Navy Federal is the worst institution ever. They allowed a loan to be opened with false information and refuse to be responsible for it. They will not help you. They do not care. 2 appeals and nothing. Police report filed. This bank is not secure and it will eventually happen to you. Do not bank with them. You will be sorry. I have had fraud on my credit cards as well. This place is not secure. I would pull your money immediately.

If I could give no stars I would the 2 bank tellers there have the nastiest attitude. It’s as if they are angry that you are there to get money out. They need to be fired and get some real professional women in there to make customers want to stay coming back. This has to be the worst bank in the world. Cleveland Ohio location. I need to call head quarters and talk to them about my experience while there.

Been a member for 25 years and prior to the last two felt very comfortable with this credit union. Currently customer service is horrible. Ability to set up trusts beneficiaries etc very very difficult. Can’t speak directly to people who can address my problems. I no longer trust this credit union and would not recommend them as I have done in the past

Okay experience so far just used as a checking saving account. I wrote two checks using my account and one thing I learned is I would NEVER write another check using this credit union seems like they purposely wait to process the check and when it finally clears after about a month later they are quick to charge $29 fee and mess up whatever you wrote the check for. When asked to remove fee they always say unfortunately it’s not the banks fault when it is. I used to work for banking now I know they are doing this to get money for their profit sharing at the end of the year. Very dirty tactic I officially tore up the rest of the checks I had for this account. I rather use Chase bank for checks moving forward at least they process they checks right away.

I once had direct deposit with Navy Federal when I started receiving Social Security, Child Support found out and took my Social Security for that Month almost causing me to be evicted from my apartment and causing checks that I had wrote ( NAVY FEDERAL CHECKS ). and caused my Navy Federal account to be closed. I am an eight year Marine Corps Disabled Marine Corps Veteran Twice Honorable Discharged and I personally feel I should lose a Credit Union that I have been dealing with since Marine Corps Boot Camp. I feel it is a disgrace that the Child Support System are allowed to destroy individuals personal accounts without allowing them a second chance, it to the VA. Over thirty five years to diagnose me with PTSD which has affected me all of my life in all areas of my life. If any consideration would be given into REOPENING MY PREVIOUS ACCOUNT BASED ON NO NEGLIGENCE OF MY OWN BUT THE COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, STATE OF OHIO.

The absolute worst. They lock your card if you try to buy anything and say it s fraud protect when it really just makes it impossible to buy anything when you bank with them. I tried to buy something off Amazon, they locked it. Called and sat on the phone for an hour, they said it was fixed. So I tried to buy tires for my car, nope! Fraud protection again, card locked. I go through the process again, and then try to buy something from the gas station to check. Your card has been locked so to suspicious activity . These were all consecutive transactions. I haven t been able to use my card in a week. And no one has been willing to help. I just get attitude. Would give a negative rating if it was possible.

Worst experience ever. Over the phone Navy Federal is very professional with 9/10 outstanding customer service. I do not have a branch in my state but my family was traveling so we stopped at this location to print off a loan check. The first day I was told the check was not in the system.. ok no worries, that is understandable. I came back the next day and the person who was helping to print out the check did not know how to do anything. He had to call someone else on the phone numerous times to complete the process. I had to sign the same print out 4 times due to his errors.. Having a customer service background myself I completely understand hands on experience learning but after the 2nd mistake I feel like someone else should have taken over or at least came to assist and supervise. A 15-20 minute process turned into an HOUR. I would not recommend this branch to anyone unless they have no other choice but be prepared for the people to be extremely rude like they hate their job, extremely slow, and not knowledgeable at all.

This branch is advertised as having a 24hr ATM which is false. NFCU is too big of a credit union to not have an ATM. This is unacceptable. People drive from all over the state and from out of state only to discover no ATM. Unacceptable.

The staff is always very friendly, but the app continuously goes down and you have no way to look into your account. Everytime my check is deposited, the app goes down and my card declines even though there is money in the account before the app goes down. Very disappointing and will be switching to another bank ASAP.

Having to go downtown or online vice being able to interface or ATM is a nuisance in this city. Thus this being a tertiary account vice primary; applied for loan and denied. Couldnt verify. #ahWhat!???

