Space City Credit Union

I loved this branch office when it was Brazosport Teachers Federal Credit Union. As soon as Space City took over, everything went to hell. Some of my deposits didn't get posted. I started getting charged fees for the ATM. My $1000 truck payment was taken out of my account twice in one week. I couldn't get a human on the phone, nor could I reach the lovely people at the branch that I had worked with for so long. The only way I could get problems resolved was to drive 45 min to the branch and let them know in person. Then, it still sometimes took weeks and several trips to finally resolve the problem. I paid off or moved as many of my loans as possible. The one loan I couldn't seem to resolve, I put into a debt relief program so I could be rid of them. I renamed them the Space Cadets.

Wanted to open a couple of accounts for myself and my business. Thought it was great since most credit unions don't do business accounts. Here's to say this one shouldn't either. Monica Olivera the branch manager does not seem to have the proper knowledge to handle business accounts which was apparent after it took 5hrs for her to tell me she didn't know how to open the account. Went to another bank and got 2 accounts open in about 30min. They still have not taken my number off of their zelle log and i'm really not sure if they are keeping the account open for numbers but I wouldn't be surprised

Absolutely incompetent staff. I had to deal with an authorized charge to my account and the staff were completely unhelpful, not transparent at all about what the process would entail, and have been very very slow to rectify the problem. I have had to constantly follow-up with them and, at times, even catch their mistakes.

I would not recommend this bank to anyone.

I moved from JSC federal credit union and I could not regret it more. From opening the account to accessing the account it has been a nightmare. I held off making this review because the staff is nice but the service is a negative 10. Everything takes a tremendous amount of time and the software is very outdated. You need to call the bank for everything and they call you back during business hours which is while most of us are at work. Please be warned unless you have a lot of time on your hands this is not the back for you.

I like this credit union but I feel like they need some help in the drive thru lanes, it s atleast 20 min to get in and out on a deposit or withdraw also rates for auto loans are pretty high considering I have great history with the bank and keep a good amount with them.

I went here about a month ago to cash a check on a Saturday and they were super busy!! But everyone was so nice and attentive & helpful to me. I was able to cash my check, get my married name updated on my accts, etc. Jordan, Caprisa & Ollie you rock! Also the banker(I forgot her name) who assisted me with my name change rocks!!! Unprofessional staff with an attitude. Will play and keke with men who bank here with endless patience but can t be bothered to correctly input data and help other customers. Absolute worst bank I ve ever dealt with. They took over my original credit union & then removed online access to the credit card I have with them for many years. SERIOUSLY- I have to CALL to get my balance & amount due. I literally cannot access my account online at all. They said, their system only allows for their own SCCU cards. They literally apologize for that when I voice my concern. Yet, nothing changes. Really? Yet you bought the other credit union. That says to me I m not an important customer. They should ve converted the accounts to their card then. After 2 years of being patient. I m done. What a ruined long term relationship. I m transferring my balance & changing my direct deposit. Lost future business for them. We are buying a house in this year and we like some of their investment deals. But based on my experiences with them, there s absolutely no way I would trust them with anything like that! Whoooo thinks it s ok for a customer not to be able to access their own account?! Outrageous!!!

Prepared to experience problems, I was surprised by a soft transition and a notorious improvement in quality and friendly attention. If I could give this credit union a zero stars I would. They are always in a rush to get you out the door. They claim to have the best checking and savings account. If you are a day or two over the due date on loan or auto loans they lock your zelle, your debit card, and any other accounts. They need to do a better job at explaining these things off the back. My husband has been on the phone with them at least three times a week just to receive information that should have been provided to us first hand. You also cant use more then 6 transactions in 1 hour. So good luck paying bills or going on vacation. We will not be moving forward with them it is not worth the time nor my patients to deal with them. My auto loans and personal loans will stay but I refuse to spend so many hours every week trying to access my money. Also there loan officers do not pay attention to details. We received the wrong routing number do to her lack of paying attention to detail. It is a real headache. DO BETTER SPACE CITY!!

