I had an unhappy experience. I wanted to close a business account. Was told it required a loan officer. Also, they added a late fee on a payment that I was having trouble making do to my login in on the mobile app being blocked. I found out later that the reason I was having trouble with the app, was because when I had called in about closing the business account, one of their customer service agents paused my whole mobile access for some reason, maybe by accident I have no idea, without actually being able to close the account like I had asked. I had to go in to a branch in person to straighten things out which took hours and I was treated poorly when they found out I was closing an account. I ended up closing my entire banking relationship that day out of frustration. 25$ late fee when it was their error that kept me from seeing anything/ making the last payment on a car loan.
I work! I can’t be stopping down by the branch before 5pm everyday to wait in line and say “hey it’s me! how you been? Is the wife good? How’s Timmy? By the way, fix my account and don’t charge me late fees in the mean time, use what’s in the checking to pay off the $150 charge you just saw come in” That’s why I have the app! Don’t block me from my money and please waive late fees while I’m locked out by misunderstanding, or, when I finally come in in-person to pay, I may be a little upset. And if you’re not immediately helpful I might draft an angry Google review while I wait for one of your elusive loan officers….
I asked them to close everything and move the money and I spent a few hours getting that done. That’s my story. In the end, their apy on deposits was pretty low too I think it was under 2% when the prime rate is like 4.5% found an online bank that pays more like 4% on deposits so that might make me whole after the sneaky fee and all my pain and suffering trying to solve the problem unaided

We arrived at this location around 5:40 pm and the location was closing at 6:00 pm. When I walked in it was busy, and no one was there to assist us. We found a place to sit and after 10 minutes of sitting down someone finally came to assist us. They informed us to check in so I went to the cashier desks and asked to check it and when I asked to check in they acted confused and didn’t know what to say. After some awkward silence someone finally said yeah we can check you in but it will be an about an hour wait. Despite that being an outrageous statement I said okay I can wait. And 10 minutes later someone came to help me. Later on found out that the person that said it would be an hour wait was a manger. Little disheartened that the manager was trying to scare us out the door with a long wait time, and wished they would have been happier to served me despite it closing soon. Hopefully this helps someone and finds this helpful.

While waiting, we noticed that the branch seemed to be mainly run by teenagers and them starting to close down around us, which might explain the lack of professionalism and customer service. I finally asked them when we would be seen and they said “Oh, what for?” I told them what’s happened since we got there and why we were there and they said that we could maybe try tomorrow (today) at a different branch. Needless to say, I didn’t do that. It’s incredibly frustrating to be treated this way, especially when trying to become a new customer. This experience has made us reconsider our decision to bank with Mountain America.

I would never open an account with them again, much less request a loan. It's a literal scam. The only good thing was the service provided by Jesús when we went to pay off the loan and close the account. He was very kind and quick. So, ask for him if you ever get the crazy idea of opening an account or requesting a loan with this thieving bank.

I went in to change my credit limit and, without me asking, the guy checking my credit noticed I didn't have a money market savings account and would benefit from it. I really appreciated the extra effort to help me and offer more than what I was asking for. Professional and smooth service

I came to the branch this morning in a panic, I accidentally threw away an envelope with money in it when I cashed a check the night before. The employees were so kind, and Dakota actually asked me if I wanted to go dumpster diving to find the envelop in the dumpster where they dispose the nights trash. We found the money and I am so impressed with the customer service I received. I have been banking with Mountain America for over 20 years and I have no complaints, they are wonderful. Thanks Dakota!

The truth is that this branch has many bad comments and I wanted to risk going and the truth is that they treated me very well when I went to the counter to ask if I could finish my procedure that I had already done online and very kindly they answered yes, right now They attended to me and it was very fast. I didnt even spend 5 minutes waiting and the loan agent was very friendly. We only lasted 20 minutes and everything worked out. THANK YOU ZAID I dont know how to write his name correctly but he was a very kind and attentive guy.

Funny how when rates went up a few years ago my HELOC and other debt tools at MACU went straight up the next day - however FED rates went down, here we are a week later and nothing changed. Thats the definition of bad business.

