I gave them one star because it is not possible to give negative stars. Dealing with HomeRate Mortgage has been nothing but horrible, frustrating, and a waste of my time. They can't seem to get their papers in order in a timely fashion, they appear to lack the ability to communicate effectively with the appraiser they use, they don't communicate with their customers about problems with closing dates or how the file is progressing, and they caused me to waste days of my time while they endeavored to get their things together. After we appeared to be closed, I just heard today (from the closing agent and not from HomeRate Mortgage themselves - because they appear to lack the ability to communicate with customers) that they think they need to close again, despite me having a signed note. I have bought and sold multiple house and I have never experienced anything like my fiasco with HomeRate Mortgage. These people lack competence and any respect for their customers or their customers.

Eleven months after my horrible experience with HomeRate Mortgage, my review finally received a response. The fact that it took eleven months for you to respond to my review truly illustrates my point about your lack of concern for your customers and, in my opinion, your utter lack of competence and professionalism. My issues with HomeRate were completely explained in my discussion with an attorney in your general counsel's office last year. I suggest that you review my file, including the notes from my discussion with your attorney. That should adequately inform you of your failings. If you truly wish to remedy your failings, you will find my contact information in your file. If you do not truly wish to remedy your failings, then please do not wait almost a year and then post a patronizing response to my review.

My wife and I recently purchased our with HomeRate. We were very satisfied with their rates and services. However, the best part about our experience was working with Lindsay Peker. She was a complete professional. Every time we had a question she was ready with an answer and if she did not have the answer immediately she would run the numbers and get back to us quickly, usually within the hour. I would absolutely recommend her. Know that she will go the extra mile for her customers and you will happy you went with her.

Called a month ago talked to Ben,I knew it was a long shot but called anyways told him my story he said he would look at it, I never got a call till I called back a week later they said he wanted more info so I gave it and she said he would call back and now 3 +/-weeks later I call back again and he gets a message to call and when he did he told me what I thought but my problem is he wasnt friendly like the previous time when he was looking at making a sale and no return call to let me know ,his excuse was it was marked inwas called back

Have been hearing Ben Phillips Home Rate Mortgage ads on J103 in Chattanooga for years, and I had an unexpected need of them this year. I figured they had stood the test of time advertising on a radio station that values honesty and integrity so I gave them a call. I havent been disappointed. Isaiah Tate took my account and explained things up front and locked me into a refi about as good as I could expect in this economy, and Jeanette Jolley was my loan processor, and Im very glad for that. An unexpected refi in this economy is scary but Jeanette made it efficient and also friendly and genuine. And I thank her so much for that.

I cannot recommend if you want a speedy or easy process, our adventure started Dec 12 after all kinds of paperwork, contracts, and promises, today , 3 mths later, way more behind in payments then were, now which is now gonna even facing foreclosure, ... Our credit sucks way more than it did (700-500)which is now gonna hurt our potential of going another route we,are out 750.00for appraisel, still owe about 5000.00 for deck repair that had to be done before hand... we have full time jobs, a home that appraised for 200,000 more than what we owe, .... No we were not in great financial shape at all but that was the reason for investing in this process... i am at a loss , i have no idea where to turn now....

Could not have been more pleased with the service your company provided. From dealing mainly with Lindsay Peker through the whole process. She kept me informed where we were going with the interest rates jumping all over the place. She kept on top of that flucation and when they went below 6 percent she locked everything in. Her professionalism in this matter was very reassuring do the fact I was moving her from NJ and not bought a house in 34 years. I would like to acknowledge Jessica Bellamy as I also dealt with her when Lindsay was on vacation. The same applies to her for her outstanding professionlism and having this be a very pleasant experience. Been Trying to close on a house that we brought to them months ago, missed the 2nd closing date, lack of communication, details, options. Definitely, a frustrating time, I believed US101 commercial so decided to give them a chance. But I just want to close on this house and move on with our life. I wish they would reach out and tell us what to do so everything is lined up so there are no more Missed closing dates . We found the house did all the paperwork and brought the deal to them . I would think this would be an easier closing ??????????????????????

The Title Company never issue the payment for the home insurance since May and we don t know what to do at this point. I messaged, and I m still waiting for an answer. We refinanced in the past with another company and we didn t even pay for appraisal at that time Lesson learned.

During process felt we had to pull information a lot of the time to see how things were going. At the end of the process balances on credit cards were not reverified before closing unlike when we got the original loan through quicken loans everything was verified, no money still owed at the end and were kept up to date.

