The absolute worst experience ever! Finally refinanced and no longer have to deal with Celtic bank. This bank is a prime example of utter complete greed. Had a lean on my home and office building even though the loan was for my office building. I was unable to refinance my home when interest rates were low because they wouldn’t remove the lean for a few hours for me to get my home refinanced. It would have saved me over $500 month. The interest rate for my office more than doubled. I do understand I signed up for this but during a time with such extreme inflation maybe a little fiscal responsibility could help versus completely crushing me! And on top of all that I had to pay a prepayment penalty due to the refinance of the office. Heed my warning, stay far away, find another bank. If you have a loan through Celtic refinance immediately. SERIOUSLY!!!!

Cory and his staff were absolutely incredible. As a small business it is difficult to wade through the shark infested waters that have become an everyday risk for small businesses. Celtic bank was what I always envisioned banks were here for . They not inky listened to the full picture of my organization but then world with us to actually help move the ball down the field. I cannot say that about very many modern day financial institutions. We will continue working with Celtic as long as we can.

I thought everything was good with Celtic Bank. Until it comes time to pay the loan off. I sold a truck, paid off the loan. nobody seems to care about getting me a title. All I keep getting is that it can take up to 20 days to get the title. But the person that just bought my equipment from me, would like to register the truck and start using it. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that I have to wait almost a month after I pay the loan off for you guys to fulfill your end of the bargain and give me the title. There seems to be no communications between the departments. Everything else was fine to deal with. But when It s your turn to hold up your end of the deal. Nobody seems to care.

This does not reflect the bank in general but rather based on the partnership with Uplift loan program. I was previewing lift ticket prices for Whistler ski resort in Whistler, BC and saw that there was a zero-interest payment plan available and while I previewed it, I immediately got a message saying let s find you other options and then I saw that Uplift sent me a nagging email with a link to a full blown rejection letter titled Adverse Action, with a message saying I have insufficient credit history. I am in my 30s and actually have ten years of credit history. A complaint to Uplift (which partnered with this bank as stated in that rejection letter) led to a very unhelpful robotic form letter email reply just seconds after I sent the complaint. Keep in mind, this would be a small purchase that I can actually afford to pay the full amount. Not a large purchase that I would need a payment plan for. But I decided to complain due to the tone of the rejection letter sounding like I am not wanted, similar to childhood memories of being excluded from a friendship circle.

I would not do business with this institution again. My business to date is that I have used them for a fixed income CD investment. I am sure they disclosed up front that a CD purchased on 4/24/2024 had a First Coupon Date of 6/10/2024. I missed it upon purchase and will take the responsibility for missing out on 1 months interest, however, of all the fixed income CDs I have used, no bank ever had such a span between the time a CD was available and the First Coupon Date. In essence the investor loses 1 months interest due to that delay which benefits the bank who has the investor for that month with no downside.

We have used credit cards for nearly 40 years, and my family collectively holds 44 cards and never late on payments. Recently, we applied for the Embark American Express from Celtic Bank, intrigued by our positive experiences with American Express. However, our experience turned into a nightmare. Despite making a payment online before the due date, it wasnt posted until the day after the due date, resulting in a hefty interest charge of over 60% for less than 24 hours on a small balance of $34.99. Despite promises of a credit from other issues, none materialized. After multiple frustrating calls, it became clear that the bank has no intention to deal with customer issues but to charge them on every opportunity they can without cause. In the end, I was advised by a rep to pay off the entire balance including the amount yet to bed billed before the closing date to avoid interest charge even my statement balance was $121 and I received a credit of $121 before the due date. Additionally, their points couldnt be redeemed without a balance. This has been the worst credit card experience weve encountered, exacerbated by limited customer service availability compared to other companies.

