Unitus Community Credit Union

The people are nice, but as an institution, this is a lousy credit union. I've had my account randomly frozen due to their glitchy ai generated "fraud protection" flagging my account.
Just recently the ai driven payment processing program started sending back my paid leave Oregon payments due to a mistake on the part of unitus! I'm still trying to undo the mess so I can continue to receive payment. Use advantis or rivermark. Steer clear of this dumpster fire of a financial institution at all costs, or it may cost you!

Friendly, neighborhood credit union. I love this place, so glad to have a branch nearby. UNITUS has been awesome. Member for over 10 years. Multiple accounts and loans. I loved that they were a small branch and not big chain. They gave out loaves of Dave's Killer bread. Service great, same teller for years.

Now, the service sucks, cold and sterile. They made an error on my account, withholding my money (bills are due) and the supervisor "Tyler" had zero, I mean ZERO empathy or accountability to rectify the situation. Bland canned answers summed up as "well wait and see" Rediculous, I am in great standings with the branch, no reason to treat this way. I don't have time to "wait and see". The bills don't wait and see.

I am not asking for a favor. Fix your error and give me access to my money.

I say this about Unitus, and I say this about few customer-facing organizations: these folks, and I can say this across the board--rock consistently provides superior service.

I'll wait while you quickly review your bank's service.
Unitus invests 100% of its investment dollars and support to its market in charity by their staff and the community it serves.

Can yours? I thought not
They have been my bank since I kicked BofA to the curb in 2015. I had been essentially financing international, national and local entities that I would never invest in if I controlled where my month-to-month money was used and who or what might be the recipient of those dollars.
So, yeah. I recommend these folks bunches!

Unitus Credit Union is a fantastic financial institution. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure that my banking needs are met. The online and mobile banking options are user-friendly and make it easy to manage my accounts on the go. Additionally, the rates and fees are very competitive compared to other banks. I've banked here for years and am currently pretty displeased. I've been getting emails all month about my card expiring soon. I'd like to update those bills so I don't end up with a lapse in service on those autobilled things. I messaged the bank late in December to ask where my card is. They said it was sent out on the 16th and could take as long as 10 days to arrive. I still don't have it (on the 31st) so it seems I will have no usable debit card til at least the 2nd. I don't understand why they couldn't have sent it out earlier if it could take that long to show up.

We moved our business account over here. They are great for small businesses. They do not do everything such as credit card processing. But they have been good to work with. My personal accounts with them have been great.

They have recently made numerous chnages that are unacceptable! They have a maximum limit of $1,000 per day at an ATM and good luck finding an ATM that actually has that much cash available! They are forcing you to use fingerprint or facial recognition to use their mobile app, this is a change from the pin set up previously. After being a long time member, I am being forced to close all of my accounts and take my money elsewhere, where I have the conveniences of being able to access my funds both by a mobile app and at an ATM.

This is absolutely the WORST credit union/bank Ive ever dealt with. Their technology is always failing (cant make mobile deposits without a huge hassle; transactions dont load; system is down; you name it). Today I learned my savings was not linked as overdraft protection as I specifically requested when I opened the accounts - and a vital check was rejected, despite having banked there for nearly 20 years without incident. We will be moving all our accounts. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your banking needs.

Take your car loan somewhere else. These little scammers been approved by Kuni BMW and Im really surprised how they are doing business in the US in 2022. Have an Auto Payment Fee of $250.00 added to my car loan balance after giving me a headache and frustration. Called them three times to find what is missing to avoid those charges. Was told everything is set and good to go, no worries. Customer service is friendly but absolutely incompetent and have no clue what they are doing. Rather deal with a proper big bank. Will NOT recommend.

Answered extensive new member questions, discussed pros and cons of different account features, made it clear how to use e-banking and reach out via email and rescheduled smoothly!

