Shell used be a great place to bank but they’ve gotten less and less accommodating through the years. We just experienced a natural disaster and they will not provide loan extension on my car loan and force me to use skip-a-pay, which ultimately voids your gap insurance after 5 during life of the loan. My best friend who also has a loan with them AND has only ever used one skip-a-pay was granted an extension even though she confirmed to me she has 4 available. And Shell also confirmed to her she has 4 available. I guess they pick and choose who to grant services to and I’m about to move all my stuff over to a different bank.

When I actually need the money during Hurricane Beryl recovery they refuse to wave the cancelation fee despite it explicitly being allowed to for emergencies, such as a natural disaster. Instead they decided to offer me disaster assistance loans. This is not only flat out insulting but refusing to give me money and instead offering a loan reeks of disaster profiteering. This is not a community focused bank, when a disaster hits Harris County these people don't see members of their community struggling, they see walking bags of money to profit off of. I will have to eat the fees because I have no other choice, but I will be closing my account and moving to a different bank to never deal with such a horrible bank of disaster profiteers ever again. I grew up in Deer Park and my family largely banked with Shell Federal for decades and does to this day, however I'll be discussing with them all about this disaster profiteering.

She’ll FCU cash back plus is not a good service! The gift cards will go into pending for 3 days and you’re stuck without any resolution. No gift card, money transferred from account, and customer service can’t fix it. **Beware Cashback + doesn’t work well at all! Don’t buy plane tickets you’ll be stuck paying twice as much as if you would just pay full price!!! Side note their phone customer team needs some retraining on proper phone etiquette when a customer has concerns!!

I can agree that in the past 9 years we haven't (always) received phenomenal customer service but SFCU has always worked with us and been there when we needed them. Today we had to call and chat about our car payment and getting the skip a pay applied to our current months payment and the next & Jose C. took care of everything we needed within an hour! Now my husband can recover with more relief knowing our car payment is taken care of for the next 2 months. Thank you SFCU for always going above and beyond for us and making things right anytime there's been a mistake or error. Not all customer service reps are great ones because not all people are great honestly, but Shell really got it right with putting Jose Calvillo in the position to assist their customers. Your service was 10/10 today and me and my husband sincerely appreciate all your help today. May SFCU Deer Park & all it's employees continue to thrive and grow!! 💖🙏🏼 Especially you Jose! 😉

Great bank but the idea of asking for permission on how use use my Zelle and what im spending my money on is beyond absurd and ridiculous. You have to call and state what you’re spending your money on and wait for them for a Zelle approval on your money. Moving banks soon

Words can not express my disappointment after referring a friend to Shell FCU for a mortgage. After getting the details of my friends visit, I found the SFCU behavior unprofessional and inexperienced. My aunt retired from Shell in Deer Park, lived in the area, and prior to her death, kept all her funds with SFCU. I would remind SFCU that everyone has a boss or is regulated by the NCUA, and that will be my next contact with the details. Clearly their is a big problem at SFCU based on these reviews, so time for oversight is overdue. What an embarrassing situation for me and my Aunt would have removed her money immediately and shared her concerns at the refinery. Shame on yall!

Customer service has gone completely down the toilet in the last year or two, and the dispute department is the absolute worst. If youre ever in a position where you may need to dispute a charge because the merchant didnt provide the product that you paid for, dont use your Shell debit card. Theyll just tell you that there isnt anything they can do (which is 100% inaccurate) and that its a legal matter which you need to pursue on your own. As if they expect you to take Google or Amazon to small claims court.

Literally the worst bank! I always have problems with this branch (Deer Park). I can go to any other branch and they treat me well and help me as needed. I ve had enough with DP branch, I went in to deposit/cash a check (which was their check) and I was waiting for a good 10mins for the young lady to figure out about cashing it. Then she comes back and says she has to put a hold on it. When I told her why it s y all s check she and other employees laughed about the situation. I m honestly not too sure what was so funny. I don t know who they have running this branch, but their needs to be better staff training and better management!

