I have struggled with making this review because Im getting bad incidences with this particular Credit Union the credit union has now decided in all their wisdom that I no longer need to use online banking because it keeps getting broken into from overseas which theyre falling and calling it my fault Im not certain when cybersecurity for a national Bank or any kind of credit union became the clients responsibility I broke my neck and I cannot leave my home and I have thinking that needs to be done and I have no advocate or no one who can do it for me and they said too bad so sad and you are done

I have been a loyal customer of Austin Telco for a staggering 16 years, but my recent experiences have left me thoroughly disappointed and frustrated. The decline in customer service has been nothing short of disheartening, prompting me to share my concerns and consider taking my business elsewhere. The most recent incident that pushed me over the edge was an unwarranted collections call over a mere $29. Yes, you read that correctly $29! I have never missed a payment in all my years of banking with them, and suddenly I find myself harassed over what is essentially a drop in the bucket for a long-time customer. Online banking, which used to be a convenient and reliable feature, has become increasingly problematic. Glitches and technical issues have become a common occurrence, making it difficult to access crucial account information or carry out simple transactions. Complaints seem to fall on deaf ears, and the banks indifference to customer concerns is disconcerting. Its disheartening to witness a bank that Ive trusted for so long show such a disregard for customer satisfaction.

I talked to Austin telco and told them I did not get the car and they are still trying to charge me for it. No notice or nothing. I find out tomorrow if they stole my money in my account.

Fifth time this has happened. We are DONE! We keep a high amount of money in our account at all times with regular $15k paychecks every other week. Yet, here we are, traveling in Vegas, with ALL daily limit and travel restrictions lifted, and our card getting declined everywhere. This happens almost every time we travel. And no call or text from the fraud line to verify our charges in the event they are declining thinking our card was stolen. People, if you want to be able to access your money while out of state, DO NOT use this bank. Thank GOD for Capital One or our vacation would be ruined. If they are going to limit your spending to this degree (despite you asking them to lift restrictions) you d think they d at minimum have a number that could be called 24/7 to discuss. Nothing more embarrassing than having a seven figure account get declined everywhere you go, and not even allow you to access an atm. Shame on you Austin Telco.

Ashley in the loan department came through when we needed her most! We were preapproved for a loan but you cannot sign documents in the branch. We were scheduled to pick up the car today and Ashley put together the docs, sent them to me via Docusign and was in constant communication the whole time. She went well above and beyond to communicate with the dealership and take care of us. This is why I have all of my loans through ATFCU! Keep up the great work.

Applied for a new car loan on a Tesla. Once credit was pulled, I was notified that Austin Telco doesnt finance new car loans with Tesla. But the website allowed me to select from prefilled drop down box, a new 2020 Tesla for the vehicle... The website and lending employee should prevent credit being pulled, if it is for a service they dont offer.

I have been a member of Austin Telco for close to 10 years, and just recently decided to look into getting my vehicle refinanced for a lower interest rate. I wish the first person i spoke to could have told me more about the stipulations they had on their vehicle loans. Now i have a hit on my credit and didnt get anywhere with the loan. Since i owe 4k more than what the vehicle is worth. Aside from the fact i have never missed a payment on any vehicle i have owned. The only thing they could say was sorry, and i agree in regards to the institution. I will be moving my money and business else where.

We are very happy with Austin Telco. Without any prior history with them, they approved two loans that my previos Credit Union RBFCU, was reluctant to approve, despite being with them for more than 10 years, with personal & business accounts with movements every day. So long RBFCU. My business goes now to Austin Telco

My wife has a loan through Austin telco. Yeah, it s a great interest rate, but nowhere near the hassle of dealing with this completely outdated and incompetent bank. The system they have set in place seems to be completely reliant on you living directly across the street from a branch. Although it seems they have been forward thinking enough to make the shift toward using fax machines.

I don t have a credit card through them and don t use the debit card much, but my family members have traveled overseas and as long as you give them a heads up things are ok. I consider this oversight a plus, not a negative.

