Deseret First Credit Union - Bountiful: 260 N 500 W

I have been with Deseret First Credit Union for about 20 years. They have been mostly good, up until now. I recently moved, and AFCU is a credit union that is much closer to me. So, in order to transfer my account balance from DFCU to AFCU, I made a payment to myself within the DFCU app, that would go to my AFCU account. The first time I tried to put the payment through, I got an error message of some sort. So, I tried to put the payment through again, and it seemed to go through. A few days later, I received a bank fee in the amount of $28, because apparently, both payments to myself tried to go through, even the initial payment that showed that an error had occurred. I ended up sending a message via the app to try to get my $28 back, and was told that the $28 fee was valid. So, I called and explained the situation to a phone rep, and was told again that they would not reverse the fee. They even checked with the bank manager, and still, they would not budge.

$28 is not a large amount, but the principle of the matter is what bothers me. I am glad to be moving my finances to AMERICA FIRST CREDIT UNION. I will not refer anyone to DFCU ever again. They have lost their morals.

I've been a member since the 1980s for my personal financial needs. DFCU is an amazing financial institution. For the business I work for, I "had" to go to another big corporate bank to do some things, like deposits and getting change. It was a nightmare (super long wait times, unfriendly staff, un-personal service, etc). This made me really appreciate DFCU! I go into my Bountiful DFCU branch and everyone literally welcomes you into the door. They usually seem overstaffed in the sense that there is hardly ever a wait. Everyone is professional and friendly. I started getting my change for the business at DFCU as well and they were happy to help me with it, even though it's not for my personal account. I no longer have to go the big bank and suffer. My wife is a member of another (big) credit union that has become so big, their service suffers and the personal touch has got lost. I'm always bragging to her how nice DFCU is and telling her about my positive experiences and how DFCU hasn't lost its personal touch in all these years. I think she's finally going to switch to DFCU as well. I've truly never had a negative experience walking into my local Bountiful DFCU branch. Their customer service is A++. Everyone there is fantastic, however, I want to especially call out Scott Barr who has always been terrific every time he has helped me. Thank you DFCU!

I had my credit card compromised. DFCU called me 5 minutes after this happened and I was able to confirm the breach. I went down to get a new card and Steve Parker took time not only to help me get a new card but change over my savings accounts to better interesting bearing account and took the rewards cash and got it redeemed into my savings account. I m so impressed that he went the extra mile to see that I was taken care of far greater than my expectations. Thanks Stephen,, appreciate being taken care of so well.

My experience with DFCU is that they are not very professional and they are also not very personal for an unprofessional organization. I have a few loans with them that I took cash into pay. It was past the due date, but within the grace period. The teller at the Bountiful location was very loud and making a big deal about how I made it within the grace period. There were other members in the financial center and it was super embarrassing. I am sure he was breaking some sort of privacy violation, but to avoid it I have never gone into the branch again.

I did a construction loan with DFCU. I was really impressed with the very personal service, advice, and protection they gave me during the entire process. They were the only financial institution I could find that offered a one-time close at a competitive rate. Mike Dahl, the loan officer for construction loan, was on top of all of the details for me. Since this was my first time building a home, I relied on his knowledge and expertise. I was impressed with the entire process.

The people at the branch in Bountiful have been absolutely terrific in helping us get a lower interest loan. From day one, our loan officer was engaged and proactive at each step of the process, and quick to respond to emails and phone calls. When he had to be out of town, he made sure we were in good hands, and other staff was very quick to step in and help when needed. The customer service has really been above and beyond.

I have had the worst experience. My wife and I were attended by Amy at the Bountiful branch. We were struggling and needed help. She made us feel so guilty and embarrassed. Her facial expressions and constantly reminding us of what we already knew made me want to close my account there and leave. My wife and I work for corporation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Thinking that a credit union that seems to be based off of Gospel values would be different. It is not, Deseret First is just like any other establishment. My wife and I were not looking for a hand out, we just needed some help. Every time we have looked for help here it is like anywhere else. This experience makes me sad

I recently made a review on this bank (not a very nice one) and though all these fees and lack of communication have happened in the past. I have noticed that they have reached out and really tried to help my husband and I. I appreciate anyone involved in trying to make our experience better.

Ive had an account at this credit union for over 35 years. Theyve always been very helpful inside the branch, the loans I have had always had great rates, and they have enough people working at a time that you never have to wait a long time to get service. Highly recommend.

Initially I called Jeremy@DFCU and he walked me through what I needed to do to generate an auto loan with them rather than through the dealer since I could get a better rate this way. Per his instructions, everything went smoothly. We walked in with the vehicle purchase form from the dealer. Jeremys backup loan officer (it was a Saturday) verified everything on it. He got our information and credit verified and we were out the door in about 20 minutes with everything for the dealer. With a little pre-planning on our part, it was pretty seamless. Thank you.

Margaret, the Branch manager, has been wonderful today in helping my daughter with her gap insurance claim and replacing her total loss vehicle. The agent who normally processes the gap claims doesnt return calls, so frustrating.

I had called in a few weeks ago to get a quote on an auto loan. They quoted me a lower interest rate, however, the monthly rate was the same as another institution that would charge me a higher percentage. When I asked a third institution, that had the similar quote to Deseret, why the interest was lower but the monthly payment would be higher they said it was due to disability/death insurance and GAP insurance. So apparently that is what Deseret Credit is doing also. Furthermore, I went in to Deseret Credit today before I went to the third institution, that I just talked about, and I sat down on one of their couches. I was there over five minutes and in those five minutes I watched the tellers being busy. However, I saw one guy just sitting in his office looking bored, and he kept looking out at me but then he would go back to playing on the computer. The other lady was playing in her desk. There was only one lady in an office that was busy on the phone. I even saw and heard another employee approach the lady that was playing in her desk and tell her about some problem about her car in the parking lot. She had time to immediately run out to take care of it. However, when she came back in she didnt even pay attention to me sitting there. I did finally approach a teller and she said that she would contact the two people that could help me and they would help as soon as they were available. However, I saw two people that were available and they were not offering to help. So I decided that I did not want to place myself in their lackluster hands to trust that they would do quality work on my auto loan that would lock me into 4 or 5 yrs of payments.

Dont finance a car with them. They tack on an unbelievable amount of fees and make sure not to tell you, so make sure to look at a loan calculator signing final paperwork. Then they are clueless as to what else is needed to prove insurance on your financed car through them, therefore i then got a huge charge tacked on to my loan and a ding to my credit because of their carelessness to know what is associated with proving insurance. Definitely would stay away from this bank.

Terrible experience. There are so many better credit unions in Davis County. Without going into detail, this was one of the worst financial institutions Ive encountered.

I love the staff at this branch, they are always so polite, I often talk to women tellers but this last time a man named David helped me make a payment and he was just amazing. Keep up the good work! Wonderful service, thankyou! :)

Ive been a member for over 30 years at the Bountiful location, Ive always been treated well and have loved the service they provide. When they have helped me with financing vehicles they have always had great rates. They are a great Credit Union.
