I used to like UFCU, but recently I haven't. Banks should not be able to authorize someone else to access their members' money without the owner’s consent. I got paid on Friday, July 26, and deposited my check via mobile banking the following day. My employer told me that the funds left her account on July 29. I thought I had money in my bank account, but when I checked before paying rent, I saw "return item deposit" and "return item fee," and that activities were done on July 31st. I realized my whole check was gone. I was shocked! I called immediately to get answers and have been going back and forth ever since, even having to file a police complaint. I hope everything gets solved as soon as possible, not up to six weeks, as I was told. It was the bank’s fault, and I should not be suffering.

I was told that you authorized a stolen check that belonged to Mary Uwamahoro. Please don't let anybody deposit/cash out a check that does not belong to them. Because you are enabling scams. Before cashing out a check, make sure that that person has an ID that matches the name on the check, and if they don't, the owner of the check should be present to give approval. If you have done that my money would have not been stolen. I hope you change your policies, do that with a careful consideration, or someone sues you and win so you can be encouraged to do the right thing to protect peoples money as you should.

Sometimes life throws problems at you that catch you completely off guard and wrong footed. In these cases it can be difficult to get back on your feet again. I'd like to truly thank someone who went out of her way to extend a helping hand to me when she did not have to. Her name is Carrie Bruce at UFCUs branch on Ben White and Congress. Yesterday, Friday March 24 I was on Ben White in 5 o' clock Austin traffic after work going to the atm to make an important withdrawal. Once I arrived my card was not working because of an issue with my account so I started walking towards the door not realizing the office had closed a little while ago. I tried to open the door and it was locked and my head dropped in sadness and anger because I didn't make it on time and I yelled damn it! Loudly. My sincere apologies. This particular withdrawal was very important and urgent and I hadn't made it on time to go inside the office to ask for help so I was upset at myself and worried. Walking back to my car I hear, "Excuse me sir! How can I help you?" from the door. I explained the issue I was facing and with no hesitation and a hopeful attitude she said "come with me let's see if we can still fix this." A phone call was made and being that it was after hours I wasn't optimistic that anyone would pick up on the other side. Thankfully, someone did answer who helped fix the problem with my account that was stopping me at the ATM. Not only that, but we were also able to work out an arrangement regarding an auto loan that I'm currently paying off as well. It was lowered for the next couple months to allow me to catch back up on the payments and save enough money to be able to pay them in full regularly again. I can't express enough in words how happy I am that Carrie was there because I don't know that anyone else would have approached a visibly upset man who just yelled damn it in front of the door. My family and I are okay and still flying solely thanks to her efforts. She saw I needed help, went out of her way to ask, listened with care and concern then took quick action to resolve the problem and then another! I consider myself a man who keeps his word and that day I was only able to because of your kindess and willingness to open that door and offer help. Ma'am my family asked me to send their thanks to you when I finally got around to writing this 🙂. People like you who show that level of care and resolve are one reason we much prefer credit unions over banks. Thank you and the team you're a part of so much for everything. I've been a customer with UFCU for over a decade with all types of personal, business, and loan accounts. I never thought I'd write a negative review for them. Until very recently I would have had nothing bad to say. But the customer service recently has been horrendous.
I've been trying to reach them on the phone for weeks to dispute a fraudulent $1000 charge and it's been nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone. Last time I called there were 78 -- SEVENTY-EIGHT! -- people on hold in front of me. How is that even possible? That would have been hours on the phone waiting on hold. I finally got in touch with someone today after a 30 minutes wait and apparently I might not be able to get the charge removed because it's supposed to be filed within 60 days (today was 61 days). Absolutely ridiculous considering I've been trying for weeks!
One last thing. In all my years with UFCU the customer service has been great and I've always spoken to a local UFCU employee. Today was the first time I spoke to someone in India who was clearly not an employee of UFCU. She was clearly outsourced from a foreign call center and because of the communication/language barrier I had trouble getting across the relevant info that she needed to file the dispute.
If this charge does not get permanently reversed I am closing all of my UFCU accounts and taking my business elsewhere. And that's too bad considering I've had a great relationship with UFCU up until this point. This is the type of service I would expect from a big national bank, not my local credit union that I've been with for over a decade. Absolutely unacceptable.