I recently closed on my first SBA 7a loan through Celtic Bank that was used to acquire an existing niche business. If youve never applied for an SBA loan, the entire process is very lengthy and full of repetitive paperwork. After 3 other lenders failed to successfully complete our transaction, Amy Latinen took the bull by the horns and not only allowed us to close before the busiest and most profitable time for our new business, but she made it happen in record time! Amy and our closing coordinator, Samantha Vadnais, were the most pleasant, thorough and helpful people we dealt with throughout the entire lending process. The constant attention and follow through they provided to ensure our loan was able to close on-time was something Ive never experienced from any lender in my life. I applied for a SBA 7a loan through Celtic Bank and had the opportunity to work with Celcin, Ahmed, and Arika respectively throughout the process (October 2023). I focused on Celtic Bank after being spammed by most lenders that I submitted an estimate with (even SBA recommended lenders), and decided to go with them because they have an actual physical location and did not spam me (great signs). I have to say, they were all very helpful, kind, and patient throughout the process, and actually helped me secure a loan that was higher than what I initially applied for. At times I doubted whether I would actually be able to secure the loan, but they did not hesitate to encourage me to continue with the process and that they would let me know if something needs to be addressed. The whole process took about 3-4 weeks, with most of that time coming from me gathering all of the correct documents. I am convinced that if I had all of the correct documents ready to go, the process would have been even faster. I would absolutely recommend working with Celtic Bank if you are looking for a SBA 7a loan. Thank you Celcin, Ahmed, and Arika!

My experience with Celtic Bank was certainly 5 stars in all aspects of our SBA loan process. The entire team from my initial contact was accommodating, insightful and positive. I explained what I needed to do to help grow my business and they went right to work on getting things done. Prior to using Celtic Bank, we tried to work with other lenders who just couldnt help with our needs or they misrepresented who they were and what they could do. I never got that from Celtic Bank. They were straightforward on how they could help us achieve our loan goals within a sufficient time frame. Everyone I dealt with was professional and guided us thru the entire process. These guys are the worst when it comes to SBA Loans. Please stay away. They will waste your time and let the deal slip from your hand. They dont pick up their phones or reply on emails. This bank only likes to collect applications not fund them.

I have M1 which is issued by Celtic Bank. For several years Ive been an M1 Invest Customer. A year or more ago, I got the credit card. Of all my credit cards, Im most disappointed with this card. For one, they gave me the lowest limit of all my cards despite having a 750+ score and no late payments in my life. Second, I make $1,000+ payments and it takes over a week before theyll reflect the change on my spending ability. Ill receive an email saying M1 received my payment. Well then why do you wait several days before allowing me to use my available credit? Ill be reducing the amount I use this card and pay it off until you all fix this issue. No other credit card company treats me this way. I even called your customer support and they basically told me there was nothing they could do. They also said they have no control over raising spending limits as the computer just does it to accounts. I said, So your accounting department has no control over customers account limits? I find that hard to believe.

**Update** I received the $7410 SBA funding fee towards my principal balance but NOT the interest of $596. Its been 60 days and the bank told me they paid it. I checked my transaction history and its not there. Now they wont return calls. *Update* I was not supposed to be charged a SBA funding fee of $7,410 because of my veterans status. Celtic Bank knew this yet, they charged me anyway. It wasnt until I contacted the SBA and had them reviewed my loan paperwork that Celtic returned the money plus the interest. There was no apology, no admitting wrong, just there was a miscalculation.*** Richard Gaetano and his team funded my loan and in less than 10 months it has gone up nearly 50%/$1000 a month. It wasnt clear in the paperwork that it was an adjustable rate. Im sure they understand these loans well because they close plenty but they did not explain the damgers of this type of loan to a first time business owner. This adjustable rate loan is making it impossible to get ahead and if I can find someone to refinance it, I am looking at penalties for early withdraw from Celtic. I am at the mercy of a terrible market and stuck between a rock and a hard place. Buyers beware!

He assured me the process would be quick and smooth. Needless to say, it took longer than expected and wasnt as seamless as we had hoped. According to Visa support, this bank is the issuer of virtual Visa cards that were distributed by the defunct Bankoff service. They had a Telegram bot that allowed anyone to issue a US-based Visa card and refill its balance. At first they seemed legit, the card was issued instantly, the balance was refilled with various payment methods within minutes or hours at worst, the card could be used to pay for any goods and services online. Some people trusted hundreds and even thousands of dollars to this service. As soon as enough trust was built, they just stopped working, people lost their money. This was a fraud, a scam, and Celtic Bank was part of it, no doubt about it.