I m about to stop banking with them if they can t get their ATM situation under control at the Harrisburg location it either seems to always be out of order and now it s just completely gone leaving me without being able to deposit cash or withdraw cash when the bank isnt open. Another issue I constantly experience with them is problems with their online banking site. It never seems to fail, I can t login, even though my credentials haven t changed and I have to call them to reset everything

Edit: Loan officer contacted me and things progressed positively. Loan is secured and RV is being prepped. So I have changed my review from 1 star to 5 star. Thank you Laura. Second worst experience trying to get an RV loan. 3 weeks and never contacted. Left two messages. First worst experience was a year ago trying to buy an RV. Again, no response. They used to be a lot better.

SCCC customer service is the worse. I called to be proactive like I was advised by previous customer rep regarding a large transaction I was going to complete. I got transfer twice and I had to wait on hold to just be inform that they have decline my purchase and I would have to call again so funds to be release. What sense does that make?!? Rep assisted me on Monday but today no one can help. Let it make sense. I will be look for another bank.

Ive been with Space city for about a year and a half now , I can honestly say that today was the best service ive had since ive been a member with them. Amy and Lupita are the worst loan officers. Not only I was lied too, I have an email in writing that proves other wise. Amy and Lupita very unprofessional. I called looking for Amy and was told she was at lunch mind you this was 1:30. Was told she would return in 20min. Called back she was still at lunch and was told she would be back in a few min. I was put on hold for another 20min by Lupita. I had to hang up and call again. After I called the 3rd time now Lupita said that Amy was working my situation to get my car out of repo and again was put on hold for another 40min. Not until 45min later Amy called me back to speak to me. She told me that was that they didn t know the repo people service they contract have a detention Fee. Someone that works in a loan office for a while said they didn t know. You re kidding me right?? Mind you all this is on a recorded line, so all we have to do is go back to the recorded line. But the point is that Amy failed to mention that I would have to pay a detention fee. She said that her manager sent the email from her email also on a recorded line. Which she said she didn t send, but came from her email. Now she said I m being charged the fee on the error on their part and to be added to my Loan. She is the worst loan officer I ve delt with. Unprofessional and a liar. I have the phone calls and emails to prove it.

I truly hate the operation of this credit union. My credit union merged with Space City and trying to get assistance over the phone is ridiculous. There are layers of prompts and then it takes another 15 minutes before someone answers. Once they answer you spend 5 minutes or more trying to get them to understand why you are calling.My last encounter I asked for a letter for my account, she asked was I a member. They need to go back to having each branch answering their own calls. I have never in the 15 years in being with the Clute office had any issues, when I call. Calling is so bad I always have to go into the office.

I used to have all my personal and business banking needs with a known bank and never felt welcome. At Space City CU I feel welcomed every single time me and my wife step into the bank. They Always make sure everything looks good in the accounts and always answer all my questions. From the Teller line to Member services everyone is great. Riley, Eddie and Laura are very knowledgeable in their departments and always go out of their way to help. Thank You Space City and Staff my Family and I appreciate your hard work.

Visited the location and waited over 20 minutes to be assisted to obtain a new debit card, note my name was asked (3) times to sign me in with no other customers in the lobby. I left after 30 minutes, a bit ridiculous!

I have to share a really bad experience. I have been with Space City Credit Union 6 years. So just recently I went to Space City to open up a business account, they totally denied me a business account with no reason - manager could not provide me with a reason. In my experience and my opinion- the people there don t have customer service. They all walk around with there nose in the air. Stuck up not friendly at all. They never make eye contact with anyone in the lobby. I have never once felt welcomed there. Space city just lost a valuable customer - their loss. My business went to Truist on Harrisburg, I literally got my business account in 30 minutes. With Space City they had me going back and forth for like a month or two and all that work just to get denied. Anyway I have to brag about Truist, Walter is the manager there, as soon as you enter the bank he makes you feel welcomed, once you become a customer and go in the lobby, he personally greets you and he will remember your name. He is really there for the community, for the people. Truist on Harrisburg really have the best, caring people on earth.

