I have never dealt with a ruder, ignorant, and more condescending lender before. To make matters worse, the individual I worked with was degrading and belittling. Not only did he give horrific financial advice that was clearly none of his business, he treated me as if I was a child trying to use my piggy bank money to get a mortgage. It was evident in his use of degrading language that, as grown man in my thirties, he believed that I got the lazy millennial false stereotype. Thank goodness these guys were a preferred lender, because me and my piggy bank would prefer to go anywhere else in this economy. I m giving them a 2/5 because they did finally end up fulfilling their part of the deal.

Taylor was fantastic help. I hadn t planned on relisting my home after spending 28 days in the hospital with two surgeries, let alone finding a new home to purchase! The mortgage company was so helpful, especially since I wasn t doing a usual loan, but instead a reverse for purchase. He knew, particularly, the stress from my situation and trying to find all the paperwork with my physical limitations & pain med effects. I wish I could give them more stars! 10/5 for sure! I have been working on my new mortgage for the past year and a half (2021-2022) during all the craziness of the mortgage industry. My loan officer, Jordan, was able to help me and my family navigate interest rates that went from 3% to 7% during that time. It was bonkers! But even with all that me, and my family were able to move into our new home at a rate that worked for us. Going forward, I am confident they will help me when it comes time to refinance. When I started the process of building my new home, Security National was the builders preferred lender. I had no intention of using them, but out of the three different lenders that I pre-approved with, they were the only ones to sit down with me and go over my credit report; they even caught duplicates that other companies had missed. They also took the time to help me understand the process and know what steps I needed to take to make my home a reality. TL;DR Security National is awesome, the best! Give them a call, and they can help with your mortgage needs. I would recommend them to anyone. 10/5 stars.

Here s my experience with Sam Ivey. I was referred to him specifically. I have purchased a handful of homes over the past 8 years and know that being self employed it can take extra work and documents so I was patient. Our closing date was arriving and things had gone smooth so far. Well come to find out the loan they had been applying for our home didn t meet the clear qualifications. (Over a specific price or less than 10 years old) So instead of finalizing things with the underwriter to be able to close by September 6th, they had to outsource to a different bank because they didn t read the 2 qualifications, so we would miss our first deadline. The sellers were super easy to work with and gave us our first extension on September 3rd to extend until September 22, even though Sam told us to ask for a 1 week extension. Not telling us we were apparently starting the loan process all over again, Sam s assistant asks us to send more documents (some that we ve already sent) about our income, bank statements, taxes, etc. Everything is sent from us within a couple days of being given the requests but unless we contacted them, we did not receive any actual updates. 3 more weeks go by and we had to ask for another extension (until September 30th) even though this whole time we are being told things look good and we should be able to close on time. Day of closing we have to ask him if we can close and he says we should probably ask for another extension. This happened on both extensions so far as well as being told everything looks good and they just need a few more things that shouldn t be a big deal. Understanding terms can change and expire, we asked Sam on September 22nd if the rates we were given were locked in. Sam responded Yes. The new closing date was now scheduled for the 7th. Closing day comes and at 3pm in the afternoon we get an updated terms and interest rate from the outsourced bank because ours had EXPIRED. So now we have a higher interest rate and an additional fee of $3,491.26 for re-locking the rates that had expired. I see the rate change in my emails and his excuse was the bank didn t tell me until yesterday. Understanding a little about the rates, I asked if the deadline was on the original documents he received from the bank and he said yeah we just missed it. So he admits to messing it up twice. We miss our deadlines because of his lack of details. He was willing to cover some of the costs for his mess up but I was supposed to pay the remainder because he didn t read the details and yet the whole time tells us things are going smooth and should be done soon. He and his assistant even told us title was being slow with the documents they asked for but when I called title, I found out they had never even requested certain documents. We ended up not buying the house we were so excited for because of this horrible experience. We would never recommend them.

Ryan was terrible! I wouldnt send my dog here. If you are working on a starter home this isnt the place for you. They seem centered around high $$$ loans only and care about returning calls when it benefits them. If you want to give someone your financials and let them take them and run, go here. Security National has been great to work with on our home! Our previous home we had a USDA-loan with a different company and it was a less-than-stellar experience. Unfortunately I dont have any pictures to attach since we did everything over the phone and exchanged information through their secure portal, but that was also the best part! We didnt ever have to go into the office until the end to sign paperwork. Their communication was frequent and timely and kept us going every step of the way. The portal used was efficient and easy to navigate taking the guesswork out of what was needed next and where we were at in the process. We went through Security National as the preferred lender for Arive Homes, but wed do it again for future funding :).

Brian was never too busy to talk. Understandably, he has more work than just my case and had to call back a few times, but I was always surprised how available he was. And I never felt rushed in a conversation.

Loved working with this company! Ryan started other process to get us prequalified. He was super easy to get ahold of and did a great job helping us get together all the documents we needed. Then as we chose our home builder we ended up having to switch to use Mindy. She was great to work with as well. Her team did a great job of keeping us up to date on the process. Everyone we talked to at the company were friendly and had answers to all our questions. I would whole heartedly recommend SecurityNational. As first time homebuyers we had heard all the horror stories about how difficult the process would be, but with SecurityNational the only reason we worries was because everything was going too smoothly. WARNING: THIS WAS MY EXPERIENCE ON FINANCING MY ARIVE HOME BUILD, ARIVE HOME BUYERS BEWARE OF THIS LENDER. This was my 6th personal loan on a home and by far the worst experience I have ever had. The internal communication is awful. We would talk to one person about one thing and then get sent paperwork that was completely different. Eric is horrible, I clearly communicated that on 1/19/20 I wanted to lock in for 60 days to save the interest rate in case the election increased them. On 2/10 I taked to him again because the rate stayed the same. I asked if we needed to unlock and then lock in again to avoid the rate extension fee and he said we wouldn t have to worry about it (this was through text so I have this conversation documented). In the first week of March I text to follow up on the loan and Eric told me that the 60 day rate lock would expire and I needed to pay the extension fee that would be over $8,000. I expressed my frustration as I was previously worried about this and proactively reached out to him in February. Also it had not been 60 days so it didn t make sense that it was set to expire. Come to find out Eric only did a 45 day lock which had us expire early. After talking to Eric and Austin about my frustrations we agreed they would pay half of the fee. I then received the closing disclosures that were completely different than what we had talked about previously on the phone. The fees weren t being covered but instead just moved somewhere else on the loan so I would not see them. Luckily I looked through all of the paperwork in detail and found where they hid the fees at. They apologized and finally got it right. My closing disclosure looked good and I thought we were good to go so I signed it. When I showed up to sign paperwork of course neither of them were there or had ever called to apologize about the errors. As I was looking through and signing the paperwork I noticed that my fees increased again by about 2,000. between the closing disclosure I had signed a couple days preciously and what I was signing at title they added about 2k in random fees. The title company offered to get it fixed but let me know it could take a few days, at this point I just wanted it done so I signed the paperwork. These lenders are terrible. I promise using a different lender WILL save you money. If they offer you a credit for granite or any type of compensation to use them I promise they will end up putting it in your paperwork or on your loan somewhere. Luckily our neighborhood has a ton of houses going in and anyone that I talk with that is building will hear this story and hopefully choose someone else.

She said that he was fast, efficient, and pleasant to work with and always came throught. I took her word for it and when my efforts to refinance with my usual broker ran into a bunch of snags, I gave Don a call. True to what I had been told, he was very impressive for speed, efficiency, availability, and completion. He earned a 5 star rating.
