Boerner Firearms is a family-owned-and-operated Firearms shop which opened its doors in November of 1985 and has been serving the Western Washington area for 39 years! We have changed hands a few times over the years, however we are proud to remain family owned.
The BEST Customer Service, period! You feel like family when you're there. Great selection and an ever changing inventory. Not just new product but estate liquidations. Sometimes rare and/or unique items. Very knowledgeable staff. I sometimes stop by to check on the new inventory and it's always a great time, even if I don't purchase anything. I can enjoy a free soda/water, a snack and great conversation! Definitely my FFL of choice.

Bought my first gun here and am happy as a clam. Excellent, friendly service and knowledgeable. I went back and forth, held a variety to get a feel for what I liked, and landed on a Sig. They didn't get annoyed at my indecisiveness and gave me pros and cons as I decided. Couldn't be happier. I'll be back. 😁

As a female shooter it can be difficult to feel comfortable walking into a gun store but this store was awesome. I was looking for a new EDC and Ari helped me out. He was so patient, not pushy, and listened to every piece of feedback and input I had (no matter how simplistic or non-technical those concerns were or were worded) to narrow it down to the perfect pistol for me. The guys at the counter seemed to work well together and offered helpful suggestions to get the job done. They were very knowledgeable and compliant about the ridiculous rules WA has, and were able to explain them clearly to me as an expat Texan. Zero mansplaining the entire time.
I'd highly recommend this place! I liked the friendly and knowledgeable staff, the family owned small business feel, and the refreshments! It was just a great experience all around.

I recently had a very disappointing experience with this FFL. They failed to notify me when my firearm arrived at their business. I waited a week and had to call them myself to confirm its arrival. When I went in to complete the paperwork, it only took a minute or so to check it in, which made the lack of communication even more frustrating.
I filled out the necessary forms and was told to return on June 25 to pick up my firearm. However, when I came back two weeks later, ready to pick up my rifle, 600 rounds of ammo, a steel gong, and potentially start paperwork on a suppressor, they informed me they had messed up the paperwork for the firearm. I had to re-do everything and now have to wait until July 11 to pick it up.
By the time I get my firearm it will have been in their possession for over a month and a half.
To "compensate" for my wasted time and the inconvenience of a 2-hour round trip, they offered me an $11 box of ammo, which felt like an insult. This experience has ensured that I will not be taking my future business to this FFL.
I recommend others take their business elsewhere. This FFL has one primary responsibility when it comes to firearm transfers, and they seem incapable of handling it properly.

I had not a great but an outstanding experience dealing with Boerner purchasing my first ever firearm. I came in originally to check on multiple firearms to see how they felt in my hand per recommendations from companions to see what I would like. I spoke with a few staff members which showed me multiple firearms while noting the positives and negatives of each firearm while giving their personal recommendations. From the staffs recommendations I went to the range and tried out my favorites from the store and landed on one. Afterwards I did my research and even found out that Boerner had the cheapest price compared to ordering one online and bought it from the store. The staff at Boerner made the whole process both informative and easy. I want to thank you all for such a great experience and I know where I will go when I purchase my next firearm.

Sad to say...i was loyal until the end!! I purchased a 1911 and decided that day to buy me a shotgun. The process took 2 weeks too long and decided I wanted a refund. Went in December 5th on Tuesday. The poor guy was talking to me was rudely interrupted by the big guy which was on the phone yelled Its a restocking fee. I shrugged my shoulders like... okay. Thinking it was just a few bucks. No... they said its a $35.00 fee. Petty policy to rip customers off. I never was told before or after i purchased my guns, it was a restocking fee. I notice the sign posted on the one register I didnt buy my gun at. Poor customer service!! Ive purchased all six of my guns from this one location. Sad...they lost a loyal customer forever. Thank God they have more than one location to buy a gun.

Told the gent at the counter that I needed a magazine for my AR-10 built by ArmaLite/Eagle Arms. I mentioned its a non-standard mag. He walked over to a guy with a bushy red beard and they talked for a second. That second guy hollered over to me and said the Magpul LS / SR would fit mine perfectly. I was skeptical and asked if I could bring her my rifle in to confirm fitment. That seemed to be a no-go, so I spent my 23 bucks and said that if it fit Id be back in for a few more. 30 seconds later, I was walking back into the store saying doesnt fit. Red beard same surprised and asked me what make of rifle I had I told him as well and he said oh well that must be a Gen 2 rifle. I said so that means I I can return this magazine? He didnt answer my question but told me to just file the plastic nubs off at the top and it should work just fine. I will not be back.

