We heard about Westwood Mortgage through a family friend and boy are we glad we went with them. This was our first experience buying a home and Tom and his team made it so smooth. We worked with Tom as our lender and even though he is the CEO he was never too busy to answer our questions or make sure someone did. Tom and his team were absolutely fantastic. Throughout the process Tom spent several hours on the phone explaining everything in detail as well as any alternate options that were available. Unlike my last home purchase with a larger bank, the team at Westwood Mortgage had all the documentation done a week ahead of our closing date. I worked with Drew from November 21 - April 22 (when I closed on my property). Drew was able to get me pre-approved two+ years before I thought with be possible with my situation. I used a VA loan which can be a bit trickier to navigate but Drew clearly understood the process well and was an invaluable buffer between me as I looked for homes and the beaurocracy/stacks of paperwork the VA required. He simplified every step. I also appreciated that Drew provided insights based on his professional and personal experiences into the properties I was looking at and my situation to advise me in the best direction. Above and beyond what I would have expected from a mortgage broker! If you want to breeze through this process and avoid the headache during the already stressful time drew and the team at Westwood Mortgage are who you are looking for!

I couldnt recommend Patrick Dunn (and Ashley Roe-Hartman on his team) more! Ive worked with Patrick twice now - one was a mortgage refinance and most recently he helped me secure a home loan. This was a particularly tricky loan (a very large amount) and Patrick was unbelievably communicative throughout the entire process. While I was nervous about how underwriting was going with the banks, I never doubted Patricks commitment and desire to see this through for me. He treated my earnest money as his own :). You wont be disappointed with the level of service you will receive from Patrick and his team!

Erika Nelson at Westwood Mortgage helped us secure financing at an incredible speed when purchasing a home. We had a tight deadline for closing and found a better rate through Westwood after we had started the process with another company. Both our real estate agent and the sellers agent were staunchly against switching lenders after the original company had already completed the appraisal (stating getting another appraisal could jeopardize the closing date since transferring the existing one had lots of red tape involved). However, Erika was able to swiftly move us through the process at lightning speed which the realtors did not anticipate. Erika was extremely communicative, friendly, and willing to address any concerns of all parties involved whenever they arose resulting in a successful closing (that was still ahead of time). I highly recommend working with Erika and Westwood Mortgage!

Kevin was so great to work with, this is the second time we have been able to work with him. He is super patient, and we really feel like he was trying to get us the best rates. Unfortunately due to a number of things mostly the massive amounts of documents requested since one of us is a business owner, and the time it took to do a repair necessary, the pre approved rate went up when we were finally ready to close. We were ready to sign, but he took one last shot to see if he could lower our rate again, it really made me feel secure that we made the right choice with Kevin and Westwood Mortgage. My only complaint right now is that due to covid we had to do all of our signing in a public lobby, there was no table just an end table and the escrow people had to stand. It would have been really nice to have a room or something a little more private. I would absolutely recommend the company and hopefully post covid the signing process issue will be resolved

This time I worked with Drew Daley and his advice, guidance and financial ideas made things easy. Westwood Mortgage was great, I worked with Pat Dunn and will definitely do so again when ever I look to purchase again or refinance. This was my first home buying experience and he made it as easy as possible. He answered all my questions (and there were a lot) in a way I understood and always responded within a day, if not an hour. He was always happy to further discuss any questions I had and walk me through the process. There was a hiccup on the escrow end on our move in day and he helped get it straightened out immediately and called to reassure us everything would be handled ASAP, which we appreciated. We bought our first home with Steve 10 years ago and had a great experience. He & Westwood Mortgage have always stayed in contact and been available. So when it was time to refinance, naturally we called them. We worked with Steve s son, Drew and it was nothing but wonderful. We know a lot of people who ve refinanced and it s always sounded confusing, mysterious and daunting. Drew is not only incredibly knowledgeable, he is also excellent at explaining things. I learned more than I ever thought I would about a refi. He took so much time to discuss things and explore our options not just the what but the why and the how . He, and everyone at Westwood, were very available & attentive. Very cool response time on emails & texts. Drew was also great at keeping us updated and talking us through the timeline & next steps. I do think he facilitated getting us the best rate, and was suuuuper helpful at weighing in when choices needed to be made. The process was very Covid friendly & their system of signing documents is super convenient. To be honest, I m not sure why you wouldn t go to Westwood Mortgage. All the staff were friendly & helpful, but Drew truly is a heck of a guy. Sometimes you can be smart or good at the thing you do, but not so much with the people part. Drew is both smart & good at the people part. Frankly I m going to kind of miss talking to him. If you care about customer service & personal relationships, these are your folks. Important always, but especially when dealing with unfathomable amounts of money. Drew was like a collaborator in the process, it s a small company with real people, and they re very good at their business. If you need mortgage jazz, and you want a great experience with the best mortgage & the best rates, and a relationship with you can come back to forever, I can t recommend them enough. Worked with Tom and his team on a new construction mortgage that closed this fall. They were great to work with. I was able to do a full pre-qual online, which made the closing process itself much quicker and easier. They explained what they needed and why. And when I was confused by something in the process, Tom took my phone calls to explain it in a way I could understand. He also extended my rate lock after my closing date slipped. They treated me like a friend rather than a customer.

