My fiancé and I worked with Brad and his team at Houston Gold Exchange on four different pieces of jewelry and we are happy with all of them! I provided an heirloom opal and ring from my grandparents to use to make my engagement and wedding rings, and they go together so well! The jeweler molded my wedding band to fit right next to my engagement ring, which was no small task, and I could not be happier with the outcome. I also had trouble with my ring wrap for my Aggie ring hurting my fingers when I wore it, so the jeweler beveled the sides for me, and it is much more comfortable! Amy was very helpful, too! I would recommend this small, independent jewelry business.

I recently had the pleasure of doing business with Brad, the owner of Houston Gold Exchange, and I have to say, I was very nervous at first having to pick out my fiancees engagement ring without her, I wanted everything to be PERFECT.
Brad has been doing this for over 30 years and he guided me through the whole process making me feel comfortable every step of the way.

I cannot express how amazing the final product turned out. If it were not for Brad I wouldn't have had the most amazing engagement ring with my fiancee can't stop staring at and I think loves more than me!!!!

Houston Gold Exchange offered me an extremely fair and competitive price as for he get his diamonds direct instead of going through wholesalers..

Today 11/11/23 I had the opportunity to go to the Houston Gold Exchange and I have to say that I was very disappointed with the service. I did not take the Gentleman’s card because that’s how upset I was with his service. I Took a few items in to get a price range of how much the Houston Gold Exchange would offer me including this 18kt Diamond heart ring and he offered me $350.00 and proceeded to get angry with the way I wanted to do business. I may be old school but where I come from the customer is always to be treated with respect. I have never ever been treated as badly as I have been today! With this said I will never ever send anyone to the Houston Gold Exchange. It was a waste of my time

Almost 2 weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Brad Schweiss when I went to pick up my watch. Based on my impression, it was broken and needed repair. I cant express how much I appreciate Mr. Schweisss honesty when he kindly placed the watch on my wrist and said it only needed the battery replaced. He had no idea of the sentimental value the watch has for me and I was grateful this gift didnt need to be discarded. In addition, he comped the cost of the battery, labor and time. Again, I appreciate his honesty because otherwise, I wouldnt have known and could have been charged any amount elsewhere. After contacting numerous gold buyers I found that they were the only one who were willing to tell me. Everyone else couldn t oblige. The older man who is in charge here is a full blown liar and a thief!!!! I brought a bag with 100 pounds of sterling silver .925 in to him and asked him how much it was worth and he told me that it was only worth $2,500- $3,000 because it was not 100% silver.. well he didn t know that I already knew what I had and what it was worth so I told him no sir your wrong it s worth 29,000$ with the current market value and he proceeded to get angry and very demanding telling me I could take the deal or leave his store so I told him bye and told him I would contact the better business bureau

He got me excited when he was describing the design for a beautiful gold and diamond bracelet, and I normally dont get excited for jewelry! This place is an absolute rip off they offered me less than half of the market value of the current gold rate which was 56 dollars at the time and I had brought in about 40.75 grams of 22 karat gold ... they attempted to buy all 40.75 grams of 22kt gold off of me for 1100 dollars but due to my lack of financial support and a surgery for my close family member I needed the money and couldnt refuse but I would recommend anyone else who is thinking about taking thier gold or diamonds here to sell,to reconsider and take your jewelry elsewhere..the saddest part is the man who swindled me out of more than 1000 plus dollars was one of the owners himself so shame on him for taking advantage of people like that...I hope that your future customers will reflect the kind of business owner that you are... I certainly will never be returning to that location ever again....and I recommend you take your jewelry and business elsewhere...theres is no honesty or integrity left in this sad excuse of a business....shame ,shame,shame on you and even more so shame on me for accepting that poor excuse of an offer,in weak moments a person is forced to make decisions that they wouldve never done had the circumstances been different....this truly broke my heart