Good luck. They cant set up auto pay like most CC companies, you can do a set amount, but you cant setup like min payment . They are hot and cold as far as limits, there are other credit unions that treat you a lot better. Just mho... Watch this, they even have some crazy verification where they decline every transaction, I check my balance, almost zero balance, but they are declining transactions because they want verification its not fraud, huh.... click verify then try again, ok not declined this time....ahhhh

Ive had NFCU for 15 years, I think they are pretty good. They have free credit reporting and have answered the phone at 3 am (I was over seas so it was 3am here.) Taking one star off because the closest localle is in Cleveland in the federal building. They need more branches or at least ATMs in Ohio.

I have been with Navy Federal credit Union close to 25 years. I found that they are above and beyond any bank Ive ever used relationship wise. I only wish that my husband wouldnt have caused the loss for them so that my credit would still be good with them. I remember the time when I could just sign my name and get whatever I needed. As far as money need my car fixed. Need a tires needed? Anything money for anything? I could go there and get it? You know but hindsight is 2020 when you have a husband but thank God I have one.

I guess low rates only matter when you have the service to back it. As a proud veteran, I could not have been more disappointed in the service I received when trying to gain membership. After multiple attempts, I was denied. During my first attempt, I was denied because they said their was a system issue and my application and its supporting documents werent received even though I received email confirmation. So, they told me I would need to resubmit a new application and the supporting documents. So, I did. Then, I received an email stating I was denied membership...again. This time they said my supporting documents didnt come through. Even though I (once again) received an email confirmation stated my documents were received. I called and spoke to a Josh. To my surprise, Josh was extremely short and rude. He didnt want to listen to anything I had to say. All he would state is you need to submit your supporting documents. He didnt offer any other means to send him my information. He didnt apologize for the inconvenience. It was almost as if he didnt want my membership. For anyone considering this company, BE AWARE AND CAUTIOUS. Im just happy this happened now instead of after I when would have taken out a loan (which is why I was pursuing the membership). Off to WRIGHT PATTERSON CREDIT UNION now!

She was patient kind and even laughed at my dry humor. I may not be the richest customer that they have banking with them but she took care of me as if I was a millionaire! Best customer service I have had from ANYWHERE in a very loooooooong time. Even her Louisiana accent was a pleasure to hear. Hope she sees this and it brightens her day. I really want to like Navy Federal but I ll be getting a new bank. This location is the only place to make a deposit within 100 miles. The location opens at 8:15 AM, however, you must be escorted to the 26th floor by an employee. I paid for parking, arrived right at 8:15 and waited 15+ minutes with a growing crowd of people in the lobby before giving up and leaving. If you aren t accessible to your customers, are you really even a bank?

Navy Federal as a whole is unprofessional, bad communicators, and more. Navy Federal put a restriction on my account. They couldnt tell me why. Ive waited on hold for hours at a time and they say the same thing every time, it is something internal and we will let you know the outcome via mail. The estimated time for this is 15 business days. Well its been 20 days already. Just send me a check with my money. Obviously, if Ive sent you all of my information Im confused as to why my account is fraudulent. People say they have good benefits for me this has been a headache. It maybe better to open an account in person because via internet its a mess.

Can I give them less than a star?? Dont get me twisted theyre a great bank. However I took out an auto loan with them that I paid off 20 of 25 thousand to and they conveniently lost my title too my vehicle. After this they continued to charge me each month for my payments. This all happened as they LITERALLY lost my title and told me they werent the lean holders over 2 years after Ive been paying them (garentee if I stopped paying them they would be) I got into my accident over a month ago and they still havent helped. My insurance company is even mad about it. I will NEVER get another auto loan through Navy Fed. I hope people read this so they know how it actually goes. I cant feed myself or kids at the moment due to thier stubbornness. I cant go to work because I dont have a way due to not having a vehicle because they wont pay out. They lost my title and tell me its my fault they did. Its been over a month after the accident happened. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Published at 2 years ago
I have been a member with them for years, and never had any complaints. But due to Covid this is getting ridiculous, they really need to invest in getting atm machines, so that people can deposit & take out their money when they need to some kind of way. The only way to deposit or take out your money is finding some unknown atm machine, and then you have to wait 5 days for it to deposit. They also really need to have a stand alone bank outside the federal building! I ended up opening another bank account with a different bank, so that I don t have to be sent in circles just to deposit or take out money from my account. People have lives & important things to do!

I would give these guys 0 starts if I could. A pre-approval from this company means nothing. I tried to sell a house to someone pre-approved for $500,000 by Navy Fed. and it took them like 3 weeks to decide they actually wouldnt do the loan fpr the buyer because the person was working from home? Like.... what? Why are you preapproving people whose EMPLOYMENT is not approved? Get a grip and grow a process. Complete waste of time that cost me at least $10,000 when I had to go back to the market and was them basically forced to accept a lower price. TRASH UNDERWRITING - DO NOT ENGAGE.