These guys are incredible. With the impending passing of HB1240 here in WA state, I needed a shop to work with that was going to source some stuff on the soon-to-be no no list quickly. Connell and the rest of the team truly bent over backward to make this happen. They worked hard to have stuff transferred from other dealers out of state with urgency just to make sure I could get it in the shop and go through the background check process as rapidly as possible. Nice work, Boerner Fire Arms. I know that things are going to be tough for your business with all the bad anti-2A legislation getting passed right now, but I truly hope you guys continue to succeed as an FFL / SOT despite that. Ill be here as a loyal customer no matter what.

With the change of law potentially coming down on the residents of the sate of Washington, I like many made purchases to beat the time line also with the anticipation of the law being held up in court. Coming in Monday and after clarifying the purchases I made, the exact style of rifles, I was told they are processing purchases as fast as they can and will notify me. I call today, to be told they sent them back because they werent accepting these style rifles. So what could have been a beat on the clock against an infringement on the 2nd ammendment , instead they did not fight at all to help me. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING SERVICE AND LACK OF COMMUNICATION. And if and when this bill does get struck down. I will be sure to share my experience with the lack of communication and commitment to our 2nd ammendment. Extremely frustrated with this experience and will never give them my business again

Of particular importance until our current state governor, Inside (Washington) successful violates the law abiding citizens of our state by banning SEMI-automatic weapons...Boerners offer FFL transfers for a fair price of $35, without appointment..)

Staff is very helpful and friendly. They also have very reasonable transfer fees for the puget sound area.

Went in for a simple transfer and was told the wrong date to pick up the gun not once but twice. If I did this for a living like they do, I would train my crew on how to count calendar days excluding holidays or make then a cheat sheet for a 10 day waiting period. This was not only inconvenient but turning down OT twice to pick my gun up was very annoying and cost me way more than the transfer fee did. Dealing with the state is one thing but this tops the cake.

I really like these guys and give them business whenever possible. They are a small local shop with a healthy inventory of new and used items. Their prices on arms are on par with any other competitive shop in the area, and they try to keep it that way. Great for transfers. They will do special orders, so no need to drive any further. Did I mention their prices are good? Good. Under the circumstances, with ammo and components being in poor supply, they manage to keep powder in stock. Im in it for the iron, and thats where they come through. Mr. Reid is helpful and friendly, and even though the place is usually busy, I have no complaints at all about the help. I dont walk into this type of shop expecting a fluff job from the staff as some other reviewers seem to, I just hope to talk to someone and line up what I need, and they always take care to do that. Great local shop.
Published at 2 years ago
Even when they are super busy. They still take the time to help you. But they don t call you right away when your gun arrives for release to pick up your firearm, or process for release but that s because they get swamped so it s understandable. So I recommend calling them first to see if it has arrived for processing or cleared.

First, I have purchased a handgun at this shop previously and completed a transfer as well. Both times were good experiences but were a couple years ago. I recently went in looking to buy a rifle only to be told they dont have any of that particular brand, no follow-up questions or general customer service of any kind, just we dont have it. I can understand not having a specific brand but the model I was inquiring about has numerous manufacturers. I had money in my pocket to spend in their shop and due to the lack of any interest in and the dismissive attitude toward the only customer in the store at the time they lost a sale. I try to buy guns, ammo and parts at local shops around the sound but Boerners is one I will no longer visit. In my experience, customer service is key to generate sales and return customers. All it takes is one bad experience and that business is lost for good. Do yourself a favor and dont go out of your way to visit this shop!

Not gonna lie this place had some old Fuds trying to push low quality American AKs and trying to shove the idea of a revolver down my wifes throat. Do your own research before coming here or youll walk out with an overpriced gun.

In the years past, I went in there and saw a younger douche bag walking around behind the counter with an AK strapped to his back and thought that was too much...Now its a mix of older and younger guys (all polite and helpful). Theres a lot of places you can go, but these guys dont leave you feeling condescended to as some others would.

Haven t been there in a while but whenever I go in it s a bad experience. Everything is way overpriced and the staff thinks that they know everything. I can tell that this is the kind of place where they just wait for someone who doesn t know anything about guns to come in so they can load them with false information and overcharge them. If you plan on going in do your research first because these guys will try to take advantage of you. Luckily i knew what I was talking about otherwise I would ve been overcharged.

After a few visits it seemed like a complete 180 flip and they were very interactive with the customers, super helpful and assisted me with anything I had trouble with. Boerners is now my preffered gun shop in the area and I reccomend going here if you have any questions or are looking to buy any ammo/guns.

