Where to start.. opened the wrong account first making the in app experience terrible, inadvertently disclosing someone else’s account to me in my app and gave me full access to it too (lucky for that person that I’m honest and didn’t steal any of their money before reporting it), mobile deposits error out then won’t accept saying I’ve already deposited it forcing me to deposit to another institution or go in to the branch but one showed up delayed, and the ongoing in that no one can fix, their technician can’t fix my main account to show me the account number and literally tells me, “that’s how customers are losing their life savings”. So, how safe is this bank really!?…drumroll please… can’t transfer money in or out of my accounts to another institution and that’s been ongoing since May 2023. Every tech gets to unlinking and linking which takes a few days for the initial transfer of funds to show up. Then says, “come back/call back when that shows up and if it doesn’t work.” The account is visible but the transfer option won’t recognize the account. When I go back in or call, the next representative does the same thing and tells me to call back or come back if that doesn’t work.. IT NEVER WORKS!!
I’m finally filing a Complaint with the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) **Updated**. You should consider that option too if you’re having inadvertent disclosures or your account has been disclosed to someone else or your bank won’t allow you to actually bank.
I emailed the email address in their response 10/17/2024 and still have never received a reply.. Not shocked considering.

Starlee was genuinely the nicest sweetest person I have ever met, she was so helpful and fun to talk to, she joked about me driving back up from salt lake to see her next time and honestly I probably will because I’ve never had such a fun and comfortable time at the bank. Someone give this girl a raise because she definitely deserves it :)

Mountain America Credit Union is WONDERFUL in Midvale. Tooele though, this has been the absolute worst banking experience I've ever had and this has been consistent in my now two years at this branch. My most recent experience which was the straw that broke the camels back and caused me to close out several of my accounts and transfer my savings to a different bank was how absolutely AWEFUL the logic behind the fraud detection is. I was in a hurry one morning and needed just a couple hundred cash. I was in my truck with a trailer so figured I wouldn't try to torture everyone else trying to use the drive up ATM, I'd just park and go in. Well, they wouldn't let me make any withdrawals because all of a sudden they'd lost my marriage certificate which had been sent in (and everything updated and been working fine for over a year) and claimed they couldn't establish my identity so I'd need to drive home and get my marriage certificate so they could upload it. They told me that my debit cards and credit card would still work though. How that's less secure than me walking into a branch in person with ALL my cards and personal identification, I'll never understand. Anyway I was in somewhat of a hurry and on a tight timeline that morning so after being assured all my cards would still work, I put the truck with the trailer through the drive up ATM anyway. Bam... no withdrawals available. My debit card had suddenly been locked. I went back inside to see what was going on, they couldn't have cared less. How does THEM losing my marriage certificate and a year later me walking into a branch to do a small transaction trigger locking all my accounts? Everything on my end looked like for the past year my name had successfully been updated to my married name and all my accounts had been functional like this for a year. THEY make a mistake and give no craps about correcting it or acknowledging the impact?
I made an appointment later to close several of my accounts. Again, they could not have cared less. They made several mistakes there, blatantly lied to me about several things but this is long enough so I'll stop here, just be warned. Take your business elsewhere. NOT to the Tooele branch of MACU.

I waited 5 months to write this review because it was one of the most infuriating experiences I have ever had with MACU or any banking institution . I would like to first say the Tooele branch is the only branch I have had issues with. We were in the middle of purchasing a business and had spoken with Elisa (who seemed very uninterested in helping us) it was a rather complicated transaction that entailed multiple loans and in a very timely matter. We were assured by the assistant manager everything was in place and ready to go to find out Elisa decided to purposely not put our information into the system for the underwriting and we would have never known if we didn’t follow up with the branch and another member of the staff told us she wasn’t allowed to talk to us because her manager felt there was to many people involved. I only found this out when we actually closed on all 8 loans. Thank goodness for Rebecca she saved us from what could have been us purchasing this business or not. The manager Michelle was absolutely unprofessional and seemed deliberate on not allowing us to get our paperwork complete and it felt like sabotage. We now know to only go to the Lake Point location if we need to go into a branch. A side note when you have a line out the door of customers you shouldn’t be huddled in the managers office talking about outfits and weekend fun.

WARNING!!!! If you have a account with this bank and have unforeseeable event in your life (mine was multiple health issues such as a heart attack) and have to file for bankruptcy THEY WILL RENDER YOUR ACCOUNT (NO SERVICE) WITHOUT PREVIOUS NOTICE. You will not even have access to your account to pay your bills. I have over ten years of loyalty to this bank and it counted for nothing. No more. I was embarrassed beyond imagination. Being turned away because of having to file bankruptcy my account was no longer available. A person in my position should still be able to access at least my checking account so we can at least pay the bills. I could totally understand not being able to finance anything do to the bankruptcy, but to be denied access to my checking without notice is beyond imagination. USE THIS BANK WITH CAUTION AND REMEMBER YOUR LOYALTY MEANS NOTHING TO THEM!

