Tidewater Finance Company

I filed bankruptcy about 4 years ago and my car was not on any of my credit reports, except for credit karma, but that didn't count. And my daughter said they can just repossess my car, but I was like, what so I called my bankruptcy attorney, and this is what he told me.
(You did not do a reaffirmation agreement on the car, so the debt is discharged. You can give the vehicle back and should owe nothing. The lender cannot collect on the car note since you did not file a reaffirmation agreement in the case--their only remedy is to take back the car.) That was four and a half years ago I have been paying ever since i got 24 more payments left, and they'll probably just repossess my car. I don't know what to do. I've been paying on a 72 month loan!!

Have had my car financed with Tidewater for almost 3 years. Never had a single issue with them. The couple times I had issues they helped me find a viable solution. After just having filed bankruptcy they were the only company that would take a chance on me. Love my 2018 Malibu thanks Tide water

Ever since I've had a car, I have gone through loan companies.
But this by far is the worst loan company i've ever worked with. I don't know how they have a 3.9 rating on google!
Come to find out if you want to change your due date. The date that you set at the beginning of the long once they confirm everything, That is the date that you're stuck with For the entirety of the loan, so BE CAREFUL!! They will not let you change it no matter what you do. Then they ask me a lot of times the reason for the lateness? Well, when you have other bills to pay and you pile on everything in one. How am I supposed to keep up with my payments? Doesn't work to my advantage. But also doesn't work for them because they don't get their payment on time.
They come off like they're more concerned with the money rather than really trying to help their customers. They charge a very high interest rate. Their customer service is pretty poor they have very lengthy wait times to speak with someone whether it's via chat or phone call. Then they tell you that you have I think 3 or 4 Times that you can put like if you're in a financial situation your payment to the end of the loan. But then the end of charging you like $200 hundred dollars to do that.
I personally hope that I never have to go through this loan company again. It's been a hassle since I started with them. I do not recommend them to anybody.

I give 5 stars because they were willing to finance me a vehicle a month after I filed for bankruptcy. The interest rate is obviously high because I had a BK. However, It's been 18 months since I got the car and I am in a much better financial situation and the 72 month loan I will pay it off in 24 months. I am much better financially now and I can now afford to pay off the car early. I just appreciate the opportunity to finance me a vehicle.

They approved me fast but from there it has been horrible. They are rude answering the phone they speak over you and never let you speak, I am current on my payments but my Hyundai was stolen a few weeks ago and I have been paying into collateral insurance for almost 2 years ( I switched my current insurance but it was only swapped a few days before being stolen) and now they are saying it was only on my car for a year and is refusing to GPS the car or even assist. However the account managers for instance Diamond told me I do have active collateral on my car and they should pay for it but the insurance department is refusing to file a claim also they have refused to even take my incident number and update my file. I have called over 5 times and and every time I have to tell them the car was stolen and they still never take my incident number and they are rude and hang up.

I called 1st thing Friday morning, got the run around about what I needed to pay until the following Thursday afternoon. They said they couldn’t get me the total amount I owed until the other company they used gave them an invoice. So I called the other company, who in turn told me they couldn’t send an invoice until they received the amount owed from Tidewater. It was a TOTAL CIRCUS!(Mind you, I was ready to pay it Friday morning) and they already had sent it 4 hours away to the auction house 2 days prior to giving me the amount owed!!!! They said it could take up to 5 business days to get the “paperwork” to release the vehicle, knowing darn well they were going to send it to auction before you could even get a chance to pay what you owe to get it back. They are a HORRIBLE company. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy there!

I give them 2 stars because of what is the payout and what you payits 2 different stories. When you make a payment 499.99 your balance is 12,109 and if pay the car off go up to 12.300 dollars dont make sense 20% rate. You make another payment it come down to 11610.I feel something with the accounting Practice with the company is wrong The twenty percent rate should be already put into the loan once you get payoff The per diem per day should not use as part for a payoff loan quote. Thank you for loan.But will do my research for future purchase of a car.

No option to have someone take over your payment. No option to refinance. Just get the payment and be screwed with it unless you want more debt, and as most people are coming here FROM bankruptcy it s a huge scam. My situation is hard but this company gives zero options besides to pay off your ridiculous interest rate on your completely over priced vehicle I mean come on it s valued at 9000!!!!!!!! I ll be paying 30 unless I want to put myself in a bad financial situation again. If you re stuck at least try to find a company that gives you options and trust me. THIS ONE ISNT IT

High intrest, paid on time for 3 years never missed a payment paid off loan took 7 weeks to get tittle and in payoff made a 600+ dollar overpayment took 8 weeks for them to even mail it out and still waiting for it to arrive. I would give zero stars if I could. While my husband was deployed I called several times and asked for something in writing reflecting that they had adjusted the interest rate appropriately. That never happened. Every time I called I had to jump through hoops even though I had sent in his orders and my POA. I asked repeatedly to update the contact information to mine but I was always told we updated it and that never happened either. When my husband got back from an 11 month deployment we called to get the pay off quote, rep refused to give it to me until I asked for a supervisor. She stated that she couldn t provide it over the phone. If a random person is calling to ask how much is owed on my loan .PLEASE let them pay it. Glad to have ended my business with them. They helped in a time of desperation but that s what these leeches feed off of. PLEASE don t make the mistake of doing business with a company that can t even do right by a service member.

Im currently in bankruptcy, I was considering contacting this company but after reading these reviews I will be adding this to the Nope!! Pile. (Always read reviews on any company you plan to do buisness with) when the bad out weighs the good think rational. Impulse is what they hope you go on. Dont let them use your desperation against you. Take your time and make a good decision.

After this experience of financing a car through them, I wouldnt finance a bicycle or the air to inflate the tires through them. Outside of Covid related struggles/issues that everyone has experienced, this is the WORST car financing situation Ive ever been through. Will never use Tidewater Finance ever again. Customer service is great, its the harassing phone calls that keep coming even after you have spoken to someone. If your bill is due on the first of the month and it was not paid the second of the you start receiving phone calls and it seems as though no one writes down any notes to let someone know that you have already been contacted. I understand that their is a debt that needs to be paid, but sometimes give the customer the benefit of the doubt.

Terrible custom service for so many reasons. How are you going to email me ask me to call but yet you call and there s a recording that says there s not a live agent? What sense does that make or you can email and chat.. yet I haven t seen the option for a chat.. We just got a loan from Tidewater for our 2017 Trax. Since our loan is brand new I can only give the beginning of the loan experience with them. The only contact I have had with them is the welcome interview. As for that though, they were extremely nice and answered all of the questions I had. Hopefully the rest of our loan experience with them is just as nice!

Never missed a payment, been set on automatic payments and the one time I couldn t make a payment due to my household getting sick they still required a payment to qualify for a one time skip payment due to covid relief. So I made the payment from rent money and got denied I ve been financing with tide water since 2018 and always been automatically taken out of my account and I will never do that mistake again. Please do your research before saying yes to a finance company.
