Jacquelyn at the Southpark Meadows branch was amazing today!! She took care of my card issues and also told me about the rewards card. She even assisted me when the banks computer thought fraud was going on with my account while at the branch! On the first UT game of the season, they made sure to tow every last car on the lot (despite the credit union being closed all weekend long). Don t feel too bad about not giving these people your business.

I have been into the location off Slaughter and I35 multiple times in order to get help with a variety of issues. On every occasion I was helped by Cristina Cabrera. She has been one of the most patient and helpful individuals I have had the pleasure of working with in the numerous banks and credit unions I have been a member of. Not only was she always willing to listen and understand whatever was going on, she would immediately be looking and offering up solutions or explanations. If there were ever times when the answer was not obvious or easy to get to, she would spend the time to find whatever information she needed in order to help. In most cases it was an issues that wasn t directly in her control and every time she managed to find a way to push towards a solution even if it meant educating me with the resources needed to solve my own issues. Because of her and the experience she continues to provide, any time I need help I welcome walking into this store resting easy knowing I will have someone in my corner ready to help me out. I thank her and Velocity and would recommend them if they would like a great user experience.

I was trying to apply for a debt consolidation loan, and I could not get approved through anyone else for the amount needed. I have a vehicle loan with Velocity Credit Union, so I decided to apply for a loan with them. I was approved immediately for the lowest interest rate anyone else was offering. I left Velocity for a short while for a checking account at Amplify. While Amplify is zero fees, their lending department has a lot that needs to be done to improve. Velocity has my car note, and a personal loan. Recently, they assisted me with getting a new master card with a great zero % rate for balance transfer. I will be out of debt soon, aside from my car and it is because of Velocitys guidance and help. I have moved my checking account back to Velocity. Its good to be home, I have been a member since April of 2015.

I am extremely pleased with all Velocity Credit Union locations, staff and services. I love that I get paid 2 days before payday. With other institutes, I had to wait the entire weekend before getting paid. I know they will say the comptroller is controlling the funds to be released, but trust me, Velocity is great on the 2 day advanced payment. Also, the customer service is wonderful and accommodating. They are thorough in explaining things to me and I leave the phone call very satisfied. I highly recommend Velocity Credit Union!

Horrible bank. I had someone open an account in my name here and they didn t even notice it was someone overseas who opened it who was obviously fraud. Their customer service is horrible they tell you they will get back to you but never do. Have had to reach out numerous times to no avail and they are the ones who allowed the fraud. The worst customer service. The representatives at the Brodie Location do not know what they are doing when it comes to investments or large amounts of money. Rather than ask questions to make sure they are providing the correct information they just state what they want. Providing incorrect information. I have closed my account and will no longer do business with them. Its sad because before they became a big bank, they were a nice credit union.

its the jerry springer show of banks. have had accounts and several loans over the years. paid the remaining balance on the last loan several months ago and left a small amount in a placeholder savings account for the sake of autopay and account transfers. today got notification of a 30 point credit ding for a late payment. velocity sat on some hidden five dollar processing fee for two months before deciding to pull it from the savings account and reporting me as a late payer. i guess their way of saying dont let the door hit you...

Closed my account today. My primary account is USAA but I wanted an account with a local branch. I had setup automatic deposits to keep the account active. I got email notifications of the transfers and thought everything was fine. However, all this time I was getting monthly fees because they did not have my current address on file. The mail didnt forward these so I had no way to know this was happening. The representative said they actually would have stopped sending the mailed statement but they automatically keep charging the fees. After much back and forth they agreed to refund some of the fees - but not all. I would expect bank of america or wells fargo to have fees like this but not a local credit union. They were fine accepting the deposits and emailed when those went through but made no effort to notify me that they couldnt send a paper statement. Edit - even thought they said account was closed they automatic transfer still activated and I could login and see the account. Theres a a line item of close out account but the account is still active. Called and Im on a 30 minute hold. UFCU has been great - no issues at all. Please avoid Velocity.