Went to these guys (Tom) for a second opinion based on a friends recommendation, and they helped me refi for a fraction of the cost of the other lender, and 0.75% better interest rate. Drew Daley was a great help during our journey of finding a home. It took us 6 months and during this time Drew was always available and timely gave us updated pre-approval whenever we needed to put in an offer. During the closing process, Drews team was so easy to work with and the entire process felt so painless. His team also was able to meet a very tight turn around time as we wanted to accelerate the closing date. During rate locking process, Drew also worked hard to find us the best rate with rebate instead of rushing us into locking in something that was not in our best interest. To me personally, communication is very important and Drew was always responsive to my questions/concerns. Overall, there was no hidden fees or any surprises with the final settlement compared to original estimate. Highly recommend.

My husband and I were first-time home-buyers and had a lot of questions throughout the process, and Tom always took the time to explain things in a way that was easy for us to understand. As someone who is self-employed, our finances were a little more complicated when completing the mortgage application, and Westwood mortgage really helped along the way, making sure that we understood all the documents needed. We had attempted to refinance with a large online company and they were unable to complete a refinance on our home. We contacted Brett Bly and he was able to work with us to successfully refinance our home, lowering our payment and pulling cash out for a project. Update 12/2017: We worked with Brett again on the purchase of a new home and again the process was fast and smooth. Plan to continue working with Westwood for any future mortgage needs.

We cant say enough good things about Tom Schwab and his team at Westwood Mortgage. We came to Tom when we found out the lease on the house we were renting was not going to be renewed. We have a short-sale in our history and our credit was not stellar, and with rent and home prices on the rise we were worried about what our future held. Tom set our worries at ease right away and let us know that home ownership would be a possibility for us. He started by combing through our credit report and making suggestions that would help raise our scores which worked! He then made wise predictions on when to lock in our rate and were very pleased with the rate we got. Tom is also a stand up guy, half way through closing one of our children got very sick and we ended up at Seattle Childrens Hospital. Even though he was sick himself, he offered to help out if we needed anything. While we were focused on getting our daughter well again Tom and his team helped us stay on track with deadlines. In the end we closed a week early!!

Mortgage refinancing, much like a do-over, is supposed be easier and familiar. Unfortunately for us, there were several instances where we felt the process was more difficult than our first mortgage. Pros: * Application: Within a few hours of my spouse being on the phone, providing our social security number, we had a quote and were asked to review the documentation within three days. * Support: On several occasions,we reached out to Brett (Westwood Mortgage) to clarify any issues associated with errors or omissions in our paperwork. Each time he made himself available. Also, Brett was happy to assist us with a real-time review of rates, while discussing rebates which could go towards closing costs and the monthly mortgage payments. In fact, we saved on inspection fees, as one of the institutions we were aligning with didnt require it. * Convenience: If the idea of paper laying around your home or office worries you, then your concerns will be misplaced against Westwood Mortgage. Rather, Westwood uses online forms, with support for digital signature, which can be accessed on any browser or on any device (including smartphones). Additionally, Westwood Mortgage has their own escrow company, which will assist you with the final paperwork, prior to acquiring your new mortgage. Cons: * Errors: While we appreciated the expediency to which Westwood Mortgage took to get our application paperwork processed, we noticed several errors (including years of mortgage, work history, etc.), which never got corrected. On one occasion, having noticed my work history was incorrect, on both the online form and paper form, I corrected (and initialized) the information on the paper document. Unfortunately, upon filling out the final paperwork, I noticed those errors were never corrected (despite being assured several times). * Convenience: During the application process we rarely received any scheduled notices that our paperwork was pending. Instead we were often emailed notices (with an included URL) of paperwork requiring our signature. Often the language in the email included phrases like It is important that you find, open, and sign this document TODAY, which can be intimidating when initiating your first refinance. In conclusion, we will not be seeking out Westwood Mortgage for future refinancing needs. They never corrected several key mistakes, despite having been issued corrections. It might seem petty, but when youve fulfilled your legal responsibility to provide accurate information, prior to signature, they should do the same.