Got the Surge card, set up direct payments, never ever took out on the day they were suppose to,then u have to pay another 5.00 to pay with debit card, and when the ach takes so long that the moneys not there I have paid more in fees for this card than anything canceled and still charging fees...this is not the card u want. Just a joke all the customer service ppl dont speak English very hard to understand just a mess.

Great bank with great team. The online application process and what i needed initially and had provided was confusing in the portal but the rest of the process warrants five stars. My underwriting contact Brenden and my closer Marla were outstanding at what they do. My experience was ABSOLUTLY chaos. The main reason for the rating is for the care and support I was given by Cory Lucas. If you are looking to take advantage of an SBA loan - I would encourage against it unless you have A LOT of patience. Gratefully, I just closed and Cory was able to help me with my business acquisition. However, it was a bumpy ride. My advice to Celtic Bank would first be communication. I wish I had more communication, and I wish expectations were set realistically. I was first given the impression I would be able to close 30-45 which sounds reasonable as that is the time a lender who works with residential mortgages takes. Sadly, It took 4 months and I felt like I was extremely responsive to request by the lender. Secondly, would be to management. I was told by my underwriter and closer that they were both new (on a few occasions). I get that, but it does get old to hear. Hopefully upper management treats their staff well to combat the current employment crises. Hearing that excuse is a good fall back, but after a few times it gets very old. I did enjoy Cory and am very grateful for his guidance. Navigating the SBA loan process was not something I hope to ever do again.

If you are a small business in Utah, avoid this bank. I was hoping they would provide an option with good customer service to local companies looking for SBA products. They dont. Although the sales staff is serviceable, the loan servicing department not only refuses to be helpful, they insist on being rude while doing it. Unfortunately, small businesses need to look elsewhere for an institution with a focus on customer service.

See Celtic Banks pathetic response to an FDIC Complaint below: Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your complaint regarding the M1 Owner s Rewards Card, issued by Celtic Bank and powered by Deserve. In the complaint you indicated you received an invitation to apply for the card, which you did. You further indicated that someone from Deserve called to follow up with you regarding a fraud alert placed on your credit report. After various attempts by both you and Deserve to connect regarding the fraud alert, you indicated that you received an email stating your application was denied due to Other Information provided does not match application or external source(s). For resolution, you requested a more detailed explanation of why your application was declined and for the company to approve you for a card. Deserve has completed an investigation and the results are outlined below. According to our records, we received your application on October 26, 2021. After running a soft pull on your credit, which does not impact your credit score, we were made aware of a fraud alert on your credit report and your application was then flagged for manual review on October 28, 2021. To clear the fraud alert, a Deserve fraud agent (specifically dedicated to M1 Card applicants) attempted to complete a fraud verification phone call to properly verify your identity. Accordingly, an outbound call was made to the number provided on the application on October 29, 2021. The call was not answered and a request to call back was left via voicemail. Deserve s general customer support team received a call from you on November 1, 2021 where you attempted to complete the fraud verification process, however, since there wasn t a dedicated M1 Card fraud agent available at the time, you were advised by the customer support representative that someone from the M1 Card team would call you back. Another outbound call was made to you on November 24, 2021 by an M1 Card fraud agent to again attempt to complete the fraud verification processes. Again, the outbound attempt was unsuccessful, and the agent left another voicemail. You made another call on November 24, 2021 to Deserve s general customer support team and requested to speak to the fraud agent but again, there were no fraud agents available. Unfortunately, because of not being able to clear the fraud alert, your application was declined on day 30 (November 25, 2021) following your submitted application.

Horrible experience!! Never ever work with this bank. No sense of urgency, wish there is something below 1 star. Missed deadlines twice, costed us over $40K. Missed deadline for SBA Guaranty fee, costed us over $113,000. No communication, rather then keeping you in the loop and providing you the information, you have to extract the information to figure out where things are. Finally if you dont know what stress is work with Michael Rice, VP Business Development.