I have been a member since 1995 when VCU was still AMFCU. I have since moved out of state but have maintained my accounts. This past week my auto policy was cancelled due to a utility automatic payment that was deducted from my account twice causing my account to be overdrawn. After numerous calls with the utility company, bank, and insurance company, all was resolved today, thanks to amazing customer service from VCU, particularly a rep named Mosh. They stayed on the line with me and my insurance company and ensured that all information from the bank was provided before they left. Thank you again for always providing great customer service!

Love Velocity! Staff at the S. Lamar branch & also the Downtown branch are always friendly & helpful. For example, at the S. Lamar branch, one of their tellers let me know if I put my savings in their money market, Id make much more in interest. Just a simple thing like that. Their online banking system, I think, is awesome. So easy to use. I used to bank at Austin Teleco, somebody hacked into my accounts & stole $3000. Do you think even one person from that bank reached out to me? Crickets. I knew then it was not the place for me.

I have never dealt with a more ghetto bank in my life. An obviously fraudulent charge was charged on my account. Unlike every other bank I ve had they didn t flag it. Even though it was a charge from somewhere near Turkey. The people I spoke with were little to no help and now I m being told it will be at least 2 weeks for any decision to be made/ if they rule in my favor. My account is totally locked down and I can t even get a temporary card. And I m a pretty reasonable person so I get that things can take time. But the vile behavior from people who hold the title of supervisor is so unacceptable that I will never deal with this bank again. I don t care for an automated response from your lack luster google review response team. I just want to warn any and everybody I can about this disgusting company . Shame on all of you!!!

Been a customer of Velocity Credit Union way longer than I should have been. The benefits of a credit union do not outweigh the issues Ive faced with this bank. This is not the bank for you if: You travel for work: Contacting them will not prevent your cards and accounts from getting locked for fraudulent charges. Work and spend time awake outside of a normal schedule: As a night shift worker, Ive faced numerous issues, including cards getting locked, needing to increase my debit limit and withdrawal limit, and losing access to my online account. You are only able to call for assistance during business hours. If you have any issues outside of business hours or during the weekend / holidays, you will most likely be stuck unable to access your money Purchase things online: My card has started to lock out for every other online transaction. This includes Uber eats, Uber ride, and Amazon. Ive had to call 3 times in the same day for these three transactions. Even had to call back after my card continued to decline. My banking account is now linked with another phone number that is not associated with my account. Unsure how that would have changed without my permission. So now I do not receive messages about my card being locked out. I just have to learn the hard way. Call times are typically incredibly long. Only benefit is that you can request call backs. Phone operators will then proceed to stumble with trying to help fix your issue. Dont expect to get your issues resolved in one phone call either. Definitely plan to call them numerous times to get your cards unblocked. Mostly will have to call the fraud prevention line, then the member card services line. Heres a look at todays experience: I was attempting my first transaction of the day and trying to get groceries through Amazon Fresh. My card declined 10 times. I made 3 calls to Velocity member services and 1 call to the fraud prevent line. Each time, they said my account was good to go, only to continue getting declined. It took me 10AM to 4PM to finally be able to order groceries. Mind you, I had to call the previous night after only using my card for Uber Ride and Uber eats and PayPal (which are 100% normal transactions for me). The last operator I spoke to told me that each time I called previously, the operators assisting me were not completing all the steps required to get my card unblocked. So evidently, not only do they have issues with how their fraud system works, but they also have issues properly training their personnel. With that being said, this isnt an isolated event. I get my card blocked atleast 4 times a month at the worst times possible. With how normal banks are operating now, its much better to bank with others like Capital one, Chase, and Frost. Id keep this bank for the credit cards and loans (possibly), but because I dont have any at the moment, I will most likely close my account when I return to Austin. Highly recommend looking into other financial institutions before choosing velocity for general banking needs.

I give 5 stars for the quality and friendliness of the service I receive from all the people with whom I interact. I take away a star for overall policies that lead to VCU not meeting all my needs all the time that require me to maintain accounts elsewhere. that being said VCU is a first rate CC and I highly recommend for local banking needs. A great place for a young person to start their first banking experience. The lack of 2way shared-branch banking, reduced hours & no drive-thru at the convenient location for me are my complaints which certainly does not apply to everyone.