I tried for two days calling them and having the shop who is shipping the weapon call them and they would say that they either dont know what Im talking about or that they have already sent the fax which never arrived. I understand that talking over the phone leads to misunderstandings but it felt like I was an annoyance to them rather than a customer. I would not try with them again.

Pros: Good deals, polite Cons: I cant shake the feeling that I make them feel uncomfortable which is funny because theyre all armed. I seem like Im just a waste of their time, despite already paying a gun in full and in cash. Tedious paperwork being their stock and trade, theyd forget that I had extra items with my firearm. Going to cost an extra $40 on top of the $80 (both ways, twice; because laws) in fuel, to get a $40 magazine. Bottomline: Given a hassle that I feel is intended/avoidable, and I agree with others on how they treat their friends. Shouldve went online and shipped locally :/

I went in and a bought gun on 11/30/2018, on 12/14/2018 I was told that I didnt pass the background check from a juvenile situation. I have a cwp so I thought I was ok. So I had to take the gun back, I explained the situation to the big boss at Boerner, and he offered me $250 for a gun that I paid $320 for 14 days earlier. I know its not their fault that I could not keep the gun, but they could have done the right thing and issued me a full refund like I asked. They tried to tell me that it cost them money to file the reports. They must think Im stupid and that I dont realize that they are going to reseel the gun for a profit. So they made profit when I bought it and now they will resell it and make more profit, they wouldnt even refund the tax that I paid. Thanks a lot Boerner!!

Great guys at this shop. really personable and helpful. One of my favorite gun shops around. Update 14jul18: Bought a 1911 platform from them. I traded in one of my revolvers for the gun. The floor manager for that day (sorry I cant remember his name) took the time to show me what was in stock and was in my price range. Every firearm I viewed was chosen based off of my preferences, nothing that I didnt want was pushed at me. That being said it is one of the best qualities of the shop. While I was there a few other people were hanging out and the shop was all talking and having good discussions. it was a very home like vibe. I stand by my first sentence, it is one of the best shops around. They care about the customer and everyone there is extremely knowledgeable and has outstanding customer service skills. Thanks All!

They beat the big box stores prices. However watch your self if you want to trade or sell a gun to them, you will loose your shirt!

Store has good pricing but they took my payment in full for a rifle and handgun still havent gotten a call from them about picking them up. Then when i called i recived pretty bsd customer service asking for information I had already told them like they were not listing. Followed by a comment of well its only been 5 days.. Federal law is after 3 days bc is approved by default . As a gun shop they should know this and have called me in to pick up my rifle at the minimum. Cant say if I will return after this process

Pretty disappointed with my experience. The guy I talked to didnt greet me or smile. He seemed bored/annoyed. I asked if they had OC holsters for duty belts and he didnt even know what OC was. Pretty sure all LE officers carry OC on their duty belts so its not some super uncommon item. He stopped me on my way out and showed me a keychain sized OC holder. I said it was too small and I carry a much bigger can. He said, oh, like for bears? Idk if it was because of my age/gender or he was just not very knowledgeable, but he didnt seem to take me seriously at all.

What a great experience! Right when you walk in the door you can tell this is a locally owned place thats been around for a long time, and I love that. Every firearm I looked at the price was right on par, or just below, that of the online retailers (remember when looking online you pay shipping, and tax, and transfer fee $25-$35) Reid was quick to help me as soon as I walked up to the counter. Asked if I knew what I was looking for, I gave him some general ideas and he quickly followed up with an awesome overview of several different firearms that fit what I was looking for. Reid took time to pull each out of the case and walk me through the different features on each model and explained the differences. If you want a local experience, local service, with local people then you need to checkout Boerner! Thanks Reid, and all the guys, for such a fun experience. Bud

Called them to warn them that my uncle who is progressing through the early stages of dementia was trying to purchase a handgun there. They sold it to him anyway. Thanks! Thanks a lot, Boerner! I guess the term liability doesnt mean anything to you but you can bet youll learn it quick if/when he does something stupid with this gun!

I havent bought any firearms from this place, only used them as an FFL when ordering online. I tracked my gun via FedEx and went in the day it arrived at their store. One of the guys seemed annoyed that I hadnt waited for them to call me. So the second time I had something sent to them, I waited for them to call me...for 3 days. They never called so I just went in. The second time I went in there I missed a block on the background check form. This apparently annoyed the guy enough to raise his voice at me. Between the turnaround time on transfers and the attitude I got from some of the employees I think Ill find another place to take my money

This place is great. I first found this site after driving back from Cabela. I stop in as I was completely fedup with the lack of care at Cabelas. When I entered I was met at the door and provided service for the visit. I asked questions, and got excellent answers and insight. I have 23 years of military service, and 10 years Federal Law Enforcement experience with firearms. This place beats 95% of those shops I have worked with in the past. Prices are fair and they are happy to order what you want. So an honest, fair and respectful shop, what else do you want?