My husband and I recently bought our first home. It was an exhausting process lasting 8 months. Joe was amazing the whole time; getting quotes to us quickly so we could make informed bid decisions, answering every question we had, and being optimistic in our search even we werent. When we finally found and won our house (and yes, I do mean won) he found us the best offer and got us to closing in 2 1/2 weeks. Westwood did a great job taking care of us! We came to them with a very short timeline for our mortgage and Brett Bly was not afraid to take it on! Brett got everything done and taken care of and we closed on time! Communication was very clear and concise and Brett was able to answer all of my many questions very adeptly. My only complaint was that getting ahold of Brett (via phone, text, or email) was always very hit and miss, and often delayed by several hours, but, as I said, once we got connected, he proved that he knew exactly what he was doing.

I dont often do reviews of people I do business with, but If you need a mortage, you cant do better than Westwood. Ive done two refinances with them, most recently at the end of 2014. Patrick Dunn handled my application and got me a new loan that dropped my interest rate an entire point. This optimal interest rate was to expire at the end of the year, and Patrick did everything he could to secure this rate as the deadline approached for the rate locks expiration. I mean, he did EVERYTHING, and then some! And this was during the holidays, when business can often easily slow down. I cant say enough good things about Patrick and Westwood.

I just bought my first home in Lake Stevens and was recommended Westwood Mortgage by the seller of the home. I worked with Eric Hanson and he was fantastic... very easy to talk to, very attentive and incredibly accessible. He answered all of my questions without making me feel stupid and as a new buyer, I had many. I just completed my third transaction with Shelle Harmon at Westwood Mortgage. Thats right, I liked her enough after the first two transactions to come back to her for a third time. Shelle is always so happy and positive, you cant help but have a good experience with her. I personally find the home lending process tedious and exhausting, but Shelle is so helpful and supportive the whole thing seemed to be over in a flash. I e-mailed Shelle on a whim the night before Thanksgiving, and she had our loan approved and we were ready to close before Christmas!

My husband and I would sincerely like to thank Tom Schwab of Westwood Mortgage for sticking with us through the long drawn out ordeal we went through, all the while being kind and considerate, and in the end, going way beyond our expectations in making us feel valued and appreciated customers. This is our story.....We bought our home in Gig Harbor at the top of the market in 2006 and have been discouraged from trying to refinance several times over the last few years, as our house was considered underwater. So weve been stuck with a 6% interest rate even though rates have dropped considerably over the last few years. My husband and I have a very complex financial portfolio with many rentals, residential and commercial properties, leases, assets and mortgages. Also, compounding the paper work and adding another layer of complexity is the fact that we have been in business for ourselves for over 40 years. My husband was a Marine Reservist many years ago and weve never considered trying to use any benefits to help us until now. We decided to try. So last March I got a rush of high pressure sales calls from guys all over the country, wanting to help me refinance because my husband entered my name and phone (without me knowing) into an online ad about refinancing help. Many seemed sketchy and were beyond pushy!! Most made me feel very uncomfortable. And then when we got into detailing our complicated financial picture and questions about how to try to apply for a VA loan I got no hand holding, no helpful information, no direction because I was just talking to sales people. They didnt know what I needed. Thats when I decided to try to use my membership in Angies List and found Westwood Mortgage. I read their reviews and liked what I read. Granted, it was a 6 month long process because of all the documents I needed to obtain from the government records dept and supply to the VA Loan dept (of course ,I didnt know what I needed or how to get what I didnt know I needed!!) but Tom Schwab was there all the way with me. He did what he could on his end to expedite everything he could and give me information on how to get what I needed. We finally accomplished our goal when we signed our refinance papers at the end of August!! (To his defense as to why it took 6 months, he says he has helped many people get VA loans over the years but not for somebody whos personnel records where prior to the computer age and had to be dug out of files in the dusty dank recesses of some building back in D.C. i.e. they werent accessible online ) Through my many conversations and emails with Tom, I can say I feel he is a very honest, caring, calming person and even though this took a long time and was very stressful on us, he never blew me off like other big banks or big box mortgage companies had. No one was as thorough, took the time to make us feel like he had a personal connection with us, even though we never met him face to face, (Im in Gig Harbor and hes in North Seattle) took the time to answer all of our questions no matter how many I came up with or how many times I asked the same ones ( Im not a finance or math person but want to understand every detail of the documents Im signing). No one kept encouraging me like he did, kept in contact and responded to calls and emails as quickly like he did. I would not hesitate to use Tom Schwab and Westwood Mortgage Inc., Seattle, WA again for other refinances or mortgages and highly recommend him as a reliable, trustworthy, friendly, competent and professional person. After a less than professional experience buying my first house I decided to do a bit more research for my next purchase. I came across Westwood Mortgages and gave them (plus three other places) a call to see how they were. My expectations was for a mortgage company to be responsive, informative, and educational. They met and exceeded all three criteria. At one point during my negotiations my primarily contact had gone on vacation, which everyone deserves. During that time I was serviced by the company owner. He took the time to explain all the details of a deal and various options available. Wonderful for him to take the time to help. Ultimately my primary contact helped closed the deal in a much faster than expected rate, which in this market is a must.