I think everyone that works in that branch are rock stars. The gentleman who helped me twice in a matter of two weeks from where my account had been hacked, went so far out of his way to help me, not only was I so impressed, I'm gonna open this new business we are doing into an account at UFCU. I can't say enough great things about that branch or the gentleman who helped me except to suggest you make him a higher management trainer for branches on how other employees can make a customer feel important and special and that they do matter whether they have 1 million in their account or 1 dollar . I am grateful that real deal customer service does actually exist in a time where I mean literally I question why I'm even in particular stores and usually will drive 25 miles if needed out of my way to take my business elsewhere just for the simple fact customer service has fell the the waste side. It's good to know the people at that branch actually do care about their clients . For that alone, I've already mentioned the same thing to around five of my friends who have big mouths like me and I know won't be able to keep it inside and the story I just told you will be repeated several times.

Ive been a customer with UFCU for over a decade with all types of personal, business, and loan accounts. I never thought Id write a negative review for them. This is why I love UFCU! The fact that the company sent an email today was amazing. I just want to say hats off to you (UFCU Employees) if you ve endured long lines or angry customers while working this last week. Based on the email sent to customers, it sounds like the staff also had to deal with challenges outside of their control which is never fun. That you all for everything you continue to do to serve the community! This is an example of a true member lead organization! I love UFCU!

Leaving UFCU after 8 years because of ongoing disastrously managed online and mobile banking system migration. Payment information was lost, features are no better than the system it replaced - often far worse, and now outages have resulted in payments not processing. UFCU are now scrambling to cover fees charged to account holders for invalid insufficient fund charges. CEO Michael Crowl emailed an apology to members finally admitting, there have been challenges as we transition to the new experience. You think!!!? Understatement for an inexcusable fiasco thats been going on for weeks and looks likely to continue.

This bank don t allow 3rd party verifications such as plaid, ninja, etc. I m needing to verify my direct deposits and the company that is wanting to verify uses the 3rd party app and basically it s an electronic bank statement to current date. However, this is the ONLY bank that will not allow me to connect to my account so I can provide the necessary items. Talk about non advancement. Don t let me give my opinion on the new digital online banking platform, basic that s all I m going to say. I wish I took more time to research before leaving my other credit union to come here. Here it is 12/1/2023 and the online website and mobile app is not working. Can t log in to do anything with my money. Can t log in to transfer money or check my balance. Don t know how much money I have can t the online and mobile app is down again. This ridiculous . Now you get 1 star.

OMG! Who designed the new APP? A three year old??? The new app is absolutely a train wreck. The idea of an app is to make transactions and communication efficient Everyone is having to GO TO the bank in person to access the app. THEN there is ZERO contact info on the app. There is No way to chat, send a message. There is not email or even a phone number anywhere on the app. You cannot even access your account number on the app anymore. ALL of these things you could do on the old app. The ONLY things you can do from this app is check your account balances, transfer money, and lock your card. THATS IT! It s completely WORTHLESS!!!! The decline in accessibility has me question my membership.

I just prefer union banks & local like businesses. Ive had multiple times when I couldnt access my fund & it is not just frustrating but affect my finances. The issues are usually due to the website locking me out. I swear to you all, I have my password recorded & the 1st time it messes up I very slowly & carefully re-enter it. This has happened about 4 times in just 1 year. Supposedly they updated everything & I hope this will improve things.

They locked my main checking account for fraud because I had the audacity to attempt to withdraw cash from it from the ATM in the lobby. Took three days to resolve.

Their ATM ate my cash deposit, and nobody here can just open it to refund my cash. Separately, the wait is over 40 minutes for help with a wire transfer (still waiting) UPDATE: just returned today to deposit coins. The coin machine is down. Again. UPDATE #2: Maria was able to fix everything, as well as solve some other issues which should make my life much easier. Thank you Maria!