I went here to sell a diamond engagement ring I ve had for years. The lady asked me how much I wanted for it, I told her. She then does all these tests and typing on the computer like she s researching. She goes and discussing something with her coworker and then comes back to me and says I can t give you anything close to that because your ring is not a natural diamond. She then offers me a waaaaaaay lesser amount. Me, someone who knows nothing about diamonds, was about to take the lesser amount because I just wanted to get rid of it and I figured maybe Kay Jewelers had gotten over on my ex. My sister was with me and she has more experience with jewelry so I consulted her. She was very vocal about it not being moissanite and asked the lady to prove it. Long story short, we left. Went to another jeweler who buys jewelry and they confirmed it was indeed a real natural diamond and I lived happily ever after. Sellers BEWARE.

Dont waste your time. The guy that was helping me was extremely passive-aggressive the entire time and made me an offer without factoring the diamonds and other gems in. When I asked about it, he claimed he didnt realize I brought diamonds and when I pulled out a ring with a diamond that I already have an appraisal on for over $4,000, he looked at it and said yeah I could get this for $20 from India. Honestly one of the worst experiences Ive had with customer service, ever.

I buy jewelry alllllll the time and most of the staff seemed cool when I walked in and nice at face value but the grey haired guy (I m assuming the owner) was very dismissive and short which I m not used to at all -especially if I m expected to spend money.... he also gave a quick quote -that was $300 less than that a regular pawn shop down the street for a ring I brought in (his offer being about slightly less than 20% of what I originally paid) -but I ended up just keeping it rather than being cheated (I m glad I got a second opinion tho)- he was the only off putting part so As long as he is avoided the place is ok - I won t EVER be back lol I DO HIGHLY SUGGEST REINERS INSTEAD I like dealing with ppl that make me feel welcomed

The Houston Gold Exchange switched my diamond when we upgraded my wedding set leaving me with a diamond of noticeably lesser quality and significantly less value. I had an appraisal on the old diamond, but HGE refused to honor it saying I could not prove anything without an etched i.d. on the stone. I had been previously trained by a reputable jeweler to identify the very minor flaws in my old stone using a jeweler s loop. The new stone had entirely different flaws and had fluorescence which my old stone did not have. The appraisal they gave me on the new set reported the color of the diamond was several shades darker (K-L) (mine was an F-G), but the clarity was higher. Houston Gold Exchange said my job was managed by a temporary repair staffer who had been hired during the holidays to help with the holiday rush, but they never accepted responsibility for the theft. They are deceptive, rude, arrogant and should never, EVER, be trusted!!!

We have been clients of Houston Gold Exchange for over twenty years, (Westheimer location) purchasing an engagement ring, wedding bands, watches, and anniversary / special occasion jewelry gifts. Our most recent purchase was a custom-designed (in-house) ring, which we love. We choose to do business with HGE because it is a family-owned business, and not a dime-a-dozen chain-store at the mall. We liked how the HGE staff interacted with us for our fairly modest purchase, treating us just as if we were high-rollers. All in all, just a really nice shopping experience.

RACIAL PROFILED!!! Blacks and Hispanics ARE NOT WELCOMED. Go spend your money elsewhere! I walked in, the short guy, grey haired with glasses did not greet me or sayhello I asked do they buy and sell jewelry? He said WHAT? Loudly. I then said I am looking to sell and old ring and buy a new one for my husband. I asked where are the mens rings. He abruptly said we dont SELL Fashion rings! He pointed to the case and said this all we have for men and walked off. I asked if they have a jewelry designer, said he is off for two weeks. I clearly was unwelcomed and traveled to another jewelry to spend my hard earned money.

Rip-off! I took 3 rings to sell, 1.1 carat Vs1 E diamond ring on platinum, 2 carats sapphire ring on white gold, and another small yellow gold ring. They offered me $350 for all 3. It was a joke! I was offered $2000 from another jeweller only for the diamond ring.