My experience with the merger has been absolutely horrible! It takes hours to speak to a representative. Once someone answers the help is limited are not at all. I personally believed the merger was to fast and after being a member of the Brazosport Credit Union for 40 plus years I feel frustrated and very unhappy with the merger! I had to drive to the branch to get members services to help me, however being there was well worth it Amy Gutierrez was super nice and knowledgeable She went out of her way to help me ! Also she help my friend over the phone, which she had been calling for day waiting on her turn and phone going dead after someone had finally answer , she went thru that for days ! Laura in the loan department is absolutely amazing! I have received three loans with Space City (each time Laura assisted with the loans) She has ALWAYS gone above and beyond! I have banked with a few banks and I must say Space City tops them all!! Laura thank you so much for all of your help throughout the loan process. I recently applied fora second car loan which was approved the same day! I found a vehicle a few days later and Laura had funds transferred to the dealership within 15 mins of me signing paperwork! I recently received help from Andrea S. In the loan department and she was very helpful in helping me finance a vehicle. Andrea kept in contact even after Space City hours which was very helpful since it was my first time financing a vehicle by myself. I am very thankful for space city. Also I d like to point out that Eddie was super helpful in my purchase as well. I cannot sign into their website for some reason... no security code comes to my email, password no longer works for some WEIRD REASON (probably something they have done) AND BEWARE, you must ask their permission every time you want to use YOUR MONEY (yeah, ridiculous, I know). Then I get this letter dated 9/30 in the mail TODAY 10/7, so I have 3 days to pay them $3.88... petty, verrrry veryyy petty especially since a lot of money was about to get deposited in there and if it does get deposited and they keep me from accessing it then I will be hiring a lawyer

I have been a member of Space City Credit Union for 20+ years. I have always had exceptional service. Just wanted to share a recent experience with Manuel Quintanilla Sr. Member Service Rep. He resolved a debit card issue that I was experiencing with the utmost professionalism. He listened to my concerns and promptly resolved them. He is courteous and focused on customer needs. Giving a 5 star rating only because of Paula Newkirk. Applied for an auto loan (probably 3rd or 4th loan in 10 years). Called and spoke with loan person and got lots of excuses of why he didn t work on getting loan done. Made several promises but still didn t get it done. Finally got in touch with Paula and she got it done same day.

I love this CU. Of course, Im young (relatively) and I dont have experience with other Credit Unions, but I do have experience with Wells Fargo. It makes me wonder why people waste their money with real banks. This credit union has served me well. Also, I hope they keep giving me free pens and calendars :) It would also be nice if they had a stock investment department. but they do have options for investments in savings.

I normally dont like to write negative reviews, but positive ones, However I was left disappointed and frustrated of how SCCU works. I was turned down because they couldnt find my REAL address in the system and they dont accept my REAL, OFFICIAL AND LEGAL documents which have been issued by the United States of America by the Government. Either I talked to an inexperienced bank teller or their system do not work properly. They kept me on waiting for more than one month for proof of residence to turned me down at the end. Unfair and unprofessional. 2 stars because I wish i had talk to Ms. Karla for a better explanation instead of Ms. Jazmine. For the future clients, I hope you think it twice before doing businesses with them. Lesson learned for me.

Go to Lyana she gots your back, she went the extra mile, Got to the point, and she explain everything detail by detail the process was easy. I have been a member here for 15 years, However, after time all things fade. This was a great institution but now a days they are nickle and diming us to death due to greed. you should focus on what made you a great institution and go back to what worked. I think I can speak for all members on the fact that we are not interested in making your fat cat share holders fatter due to greed. we are the ones that keep you in business and you should think about that.
