks about their customers. What a shame.

Our initial service was wonderful and Chris is super friendly. However, we did have a lot of issues with Academys service once we actually went into contract, which honestly is when we needed them most. Academy offered us a wonderful rate on our mortgage and we are so appreciative of that. But buying a home is a super stressful process under the best of circumstance and you want a team who is communicative and willing to advise you at every stage. Academy left out crucial information about closing and we almost were not able to close on time because of their miscommunications. If this is not the first house you have purchased, Academy might be a great option and give you a great rate. If you are a first-time house buyer, I would look elsewhere.

Home buying can be a very stressful experience but Chris was there for any and all the questions. He even put up with my repetitive questions (oops... Sorry Chris, Im little forgetful). His call to the selling agent inspired confidence in the sellers to make the sale to me. Then his team, led by Katie Deschenes, helped me work through the process of documentation. There was even a nice little status update tracking email at every step of the process, and a free service to get utilities set up once the sale was pending.