In general, Scott (the owner) is arrogant and very dismissive...and without actually talking to me about the watch, very eager to get out of warranty work on my watch. I purchased a Ladys Presidential Gold Rolex from him and had to bring it back for repairs to be done under warranty. In a very short manner, he asked have you done a COA on it?. Whats that I ask. As if I should know this, curtly he replies Cleaned, oiled, adjusted. I told him that another store (where Id bought a ring) out of courtesy cleaned my watch and reset the time. Oh, well, I think your warranty is void. What, why?!? He said Because we dont trust other stores to open our watches. Well look at it. I had to clarify that they just set the time and cleaned the band; Reiners didnt open it. Dismissively again, Well look at it. It was a struggle just to ask when I could expect it to be ready to pick up. Im doubting that Ill get a satisfactory result. But they have my watch, so Im hoping. If when I return to pick up my watch and they treat me better, with some respect, and as a customer that spends $1,000 s, then Ill update this review.

If I could give a negative -0 I would. Horrible customer service. When you work in the customer service industry you don t talk to ppl the like they are lower than you. And if you want customers to continue on coming to you and to recommend your business you set that expectation. Only because you don t understand what a person is saying or because their language accent do not mean you get to speak to them rudely. I have 0 tolerance for ignorance and please believe you will have no business. So yesss I don t recommend if you plan on going to this jewelry shop, take your business else where.

He sent me detailed diagrams, suggestions on gem sizes, etc. He kept the piece under my budget and it turned out better than I could have ever hoped. Im a customer who is highly offended at the deceptive trade practices, poor client interface and lack of response to correct. I quickly developed an unsavory impression of their staff from the moment I walked in their door and later with the owner. I went to see J.T. Mack - he was quite proud he d been sizing rings for 44 years and assured me it would be perfect. I picked up the ring the next day and he bragged that it was even easier than he thought it was. I promptly gave him an $80 tip (I m sure he doesn t get many of those). I returned to the Philippines where I have a second home and was extremely disappointed to find out the ring was in fact a full size larger than I had instructed (and as per his measurement on the little steel sample size ring I brought with me) I stay busy and live overseas most of the time so coming back to get something corrected in not an option. I tried to get the gentleman who sized the ring on phone and had to deal with getting hung up on by their staff. And a second time to boot. Twice more the next day just for insisting kindly but firmly (as you don t get results being rude) on getting the name of the gentleman who serviced me. I thought surely the nice tip would earn me some points and get a solution in the works. To make matters worse, I left a long message on the owner s voicemail and never heard back. Okay, so I wasted $370.00 no big deal. But even worse is I find out from a jeweler in London the ring must be stripped down because he should have known better to size it in the first place! As I understand it, he (TJ Mack is his name) essentially took all of the wiggle room to effect a better solution one more expensive but logical. The jeweler, (London s best and has the Queen s warrant)¬¬¬¬ said they could not help me but indicated it was going to cost me at least $3,500 to correct his mistake! But wait, it gets better! I now have reason to believe that my diamonds were in fact changed out for lesser quality. I had a bad premonition on this and I even brought my certification with me to let them know that my $13,000 ring had been appraised. I cannot attest to the switch of diamonds but a jeweler here said they re not the same based on what he saw on the appraisal. I need to send it off for another G.E.M. but if I find out it is true, I will take legal matters into hand. And worse of all - My fiancé has had to walk around with a plastic wedge under her finger and does not have the confidence to open her hand (from a fist) to show her ring. I would think long and hard about doing business with someone who has exceedingly rude employees with the personality and ethics of a time share salesmen. What a disaster on every front.

We continue to use Houston Gold Exchange for all of our jewelry needs. Using diamonds from one of my belated grandmothers ring, they were able to create a brand new look for my wifes original wedding ring. Also, using the diamonds from my old wedding band (I hated it) and also leftover diamonds from my grandmother, they created a more modern look on the new wedding band I purchased. This band is so much more comfortable than my first one, which I purchased elsewhere. We run to them every time our watch batteries go out. They replace it while you wait and never over-charge. I was actually given my last battery for free. My mother also goes there for her jewelry needs now. You can expect to go in and see the same friendly faces year after year.