Ive been with Velocity Credit Union since 2007. Im pleased with how well they handle their business. Their online banking is the best that I have used. The staff is knowledgeable and diligent. I used Velocity for an auto loan that went flawlessly. I only wish they had an office in the town where I moved. I continue to use Velocity because they are so good. If I need to go to a branch, I make the trip back to Austin. That only happens on special occasions because of how much banking I can do using Velocitys online services.

They are a wonderfully helpful bank!! Nothing bad to say. If I had only one area of improvement Id say the Autobanking portion could be a little easier. You have to move to a different website and then it becomes a little cumbersome. But even that is such a wonderful time-saver. Thanks!

I have been with Velocity for over twenty years and appreciate their service. Online I utilize the downtown branch. I really enjoy the convenience of online direct bill pay. When in town I utilize the Braker Lane branch. It is clean, neat, friendly, cool, great drive through and great service. I kept my account when I retired and moved out of state because of direct pay services.

As a member of 7yrs I have to say Velocity has been an excellent bank. I have not had any negative or poor customer service from them EVER. Any questions Ive had were always answered right away and any issues were handled immediately. They are very polite and I have gotten A couple of loans with them and have no problem from start to finish. The process was simple with fast approval. Absolutely the worst banking experience Ive ever had. - the online portal is archaic and not intuitive or user friendly whatsoever, there is no where that even shows what amount is owed by month, you would just have to know that number off of the top of your head - there no is clear way to navigate how to make a payment and after multiple phone calls and following their instructions, i still do not have my account set up to make payments - I have received different information every time i have spoken with a representative there in how to get online banking set up and the different ways to pay via phone etc. - since i STILL do not have online banking set up, i have to actually call to make a payment each time, and the only way you arent charged an additional amount is going through the automated payment system, if you are actually talking to a live person, they will charge you $10 per time.

They allowed seven unauthorized loan payments from a third party from my account and they refuse to refund all of my money due to being outside the time frame allowed for disputes. Their customer service is terrible! This is the worst banking experience in Austin. I was a local customer for over a decade! They replied that the issue has been resolved, but it has not. Velocity, if you want to make it right, you have to refund all the payments from a third party that you allowed to go through despite them not being authorized by me. Someone was stealing my money, and Velocity allowed it to happen.

I was an auto loan customer and my car was destroyed in an accident. I continued to make payments while working with the insurance company on the final payoff. They made the final payment directly but it was apparently late. Now 4 years later they continue to report this on my credit report. I contacted Velocity and explained the situation, however they are inflexible, even with my perfect payment history up to the payoff month, and even when the can see that I continued to make payments after the car was wrecked and that the final payment was from the insurance company. This gives me zero incentive to use them again and to actually specify not to use them to car dealers I may buy from in the future.

Velocity Credit Union is stuck in the 90s. Remember back then it felt like Banks made their money mostly from overdraft fees? Like they rigged their transactions so that they would have a better chance of getting that $30 from you? Well most banks have graduated from that practice but not Velocity Credit Union! I had for auto-pay bills scheduled and the day before the process date, I logged in to cancel that weeks payment but it was already too late. So congratulations velocity! You managed to snake me out of $120! I have a screenshot to prove this. Conveniently, they were closed on Friday oh, the day after Thanksgiving. Oh and could you imagine if your bank would not let you use zelle or venmo? Well velocity doesnt. Im really starting to wonder why this Credit Union is even in business. Their practice is so archaic. I will make it a matter of priority to close this account and go somewhere else. Anywhere else!

The last few years with Velocity have been awful. Useless, buggy apps they insist you download crash and need constant updates. If you travel at all, expect your card to constantly get locked(3 times this month for me) and get ready to be on the phone for a minimum of 30 minutes with at least 2 different people. I downloaded the CardLock app and, surprise, you cant unlock your card from there. As soon as I get back to the US I will gladly ditch this bank.