My aged parents opened 60 month savings certificates for each of their grandkids. The accounts matured and I had to claim the money and close each of the 5 accounts. The teller at the bank was very considerate and patient as she helped me close all the accounts.

I recently lost my credit card wallet so I came into this branch with my paper ID and the girl with short black hair refused me service and demanded that I wait for my hard copy in the mail to go back because of fraud reasons and said there was nothing she could do. I m not a problematic person so I walked out and went to the West Valley branch & they had no problem with my paper ID.

Kimberly was a terrible person to work with she was extremely rude and disrespectful!!! I found myself being the one fixing the problem, and I dont even work there. She got upset with me because I said I felt like Im the only one coming up with solutions to fix the problem. sigh... sadly Mountain America just doesnt fulfill my banking needs. It isnt the staff; the tellers and staff are AWESOME, helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. My issues are with, mainly the website. It seems to be down more than it is available (I dont use app on my phone). It also seems to take a very long time for transactions to complete. The account numbers are screwy as well, if you want to pay a bill out of your account through the utilities website. I nearly had a late payment because of that, and I entered my account number exactly as on my statement, luckily I paid early enough to have time after my payment was rejected to figure it out and make payment on time. I am disappointed, but my son loves Mountain America, maybe it is just geared for younger folk!?

Update: 9/6/23 Well, I drove up to the ATM today and saw that it was a nice big, new one. I thought, Awesome, they finally fixed the problem....NOPE! Cash withdrawal was temporarily unavailable, only deposits was available. What the heck! Update: 7/31/23 You guessed it! It s not working again ..I tried depositing cash in the ATM, but after going through all of the prompts and making sure that I had the cash in the correct order & direction like it said; It would take my bills of cash (which wasn t even a lot- only 4) and would calculate the total and I would push the button for the next page so it would finish the deposit and then the machine would make a noise and then spit the money back out and say sorry, but we can t process your request at this time . I even tried it a second time. Still said the same thing. All of the parking spots were full in their tiny lot, so I had to drive back around and wait in the line for the drive up tellers. An ATM is supposed to provide convenience for the customer, not more inconvenience! Update: 6/30/23 The ATM is completely down. For a Friday night and needing to have cash, it s really inconvenient! (Only been 3 months since the last review!) The ATM isn t working .again! 90% of the time I try to use it, it s not fully functioning. Today the cash deposit & the receipts parts are down. I m just going to start writing bad reviews, maybe it ll get them to figure it out. It s been over a year that this has been going on. I ve talked to the tellers inside and each time they just say that they know it s going on and they re trying to fix it. Ummm, I m pretty sure by now they just need a new one seriously.

Absolute garbage bank Me and my wife Have accounts here, and we have been cashing out our checks together here for a while now I showed up and all of a sudden on one of those days To try to cash out a check And they told me no, because Im not on her account. Ive been at this bank for a while and weve been able to do this for some time now and I now have to wait at the bank for over an hour just to talk to a manager to try to Get this problem fixed. Its the small things I swear to God. I had to go all the way to where my wife works And grab her card just to come back to the bank to get the money out of the ATM. Im tired of the small things that this bank makes big issues out of And I never saw the manager even after waiting a whole hour. Very annoying, replace your management With people who are more competent.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We have had a money market and savings for several years with Mountain America. I convinced my husband to move our business account and personal checking to MACU since I have had positive experiences there. My husband went to the bank on Saturday morning around 10 am to open a simple checking so that we could start moving funds. When he got there multiple associates were in the managers office laughing and having a great time while customers were waiting in the lobby. Finally a young lady came out to help customers. My husband told her that he just wanted to open a simple checking account. When she started talking to him about cds and money market accounts he said that right now he only wanted to open a checking account and that we already have a money market and savings account. Since I set up the accounts he couldnt remember if he was on them or not. She then asked how he didnt know if he was on the account or not, treating him like he was an idiot. When she started to give him attitude, he called me and had me listen in. I heard the associate repeatedly demand to know why he wasnt interested in the other things they had available. He told her again he only needed a simple checking, nothing else. She demanded again to know why. My husband then told her to quit rolling her eyes and being disrespectful. It was just a few minutes later that I heard another woman (my husband said it was the manager) came up to him, told him to take his paperwork and leave and dont come back. She didnt even bother to find out what was happening. I am so appalled and disappointed that anyone would treat anyone so shameful and disrespectful. I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt heard the exchange myself. I had been talking up the bank to him and this is what he got. Shame on you! Those two individuals give the bank, the branch, and all of the kind, helpful associates there a bad name. I will certainly be in Monday first thing to close my accounts. Absolutely shameful!