Dont do business with these guys! Ive been in business with Celtic for over 14 years, and Ive been lied to so many times that Ive lost count. (By Brad Bybee and Mike Endo)Theyre shady, and dont mind lying to your face, so long as theres fine print to contradict themselves. I Wish I wouldve recorded the conversations I had with them, as they now deny saying everything they ever told me. I could go into details, but quite frankly, it would be incredibly long. Just take my advice... If youre needing an SBA loan, dont do it here, No matter what they promise!

Myy post is not necessarily reflect the bank however bank subsidiary credit card Indigo. This credit card company fails to keep their obligations they are horrible they are horrible communicators they will not honour any commitment or payments that you have made including available balances that takes up to 14 to 20 days before they clear your. And constantly will hang up if requesting a sire manager. I will never use this card again and will tell as many people as I can about this Credit card company

We were interested in applying for a PPP loan through the CARES act. We first went to our main bank which will remain unnamed, but suffice it to say that they are one of the nations largest. We were told that in spite of being with them for over 10-years that we didnt qualify to apply because we had never applied for a business loan through them before. We went to a second bank through which we have an existing business loan and they said that they would be happy to have us apply for PPP through them. We attended their pre-application seminar, filled out the application, and received an email stating that the application was received. After several weeks of not hearing anything I decided to check in with them and they said that they didnt even have our application. I showed them the email they sent me showing that they had received it, but they claimed that was a mistake. Frustrated and ready to give up, a friend told me to contact Celtic Bank. The application process was all online and seamless - I didnt have a single question. Two weeks after getting that recommendation our PPP loan funds were deposited into our account. The forgiveness application was also seamless and taken care of online and we received that soon after we applied. When the opportunity to receive a second draw of PPP materialized, we knew where to apply - Celtic Bank. The second draw application was also seamless and Cory Lucas went to bat for us - we received a request for more information from him in an email sent late on a Friday night. A couple weeks after sending Cory the information he asked for, the second draw of PPP was deposited into our account. We are so happy with Celtic Bank that we decided that we were going to switch banks and open both personal and business checking and savings accounts with them. Unfortunately for us, they dont have checking and savings account services. If they ever do offer those services, we will be at the front of the line to move our money there. Celtic Bank is a refreshing contrast to the other banks we deal with and we really appreciate them.

it took a call the the VP to even get a call back from a loan office after trying for 2 weeks once they did return the call they denied my loan with minimal paperwork requested and then 2 weeks later they sent me an email stating that I had withdrawn my application which obviously I didnt because they denied me, also they never sent a letter stating the reasons why I was denied. worst bank ever, worst customer service ever avoid like the plague

If I could give this bank less than one star, I would. Negative five would be more appropriate. First of all, they strung me along for a month telling me I was approved for a PPP loan and then, out of the blue, I got an email saying that my loan application had been cancelled. No phone call, no explanation-- and no response to my emails trying to get answers as to why. Probably the amount of my loan wasnt big enough to satisfy their greed. Now I am trying to pay off my other loan to them so that I never have to deal with them again. First of all, they shut down my auto payment account for no reason, so I had to go through a several-day process to reinstate. Now they tell me they will not apply the payment (that has been removed from my other account already electronically so I know they have it) for 10 days. Probably so they can charge interest on the full balance. The people on the phones are ill-equipped to handle problems and I will be extremely happy in the near future when I will never have to deal with them again. I strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

As a small business owner, the SBAs Paycheck Protection Program was generally incredibly difficult to navigate, often amounting to a game of musical chairs. Particularly for my company, which had a more complex profile in 2019 given a change in payroll providers, we werent able to receive much traction with any lenders - until we reached out to Celtic Bank. I can say personally that - of the 15-20 different lenders we spoke to during this process - Celtic Bank rose above the rest, delivering quality customer service and attentive, diligent work as the rest of the industry seemed to be falling apart. In particular, Kung Nguyen, was outstanding. She spent hours on the phone with me, learning the intricacies of our businesss operations (they were more complex than most) and helping to make sure we got our relief through the program. I cant say enough - not only about the quality of my experience with Celtic Bank - but about what a contrast this was to virtually every other lender we spoke to. The PPP situation was a very difficult one for lenders but Celtic Bank shined under pressure and delivered for my business. They have a new customer for life in us! I highly recommend Celtic Bank as a banking partner for any small business.