Great bank to get low interest loans, HOWEVER, having a business account here is a nightmare. The online system is as modern as VHS, flip phone technology. My biggest gripe is calling on the phone to talk to someone. You have to go thru several prompts and by the time you to the fifth department, you finally get a department for right handed customers. Too long to get anything done.

Its a convenient location and the one human Ive ever seen physically work there is super nice. However, trim the trees outside so you can actually see the sign to the entrance of the bank so it isnt a sudden turn as you approach. Also, what happened to meeting with a teller face -to-face? Why is all the banking done over a screen now? I can barely hear them, and doing transactions virtually while physically on-site inside the building is so impersonal.

Dont get an account here, no matter what it is. In person locations always have absurdly long wait times. They have never sent me my renewed check card properly, causing me to walk in and get a card with a new number every time. They didnt tell me the card number would be different the first time and shredded my old card without asking while I still had bills being withdrawn that week. I had a car loan through them because they had really good interest rates but their mobile/online banking lies to you about what you owe, it kept adding a due balance when I tried to pay it in full. The in-person rep flat out told me the online amount was inaccurate.

I was attempting to make a withdrawal at 5:57pm and the teller closed the lane down and would not allow me to even speak. His response was, we re about to send it back to you! I was shocked! Ive always liked UFCU since joining 2 decades ago, but I must say something nice about Carrie, a manager at the Ben White location who helped me solve a difficult problem. Carrie was outstanding in showing warmth, empathy, concern, great knowledge of how to solve my problem, and amazing teamwork. Other people in other departments were needed to pull together and fix the complications rapidly and she got it done. I had been trying for a week to resolve something with my account and had become frustrated. With everyone, she emanates a light touch, as if laying rose petals around, that motivates people to help. She changed my whole mood from frustration to elation. That level of customer service is amazing and I hope she will get the recognition she deserves. Thank you for this wonderful lady and for getting my account resolved in just one visit!

First problem: no tube for sending deposit/withdrawal items. When I asked for one, I was asked to move to another lane because tube could not be found. Then I had to wait 15 minutes for a teller. I realize that you get busy, but I have never had to wait so long.

I just went to the ATM. It was fast efficient and safe. I have been a member of UFCU since I arrived in Austin 11 years ago. I have had very good experiences the whole time Ive been here. I have had an auto loan, checking account, 2 savings accounts. People who work there are very professional and nice.

If you want a problem this is the bank for you!! It s been 5 years I transferred my money here and I couldn t last three days. They have an OLD antiquated bank system/online/mobile. If you send a payment they will receive it late and charge late $$$. They don t have competitive rates. And 6 years ago my girlfriend who worked here told me about how they accidentally reported late payments on everybody s credit cards in there system and then told the employees to lie about it to the costumers. This bank is a mess. Once the last generation of old white ppl who use ledgers and chk books pass on they will have no more customers.

Courtesy pay Service that charges an extra $40 you don t have to put your account in the negative . It seems they pick and choose when this feature is to be used. I was told my courtesy balance was -$400. I am no where close to that number attempted to use my card and it declines after I was told by your customer service representative and when I attempt to call y all have to go through prompt that literally took 5 minutes before it said it was closed and cannot assist. What s the purpose of this service if y all pick when it works and waste your customer time. I also attempted to get a loan and was denied even though I was in good standings. Once my account balances out at zero Monday closing all of my accounts.

This bank has always impressed me, but today they made me proud to call them my credit union. They had made a mistake of taking out an extra loan payment over drawing another account with another bank. This was frustrating and i was worried about if they would own up to their mistake and be able to correct it. Well, they apologized and were super poliet even while i was upset. They tried everything to make the situation right including paying the overage charge. Then understanding i was busy. They let me go and explained the process would be corrected in 10-15mins. However, called back to let me know it was and ensure i was ok. This was all over the phone with D. Alvarado (manager). Thank you, UFCU for taking responibility and being so understanding, and going out of your way to ensure i was happy with the outcome.