As a first time home buyer, the mortgage application process was as quick and painless as I could have hoped for. My broker, Steve, helped me get a great loan easily. One of the things that I liked most was that he explained at a high level what each document that I was about to sign meant. This enabled me to get through the copious amounts of paperwork quickly while simultaneously educating me about the paperwork and making me feel like I still have a measure of control over the process. I also liked the fact that he helped me find a loan that struck the right balance between interest rate and closing costs. Will definitely be going to them if I need another mortgage again.

I worked with Steve Daley and Tom Schwab for my mortgage and I highly recommend them both! I started out working with Steve. Buying a house can be such a stressful time, Steve was so helpful through the mortgage piece. He is so knowledgeable and responsive, and worked through calculations for me so I really felt confident that I was making the best decision with the type mortgage I chose. The house I purchased was a short sale - a bit more complicated and timelines where fuzzy. Steve had an extended vacation planned and had to turn my mortgage over to Tom. The transition was seamless. My real estate agent made a few mistakes that caused a delay for the appraisal. This could have ultimately delayed the close on the house. Tom went above and beyond to find a new appraiser and ensure that everything was completed timely so we didnt miss our close deadline. I received great service and outstanding attention from both Steve and Tom. I wish everything in my home purchase had gone as smoothly as working with them.

The BEST Mortgage company I have ever worked with (I have worked with 4 other big companies). We have worked with Westwood Mortgage twice. Our mortgage loan originator was Patrick Dunn. The first time was to take advantage of low interest rates. We were very pleased with Westwood Mortgage all the way through the process. Everyone was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful whenever we had a question. Calls and emails were quickly returned and they worked with our schedules when it came time to drive into Seattle to sign papers. Patrick Dunn made my relocation from Texas as easy as possible. He was proactive in a process where too many are reactive. Patrick was always easy to reach, gave prompt responses to any messages, and owned the entire process. Patrick has a passion for customer service - if there was any point where he was out of pocket, he made sure that the team followed up with me. Weve love Steve at Westwood Mortgage so much weve used him twice and any other houses we buy along the way we will always go back to Steve. He is extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with and willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. He takes the time to explain where you are at in the process and what the next step will be. He makes the loan process easy low stress which is great when you have a busy life. Tom Schwab & the staff at Westwood Mortgage are top notch. They are totally focused on making sure the customer has a great mortgage program that fits their needs, a very low interest rate and that the customer is educated on the mortgage process. Tom has his customers best interests in mind and always works to get the best deal possible. I would recommend everyone to use Westwood Mortgage.

Kevin at Westwood Mortgage has been my go-to for my original mortgage as well as two recent refis. Professional, courteous, well informed and fast. Paperwork handled smoothly. Always good at setting expectations and about explaining the application process and timing. These guys are pros at what they do and I can fully recommend them.

My husband and I worked with George Spano for the mortgage. He was very honest, knowledgeable and helpful person. He was NEVER be pushy then helpful. He was always trying to find the best deal for us and listen to our needs. Whenever, I deal with sale man, I often have straggle with a sale man who want to do quick job to make money. But George was always our side to help us to find the best deal. We were so impressed his work and personality. We really recommend him!!!
