We are Neighborhood Credit Union, the oldest credit union in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Unlike traditional banking institutions, our goal is not to make a profit from our customers. As a not-for-profit organization, we are in the business of helping people achieve their short and long-term financial goals for their families. THE WORST CREDIT UNION EVER! They automatically block your card without notifications. Not once but twice has their member management department automatically blocked my card. A HUGE inconvenience because each time fell on a holiday and they were closed but magically closed my card. Im unable to use my card until Tuesday. They claimed the first time this happened it was a bad chip. Well you sent me a whole new card and the same thing!!! Im beyond livid as I cant access my catd until Tuesday. You shouldnt be able to block someones card when the department is closed

Very upset. They decided to pend my direct deposited paycheck through this holiday weekend. It was sent Thursday. Its Labor Day and still pending and not added to my account balance. Ive worked for this company for 7 months. No problem. Now, all of a sudden, issues. My rent was due on the 1st, BTW. SERIOUSLY want to close my account because of this. I forgave them for not calling me back when I signed up to be in queque for customer service a couple of weeks ago. Now, theyre on vacation and Im sitting here until tomorrow at 9 when I can speak to someone. Unbelievable. Im sure they got their paychecks on time. I consider this a serious and major fail by this credit union.

Jessica Medina-Rodriguez: I m really grateful for the help Jessica provided. My brother passed away 2 months ago and life kept throwing me curve balls to deal with. I Uber for a month and I finally got a car with the help from Jessica s. Later that day the car key fob wasn t working. I called the dealership and reported the issue; they said it might be a battery issue. I went to the dealership the next day. They told me I couldn t drive it due to mechanical and other issues. They tried switching me to a different car with a higher price and A.P.R. Jessica gave me a better deal and fought for me. She even stayed past 5pm which is her closing time to settle the car issue . I walked in to the lobby several months ago in need of opening a bank account promptly. It was almost closing time and was greeted very cordially. After a short explanation of my reason to have an account opened by the next day, The lobby staff ,ERIC RUIZ, helped me to open an account right at that moment, and we were out before closing time. Where to even begin? Marco Hinojosa is knowledgeable, prompt, and professional. I started my relationship with him and NCU a couple of years ago, and I always seem to go back! He takes care of my needs, educates me while doing so, to ensure I am getting the most benefit and has allowed me to reach financial goals. I have been able to grow my credit score with their savings program, which taught me how to save and budget. I was able to recommend him to a loved one and helped them with refinancing and saving, and I was able to purchase a brand new vehicle with a competitive interest rate! As for the cherry on top, I have been able to save more with NCU generous incentives!! It is so clean, so peaceful, and what really warms the place is the smiles from all the friendly staff! I had the amazing pleasure of finalizing my checkings account with Ashley Daniels. Have been with Neighborhood since Pegasus merged with them quite a while ago. They have some of the best checking account rates (KASASA, 4% annual) if you can satisfy the requirements. Thats on a checking account! I was also recently able to get my new debit card at the agency on the spot. Great service. Also, a big shout out to Jayme Garcia, who has always helped me with any issues I run into throughout all these years. She is one of the main reasons I am still with NCU. Overall I recommend NCU as a reliable Credit Union.

On Monday I contacted Neighborhood Credit to see if I may qualify and I must say, Veronica Lee brought me to tears with the miracle that she worked! I have been a costumer with NCC for several years now and have not had problem until now. I contacted the Customer Service Department for a $34 fee charged to my account. I asked for a one time courtesy adjustment since there is no upfront disclosure to indicate that a fee would be charge to place a stop on a Zelle transaction. The transaction did not go through immediately. It would take 2 to 3 days. But, I was informed in a non-friendly manner no and that they did not mind losing me as a customer. I am currently closing my accounts. I do not want to do business with a company that charges extreme fees for a service that other banks or credit unions generally provide at no cost.