4 years ago, when my wife finally succeed in convincing me to migrate my account from (one of the big box banks that rhymes with pace), I was dubious that this financial institution would be all that different from what I already had. a banks a bank, yeah? well, here I am admitting in a very public way that my wife was.....was....she was right. yesterday, we picked up the keys for our brand new (very first!) home. Todd Twardowski, our absolute rockstar of a mortgage officer, made it all possible. He VERY PATIENTLY answered all of our silly first time homebuyer, why the hell didnt they teach us any of this in school??,questions-and he smiled the whole time. I thought that buying a home would be (I assume IS for many) a soul-crushing exercise in red-tape and glad-handing, but this whole experience has been absurdly pleasant. really. Omar, Omar, Omar! Hands down the BEST Unitus has. His customer service skills are out of this world! You do not experience this amount of care, attention to detail and people that go above and beyond anymore. Omar was outstanding, expedited everything with my loan, had me approved in rocket speed, his personality is the BONUS! This guy really cares and is funny, savvy, witty, SMART! He knows people! The staff is friendly and helpful, but I am often here outside their business hours and the ATM at this location has been broken for weeks and wont dispense cash. Doesnt stop them from charging ATM fees when you use another ATM though. And speaking of fees, Unitus fees are substantially higher than the other credit union in Portland of which I am a member, and their APY on interest-bearing accounts is entire percentage points lower. If you dont like the nickel-and-dime-you-for-everything experience, try a different credit union.

Kay was so wonderful and helped me obtain a credit card which I didn t think was possible for me at this time. She let me me know how to best get back on track with my credit, was very nice and extremely helpful. Made a simple application to try to fix a furnace. Boom! Rhonda calls me with a better solution. Refinance our truck for less interest and take the equity out we need to fix our furnace. Payments the same just added one more year to what we were already paying. Next step Omar gets in touch to go over the questions about the details and Shannon helped with some of the other questions with the hubby. We sign our documents Tuesday and we have it done. Truck will now be financed (less interest) with Unitus and we have the money to fix our furnace. Simple and easy. All 3 of these people made this so simple. They took the time to hear our needs and put us into a better loan. They took the extra steps to do more than average. Unitus has been more than average but this put them over the top. I cant begin to say enough about the quality of customer service given to us by them. Keep in mind credit isnt perfect and we have struggled. But we still are given the best service regardless of this. Thank you Rhonda, Omar, and Shannon for helping us make something we thought was not possible happen. Many thanks!!!

I got an auto loan through Unitus as they came highly recommended but they had the WORST service. I went into the branch on multiple occasions to see why my automatically drafted payments were not taken out and was told it was a glitch and that it would be fixed. Nothing happened, no one called me, and then I was harassed about not making payments. Literally the only time in my life where I would rather payoff a car than keep my loan with someone. We will be going back to OCCU as my experience with Unitus has been absolutely dreadful.

Easily one if the best experiences I ve had with obtaining an auto loan. This was only possible with the amazing help of Omar Cazares. Throughout the entire process Omar was so kind and helpful, always keeping me in the loop with updates. Whenever I got on the phone with Omar it felt like I was talking to a family member that I haven t talked to in a long time. Not only did I feel like Omar genuinely cared about my situation, I knew any issues that came up would be resolved immediately especially with how fast he got back to me. Tim at Unitus was awesome. We were having some issues getting the right loan and a few of the big banks were making things more difficult than they should have been. With big banks, you never feel like youre talking to a human being. No matter how many years of history you have with that bank they still make you feel like a number in an excel sheet, which is exactly what you are to them. Thankfully Tim is a nice, down to earth professional who responds immediately and shoots you straight. He was honest and made us feel good. Everything he said he would do, he did. And got us a good rate to boot. Really couldnt have ask for or expected better anywhere else. Thanks and kudos!

Omar Cazares-Alvares and Vianey Marquez were two of the most helpful and kindest loan officers I could have ever had. Vianey was kind enough to listen to my frustrations with the credit reporting process (I had been trying to bring my score up before getting a new load - after having my previous one for 5 months thanks to a total by Progressive). However, she helped. I got started and approved. And the next day got a raise. The Omar Cazares-Alvares called me and we got on like old cousins. Great guy. I was a bit worried becuase I bought it out of state with a referral from Cars.com, but the User Car dealership didnt deal with OR licensing and fees. But Omar told me not to worry. We added a few hundred to the loan (of which Ill still probably put more down) and my stress level has been reduced 100-fold. Ive banked with Unitus for 10-11 years. My first car loan with them. Then I even refinanced my Ford Fusion Plugin Hybrid with them too. Even with my current barely sub 700 score Omar got a 4.19% rate. So personable. So kind. Thank you both so much for helping me get the car of my dreams. So what? Im an old uncle! I want a black Plug-in Hybrid Hatchback for my golf clubs and a 53 mile to get to work and back on a single charge. I owned my previous Chjevy Volt Premier for 5 months. 3 fillups. The rental? Mazda CX-5 for 3 weeks. 4 fillups. Cant wait. And thank you for helping me wade through the OR licensing paperwork. You folks are gs. I love you and thank you for helping me. Unitus for LYFE!