Both my wife and Is experience with financing vehicles through this credit union has been a debacle every time. Im not sure if the issues are incompetence, a lack of training, or poor internal communication, but rest assured you will jump through hoops and still get hit with strange fees and procedures that make no sense. Most recently this was paying extra registration fees for Austin Telcos own botched paperwork a month after my purchase. As a professional lender I dont understand how you can screw up vehicle registration. As much as I would like to fight them on why I shouldnt have to pay for their incompetence I think my best route is to simply not use them again after repaying the current loans (or possibly transfer my loan to someone else) and let everyone know about my experience. The 2 star review (instead of 1) is because there is the occasional competent and friendly employee there wanting to help and the rates are good - but there are too many other problems and too much competition (with more convenience and competence) to take this credit union seriously as an option for my financial needs in the future.

The worst customer service of any bank I have ever come into contact with. Now that I no longer deposit 100s of thousands of dollars here a year, they not longer want you as a customer. I live on SS disability and am treated like a second class citizen. I have been a member here for OVER 40 years! Robert Hernandez should be fired. I TRIED to call him since I have a long time ongoing problem and he had the audacity to have his secretary call me to tell me that I CANT BE CALLING HIM. HE IS TOO IMPORTANT AND HAS NO TIME FOR MEMBERS! I swear this is what she told me. She even suggested that I move my account to another bank! I went to the drive-thru teller at Shoal Creek just now. My previous negative review is from last year and it still holds. After being a member of Telco Federal Credit Union since the day they opened their doors I closed my accounts with them over 2 fraud charges THEY called me about. One charge was for $5 something and the other $3.95. I am still in disbelief over what they have done. I can not go into specifics without revealing too much info about my accounts. WOW!! Is all I can say. The teller that helped me over the years was in tears over what they had done to cause me to close my accounts.

The only reason this is a one star review is that you cant select zero or negative stars. The WORST banking experience EVER! We were dealing with a beneficiary on death situation. Those I spoke with withheld information; lied about what they said and what they didnt and generally obstructed every attempt to conclude the business. This process took over 2 MONTHS! Every time we went back with the next set of requirements, there was something else that we didnt know we needed to do. Their VP of Member Services seemed to go out of her way to be unhelpful. I had to get the attorney involved twice! I cant understand how this business gets away with service that is THIS BAD! The fact that it happens at the leadership levels suggests that the way customers are treated (or mistreated) is an upper level management decision.

Free coin counting 3. Lots of branches 4. Good telephone customer support 5. Most accounts have no fees 6. When I was a kid, they let me withdraw limited funds without an ID and did not charge me late fees when I forgot to pay my credit card a few times

Very bad customer service and knowledge of the products they offer. My husband called them about a loan for a new boat purchase from another state. They informed us it would not be an issue that we were purchasing it in another state and that they allowed 0% down if you qualified. Once they ran our credit and started the application we were then told we qualified for the best interest rate but they do not allow 0% down on any boat loan. On top of that they informed me they would only finance the purchase if the dealer played by their rules. Really wish they would have given us the correct information up front...

I have been with Austin Telco for 17 years have had 5 auto loans through them currently two now. We were looking to get a personal loan of $8K to consolidate our credit cards. My wife went up there spoke to dawn in loan office and they ended up saying that we need to make $8000 a month to get a $8000 loan. Keep in mind our credit is 722. I was upset tried calling up there to explain what is the qualifications for a personal loan. Lady I spoke to said she just process the loan and has no idea I asked to speak to dawn she said hold on. Than she said that dawn said yes $8000 income needed a month for a $8000 personal loan. I asked to speak directly to her and she never answered her phone . Now they are closed after me trying to figure this out for half the day. I will be refinancing my auto loans with RBFCU and canceling my accounts after 17 years with them. I can get two 30k auto loans making $5k a month but cant get a $8k personal loan . Thats some B.S.!