Very poor communication. I came in today because I was advised over the phone on Friday, that I would need to visit a branch to follow-up on my new membership application. Was assisted by Zoe when I came in to the branch, she was adamant that she spoke with me over the phone, stating we had discussed that they would be only opening a savings, and that I would need two forms of ID and proof of address. I was baffled throughout the conversation, until she stated that we discussed about using auto insurance bill as proof of address. I explained to her that, that conversation did not occur with whomever I spoke with over the phone the day prior. I agree credit unions offer great rates, but it s very saddening these credit unions like to boast about providing exceptional service when it clearly the opposite most of the time. Will be taking my business to the competition in the area, just wasted my time and gas coming here.

Today I tried to enter a company in bill pay. Company provided their address but Shell Credit Union bill pay would not recognize the address and would not allow me to pay the company. Contacted Shell customer service and no help. Shell customer service reached out to the bill pay company (outsourced third party) and no help. What I was told by both customer service and bill pay (third party) was to contact the company and verify the address. I informed the customer service that I had already contacted the company and verified the address. Customer service said there was nothing they or bill pay could do. I get this type of service from Shell Federal Credit Union a lot. When Shell had only one location and was a much smaller company, the service was 10 times better than it is now. I would strongly suggest not using Shell Federal Credit Union and find a smaller credit union that is more concerned helping its customers than trying to get more customers. Just knowing that Shell loans millions of dollars every month and in return makes a lot of money to put in parking garages with large walk ways (none like it in Pasadena or Deer Park) instead of truly trying to support and help their customer base. The credit union has lost their appetite for customer service. When I opened my account in 1992 the credit union had one location and very friendly staff with great customer service. Today, its a totally different story. Ill look elsewhere to do my banking. Everything you do with them, its loke pulling your teeth or hair out. Have a great day!

Since becoming a member this year, I have been very happy with this institution. Every interaction has been very positive and their staff has always bent over backward to assist in any way possible. Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Angelica who treated me like a priority with rapid responses and great information to get my applications approved and processed with very little lag time. I cannot recommend this credit union enough.

UPDATE NO ONE EVER CALLED TO REACH OUT BEEN OVER A MONTH! ITS ALL AUTOMATED RESPONSE! I ve always used the courtesy pay which comes in handy when I need it. I ve always paid it back on time but ONE TIME I paid it like a day or 2 late I get threatened with shutting down my checking account and then they took it away from me putting me on 60 day probation! I ve always called them to let them know it ll be paid. Was always transparent with them! I have a steady job steady income every 2 weeks my checks deposit. Yet I m punished for being a little late and stripped of that offer! Stay away from this bank not who they used to be! I ll be looking for another bank!

Before this review I had only put a one star before. I had the worse customer service person at the Shell Credit Union. But since then I have opened an account now and saving my money to hopefully buy a newer car than the one I have. I am working on my credit score right now I have it only to 560 I am getting there. I am 71 and disabled that Covid got me and I got behind on my bills. I am getting there though. My dream car is a 2003 Ford Thunderbird. I found one for 14,000 dols only 58,000 miles. I have a 2009 hyundai sonata with few miles on it I am hoping to trade in. I been dreaming of the Thunderbird for a long time. I just hope they dont sell it before I can get my credit score back up.

My experiences have been so so, but i think today solidfied that i will be moving on as soon as possible Me and the amazing loan officer came up with a great plan to create quite a bit of debt relief with my loans, as i pawned almost all of my valuables when i was laid off in 2021, to stay current on my loans to SFCU, it would have actually saved me well over $900, and given me alot of room to make double or triple payments. Unfortunately, the underwriting staff would rather i refinance my auto, raise my interest by at least 3x times, and raise my auto payment. Im not even near the banking world, and that makes no financial sense coming from a bank under writer. Ill be moving on to another bank that would actually like to help their members than put them farther in the hole. Shell use to be a great bank, pretty much unbeatable, but they have fallen far from who they used to be.

several business accounts I have had here for years. They hold every single check deposited stating since these are new checks ... we of course its never been deposited here its a business account and we get new customers weekly. Horribke bank to have a business account here with. Allegiance Bank is the way to go for a business.

I deposited a check and they flagged it as fictitious. I called to ask for the reason. They said they made a mistake and asked me to deposit it again. I asked if they can remove the hold and they said no they will still honor the hold. I will be waiting 2 weeks for my check to deposit.

