The Alcova Team - Russell, Amy, and Judy were Great. They were so amazing that you would have assumed they were buying a house for themselves. I never felt like I was unable to buy a home because of them. They would phone or text me if I didnt answer an email until I did. I set a three-month timetable for them and my real estate agent because I have until May to vacate my present rental house. I closed on March 19, 2024, after being introduced to Russell at Alcova Mortgage in January of this same year. During the acquisition of our first house, I got courteous and competent assistance. Our mortgage experience with Russell and his team, was absolutely phenomenal and by far surpassed our expectations. They were extremely thorough, personable, and compassionate through this process. Most loan officers just want to close a loan and make a dollar; but not this team. They were attentive to our needs & concerns. I have used Russell and His Team in business for over 11Years. There is not a team more knowledgeable or efficient that I have worked with in the 30 years I have been associated with Real Estate! Our agency covers a broad area (seven counties in two states) and there are certain prevalent loans for certain markets. In one county a conventional loan is used most, in others a government insured mortgage is a must. It has served us very well to use this team as they are simply experts in every loan situation. Especially in government insured mortgages such as VA, USDA, and FHA! Russell is always able to be reached and prompt in his reply when you need him. I have learned so much from him that I feel like I could be a loan officer and excel because of the knowledge he has shared with me! From building a buyers credit, determining best how my client should proceed with a mortgage, a refinance, a construction loan, or using his knowledge in determining the best route for my clients he seems to always have the answer. When the market fell to the bottom in 2007 and 2008 I had a large number of buyers that although had good credit could not get a loan almost anywhere. I met Russell and sent those clients to him and to my surprise a vast number of them were approved and we closed them quickly. He and his entire team worked so hard and took several extra steps that other mortgage broker teams simply dont do. I owe my survival in Real Estate to this team. So if you want the best advise, the best proficiency, expert knowledge, and a personal touch all along the way you could not choose a better team to work with. In fact, it is the only team that I truly endorse as pros in the arena.

Russell is extremely thorough, thoughtful, accurate and quick to answer any questions. He is easy to contact and replies extremely promptly. I also believe he is trustworthy and honest. I would definitely recommend working with Russell. I know anyone working with Russell would have to be 100% satisfied. I must say that Blue Ridge Bank and Russell Smith and process team made our home buying experience a very pleasant experience. They showed us every step ahead of time with videos all the way. Russell would answer questions in the evenings and on weekends.the process team held my hand as needed and that`s not easy from across the country. They were about the only bank that would do a full finance on a construction loan, but good God the process was miserable and took forever! By far the worst process we ve been through followed closely by dealing with the VA.

I received a phone call about four days before our mortgage loan was to close. I was told that the final underwriting reviewed and declined my application. That also meant my earnest money, house inspection and property appraisal money was lost. My wife and I was truly devastated. The one and only good thing that came out of My American Dream, that became a American Nightmare, was the name and phone number of a man name RUSSELL SMITH. I was told by the guy that was trying to close my loan at the other mortgage company was that, if anyone could get your loan close, it will be Russell. I am self employed so the regrouping process did take a few months. Just a few days ago, my wife and I closed on our mortgage loan. We are convinced that this loan would not have happen if RUSSELL SMITH and AMY KURTYKA and their entire team was not there for us. Thank You All for making it happen for us!!!

Russell Smith and Amy Kurtyka are simply the best in the business. They completely saved us from disaster during our home purchase. My wife and I had been working for almost 2 months with another bank on a mortgage. 1 week before closing, despite meeting all conditions, the bank denied the loan. We were crushed and desperate. With us WAY too far along in the process to start the home search again, and with an anxious seller, there was only one person recommended to us: Russell Smith. They told us if anyone could pull it off it was Russell (and Amy). And they did it. IN 6 DAYS (start to finish) we were approved and were able to close on the original close date. No one can believe it, and neither can we. Russell and Amy worked well into the night every one of those 6 days and pulled off the impossible. Now we have our dream house. We will forever be in their debt...so to speak. I will never work with another bank. Blue Ridge Bank should be the first and last place you look to meet your lending needs. Dont waste your time, go with the best.