I have been a member of MACU for a little over 18 yrs and I have come across several associates from the branch and there is one particular associate from this branch that is in Tooele that deserves a great recognition her name is Joleen she has the best positive attitude that you could ask for she makes you feel welcomed and helps you as much as possible. Its the way she directs her self that makes her more than a 5 star great job Joleen your the best.

My husband came to cash a check didn t notice his id was expired the teller told him they couldn t cash his check. So we went to the DMV to get his Id renewed came back to cash his check with the new Id then she tells him do you have the expired id to match the renew id when at the dmv they keep the old Id since it was expired and was no good anymore then she tells him I m sorry I can t cash your check because you don t have your expired ID why would they want the ID that is expired when at 1st she said they couldn t use the ID because it was expired and now she wants it. It doesn t make sense we really felt it was because he s Hispanic she didn t believe him. The DMV give you a paper ID until you get the new one in the mail with a scanning bar etc we are really disappointed in the treatment we received today made us waste our time and the teller that help him out was the one in the drive thru

Whoever is working for drive through does not know how to do job correctly made a mistake on 2,000 dollars and person working there made a mistake and put the money to someone elses account but problem got resolved only because I noticed the error, train yo people better please.

So Ive been with this credit Union for over half of my life and today I had finally had enough of this institutions crooked policys and the way they treat long time members so I closed my account. The only reason Im giving them two stars is because of the young women that work for this branch were very sweet to me. They cant help that their companies Core Values treat their own members like dirt.

The staff is very friendly and helpful it s a great credit union. I only have one problem with it, I have usually had to wait. Yesterday I had to wait for 20 minutes to draw out money. There were only 2 stations open and it appeared That both were working on new accounts with cards. New accounts need to be handled in a different area by other staff, maybe even a loan officer or one of the managers. I was first in line and had 5 or 6 people behind me. Also in busy hours all stations should be open even if management has to fill one. I have seen times when there is a line clear back to the door with 2 or 3 stations open and several people milling around behind the stations just talking.

Super bank. Last bank teller I worked with a few days ago was a 10. Easiest bank transactions without hassle. Teller was great. Love macu. Wish I knew the tellers name at Tooele branch. She needs to be recognized for her exceptional customer service. If macu can look up our account to see who help me to tell her shes appreciated that would be awesome.

I went in to my branch to get a copy of 60 day transactions (so I could get a high interest loan to cover a forgotten bill.). Instead I was asked about consolidation loan dropping my interest to below 15% one was 300%. My new monthly payment is lower than 1 biweekly payment. Thank you MACU.!

Received a letter that I didn t understand went into the branch office in to Willa. Had a professional experience with Tori she explain what the letter meant and how I could avoid that problem by having Better account maintenance but she s there to assist any time or any other tellers if I need questions answered. They are all very pleasant to work with when you are just banking or have a problem. If they don t know the answers they will find out for you not just tell you anything.Thanks for a job well done

I ve had a LLC for about 4 years and I own 2 actual businesses. This isn t a the same a sole proprietor. As long as you don t pierce the veil which I m sure who I talked to doesn t know what that means. I was trying to get pre approved for a commercial vehicle; She wanted my personal taxes and went on to explain on how I don t understand. I have a MBA, but please explain more to me. To then insult me while you re in pure ignorance doesn t make any sense. I haven t opened a business account and most of my money goes through a large bank. Probably 90 to just 10% at mountain America. I ve really considered just closing my scoffing and this is exactly why. Please continue to tell me a LLC that has employees needs to give their personal credit.

Went in to handle very emotional situation, bank associate was extremely caring and respectful. Triple checked every thing so no issues would arise to cause more grief. Found things and corrected them quickly. Very Thankful

I have not seen a more balanced team of employees that are genuinely concerned about customer service. Everyone that I have encountered since becoming a member have effortlessly gone above and beyond to assist me with any assistance needed. I appreciate not feeling as if I am bothering them by being there. Thank you all for all you do.

I have banked at Mountain America Credit Union for over 14 years and now Ive have closed all my accounts with this bank because of the way my granddaughter was treated someone deposited a $5000 check which was a bogus check and started to withdraw the money from the bogus check through her apple pay account the bank froze her account and notified her that this was happening but when she went in to resolve the problem they accused her of giving someone else her information about her account my advice dont bank with them!

BEWARE!!!! After 14 years as a member I have transferred all my accounts to America First Credit Union. This is due to the treatment of my granddaughter. On my recommendation she opened an account that was hacked and lost $1400 (which caused her to be over $1200 overdrawn). When dealing with the Fraud Department they viciously acussed her of the fraud. To keep her from losing the money in her savings for school, my wife and I made up the difference. So much for their claim that your money is safe from fraud. My suggestion.....put your money in another institution that you can trust.

very difficult transaction with multiple banks and financial institutions. Teller was excellent and competent. MACU is one of the best top 2 in Utah.