Avoid this branch at all costs. Moutain America is a good bank but this branch doesn t know what they are doing. The state of Utah has an app on your phone where you can get your ID on your phone. I ve used it at plenty of other branches but this branch wouldn t accept it. I left my wallet in my office at work and needed to get a cashier check to pay my rent. It s not 5:26 and I m not going to have enough time to make it back to the bank with my actual ID so now my rent is going to be late. They can verify you others ways, full social, date of birth, address, a government issued application with your drivers license info. Keybank would have NEVER turned me away because I happen to forget my ID and other branches of Moutain America don t either!!! Just this branch I am beyond upset and might close my account and go back to my old bank. AVOID THIS BRANCH at all costs. Someone needs to come in and train them how to do there job.

I had an appointment with one of the associates. I checked in with a staff member when I arrived and was told the person who would help me would come soon. 30 minutes passed. Another worker came to ask what we were waiting for. We answered, stating that our appointment should have started 30 minutes ago. They disappeared for 10 minutes to come back and tell us that the person we had the appointment with was not working today. Frustrated that our whole appointment time was wasted, we left. We had to ask to leave work early to make the appointment as well. Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened at MACU and we are thinking of changing to a bank that will actually be able to help me.

We were misguided by the online loan officers and today we were meeting with Sara and she turned our whole experience around. saved us from taking out the wrong kind of loan we were being guided toward. I went to target to buy some groceries and I also needed to run by mountain America credit union to get some cash and then I noticed that there s an ATM at target from my bank I thought oh this is great. I don t have to run to my bank. I can just withdraw the cash from here it never told me that there was gonna be a charge. when I called to ask them to takeoff the charge, they told me that they couldn t do anything that that ATM wasn t theirs. So I went back to target and her is proof of the ATM. I came down to the branch the help me the also said they were going to look in to it. I hope no one else has to go through this.

I LOVE this MACU branch and use it exclusively for all of my personal and business banking needs . Kevin recently helped me consolidate my accounts and it already helps my personal, business, and mortgage funds separate and efficient. (*Plus, the 1.5% Cash Back Visa cards for my expenses are a no-brainer that he helped me switch to... free rewards!). I switched over 100% to MACU from another banking institution in 2019 and I am so grateful I did. The services provided are fantastic and exactly what I have been looking for to further my financial needs now and going forward. (*Especially this location )

My local branch is not the problem. Mountain America seems to have lost touch with its customers and only give their branches a script to follow. I complained by email 3 years ago when we bought a new home and discovered that my wife s credit rating was not being measured at all for some years due to administrative neglect from Mountain America when we pulled her credit for a mortgage at that time. We went with another mortgage lender as such. Why hasn t Mountain America answered my email?

Staff was nice but the wait in the drive-thru service with 1 vehicle ahead of me in 2 of the 3 lanes that were open (the one closest to the building was closed) was 20 minutes and that wait time far exceed what would or should be considered a normal wait time. Outside of the long wait it was reasonably quick to get my transaction completed. I did ask if there was an issue with staff shortage but was told no. Staff 5 stars but 1 start for experience due to long delay coming to average of 3 stars on this visit

Every one of my customers tried to finance a car there end up going through a very hard time. It seems as if they still learning how all that works. There is always something new they need or the want large down payment, when other credit unions will finance 100% with same or lower rate. I sell cars as a used car dealer and never once they dealt smoothly with my customers.

Went to make deposit in drive thru 2 of there 3 lanes were closed. Had to wait behind someone for 5 mintues. When i sent tube in it took them 3 mintues to tell me they would be with me in just 1 moment. And another 3 to help me. Looks like they only had 1 teller working....

I have been very impressed of the generosity and quality of customer service of this bank. It has been a great ride since opening a checking account a year ago. My recent WOW MOMENT was getting approved for a title loan at double what my car is worth with far less interest rate than Title Loan and all those title loan sharks out there. The money was Perfect timing to keep me afloat until I get paid my first check. Best bank experience ever!!

I came in yesterday to get new bank cards after I had my name legally changed as I am transgender. The teller I spoke with, Kallie, was compassionate and prompt in getting me new cards with my new legal name on them. She did not ask any inappropriate questions or badger me about why my name was being changed, she simply verified my identity and account information and got me on my way. Im very pleased and will continue my services with MACU.