Normally I have a perfectly fine exchange and service here. Today on the other hand I had the rudest, sorriest, and most unprofessional employee help me. I felt talked down to, unwanted as a customer and utterly disappointed. Frankly im this close to just transferring to chase bank.

You would think the day after labor day they would have ALL lanes open, but nope always one closed and probably 2 people switching between operating the drive thru lanes, doesnt seem like theres any sense of urgency inside, is there not a manager that could think ok lets open all the lines and have this place fully staffed on busy days ?

Ive had nothing but good experiences here. Preston (I think) was super helpful with me from everything to car loan to getting a new credit card. They are super professional and very nice. The only thing I wish they could do is set up an appointment to see a professional. This location can get very busy and for the most part I dont have 30 to 45 min to spare waiting around in the waiting room for them. Also, they only have hot coffee for drink options in the waiting room. Step that up UFCU, but for the most part, I love it here!

I have had a negative experience at UFCU. Their online services are dated and transactions take forever to process. I have had multiple experiences with staff not knowing answers to my questions or giving incorrect information. Last year, I experienced an unknown autodraft from my checking account to someone else s loan payment for almost 6 months in a row. After hours (literally hours) of phone calls each month they found it was an error an employee made (odd...) and refunded the money and apologized. The fact that it took so much effort on my part to get this issue resolved ( are you sure you don t have another loan you forgot about? is what I was told several times) disturbed me. Now I go in person to make payments on my actual car loan every month and leave very little in my checking so it cant be abused. Such a pain! I really wanted to like this bank but I don t trust them at all.

They suck . Some of the rudest employees ever. They hold part of your checks if you are new., But that varries by location because the one on Brodie didnt. Im considering taking my money somewhere else.

I had a very difficult time opening a business account; for the first time in my life I was visibly frustrated in public. I had all the paperwork from the Secretary of State validating that the business was legitimate and that I was a governing body. As I was completing the paperwork, I reached the section that asked for (1) the information of the person opening the account and (2) the information of the person who owns a controlling interest in the company. I put my name for response (1) and my business partner for response (2). The teller told me that the person who owns the company had to be the person who was opening the account. I asked where it was written. The separation of the two designations on the paperwork suggested otherwise. She said that it was written in their policy and that she would ask the manager. She asked her manager a question and came back to call the business office, noting that at 2 pm on a Saturday they wouldnt likely answer. Even though its not relevant to our transaction, I let her know that I had to open the account today because we are participants in a pitch contest. She continued to make calls to no avail. I told her that theres nothing in the paperwork that suggests that the person opening the account had to be a 25% owner and that we should go through with the transaction if theres nothing prompting her to act otherwise. She said that her manager, was making the decision. I asked to speak to (manager). I asked (manager) if we could proceed with opening the account, given that theres nothing suggesting we should do otherwise. He stated that we could not and that he was leaning towards no. I told him that I didnt understand how he could be leaning towards no if there was (1) no documentation stating that I had to be a 25% owner (I told them I was a 20% owner), (2) proof that I am a governing body in the company and (3) nothing prompting them to make this decision. I asked if he could read the document I was signing and he refused, stating that he doesnt open business accounts everyday and that he was leaning on the teller. Its quite the quandary; she didnt know what to do so she went to him for help, while hes leaning on her and refused to investigate. As a person who has managed dozens of individuals for a decade, I understand trust but I also understand supporting your people by being invested enough to take a look into the situation. All of this for a company that I own and a policy that had yet to reveal itself. (manager) then mentioned high instances of fraud, which is very offensive, given that I am a governing body for the company I co-established (as stated on the paperwork from the Secretary of State). To be fair, he wouldnt have known this because he REFUSED to look at the documentation. He also said, Youre just trying to argue with me. It was at that point that I realized that he wasnt going to listen and I discontinued trying to be heard. He walked away. While I was speaking with (manager), the teller had reached someone and they told her that there was no problem with me opening the account. The teller looked for the policy to back the claim that I had to be a 25% owner and she could not find it. The distribution of ownership is contained within our articles of incorporation and are not publicly available. There would be no way to know if I were a 20%, 25%, or 55% owner. Without a method of verification, how could I be denied an account with your bank? If I were able to attempt to open the account sooner, I would have simply gone to another bank and not have undergone the embarrassing display I encountered today (manager verbally stated that he would be fine with losing my business).