I went here recently to resize a bracelet/anklet. The links on this piece are particularly thick and oddly shaped, I was told before that after adjustment the piece may not stay on in the same way (instead of laying flat it may tilt to the side due to adjustment). However, Jordan did an amazing job and managed to keep the piece staying on the body in the same orientation as before adjustment. The work was done VERY quickly and I cannot even tell the piece was adjusted at all (except the fact that the size now fits). A real 5 start experience. On another note, while I was waiting for my piece to be resized, I was able to look around the store and saw a large selection of fine jewelry and watches, this is a spot I will definitely keep at the top of my list should the need arise for a purchase of such items.

I looked everywhere for a place that would be able to provide the specific antique style engagement ring that my girlfriend had described. What I found at Houston Gold Exchange was someone that really knows what they are doing. They worked with me and they were able to interpret my desires into precisely the ring I had pictured in my head. The ring is elegant with great attention to detail. Had a wonderful experience at this location. The owner helped us right away did not try to oversell us, provided us with the exact cut we were looking for and set it in our ring right on the spot. This is one of the first places I have been to that showed us the diamond under a microscope and was actually educated instead of just trying to make a sale. Very professional and I highly recommend this location before going anywhere else. This will now be our new jeweler and new place to go for any of our jewelry.

I went in to sell a piece of jewelry, Brad was very helpful and honest. He went above and beyond to explain and show me things about my jewelry. Additionally, I had them replace a diamond and clean my wedding rings. Brad showed me how I was able to lose a diamond and explained to me how he could fix it. I went to the location on Westheimer yesterday around noon and needed my ring cleaned and sized and my wife s ring was missing a stone as well. I talked with Jordan and he also made me aware that another stone was chipped. He quoted me price which l loved and told me he could have ready by Tuesday. I explained that my wife wanted both rings completed by Friday because we were going to a party and if he could make that happen he would be my hero. Well Jordan call me Friday morning around 10am stating both rings were ready to be picked up. I am a college student down the street: at the Houston Community College, Hayes rd campus.(down the street) And for a month I studied the value and current price for Silver and Gold. hoping to pay my Tuition for the upcoming semester. I recently took a bunch of Sterling Silver Of all sorts. Jewelry ,Silverware 48 pieces, Mint Julep Cups, Wine cups & etc. The dealer stated that they pay by weight and The weight was 113.00 ounces and he offered me 107.00. cash for one hundred and thirteen OUNCES of Sterling Silver. And said I would not get any more than that any where else. Why would you all Lie to Me but tell another Patron different. I felt Stereotyped and judged. BECAUSE OF MY RACE And further more I had to ask how much it weighed, and you all never told me how much you pay per gram or per ounce for silver. But yet you treated other Patrons differently. This is not the best place to bring your items, you may be judged as to where they came from. not how much it weighs and etc. I am a Native of Houston and YOU have Houston in front of your brand name; so it would be a better business etiquette to honor your title. I see why the parking lot in front of your business, Is always EMPTY. BAD BUSINESS DEALERS.

Brad is very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend anyone to go to The Houston Gold Exchange to buy nice jewelry or sell their old jewelry, purchase a Rolex or other high end watch. I would also recommend taking your jewelry and/or watch in for repairs. They have an in-house jeweler and a watchmaker. They are both great! This is the only place I take my jewelry to for repairs.

I brought in an antique gargantuan silver TAXCO swivel necklace that had broken on one of the 50+ swivels for repair. Jordan (master jeweler) repaired/soldered it with no problem. I cannot even tell where he did the repair. HIGHLY recommend.

My husband took in his Rolex to get repaired after it fell from our counter. The crystal (face) was replaced within an hour for about 15% of the cost I was getting at other locations. Thanks Brad

I have visited this place a couple of times with a client. I was quite pleased with the level of professionalism and compassion for their customers. My client is elderly and loves this location and how she is treated every time she has done business with them. They have even given her a discount with some services. Thanks Mr. Brad Schweiss and all of the excellent staff for all that you do to assist every customer who comes through your door!!!