Not only did I have a great experience with Olivia C in person, as she answered all of my newbie questions, but after getting approved I was helped by the AMAZING Omar C!! His phone call literally brightened my day, and he too was able to answer any and all of my questions. Im a shared branch member and I was told that I would be able to make a check deposit at your CU. I went to Unitus Westmoreland and unfortunately the branch does not participate in the network. However, Luciana was able to help me look up the closest branches where I could make my deposit. The customer service here is amazing!

Well for Peace of mind online banking you cant beat Unitus, their customer service is excellent. I made a change to update as it instructed me. I went to sign on and it took me to the tab that says you need to change your password thats the wrong password so I went to change it, it accepted the password and then it sent me an email from Google the forward line in English and the body in Chinese!? so it was really disturbing and they immediately took care of it and eliminated any participation of an unwanted party in my account. Tim Burke and his team at the Clackamas Branch were fantastic. Given that we applied for a refi right before the Christmas holidays and during COVID, Tim and his team got our application through and closed in a very short time frame. Way shorter than I expected. Tim was always available to answer questions and his communication skills were excellent. I would highly recommend Tim to anyone who needs a highly competent professional.

Michelle from the Clackamas branch helped us through the whole process of financing our 1st home. She went out of her way to meet us a another branch when that worked better for our busy schedules. She was responsive to countless requests for updated pre-approval letters so we could get our offers in when it was crunch time. And when someone finally accepted our offer in this crazy Portland housing market, Michelle worked with us to nail down the best rate possible on our mortgage. Wish I could give more than 5 stars! As a struggling small business we were unable to secure funding in the first round of PPP and had lost hope that we would be funded. Denise S. reached out to me late on a Thursday evening because she had noticed that we hadnt been funded and wanted to help me with a new application. She answered all my questions even through the weekend, Joda from the Beaverton branch got me a copy of a cancelled check to speed up my application and then when we got funded and I had to go pick up the cashiers check (YAY!!) Heidi and Lynette at the Clackamas branch got had it printed and hand delivered to my car so I could get out of the long line! Such AMAZING customer service. I have never had any bankers take care of us the way these guys have! We will be moving all of our accounts to them as soon as we can!! THANK YOU!

My wife and I just purchased our first home and decided to go through Unitus, as we do with everything finance related, for our loan. I cant imagine having any smoother of an experience. Tim was immediately on top of everything we needed as well as a truly kind man. He also set us up with a wonderful real estate agent. I remember when we first started looking for a home Tim said Im going to make this so easy that when its over youre going to ask yourself if you really just bought a home! - and it was true. It s a community credit union and they don t seem to help their customers I ve been a customer for 10 years and they re not really forgivable they barely wanna waive any overdraft fees and never willing to re-open your checking s account once it s closed not even with the epidemic going on in 2020 there s no type of programs that they are willing to offer their customers Or any type of assistance.

I write few reviews. However, it is necessary to report on the skill, professionalism and over-all awesomeness of Heidi Bartolon of Unitas Community Credit Union (Clackamas Branch.) She assisted me, at her branch, in an exemplary manner despite the fact I wasnt even an account holder of Unitas. She took the time, patience and energy to attempt to resolve my issue; going above and beyond my highest expectations. The result was that an error was made by my own banking institution, not Unitas. So, thanks to Heidi and Unitas, I have a plan of action to resolve my problem and a newly found interest in switching accounts to this credit union. Thank you, again, Heidi!

Elliott is the most patient, the most conscientious person I have come in contact with at Unitus. I love the Clackamas branch because everyone is nice to me. Elliott is my go to guy. He really understands me and has helped me figure out the new online system, dont change it again!!! He is always happy always smiling. You will like it here at the Clackamas branch!

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Elliott Kahoalii. Elliott was fantastic, he delivered a painless financing experience from start to finish. I was on a major time constraint to obtain auto financing and he took my problems into his own hands, pulling out all the strings to complete my loan in the allotted time i had! Elliott is very professional and personable and an absolute pleasure to speak with. great employees that care about the customer are hard to come by. I just got a auto loan with Unitus , I can not adequately tell you how impressed I was with the loan department . I do not have the greatest credit and going to auto dealerships has been like pulling teeth. Loan officer Nicole looked past my credit score and asked pertinent questions and approved me on a loan that would work for both parties. I then worked everything through Arlo the loan processor instead of the dealership. Arlo truly went the extra mile and I ended up getting a great deal on a 2018 Nissan Rogue . If you qualify for membership, I advice you join . If you need an auto loan , give them a call . The process was streamlined and painless

Clean and nice place. However I tried to withdraw from another credit union. For some reason this branch didn t allow that. I can t believe they couldn t call another branch or in some other way get authorization.