After an unsuccessful attempt through another avenue to apply for the PPP loan for our company, I received an email that Celtic Bank had reopened their portal to apply. IMMEDIATELY after submitting our application, I was given the name and email address of the contacts that would get us through the process. That, alone, was amazing! Our Loan Specialist, Adrien Drake, was awesome! He was responsive & worked diligently to get us through. I submitted the app on Tues. On Wed it was submitted to the SBA. On Thursday we signed the closing docs and on Monday our money was in the bank. Thanks to Celtic, we will be able to pay our employees, allowing them to take care of their families, while they are not able to work. That means so much to us. Ive done two SBA loans with larger banks in years past. They were slow, bureaucratic, and unresponsive and took months to complete. Recently sought funding for PPP from a large bank who my company banks with (for now) - which was unresponsive non-communicative, and it was clear that they were unable or unwilling to complete the process in a timely manner. My fear was that they would not accommodate the application before funds were exhausted, despite a very early application request on my part. At the suggestion of a friend, I submitted the application to request funding for SBA PPP via Celtic Bank and was able to receive funding from SBA in a few days despite large volumes of requests. I cannot say enough good things about Kari Bryson and her work with me and several colleagues in helping us secure our PPP loans during the Covid-19 crisis. Kari was extraordinarily responsive, very efficient and got us our loan in record time. Her professionalism and kindness were so calming in what can only be described as difficult times. I worked with JoAnne Robinson at Celticbank during the Corina virus pandemic. I couldn t ask for anyone better to deal with. She was extremely busy and still was able to take care of my PPP loan. That took a tremendous stress load off me to know my guys will be taken care of for the next couple of months. I would recommend them to everyone. Thanks again JoAnne.

I researched a number of banks when my business decided to obtain SBA 7a funding. Celtic Bank in Salt Lake City is advertised as a SBA top ten lender and my experience with them was excellent. The contact assigned to our file, (Robin Burger) communicated what documentation would be necessary and was professional and courteous in every exchange. She educated me regarding the steps in the process and was always available if I had a question. I highly recommend Celtic Bank and Robin Burger. Thanks!

Kari Bryson and the Celtic Bank team deserve more than a 5 star review. The professional service, quick response time and additional assistance were above and beyond what we expected. Not only did they help with my PPP application and processing but took on 7 of my fellow business friends without even batting an eye. With banks pausing, or postponing my CARES PPP application Jody Niko and Kari Bryson stepped up. They worked late into the night Friday, and Saturday. I was approved Sunday and funded by 10am Monday I was not even a client of theirs just a referral. I called a few others still in Que with other banks and had them work with Kari Saturday and they were funded Monday. Talk about service, commitment, and comforting support in the most trying of times. 5 STARTS really how do you rate a person or business that just supported 160 employees and gave hope, peace and calm during this unprecedented time Thank you all at Celtic Bank, our thanks and prayers go out to your team and Kari and Jody in specific.

This bank is such a joke. Applied for an SBA. Received the letter of commitment and provided a good faith deposit. 2 months later after they came to me last minute every week looking for more paperwork which turned into they did not make the cut off for loan committee. Once it did make it through loan committee they changed what they wanted to offer. They offered much more money (which i did not ask for) in a line of credit along with a smaller sba. The line of credit was extremely expensive and not what we talked about. This was a tool they use to make more money as the line of credit was much more profitable then the standard sba. I decided to go to another bank who made a deal happen much quicker and exactly what I wanted and celtic offered in the commitment letter. Now they dont want to offer me back my good faith deposit but what good faith do they have changing the deal after and trying to force me into something more profitable for them. This place is a joke. And looking at the reviews this seems to be a common.