Our experience with refinancing our home was a bit scary at first, the thought of it anyway, but it turned out to be definitely everything we hoped for. Our broker, Brent Rainey was amazing. Recently, I was placed in a precarious position when I had to purchase my mothers home after her death. I had banked with TVFCU for over 25 years and that was my first stop for a home mortgage. Due the the probate courts, TVFCU asked me for several court documents, which cause me to retain an attorney. After two months of back and forth communications, the head mortgage guy at TVFCU said they could not help me anymore! I was shocked and dismayed that TVFCU had failed me< I turned to Home Rate Mortgage because I hear Ben Phillips on the radio every morning as I go to work. So, I did an internet inquiry and left some Information. Within fifteen minutes I received a call back from an HRM employee and the next day I was assigned a mortgage specialist (Scott Phillips). I sent Scott my information and HRM was able to close my mortgage within 18 days! I have never had such a great experience with buying a home. I cant say enough great things about HRM. Home Rate Mortgage is the worst company I ve ever dealt with. Their communication was horrible with me consistently over a 6 month span. Jeanette Jolly is absolutely horrible at her job at the East Brainerd branch. They got nothing positive done for me. I never did close on my loan with them. I switched to Caliber Home Loans and they sealed the deal with me within a few weeks. Avoid this company at all costs!!

Just want you to know Lindsay was a Godsend. Found a condo on the beach & decided to buy it even though I really wasn t in the market. Texted Lindsay what was up & within 24 hours it was a done deal. Getting a loan closed now a days is a different story. Never knew so much paperwork & questions existed however there again Lindsay was right there helping me. Worked with Brent Rainey on our purchase of house in Cohutta GA he referred us to a real-estate agent first day I talked to him He brought paperwork to my job after he left work for the day. Brent answered after hour phone calls even while he was on vacation came to the office early several times so I could make it work on time so I could turn in paperwork . He was very personable to work with we had some things come up with the loan but but he stuck with us and kept in close contact with me and my wife during the whole process all the way first screening calls pre-approval documents and all the way to the closing table he drove all the way to Dalton during our closing treated us like family I even call him friend would highly recommend Brent Rainey on your next mortgage loan .

I had a terrible experience with Home Rate Mortgage and I would not recommend them. Specifically, there were major communication issues with the loan processor, Sam, who did not respond to emails or review information that was sent to her that she requested. As a result, my closing fell apart at the last minute. This was not communicated to me by HomeRate, but by the closing attorneys as I was driving to the scheduled closing. HomeRate tried to blame the issues on me because I chose to buy without a realtor. I provided everything to them when they asked. Those handling my mortgage did not communicate with each other and this resulted in a my file being mishandled and mismanaged by everyone who touched it. The process was unnecessarily stressful, overwhelming, and difficult.

My review is a little bit different as I am not a customer of home rate mortgage. I have had a business relationship with them specifically with Gloria. Gloria called the plumbing company that I work for and asked us to give an estimate to take a house off of well water and put it on city water so that they could get a loan funded for their customers. I spent about an hour and a half on that estimate and we have a $49.99 fee for that. The prospective buyer backed out of the purchase as I was finishing the estimate. Gloria asked me to send the bill to home rate anyways as she knew that we had already put in the work. This is not typical of a mortgage company. Most mortgage companies would have stuck us for the bill as Soon as the buyers backed out. This speaks highly of the companies honesty and integrity. When I need a mortgage I will be calling and asking for Gloria

I worked with Nathan Zollman who went above and beyond to help me with my mortgage loan. My process took longer than normal (my issues, not his). Nathan was patient and helped me every step of the way. Most loan officers would have probably threw their hands up in the air and said it wasnt worth it,, but Nathan was patient and kind through it all. Nathan even made phone calls for me personally trying to get to the bottom of some of the issues that arose. If you are looking for a MLO, I highly recommend Nathan Zollman with Homerate Mortgage. You will not me disappointed!!!

My loan officer Isaiah Tate and Gloria are the top of the line in their business. Are you used to no return calls - not being constantly updated on your loan status.....then you have not experienced the professionalism of Homerate Financial. Our experience with Home Rate Mortgage was great! Matthew put us at ease from the very beginning. We were able to get a better rate and get some cash out for some much needed home repairs and still save $400 per month on our mortgage. Matthew also helped us out by suggesting that we were over-paying for our home owners insurance so we got a few quotes and ended up switching over to another company. That saved us another $1900 per year! Were now paying less than half of what we were paying. Home Rate Mortgage is great. Matthew Bryant is the best. If youre even thinking about buying a home or re-financing your current home I highly recommend that you call Matthew at the Knoxville office. Youll be glad you did.