Heidi B. @ the Clackamas branch is Awesome! I work FT. & am the primary care taker for my elderly parents so my schedule is always packed. Heidi was instrumental in processing my loan application in one day.. Always a professional. Does what she said she was going to do and all this with a genuine smile. Thank you Heidi so much for your hands on amazing personalized service. Today could have been very stressful but Heidi assured me she would see this transaction through with me. Please recognize her. This was a big deal for me and she took the stress out of the process and provided to me five star service.you just don t see that happen to often these days. I go to the Happy Valley branch because the staff there is ALWAYS friendly. I cant say that about every branch. I just recently opened a business account with Heidi Bartolon, and was missing some information. Heidi kept working on the account while I was getting the necessary documentation. I emailed her when I was ready, and my return visit was quick and pleasant. Heidi is a blue chip representative of Unitus and will keep me coming back. Thank you!

Heidi Bartolon was fantastic ...My son was opening his first bank account and she was very nice to take extra time to explain what the best practices are to protect your personal and financial information. She took extra time to help him set up online banking ect...For her to also take the time to educate him and explain every thing in detail so he understood it, was very comforting for me as a parent ...Thank you very much Heidi for also making the process not only thorough but fast as well.

Racial profiling and extra eyes on people of color does not look good Unitus. Your policies were blatantly race-fueled as I witnessed today while there. You told a man of color to remove his sunglasses and then proceeded watch him the entire time while he worked with the teller (on a simple normal task). Didnt stop me from wearing my hood in the location, but Im white so its okay with you, right? I think this is an opportunity to re-evaluate your policies and training procedures. Especially for the woman running the tellers area.

Of all the branches, this one is the worst. The drive thru is never open when I come during business hours (I have an infant so its more convenient to go thru the drive thru) and you cant do a number of transactions inside that you can at every other branch. Frustrating.

AWESOME! My credit is up 54 points thanks to Jacque B at Unitus CC. Ive been making good progress for a while now but Jacque gave me a few tips and have been helping me get it even higher so I can achieve my financial goals. Just checked it again and its up 54 points. What Ive learned is that its not about the bank or credit union, its about the great people who work there and if they actually care about you that makes the difference. At Unitus, they do care, they have great products/services, and they can deliver the results youre looking for. Thanks again Jacque, YOU ROCK! :)

(2 Stars) Great employees, really bad IT support... almost non-existent. Im trying to recover my password which requires my account number. I dont have my account number on me because I switched to the green e-billing statements (which require login to view). I called into the branch to recover my password or SOMETHING to help me. After answering 5 security questions correctly, they said I must come into one of the branches in order to get my account number... security questions are bogus/useless if you always have to have your account number. My information was fully verified but they still wouldnt help me recover it. Even the online form requires your account number... worst website ever... Revision They called me the next day and cleared this up! I appreciate the call!

Ive been with Unitus for several years. I have never had an issue. My call in questions have always been pleasant and helpful. Having a snap check option helps me a lot due to my location to the nearest shared branch. That is not their fault. I have nothing bad to say about them. I have no idea about wait times as I have only been in the branch a couple of times (I started my account on the phone) and my wait wasnt any longer than say US Bank who I will never bank with again.

Sometimes a long line inside, but great service. Drive-up also, so I dont need to get out of the car and many times faster than inside.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received. Theres always a line a mile long and only 1-2 tellers working. If you need to speak to a Banker you better make your presence known, because they will blatantly ignore you until you do. This place and its employees is nothing short of a bad joke.

They do make you wait sometimes, its like being at the post office and waiting for the one available clerk to help you. Today I was standing in line, there were 3 or 4 tellers at the windows but only one was actually helping customers standing in line, so the wait seemed forever. The guy in front of me also noticed the long wait, he was on crutches and I could tell he was getting tired of waiting. . .

I was a member of Unitus for a few years but i left because they grew larger and started putting their non business customers second. This branch is ok, its generally pretty busy and the lines are long.

So, I walk in to deposit a check, and ask if they have any openings. The teller passes a note along to her manager to see what he can do for me. A job referral service AND a place where I can deposit my money? Been here for 5 years, and closing my Wells Fargo checking account, today.