From the moment I walked in and was greeted right away by one of the tellers, to having everything wrapped up and taken care of, I was SO impressed!! I recently applied for a checking account at Neighborhood Credit Union, seeking convenience due to its proximity to my new city residence. However, the experience turned out to be disappointing and frustrating. Despite having long-standing accounts with other major credit unions and banks without any issues, I was unexpectedly denied for the Cash Back Checking account. Instead, Neighborhood Credit Union offered me a Fresh Start Checking account which comes with a $20 monthly fee, supposedly for individuals needing to prove their financial reliability. This was bewildering as my credit and banking history, verified through appropriate systems, demonstrate my reliability without a doubt. The manager, after some delay, informed me they could not disclose the reasons for my denial, citing privacy policies. This lack of transparency about their approval process and the insinuation that I needed to prove my credit worthiness over six months felt insulting. It seemed as if they were questioning my financial management without any valid reason. It s worth noting that this decision came from corporate, not a local branch, which suggests a systemic issue within the organization. The entire ordeal has left a sour taste, and it s clear their processes lack the transparency that should be standard in financial services. Their website doesn t accurately reflect the hoops one might have to jump through, which is misleading. I don t usually leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience to inform others. I will not be applying at this credit union again, and I advise potential customers to look for institutions that value and respect all clients equally. This one certainly did not meet that standard in my case. And, from the looks of the other negative comments about this company. I dodged a bullet!

I did not look at the reviews of this credit union before I became a member, I should have. save your time and money and put it elsewhere anywhere else. Since I have been a member, I have had my Zelle privileges frozen from Zell to my wife. I have had fees for not having electronic statements which I m Sure I signed up for. i ve had checks held for seven days and I ve had overdraft that I paid off immediately because it was an accident (used wrong card) come to find out I was charged 35 dollars I ve never seen such a fast overdraft fee usually you have till the end of the day to pay it off. For a non profit institution they sure are making profit by nickel and dime ing their members. Please read the reviews before trusting them to handle your money!!!!!! Will be switching institutions asap.

Worst credit union EVER! Beware. Going downhill fast. Outsourcing calls to call inadequate centers with language barriers. Closing ATMs permanently. No more personal loans. Inconvenient business hours. Closed on weekends. Terrible phone prompts, not user friendly at all. It just send you in circles when trying to get a real person other than a Mexican call center. Nothing against Mexico. Just terrible credit unions that Masquerade as legitimate financial institutions.

I m very disappointed with this entire credit union not this location. First you have to call the call center to talk to someone you can t call any of the branches. Second they do maintenance to their online banking every week so you never know when the app is working or not until you log on. They will also charge you overdraft fees at the same time you have a direct deposit posting to your account and they claim they can only reimburse 1 per their relationship policy even if you have the money. Save your time and money and invest in finding you a better institution who ACTUALLY takes care of your financial needs because this one DOES NOT.

This credit union is awful. They rejected my direct deposit from a new job for some unexplained reason, then when I the only option I had was to mobile deposit the check, they held my paycheck hostage for over a week to the point that I missed rent and all my bills. They were inflexible for no good reason, refusing to be helpful. Use at your own risk.

I had a few issues that needed to be resolved; Natalie was patient and courteous. She ensured that she understood my needs, then she contacted IT to confirm how to resolve the matter(s) and walked me through each step until all were completely resolved. I can t get over the horrible customer service from this business, during the loan approval process Bassy never answered or returned phone calls, now Fred transferring me to the wrong person then getting an attitude when I call back and saying well there s nothing we can do! Hopefully his supervisor Brad will call me back and be able to give me a positive experience for once.

Great bank during the good times but if life hits you they refuse to help....personalized banking is a joke not to mention ridiculous fees every chance they get...moved my major banking to Capital One...minimizing my use of My Neighborhood credit account.

The worst bank you can deal with. Ive been a member for 5 years, and needed a new bank card so went into the Prosper location to obtain one. Card had to be ordered and it takes 14 days to get it. Im still waiting after 8 days and if I choose to drive to the Dallas location for an immediate card Ill be charged 8.00. They offer absolutely nothing to their members. There is really no point of banking here. My phone call was literally the banker telling me what she couldnt do for me!! Too many competitive banks to stay with a credit union. My money is my choice.