Used to love them. Now they contiounsly charge overdraft fees even when the money is there. Its became a joke.

Normally I am totally happy with mountain America. I have my bank accounts with them and financed my first car through them however this experience wasnt the same. I went to finance a car and was putting a 5000$ down payment on it. I also have great credit and yet with all that they were only willing to give me a 7% interest rate or 6% if I bought their insurance policy. Instead I went through the dealership for financing and I got a 5% with much more reasonable payments per month. I was highly disappointed not just with the offer but the representative who helped me. She didnt seem to really to care about helping me and I felt zero confidence talking with her.

Waste of time . I keep a fair amount of money in my accounts. They have failed me. I do not put up with failure. I am withdrawing all money and changing institutions.

ample parking, friendly staff, and the tellers inside do their job well. dont think I have ever spent more than a few minutes waiting.

Worst customer service I have ever had, I call the credit union and was on hold for ten minutes. I had my husband call at the same time, and they answer immediately to answer his question leaving me on hold. Don t worry it gets even better, then they transfer us to customer service so they don t have to do their jobs. Do yourself a favor and choose a different bank.

If I could zero stars I would. I bought a car from a private seller who banks with them and they still have not mailed the title to America first credit union. I bought the car 6 weeks ago March 5th. Ive already had to get a temporary license plates twice. I cant get my physical license plates from the DMV until I have the title. Im calling the branch tomorrow and getting the branch manager info. The lady who was the supervisor 50+ frazzled hair honestly did not know what she was talking about. 6 weeks really? THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSES!!! I received no calls that there was an issue what so ever.

I absolutely love Mountain America. This Tooele branch has the friendliest staff ever. They are all so helpful with any needs I have. We switched to Mountain America a year ago and we have been nothing but impressed with them. They are honest with everything. We even got a car loan through them and got a great rate along with it all going smoothly. I would highly recommend!

Awful!!! I recently applied for an auto loan at another Credit Union, I wanted to be sure I was getting the best deal available since I hadnt purchased in over 7 yrs so I came here. I intend to buy from a private seller, the tile is reconditioned, and I have a VIN. The entire purpose of coming here was to understand the details of the car, my own financial picture, and rather or not they could help me. Immediately as the girl begin to help me I could sense an attitude on her part, as if though a request to have a conversation with a loan officer was absurd.Through the process she made me numerous times confirm my info as if though it wasnt mine, and with each question she begin to make me feel more and more uncomfortable. The instant messenger popped up a few times, and she kept looking across the way adding to the whole experience. I agreed to pulling my credit but never received an understanding of what it said. The title changes things related to the loan, instead of a detailed explanation she gave me attitude about how could I possibly put half down. The interest rate should have been presented to me but I had to ask. I will be going elsewhere if I move forward on a purchase.

Every step of the way, the employees of Mountain America are #1. They are very friendly (even the phone representatives are happy to hold your hand through anything; they helped me to get a Visa). I am very satisfied with Mountain America credit union.

Mtn America cu is a good thing I like the people . They treat my wife. And I well. But mobile app security system sucks.when I try to do transactions the app asks me about people that I dont even know or people I mite know but I dont know the answers that the app thinks I should know but when I answer the questions wrong it kicks me out . This has happened several times. Which sucks cause if I need to pay a bill I cant. The new system doesnt work.

Mountain America has been extremely helpful with every service we have considered using. They most likely offer more than we use. We find the service by each individual employee has greeted us pleasantly and been very helpful. Not suppose to have favorites but we do and enjoy when we get to see their faces. Only way to bank (Dirty word) maintain financial assets.

Love this place! I switched from Zions Bank and couldnt be happier. Deposits are a lot faster! Ive never had a bad customer service experience here. The staff is always helpful and friendly.

Terrible customer service. Mahkayla didnt want to do the extra work to call key bank and verify a 10,000$ cashiers check. She first was happy to deposit it but when i said i needed cash she told me the bank didnt have ten thousand dollars cash to give me. I thought that banks hold all the money? I had an account there. Key bank is five min. Away. It would have fairly easy to verify instead of telling me its so easy to make fake cashiers check and it was impossible to cash it without a 48 hr hold. I closed my account immediately. Went to key bank and cashed it in ten min. She verified it and gave me cash. I now am happy with my key bank account and am not done reporting makahyla for her racist attitude with me. She was fine until my significant other came next to me who is not white. Then the attitude and remarks of a fake check came around. She has a horrible personality and im glad i will never do business with her or the company she works with again.