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. My fiancé and I recently tried to purchase our first home together and we chose Navy Federal as our mortgage provider because according to their mission statement, they are a not for profit, member owned bank that is committed to delivering exceptional customer service, rates, and consumer care to their members. Our experience with NFCU could not have been further from any of those things listed above. Our loan officer was almost entirely impossible to get a hold of for days (and finally weeks) at a time. We were bounced back and forth between multiple different people (because our loan officer was MIA) in the process of trying to close our loan, given conflicting information, and generally left hung out to dry. We are both self-employed individuals. This poses a challenge for securing any kind of mortgage (even without COVID being involved), as the qualifications for what is acceptable income to financial institutions varies from shop to shop. We expressed our concerns with that in the very beginning and my fiancé and I both bent over backwards to make sure we provided every possible piece of information that could be helpful to our loan officer and the other people we spoke with (we responded to many information requests within the same business day). The level of disorganization during our loan process was actually astounding. According to the Navy Federal website, they currently have over $92mil in outstanding loans on their books. They currently have a total of $148mil in assets and I quite frankly have no idea how they were able to achieve either of those numbers given my experience with the company. It became clear in the end that our loan officer didnt feel she could confidently close this loan and rather than tell us that we were in trouble (thus giving us the opportunity to find other financing without losing the house we bid on), she decided to simply run the clock out on us and kill our loan in the pipeline on the last day of the month of July. Not only did this terminate our loan, but it also caused us to lose the house we bid on. If you are considering using NFCU for your banking needs, or more specifically, your mortgage needs; dont. I know there are plenty of people out there that simply want to paint themselves as the victim to get a couple bucks or some attention, but I promise you that is not the case here. I cant imagine anything we could have done to be more responsive, accommodating, or reasonable during our mortgage process.

In general NFCUs are mostly excellent. However this particular office is inside the Federal Building in Cleveland Ohio. Despite claiming otherwise It has been closed and off limits to the public for over a year. As the only NFCU office in the entire state of Ohio it is intenable that they have not made arrangements to provide service to their customers as some of the other tenants in the building have done.

After being told multiple of times it should be processed in 60 days i come to find out after the 95 business days that it will be another 50 business days for them to process the request..Thats is so unsatisfactory. A FDIC insured bank taking a half a year in business days to process any request should be illegal. The CEO should read this and TAKE THE NAVY OUT OF THE FEDERAL BECAUSE THEY DEFINITELY DO NOT TAKE CARE OF SERVICE MEMBERS,!!!

It is important to note that this is a federal building and you will be subjected to search and must go through a metal detector. I did not realize that when I went. As for this navy federal this is the friendliest navy federal Ive visited. The tellers were superior and understanding. I appreciated this because I was a little frazzled today. One of the ladies in the bank was super nice and occupied my 4 year old daughter while I completed my transaction. This one is a winner for sure. I m super glad.

My credit is average at best (mid 600s)After being a Navy Federal member for less than a month, I received a preapproval auto loan for 18k and an offer of 19k that I had the option of receiving (no down payment) I found a car right at 18k and purchased it but a week later was unhappy with the dealership and it s service department. No problem, Navy Federal canceled the check on the first car, redid my loan and had me in another BETTER car two days later! I went from driving a 2009 Chevy Malibu to a 2017 Lincoln MKZ with 20k miles on it. Thanks Navy Federal!

This bank never really helps me with anything! But they will gladly accept my direct deposit with no hesitation. No matter how much money I put into this bank, when I ask for help the answer is always no! I cant depend on this bank for anything other than charging me fees.

Used to be a great bank. Im changing to capital one now. USAA, Navy Federal and the worse Marine Federal are just terrible for service members.

I honestly love Navy Federal Credit Union, they have helped me out with credit cards and I have had a checking and savings account with them for a decade. They are one of the only banks that have no service fees. The only problem(s) I have are the times that they are open and the lack of convenience to actually be able to do business inside of the bank. There needs to be more branches that are stand alone or they need to open at around 7 or close at around 6 or add Saturday hours. If you fix any of those issues, inadvertently the others would be fixed. I have had to open up another account at a different bank in order to be able to do business. 8:15am to 4:15pm only works for retired people and military/ government people who are already in the building. If I need to deposit money, I literally have to call off work or try to come in to work late. Compound that with the disaster of downtown Cleveland parking, the security check point in the federal building and the traffic and youll begin to see why its almost impossible to make this Navy Federal branch a primary bank for a busy working class 32 year old, and seeing how this is the only branch in Ohio, Ill be using PNC as my primary bank from now on.