My mother has had accounts at Neighborhood Credit Union for 30+ years. She had notification of her CD was about to reach maturity. When arriving at the facility we were notified that her account had been closed and her money turned over to the state. She received no notice that this had taken place and the explanation given by Neighborhood seemed far less than truthful. Neighborhood Credit Union did not do there due diligence in this matter and one can t help but wonder about the legality of something like this. If this is something that is even remotely possible of happening to a long standing customer, I would certainly think very seriously about doing business with Neighborhood Credit Union.

I set up an appointment to have some important papers notarized. I set the appointment for my lunch hour, received a reminder from the bank for the appointment, & when I arrived this afternoon I was advised the Duncanville location does not have a notary. This is POOR customer service. If this location did not have a notary, then why was the website not updated, & why allow auto reminders to be sent to customers. Spoke with a rude representative from neighborhood credit union by the name of Jennifer from the corporate office (so she says). She wouldn t give me her last name but she was with the disputes department. I wanted information about my account and all she was doing was chastising me like I was one of her kids or a employees she supervises. I m a customer not kid or a employee of yours. Jennifer was being very rude and talking ALL over me. She acted as if she was agitated because of my issue. I asked her repeat not to talk to me in a tone as if I were one of her kids and were in trouble for doing something wrong again. Again, She got loud and talked over me. Very very aggressive and demanding tone. Nothing about Jennifer was pleasant for her to be a superior or a representative of your company. I ve Never had a problem or issue with neighborhood but now I see why they have such bad ratings on customer service related issues. I bank with other banks as my main and I ll continue to do that. Jennifer needs more customers service training or if she s upset or having a bad day maybe she should avoid taking phone calls. Rude, unpleasant tone and definitely needs more coaching As stated before I don t have a problem with your policy. I m now aware and I understand fully. Again, My problem was with your representative Jennifer s delivery and tone. I felt personally attacked while speaking with her on the phone. No matter what the bank policy is no one should be spoken to in a unprofessional and unpleasant tone. Cash app has nothing to do with Jennifer s choice of words or behavior when representing NCU.

Came here to get an instant card since mine was stolen. 24 hours after the card was issued; there was a fraudulent charge. Called and they told me I had no other option than to cancel the card then go get another one or wait 7-10 business days to receive one in the mail. Told them I would wait since I didn t trust the instant cards anymore. 10 days later, still nothing. So I called and was told my old card was cancelled but a new one wasn t even ordered. Does that make sense to anyone?! Then the representative stated again, Would you like to go get an instant card or wait 7-10 business days? with no empathy. Might just end up closing my account and going to another credit union because this is just ridiculous.

I recently met and worked with the new Branch Mgr. (Rebecca) at the Campbell Rd. location....she was awesome! Pleasant, most helpful, and very professional. This branch would warrant SIX stars if the grading system would allow. However, one major gripe totally unrelated to the Branch and directed at Top Management is directly responsible for my overall rating. Not everyone wants to converse with robot Nick nor listen to him type on his fake keyboard at the beginning of the new automated message....and not everyone enjoys chatting with someone on line. The last (3) times I have called the only Customer Assistance number available, the wait time has been between 30 - 45 minutes to reach a live assistant.....COVID may have been a legit excuse for this months ago, but not now. These hold times are very unprofessional, as is trying to force people into conversing with Nick....quit trying to be cute, and just do whatever it takes to rectify this situation.