We ve been members for 16 years. I ve received better customer service walking up to the window at Wells Fargo, as a complete stranger, than at Velocity Credit Union, where we have both personal and business accounts. Before posting a public review, I reached out to customer service to talk to someone about our struggles at the downtown branch. Customer service repeatedly promised to have a manager call me back. That never happened. If you like being disappointed, open an account at VCU. If you expect to be treated like a valued customer, keep looking.

My card got compromised and I was told on the phone to go in and get a card. I went to the down town location and the lady in the middle asked if she could help I told her my card was compromised and that I had to get a new card. I guess she couldn t hear me so she got louder and had a attitude. So I got loud and gave an attitude back please don t come at me like that! Well she told me I had to pay 10$ for a new card and I told her I never have before all the other times my card got compromised but she swore up and down that you have to pay then showed me a pamphlet that said 10$ to lost, stolen or damaged. I told her even if my card was compromised she said yes! Ok so she went to talk to some guy then came back and said this one time we will waive the fee but we won t do it again! First of all why you so angry .? I sat down and called velocity they said you don t have to pay for compromised cards well then I told them she was so unprofessional she needs to be informed of these things she doesn t have to be ugly. I never had a bad visit in the 13 yrs I ve been with velocity maybe I should go somewhere else.

I had the best customer experience ever with Crystal G. Asst. Mgr. in the downtown branch. Crystal went out of her way to help me. She currently is using a Medical Scooter for a leg injury and she got up repeatedly to fulfill my customer service request. Crystal was so polite, friendly, knowledgeable and eager to help me. I would not recommend this credit union. When I attempted to refinance my vehicle, financed by Velocity, they quoted a higher interest rate than the one I currently have, although my credit is substantially greater than it was when I initially purchased the vehicle. Subsequently, I purchased (not refinanced) a new vehicle with Capital One Auto and received a great / low interest rate.

One star is generous. Terrible customer service. The absolute worst. The representatives taking calls are rude and unhelpful. This is quite literally the worst bank. I am closing my account and would encourage anyone considering opening an account to reconsider. There are plenty of other credit unions that offer better customer service, UFCU being one of them.

Lost my business card and the agents over the phone can t ever find my card or account with my social, EIN, or name and date of birth!! would not recommend. Feels very outdated and disorganized. I had a simple loan for an AC unit through Austin Energy which I paid off recently and closed accounts. It is Impossible to make a payment since 03/01/2021. For some reason Voilitcy went to a new computer system and changed our account number. I have been trying since March 1st to make a payment. I was told a speciaist would have to assist me, but I have been wait since March 5 and no one will return my call. I called today and I got placed on hold and no again wait for a call back for help. Voilicity wants me to resister my account again and the System will not take my new account number. How are we suspose to make are loan payment when no one will help. I should not have to pay a fee to make a payment with a live person when the online system dose not work. I just want to make my payment.

Banking with them has been absolutely horrible. I have so far deposited 7 checks and have had to wait 8 days to access every single check. I work on the road. The app is horrible and I cant get answers from anyone about my account or availability of all my money tied up with them. I m on my 5th attempt to make my first payment. I ve heard numerous times it s not my job to take payments been transferred and hung up on. When selecting the automated call back option you don t get a call back. Hold times are about an hour each time they transfer you. Everyone is very nice and very helpful at Velocity...if you can ever reach them. Ive called a several times over the last week attempting to ask a simple question about my account. Ive had to hang up and call back after being on hold for 15-20 minutes each time. Then, one time when I was on hold, an automated recording asked if I would like someone to call me back. Terrible experience with this company. I paid off my loan and the auto pay continues to draft every month even though I owe them nothing. Ive called several times about this issue, closed all accounts, canceled autopay twice (once before I paid off the loan). Every time they tell me the issue is resolved, but they continue to draft money that does not belong to them. Its stealing, its unethical and its disgusting. Ive spent hours on the phone trying to resolve something that should be so easy... I dont owe you anything, stop taking my money. When I call they have absolutely no sympathy. Would not recommend this company to anyone.