I have no problems with Navy Federal Credit Union but could you guys at least STAY OPEN LONGER considering its THE ONLY branch in Ohio?????????? People have lives; I work 60Hrs / week and when my mom passed away, there were things I needed to take care of IN PERSON that I couldnt. I almost didnt close on the house because of this nonsense. It wasnt even that, I had to open an Estate Account in her name which thank Beelzebub we had a rain day were I work or else I would have been SOL.

Better than Banks

I wish we had good things to say. My family is full of service men and women, and NFCU was not up to standards. We had been pre approved for a mortgage months in advance, found a home, and were reassured by our loan officer that things were in order. Somehow, three days prior to our closing, they terminated the loan. Now our family is literally left without out a roof over our head, and I have no idea what were going to do... Apparently the loan officer should never have pre-approved us in the first place, and she pushed our loan through without the proper knowledge of her own product terms, only to inform us of the error after we had invested thousands into the inspection, appraisal, and preparing to move. This has been a truly terrible experience, and they didnt show us any remorse whatsoever. Please just be aware that there are a lot of credible small businesses looking to help people get financed, and sometimes the larger organizations just dont care about the ramifications of their actions.

Absolute worse mobile deposit service ever. They dont accept money orders (fine). Left out one letter on the endorsement side, and they declined my cashiers check. USAA will always be #1. Thats why I am 10 years strong with them all services. Step your game up Navy federal. Dangit!!! This is getting old.

My husband is a African so I thought he was getting this treatment by himself, Name it they did it lies after lies robbed him for his money every Friday and was caught this particular time because of counting his money the correct way the management found out the error on the teller and gave his $50 back but I knew she knew cause it being done every Friday smh so they can still $10 $20 etc but this one Friday it was $50 so him speaking broken English was not the reason for this criminal behavior they are very criminal minded people. If you get a lady name Ashley in the what ever department beware she crooked its to much to go in details with this credit Union BEWARE !!!!! Banking here is like setting yourself to robbed

I needed to replace my card because of some fraudulent activity on my card, and I came to the credit union to get my replacement and while I was there I got a parking ticket and the credit union reimbursed me the money back. Awsome great job and good customer service.

This credit union is horrible. For an institution that is supposed to help veterans they are not even slightly intrested in doing business ethically let alone supporting veterans. My identity was stolen and this credit union not only allowed the abuse and misuse of my accounts, but when I notified them of it they froze my accounts. Each time I called and went to a branch they changed the story line. The end result is that tied up my accounts for weeks despite me making numerous phone calls and going into a branch over an hour away from me to provide whatever documantion they required for their investigation. They should be embarrassed by their behavior not only to a victim of identity theft, but to a veteran. Please take my advice and stay away!!!

Hello, I am currently banking with Navy Federal credit Union, which is a federally owned. Me and my spouse have been with them since 2011 and never had a altercation with them until a few months ago when they charged us severely fees while we had money being deposited and showing approval. We contacted them via phone and they told us that we would still be charged the fees do to their hold time on the checks deposited. And for the recorded we were never told of the policies nor the notified of the gold times if any. We need help and assistance with this companies unethical and untraditional business practices and the way they treat also very many services Memeber and their families. We have had 2 IRAs, 4 savings Certificates, 4 Credit cards and one big car loan and all have been paid on time and never late. We also have a savings account for a little daughter as well with 2 savings accounts. WE WILL NEVER BANK WITH NFCU EVER AGAIN AFTER WE PAY THE REMAINING BALANCES OFF. And when we called they told us we can not record them on when we were discussing, I wounded way, maybe because they know they are in the wrong.

We have been with NFCU for many years and never had a problem. Their main office is in Merrisfield VA. The branch in downtown Cleveland Ohio is were we go and will continue to go. Our children all have accounts there as well.

If you are a Vet. They do not care about you. they are a bunch of liars. I had an account with them for 6 years closed because of an overdraft, when there was money in my account. I had not used that account in almost a year. So where did my money go? I called and asked. They could not give me an answer. Then started passing me around to different departments. Dont ask for their corporate office number. The dont have one. Sounds kinda suspicious if you ask me.