Came into my credit union for a cashiers check and was told its at $7 transfer fee! Ive been needed a cashiers check in sometime everythings done electronically. But $7?? Im not sure if switching Credit Unions was such a good idea, only problem with mine was I couldnt stop in and use the lobby. Stop in the lobby here and they bend you over!! I was corrected you can get a free cashiers check as long as its over $5,000. No Im not buying a house no Im not needing a down payment on my car. I just want to pay my rent

I absolutely love this Credit Union. Coming from a place of being irresponsible and young and messed up my credit, I couldn t get a checking account. I was able to join Neighborhood Credit Union and get the second chance checking account and was able to transition to a regular account after a year. As someone who s been with NCU for quite some time, it s nice to see familiar faces whenever I do have the chance for a in person visit. Elena and Louie are always so courteous and kind, it s hard to stay in a bad mood when they get the opportunity to help you! Many better options out there. Always a long wait when you call to speak with a person about your account. It took over 30 minutes this last time. This was our LAST time calling as I had plenty time to apply to open a new account at another credit union online while they kept me waiting, and when they did finally answer my call, I asked them to close our account and send us our money.

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! You would think credit unions should be more personalized and easier to accommodate your needs but this is by far the worse credit union to do business with! Ruth, was very rude! Her customer service isn t to help her customers but to simply get them off the line! I told my concerns more than once and she was basically like oh well have a great day. That hurt my heart because with everything going on you would think people would be a little more compassionate and understanding and helping. Ruth I hope you never have to deal with one as yourself. To make matters worse 577.00 of my stimulus was taken and no option to refund or receive a portion!

NCU has good CD interest rates for today s low markets, convenient locations, and great hours. When I needed help opening an account, Luis Arreola made things so easy for me. He had all the paperwork ready to go, was professional, organized, thorough, and gracious, and everything was taken care of easily within minutes. NCU is extremely Covid conscious and even has a drive thru where you can speak to a representative via a camera. On Thursday 2/27, Elena Longoria in the main office assisted me in resetting my on-line banking account. When I told her I was considering moving my money in the Prize Savings Account to another institution due to low interest rates, she suggested I keep the money in the Neighborhood CU, and transfer most of it to the High Yield Savings at a very good rate. The ROACH MOTEL of credit unions: they are eager to take your money, but dont let you have it back. Their check cashing limit is a joke, limited to $500 per day, and they run you through hoops just to get at your own money. I wanted to purchase some furniture from Craigslist, but would have needed to make THREE trips to the credit union to get the cash. RIDICULOUS! Terrible customer service.

Customer service is great, however today the app said it would down for maintenance and online services would be down till sunday, the problem is it said NOTHING about my debit cards not working in stores my wife went to the store to buy a few things and our her card got declined, Neighborhood credit union do you have any idea how embarrassing that is??? Why only one person running drive thru during busy hours? Husband had a deposit ready to go and end up waiting 15mins or more if he didnt ask what was going on. Found out the poor girl was by herself running both drive thru and the front. Wait time in drive thru shouldnt take that long. That is why people choose to go instead of waiting in long lines.

I used to have this credit union back when I was 14 but left after 7 years. Finally returned again at age 34. Too many fees. After my account went dormant, my fees were charged off and account closed. I called to resolve this and was told it would be removed from my credit after payment in November 2018. Here it is February 2019 and its still there. Reached out and left several messages to collections and cant get an answer to save my life. Definitely gotta submit a credit dispute to get the item removed. This credit union is not what it used to be and I wont return in the future or recommend them to anybody.

I am not impressed. The customer service or what they offer is not impressive. They seem incompetent half of the time. They dont communicate very well. Dont answer the phone or return calls either. Camille is rude. Tracy never answers her phone. TIna and Lauren are ok. Also, their warranty services dont cover a lot although they will tell you upfront it does. Customer service is not open on the weekend only the branch and the website is confusing to review your accounts.

Ill never use this bank ever again. Woman on the phone was not useful at all. I signed up for a card that would not go over what I have on my card. A nice staff but unfortunately not very bright when helping customers with applying for loans and opening checking accounts. They take take you to an office and leave the door wide open. The customers sitting in the waiting area can hear all the personal information the bank employee is asking you. Then the bank employee repeats your personal information out loud so you can verify if correct. Bank employees should consider closing the door for every customer they assist in the loan office. Very unprofessional.