The worst part of my experience with them was the lack of eye contact and the weakest handshake Ive ever had. ( the older man) Not to mention giving the lowest offers for quality second hand firearms, not even a 50 percent margin. It was a sad and depressing experience to say the least. Wont be back.

Has a good niche selection of guns as well as new guns. Its kind of weird when the old guys just sit around and take up a lot of the space. Employees are kind of condescending.

Okay. So, very recently I visited their store with family, just to check out their selection. I had experience with this shop in the past, and personally found the staff very poor with customers, ignorant, and rude. The one guy I had issues with in particular, an old chubby guy, in fact scammed my mother into paying $499 for a gun she does not understand, and relied on her ignorance to do so. As I was explaining to her the multitude of reasons for why this was a poor choice, I was actually MADE FUN OF and ridiculed for my cocky, yes, cocky behavior, and was told to stop advising her on her decision because it was her decision. First of all, I do not need to be told to stop advising my own family on what I feel would suit their needs best, and second of all I certainly do not need to be ridiculed by arrogant used car-salesman like staff. Rude, disrespectful, and arrogant staff are the reason I will not be returning here, and I hope you find a better experience than I did. P.S. If the black guy is still working there, seek him first. He is knowledgeable, respectful, and a pleasure to do business with. Unfortunately, for the treatment I received from other staff I cant give this more than one star. Best of luck

The guys running the store can be as bit intense, but they have a good selection on hand. Please do tone it down around kids, though. My three year old didnt really need to be let in on the lesson about hollow point cavitation you were giving another customer...thats more of an 8-12 year old discussion.

Weve visited Boerner Fire Arms several times over the past couple of years to learn about our best options for protecting our farm, livestock, and property. Each time weve gone in, one of the friendly staff has been super helpful with answering questions and narrowing our potential purchases down to the most suitable items for our needs. We have always felt welcome and appreciated as customers, and will continue to shop here for all our firearms needs.

I knew Bill Boerner long ago, and was friends with his family (read: step-kids) I refused to ever shop here because of that.... however I went in on a whim to see if anything had changed, and it had.... this was about 2 weeks ago... I was able to get a decent backup pistol for the price I wanted to pay, not what was on the tag, saved 50$ on the deal while working with one of the older guys that are being complained about here... They went out of their way to ensure I got what I wanted with excellent service..... I was very surprised based on the reviews here.... MAYBE this goes to show that showing them respect gets it in kind, rather than attitude.... I dont know about any of you, but I will be going back in today to buy more stuff.... my review went from a zero star to 3 in a single visit, based on the visit, I am sure my repeat business will only improve my rating of the store. Oh snap, and now I have been in there several times, dealt with many employees and have always gotten the same quality service... review changed again, now 4 stars, will see how it goes, may turn to 5 sooner rather than later... again, you want good service, have some respect

Dealt with John, and was very happy with his customer service. Everyone in the shop was more than happy to answer questions and show you anything you want to see. Prices are competitive, and way better than what you would see at the big box stores. If you like firearms and supporting local businesses, definitely add these folks to your places to consider.

Value: I normally buy ammo online, so I did not check that, but their firearm prices are very reasonable and competitive. Accessories and such, they are about the same price as anywhere else you would go, maybe some things were cheaper here and there. If you want things for the best possible price, obviously you cant really beat the internet but this place is good for picking things up quick when you need them without breaking the bank. Professionalism: Ive read some negative reviews about some of the employees attitudes but I did not experience any bad service at all. Customers and employees were all friendly and sociable. I interacted with Chris the most and he is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, definitely recommend talking to him if you have serious questions. Inventory: For a small place, they seemed to have a decent amount of firearms and accessories (new and used). Property: on the outside it looks a bit shady, but the inside is well-maintained and clean. Overall: I cant really think of anything bad to say about this place. I will be doing business with them again in the future.

Ok I will say this is not the best shop, but it is by far not the worst. Some of their staff is very well informed and helpful. IMO if you want helpful and accurate information talk with the black guy or the chubby younger guy. stay away from the old timers as their opinions seem to have a huge effect on their sales pitch. Yes as others have said their firearm prices are a little on the high side but that is to be expected given their location. Their ammo prices how ever are more than fair. And they have one of the cheapest FFL transfer fees in town. (40$) what could change this from a 3 star establishment to a 5 star? Get rid of the coffee table in the back and the older guys that seem to just hang around the shop and bother both staff and customers with their opinions. Clean up the middle isles, get proper shelving and organize the middle of the store to make sense to new customers. I know where everything I need is but only because I have been shopping there for the better part of 19 years, to new comers the store looks in complete disarray and is very off putting. This I know to be fact as I took someone in to look to make their first firearm purchase and they immediately wanted to leave because the store looked rundown and chaotic which lets be honest it is. I personally love this store for numerous reasons, but it really needs a good polishing.