I would like to commend RANDI ALVAREZ at the deer park location for her FANTASTIC, OVER THE TOP service she recently provided to me in regards to my auto loan! She went out of her way to help me & even stayed on the phone with me for about an hour when I went to visit the dealership and was getting the run around. She was there throughout the whole process with me over the phone explaining everything & had my back!!! She EXCELLED in her service & I praise her for being AMAZING & also SHELL FCU for hiring employees like herself because she really had my best interest in mind the whole time and came to my defense! FCSR Michael has great customer service and was fast to open my account. As for the tellers I think there is a lack of enthusiasm and take a long time making a straight delposit. Tellers are the face of the branch and should communicate effectively. I think not using a mask is a disadvantage because we can see that you are not smiling. Five stars because I believe in second chances but will update. The. Fcsr was the star today. Update: I apologize and take it back because smiling sincere and being at peace is not within us if we have not received the purest love there is Jesus Christ the Lord of not second chances but many chances for us to surrender our life to Him may He soften your heart and open your eyes that when he touches you you say yessss

At first it seemed like a great thing to refiance our 2020 SUV The interest rate was good etc. Well months into the refi we get hit on our credit report for an additional almost 7000 for not having insurance. That was not the case. Ryan Brown did not verify that our VIN number was correct so they assumed that we didnt have insurance and the vin was wrong. How does this happen months after the refi I made 4 calls for Ryan left 4 messages and sent emails NO REPSONSE NONE> I was told he still worked there He never responded They ruined our credit!! Never did I get one call, It took over a week to fix I finally got someone to admit it was their fault but no real apology Today I got the same letter. I am so disgusted with the lack of professionalism This institution is a joke to the Banking Industry.

This credit union is the most inconsiderate organization I have ever known about. My brother was a member and recently passed very suddenly and was young. He had a car financed through them along with a checking and savings account. My brothers first car note was due on 04/11/2021 and he passed away on 04/08/2021 however the payment was auto drafted out of the account and they received their first payment. My brother had not been buried more than 3 days and they called wanting to come pick up the car. I understand that you are a business and business must go on but the payment was made and not late so technically it had been paid for that month so there was no need to contact a grieving family and make arrangements so bluntly. If that was not bad enough they wiped out his checking and savings account for a loan that his family had no idea about and they would not discuss with us and they said they cant due to him being deceased and I asked them how do you know he passed well we were notified by the social security office. I told them sir the social security office does make mistakes and they have reported people being deceased when they were not so again how do you know he is deceased where is your proof that he is deceased. I know you dont have the death certificate because his family does not have it at this time so please explain how you removed 8k out of his accounts with no legal proof of his passing. They could not answer that questions or explain how that was appropriate. I feel like this organization has robbed my brother and in fact was very inconsiderate to the situation and I would never ever give them my business. It is sad enough that a family is grieving that you have to add to the pain as well and oh I really loved the fact that I was told that he did not hold up to his obligation to his loan last time I checked a deceased person did not have an option on staying on this earth to make good on a loan and to make it sound like he was not responsible and did not take care of his obligations is offensive. I would like to warn people of this organization before you think about placing your trust in them!!!!!! I would love to rate this place below 0 because I think they are no better than the dirt people walk on.

Just for personal reasons I dont want my identity shown , But this is the worst customer service I ever gotten from a bank, If I could give 0 stars I would. I work at a dealership and had a question about a customer and how to send their information, the female I was working with I couldn t tell if she was the receptionist or in loan was very rude. That wasn t professional at all and if I were to ever recommend this bank I wouldnt and I to myself have a account with them that I might just cancel. As a dealer agent I wont be recommending shell federal credit union to another customer again.

I ve been with shell for a while now and think overall it s a great bank. I will agree the customer service in the branch locations is a whole lot better than calling over the phone. For some reason when you call your branch you bank at the call redirects to deer park? Absolutely horrible idea. There s been a few calls where I had to look at my phone and say to myself. This person on the phone represents the institution where my hard earned money goes? Wow. I will say this. After my last few conversations over the phone with employees from deer park in regards to my very delayed and lost credit card. I was very close to looking for a new place to bank except when I spoke to Jason. He showed great customer service. He reordered my card and had it shipped to the branch for me to pick it up within a few days. It s because of employees like him that keeps loyal customers like me. I d go as far as to even say he should train the other people who answer the phone there. Especially if shell continues to send the other branches calls to deer park.