They turned me down for a $1000 loan. I have been a customer for years and I have NEVER missed a payment with them or any other lender. They are no better than the big banks. I am never going to do business with them again. Update: A rep called me a few days ago (8 months later) and convinced me to try to get a new loan from them. Only to be denied a second time and a now my credit score will go down again. They are unprofessional and disregard the fact that they give people false hope.

Ive been banking here for about 3 years now, when everyone said, Credit unions will be way better than Chase!... Well NOT THIS ONE. EVERYTHING is a hassle, it is incredibly hard to get through to anyone in Customer service that can actually help you with anything, and the fees are HIGHER THAN CHASE. Not to mention, Ive been lied to many a time, even to where a manager had to go back and listen to tapes to verify that I had, in fact, been lied to, and then didnt even apologize! I once complained inside the Ben White Branch because the drive-thru ATM is very often broken at night, and you have to park and use the one outside. I complained to a manager that there were no lights out there, and always a large group of homeless people, so they should really tend to the drive thru atm and make sure its properly serviced, OR add some bright lights. The manager looked at fellow employees, THEY LAUGHED, and said, Ha, this is Austin, theres homeless people everywhere. Im from here you D Bags, and Ive never had those issues at a bank. I cannot NOT recommend UFCU enough.

I went into the bank with cash to get two rolls of quarters. When I walked it was a frenzy of activity. One of the two girls at the front kiosk acknowledged me and I let her know I was there to get some rolls of quarters. She told me to go fill out a withdrawal form and then wait for an available stall. Confused I went over to where the withdrawal forms were and there i noticed the stalls of people using self service vacuum tubes and talking to tellers on monitors! What! Why bother coming inside if you are using a drive thru type self service mechanism inside? Thank God at that moment a young man came up to me and asked me what it was I needed. I explained and he very kindly took my $20 and brought me back some quarters. He gets 5 stars for his intuition and customer service. If I go into a bank I expect to have a in person, teller help me. I am disappointed with their teller-less business model. I am closing my account with UFCU this week .

I thought this was the best bank until now. I had a bad experience with a teller. I had gone 3 times to ask for my drivers license and my debit card and I was told that they were given back to me when I know for a fact that I did not recieved them back. Until I decide to speak to a manager and they checked the cameras and was told that they accidently gave my drivers license and my debit card to another client. I was also told that the person that has my debit card had already used it twice. Now I have to wait to get my money credited to my account and get a new Drivers License. Will be closing my account. Police report has been done.

I love this bank. I have been banking here for over 20 years. They are friendly and hands on. I have a checking and savings and several loans including car loans. I appreciated how they work with you and help you with what you need. Their web site is very convenient and user friendly. I do mos of my banking on line. They have great hours and my favorite service is the shared branches which gives me a lot of choices when I need to do a transaction and there is not a UFCU branch near by.

Same as others reviewed...for the past 2 days I been trying to get a temp card I sign in and wait next thing I know walk ins are being helped first! Wow! I wait 20 to 25 minutes then I leave,due to being on my luch time(lobby is open 9 to 5 I get off at 5:30) seems like everyone is at lunch at the same time! Short on staff..very ridiculous!

Extremely disorganised bank. They make you put your name and info in a line queue only to randomly go up to people who are in line in no particular order, frustrating all of the folks who have been patiently waiting and then are confused when half of the customers abruptly leave.

Absolutely useless place to go. This place isnt a bank, its a social gathering, absolutely nobody was around to help me, there wasnt any staff available. I wouldnt recommend anyone doing business with this establishment, totally unprofessional.