I had the chance to work with Sarah Burtenshaw and she was amazing! I found a 2013 Nissan 370Z over the holiday weekend that the seller was motivated to part with. First thing the next day, Sarah got all the needed documents ready and pushed through so that I could close as quickly as possible. She is the reason I have the car! I had an issue with my account and transferring money. I called the Service Center and spoke with Simima and Katrina, who could not or would not resolve the issue, so I was compelled to go to my local branch. I was absolutely LUCKY and DELIGHTED to have Joshua Williams take care of my needs! He went above and beyond to get answers and solve issues for me. While I cannot give a 10 score, I can certainly give a strong 8! I walked away happy with the resolution and delighted to find that I still get EXCELLENT customer service after 35 years of membership with MACU! Way to go, Joshua Williams! You are a star! I recently refinanced my car in order to get a lower interest rate. The process was fairly easy and i was able to get a loan that was one year shorter than my original loan for nearly the same payment. It only took about 1 hour.

I have had some let s say interesting experience with other financial institutions which gave me the opportunity to look to find a credit union I could trust. Mountain America Credit Union(MACU)has been by Financial Planner for last five years... and I will say that MACU goes above and beyond. The Tellers, Loan Officers, and the Credit Union Manager. It s always a pleasant experience to know I can trust Mountain America and the peace of mind when comes to my personal financial.

As usual I was helped by friendly, place always looks impeccable and no matter where Ive moved MACU has always been close by due to their shared branching however I do have issues with the NO shared branching starting 2021 as it makes it difficult to access certain things on my account. It s sad to think I might have to close my account of 22 yrs.

I used to work as a teller at a different MACU branch, and this is by far the slowest drive thru service Ive experienced. Im still waiting so Im not sure how the actual experience will be. ALSO, theres no sign in the parking lot for the drive thru, making it confusing which way to go until its too late.

Terrible customer service. I went in looking to complete a simple shared branching transaction, when I was met with hostility by the blonde female drive thru worker. She told me she wouldnt be able to complete my deposit and offer no alternative paths to helping me, she simply said MACU as a whole couldnt do anything for me. I followed up wanting to understand the situation more, where I was met with radio silence and was continually ignored until I left the branch. This is a joke of a place that offers no explanation of help.

We went in trying to open a joint bank account. The place was completely empty with 5 people working at the desks. We told them we wanted to open a bank account and we re instructed to go wait. We waited over 20 mins, everyone on their phone, talking about what they were going to eat for dinner. Nobody helped us. We kept waiting, and another came in trying to get helped by the person sitting at their desk. He didn t acknowledge the customer, he didn t tell him to wait for one second, he let him stand there waiting for a response. The worst customer service I ve seen. We ended up leaving, since no one was willing to help us.

Being that there is no way to leave a review for the loan department and customer service department, i am going to leave it here. I applied for a loan on tuesday 7-21-20 I called for an update thursday morning 7-23-20 and informed them of the situation being time sensitive. Was told they would expidite the process and coorporate would have a decision in 3 hours and to call back and speak with my processor for paperwork. I called back four hours later and was told they can not transfer me to Terry because i dont know his last name. They also said there is no way to see information about the loan and they did not see any i formation saying the loan was expidited. I was told the only thing they can do is put in a request for terry to call me back. (How do you know what terry tonw end it to if you dont know his last name???) I called back that evening and was told a decision was made and that terry would he calling me the following morning. Cool. That woukd be great timing. I never recieved a phone call. Friday evening i called back and told them everything that was told to me and said i never recieved a phone call. I agaon was told that they could not see any information and could only again put in for a request for a call back. I told her i wanted to talk to a supervisor. Supervisor gets on the phone and basically tells me there is nothing she can do. I asked to be transfered to the loan department and they refused to transfer me or give me the phone number. So i went to a different credit union, opened an account, applied for the same loan, recieved a decision and had the funds in the account all within 12 hours. So here i am sitting on hold with macu again to cancel my loan. I have been on hold for 20 minutes waiting for SOMEONE to pick up the phone. This is seriously the WORST experience i have EVER had with a banking institution. Yal sure dont take anytime to take my money. But the second i actually need one of your services you basically just screw me off. Total garbage. I will be taking my bussiness elsewhere from jow on and will be removing my money and shutting down my account monday morning. Cheers!