We have been using Shell for years and so do many of our friends and family. The debit cards they give you fall apart quickly. Also there is no after hours care for emergencies. 3 times now weve gone out of town (not far just a few hours away) and they have shut our cards off without warning. They left us stranded in another city with only the cash we had and no way to access our money, and after an hour we finally got through to another line who said they cant help us till the main branch opens 3 days later. Luckily we were with a friend who could loan us enough cash to get through the weekend or we would have been screwed. They also lock my debit card if I pay more than one bill in a day. There are better banks and FCUs around, do research first. Another negative is sometimes I will check and my account will randomly be negative (which can add a $25 fee) so I transfer more money in, only to find out it was never negative in the first place and all the money was still there. They are supposed to take money from the savings if youre overdrawn in checking, but they didnt a few times and charged me a fee for money I DID have.

Ive been banking with Shell FCU for years. I switched after being so tired of Wells Fargos fines, penalties, restrictions, and overall terrible customer service. I havent had a single problem at Shell FCU since I became a member. Their app is awesome, the employees are all incredibly nice, and I havent had any kind of fee since. I dont think Ill ever leave Shell!

Went in for a personal loan to update our AC unit in our home that went out and from beginning to end Shell Federal Credit Union was amazing. Kim and Johanna were very helpful and professional in helping my wife and I in getting our loan. Ricky the manager also came by and greeted us and cheked if everything was ok. My wife and I had a GREAT experience here at SFCU, we will defiently be doing more business with SFCU in the future.

Sick and Tired of this place. Ive been a member here since 1998, I have 700+ credit score, all my bills/credit cards get paid in full early every month, paid our house off in 5yrs and I just got turned down again for an auto loan. Evrything I have financed has had to be through another bank. There has been ZERO benefits for me having an account here. If I didnt have a job and didnt pay my bills I would probably get better service here. Im changing banks!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EXPERIENCED AT ANY BANK. I went to shell to consolidate a credit card and a loan. I had the payoff for the loan and the credit card sent to the loan office and then she only put in for a credit card with a 3000$ limit and it got approved. Great! Problem is I needed 900$ more than that!!!! So I figured Id put in for a credit line increase and that was 2 weeks ago, I call every few days and they tell me someone will call me back in 20-30 minutes. They wont even tell me if its approved or not and as of now I owe them AND the bank I have the loan through so now Im worse off than I started. Thanks Shell FCU! *update* my limit was finally increased but still no one called to tell me. Took forever and way more frustration and run around then should be necessary but at least it got done.

Absolutely wonderful staff and very helpful tips with the new transition I appreciate your concern in keeping my safety first in banking at Shell. I would rather have updates that secure my safety and have one step ahead of those who would find it easy to steal. I have never had an issue with Shell and If there was one it was because of not being computer savvy! my fault. Thank you again for showing me the new process and keeping my money safe! Oh and by the way keep your yelling and cursing outside or at the bar not interested in your inmature way of dealing with issues, yelling at the staff, really? try learning a little bit more skills and patience.

This bank is horrible. I have been trying to get into my account for several days and it doesnt work and nobody answers the phone. Dont use this bank. I would rather use coffee cans in my back yard.

Good for loans and the people are nice but if you have any problems after business hours you are out of luck. They have no way to be reached if you have an emergency with your account you have no options.

Ive been with SFCU for a few years, I have never had an issue with them and the drive thru is always friendly and helpful , when I call in customer service is A++, I never have a long phone wait . I will be looking for a personal loan in the near future and this is where I will go.

They keep changing the terms and keep passing you to each other when they mess up. I have been contacted by 3 agents for a very simple loan application and after 2 months still in progress!!!! If you need money and its urgent, youre looking at the wrong place!!

No good ,not willing to fix there mistakes They emailed me telling me to pick up my check from this location and and when I reached there after an hour drive told me I cant pick it up Here it had to be mailed and I had to pay for the overnight shipping Never use them!!!!!