Called to ask about an FFL transfer on 04-DEC-2014. Guy quoted me $40.00 over the phone. Arrived at their shop on 05-DEC-2014 and the price magically increased to $50.00! Tried to have them email the information and was told that they cant do it electronically and demanded a fax number. I explained that my seller didnt have a fax machine and most people just email the signed FFL no issues. The people helping me were rude and I was treated like I was bothering them not like I was a customer. I am a business owner in a neighboring county (different industry than firearms) and I would be HOT if I caught my employee treating a customer of mine like they did me. I got the vibe that my money was no good there and left. Probably for the better. The thought of trusting them with handling my new gun, for any amount of time...even if they did finally figure out that its almost 2015, fax machines are dieing, and emailed FFLs are no more difficult than sending a fax. Its sad. I liked the small town feel there. Have you ever felt like people are laughing and joking at your expense the moment the door closes behind you? Find that feeling at Boerner Firearms in Gorst - Bremerton.

These guys are really rude. They talk to each other (fellow employees) rather than the customer. The people behind the counter would rather let you wait than get up of their rear to assist you while they sit down and watch until the other guy finishes up and gets to you. Then they quoted me a ridiculously high price. I wont even buy ammo from these guys. Terrible !

These guys ARE GREAT! Been in Kitsap county for over 8 years and I have been treated with total respect at Boerners. Its good to build repore with your customers and qualify them for for theyre needs and wants and come up with something that best fits. These Guys do all of this and more! If you dont know anything about customer service and have never worked retail you might think guys are just sittting around bs ing. They are doing theyre job and doing a great job at it. I buy all my firearms from them and they have always taken great care of me. I would recommend them to everyone over any of the big box stores. Good Job Guys

Recently bought a Sig from them and very happy with it. The only thing Id say was dont try to deal with the young fat kid. He is one you can tell that could give a rip less of you would like and wont even listen. Easily distracted, and will look at you as if your wasting his time. I was trying to tell him what I was looking for and in the middle of it tuned me out and started talking to another customer who was already being helped by the guy that eventual sold me my Sig. He would be a slightly older looking guy slimmer build and sounds way smarter than the first. Actually took the time to listen, made recommendations without any hard up-selling and walked me through the paperwork. Needles to say he will be the main guy I will work with next time I buy from them. As for the store, very nice selection and fair pricing compared to Seattle, Tacoma stores.

When I walked in the door to Boerner Fire Arms I had literally never been in a gun store before and I knew very little about what I was looking for beyond the needs I was hoping to fulfill. I looked around for about five minutes before being approached by one of the associates. I feel bad that I dont remember his name because he was amazing. He literally spent two hours showing me a bunch of different rifles and explaining the reasons why someone would buy each one. He was very polite and while he did talk a lot, the second I had anything to say or question to ask he would stop mid-sentence and give me his full and undivided attention; whatever he had to say was no longer important because I had a new question that was more pressing for me and I thought that was awesome. In the end I had the rifle I wanted to purchase all picked out and ready to go, but when my NICS check came back I was denied due to some crap in my past that I have to sort through before I can complete the purchase. After having spent two hours of his time on a customer that couldnt even purchase a gun if he wanted to I partially expected the associate to be annoyed, but he wasnt in the slightest. He simply said these things happen, provided me with a number to call to try to get it worked out and gave me a free T-shirt since I couldnt leave with a gun. Now that I know what I want, Ive looked around to compare pricing with other purchase options and Ive found their prices to be very competitive and candidly, for the customer service alone, Id rather support a local business. Once I get my stuff sorted out I will definitely be going back to Boerner Fire Arms to complete my purchase.

Most of the employees would rather chat amongst each other cracking jokes about previous customers ignorance levels. Theyre not always friendly nor do they give accurate advice the majority of the time. They just want to sell their guns and move on the the next person. One employee even made a smart aleck remark to the owner about me wanting to buy up all the ammo in the place when my wife stopped there to buy some 22LR ammo and then when I called him on it he got really pissy and had the owner, Rick, handle the issue for him. Not once did I hear an apology from either of them. He passed it off on the damand increase in the market and I told him that was no excuse for poor manners. Google Boerner on local forums and youll see what Im talking about.