Horrible credit union. I banked with Chase and had a much better experience. This has seriously been the most wildly unprofessional financial institution Ive ever had to deal with. Things with them got so bad I had to get the federal governing body of credit unions involved to rectify their many mistakes. I would recommend going literally anywhere else.

Review №69

Lousy customer service, not a lot of features Id expect (like credit line hooked to your overdraft protection), even during business hours the phone is frequently turned off, and the customer service reps that Ive dealt with so far have never been eager to help. They ranged from cool tolerance to downright irritation at being bothered. If it werent for the penalty you pay if you close your account within 3 months of opening, Id already be gone, but Ive definitely been shopping for a new bank as soon as I hit that mark. Their hours suck and are often closed before I even get off work, and my old bank out of state was able to help me faster and with better service than Austin Telco. I have not had one positive experience with them. They are never willing to work to help the customer beyond the bare minimum. Id highly recommend you take your money elsewhere.

I have been a member of Austin Telco FCU for almost 30 years. It is the best credit union in Austin, Texas and possibly the entire State. I joined right before our current President, James Poplin, was hired. Poplin and his staff have taken Austin Telco from a small credit union for primarily telecommunications workers to the largest and most fiscally sound credit union in the City of Austin and surrounding areas. As a retired City of Austin employee and former AT&T employee I recommend Telco as we call it to anyone that values the safety of their money and excellent customer service.

Review №73

I like this credit union. Ive been using them for nearly 2 decades, finance all my cars there. This is a pretty good credit union with great loan rates. Ive typically found the staff to be friendly although a little inexperienced at times (they expanded quickly, lots of new hires). Phone support is something youll need to be ready for some serious time spent on hold though. The downside is their ability to handle customers that travel outside the Austin area. I travel a lot and if there is a problem with my account (a fraud alert, Target-like security issue, etc) then it cannot be handled. You always seem to have to go into a branch office personally to handle everything. If Im in town, its only a inconvenience. If Im not, its full stop, no help at all, no alternative. Youre stranded. Ive been stuck in another country with no access to my account until I get back to Austin a week or more later. It can be a real hassle. If youre local and rarely get more than 30 miles from Austin, this is a great place to do your banking. I really need to switch to another bank that can handle my travel requirements but having loans and online payment services and auto deposit make it kind of painful to switch too so Im right on the edge of whats less convenient.

I have been using Austin Telco for the past 6 years and love this local bank. While not being a fan of the big American conglomerate banks, this provides a great way to keep your money local and have it held with a trusted federal credit union. Review №75

My experience is based on the Stone Hill Town Center branch in Pflugerville. Branch hours are consumer unfriendly (who closes the lobby at 4?). Employees are unpleasant at best. Policy is to hold all paper check presented for NINE days before releasing funds (ie:they assume all their members are trying to defraud them with every check). It is difficult to open an account (30 minutes of siting with an associate on a slow, out dated computer, continually making the evil eye at my poor, bored kids. How dare a mom have errands to run if her children arent yet in school!), and even harder to add a joint account owner. And to top it off, they charge you a $10 fee for closing your account early. I though the entire point of a credit union was to avoid the poor customer service and ridiculous fees. Dont be fooled: Austin-Telco is a big bank dressed up like a credit union. Do yourself a GIANT favor and drive across the plaza to RBFCU. Far more customer friendly in every way. :

Not a fan of this bank. They hook you with low interest rates. When I applied for an Auto Loan they wouldnt give me the advertised rate despite a great credit score. The loan officer then added about $300 to my loan amount that was more than my purchase price. She admitted she made a mistake but she was rude. Now I looked at refinancing a 60 month loan to a 72 month and they wanted to give me a loan at 3.29 vs, 1.99 not because of my credit score but because Im not a new member to the bank. THEY DO NOT VALUE THEIR CURRENT CUSTOMERS, ONLY NEW ONES. Bank wisely and stay clear of this place. Definitely recommend Randolph Brooks instead.