Worst place to get a student loan from. They make it as difficult as possible and are so unorganized. I could go on and on and on why you should not get a loan here.

Mountain America Credit Union is a wonderful and awesome financial institution to be part of as a member. They are about their members and want to see everyone become successful in financial goals that are set. Even with setbacks due to credit issues MACU will let members know what they need to do ahead of time, so that an applicant can become eligible for the different credit products. And the service is excellent!!!

Persistently the slowest customer service I ve ever experienced at any MACU in the Utah and SLC valley. If you plan to go into this branch, expect to wait a minimum of 25 minutes in line, even during non-peak hours.

I went in to this Orem Branch for the first time and the gal that was at the teller was amazing! She was quick and took care of my transaction very efficiently. After I was done, I took my 4 year old and 3 year old to show them the coin machine that they have in their lobby and how they could bring in their money to turn the coins into dollar bills or put the money in an account. The teller gal (such a nice lady as my boys said) came up to my two boys and gave them piggy banks to save their coins without us even asking. Such a nice experience and great employee. Glad I made the switch from their competitor who also has an eagle logo. Thanks!

I just Open a new account with Mountain America i was so pleased with the experience.They were so helpful and friendly I have never been treated that good at any other credit Union or bank it was unbelievable thank you Mountain America

Worst experience in my life Rob was the most unprofessional person Ive ever encountered. He wanted document of where my deposit was coming from to get a car loan. He also told me why are you so anxious to do business with us i told him i had heard amazing things about this company and didnt think i needed an Exact reason. He continued to say he did not know me or my history so he didnt want to do business with me pretty much so i said okay if yoy dont thats cool and stood up and walked out. I called what he said was the number to corporate but talked to different people and i guess they noted the account. Secs after hanging up he calls me raising his voice. Saying im not discriminating you but if you want me to approve your loan i will need these thingsi told him i wasnt going into his branch and that i had what i needed and said thank you and disconnected. Im sorry but this is soooo unprofessional. If i said alot of what he did i would be fired on spot at my job because not only am i being unprofessional Im not representing the company well. Rob Allen is super unprofessional and left a sour taste in my mouth and if the calls are recored i would listen to it. But this was the worst experience of my life and he was extremely rude and unprofessional.

There was a line of 20 people. I was waiting for over 20 minutes to set up a new account then was asked to leave because they were closing. You are a business, if you are busy every Saturday, hire more people. If people are waiting, stay open to help potential new customers like any decent company would.

I have banked with Mountain America for over 12 years. I have never bounced a check and every time I go into the specific branch they want to hold my deposits for 5 days. This time it was on a check we have received from the same customer 3 different times within this month. Kind of strange how this is the only branch that does this. Went to my branch and it was deposited immediately. Poor customer service and satisfaction!

I had a problem with buying a car with this branch and all the manager could say to me was it was my problem. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. They were NOT helpful in any way and they had no solution for my situation. TERRIBLE SERVICE !!!

Horrible branch with the worst customer service I have ever experienced! I will only visit this branch in the drive thru and only to take cash out. Very displeased with the way I have been treated over the years by this particular branch. On the other hand I love the other branchs of MACU and have never had a single problem at any other location I have visited. In my opinion the branch manager at this location should be fired.

I love this bank and am sad Im moving somewhere they arent. The tellers are all so friendly and nice about answering all my questions. Today Melissa helped me and she was great. Sometimes the lines can be long when you have to speak with a representative but otherwise no complaints.

Mountain America is without a doubt the best bank or credit union that I have ever dealt with. We like them so much for their great customer service that we have moved almost all of our banking business to them.

i have never even dealt with this macu branch before, and my information was given out to someone, that was NOT on the account, and WITHOUT my permission. completely ridiculous and very nonsecure.

Horrible service. I have only been into the lobby a couple of times and each time had to wait about 20 minutes to speak to a member services specialist, while they had several employees walking around talking.
