Service was average. But if you go in there for the very first time, youd be very lost in how the system goes. Went in there for the very first time and I wasnt even sure if there was an information desk. Asking someone on the side to help you, was a bit difficult. The workers arent bad at answering questions of concerns. It was pretty much straight forward. The only thing thats different from any other bank is that you need a ticket and wait for your turn, in order for them to help you.

Shania Brown has been a complete Angel with my request for a personal loan! After being denied a membership originally online, I came to the nearest branch to try again, thats when I met with Shania. She was very professional, polish, friendly, and helped set me at ease. Very knowledgeable about the different accounts whether it was checkings or savings, she offered them all, which I was very grateful for. She rest assured that everything will be fine with my loan request, and she was right! Everything went smoothly! When I arrived, I approached a teller who could not resolve my problem and refused to assign me a manager despite my claims to have emailed him. Although frustrated, I finally got assistance from Jamel. He provided exceptional customer service, addressing my concerns and ensuring that I left satisfied. Wow! I just walked out of MCU after an amazing encounter with a bank teller named Cullen! I came in to withdraw money for my trip to Costa Rica. This isn t my main bank account but I typically transfer money to this account for travel purposes. Cullen was very professional and he even helped me sign up for the app in order to receive notifications while traveling. I was able to notify the bank that I was traveling with his help. I feel reassured now that I will have no issues with my bank account during my travels. Thank you Cullen!

This bank has the worst customer service you can imagine. I ve been trying to contact a mortgage loan officer regarding an application I submitted two weeks ago and can t find anyone to help me. I would give no stars if I could. So I called was hung up on when the lady couldnt get it together and didnt want a bad review. Later , I called and was told that I could do any transaction to unlock my account ,including the ATM. This was not true .I get there wait on line , give my id and card to the teller for her to say I have to speak to someone to unlock my account . And there are three people ahead of me.apparently because I havent deposited or withdrew for a year,they lock accounts despite no unusual activity . Now they have to sit with me to update my account and ID....like what? This is outrageous to me . Chambers streets is in the financial district..most of the people using mcu are doing so at lunch. They close at 4:30 and are probably most busy between 11am and 2pm.If you require someone to sit and wait for something as innocuous as an account unlocking,that should be told to people on the phone if they call. Or at least alert people via the app that they need to make a transaction to keep the account open. Three people had to leave to get back to work. I dont care how smiley someone is when they tell me something rediculous...its still rediculous and doesnt do anything for the inconvenience caused by this poorly thought out policy.and the staff here is nonchalantly moving around to service people.wild. I and others wasted my whole lunch waiting and may not even be able to handle business . Where was this level of scrutiny when the CFO was skimming money and embezzling funds to use to buy a long island home and buy lottery tickets. I may keep this account open,but minimally. I dont suggest anyone who doesnt get direct deposit here, keep any significant money here. I am a Member of over 10 years! And it smelled musty all throughout my wait

Happy to see MCU making changes to make our banking experience better. I was pleased to know they had a new more up to date location. Very clean modernized design. I was in need of a new atm card. The staff even seemed to be more inviting. Fingers crossed that they keep this same momentum and update other locations. Lastly the I was super happy to see they did away with the whole take a ticket routine. They now use iPads to take your information upon arrival I forgot to mention I was even given one of the new MCU tap and go cards. totally new look to the card.

Two months ago, I went into MCU bank to open two accounts. Kevin Canty was the representative that help me set up these accounts. I went to the branch a day before in regards to changing my last name, and they didnt accept a copy of the marriage certificate and required the original. I was upset I had to come back because my name on my state ID showed the change and couldnt understand why wasnt that sufficient . I went back this morning and Ms. N. Braswell assisted me and explained the reason, I know those arent her rules but I guess I understand the reason. She was well mannered, professional and made the changes and provided me a new card. Based on my profession as a Client service manager she gave 100% that is why Im writing this review to give her praise and to let her know her service did not go unnoticed. Bank is poorly staffed , their customer service is mentally abusive, you either wait two hours on the phone or an hour and forty five minutes in a branch. They have a 1k dollar a day limit on the amount of money you can withdraw from an ATM, so usually to avoid going into a branch, I withdraw money in a two day time period which is very inconvenient. I only keep the account open to receive my paycheck two days early,since Im a city employee. Otherwise,I would close it

Id give this location less than one star if it was possible. I get there at 10:05 and let the young lady know Im in need of a replacement card. She takes my name and I have a seat. There were 2 people ahead of me at the time. As I wait, the two people were seen and now its 10:20. Another lady (who had a 10:15 appt) came in and proceeded by another gentleman (10:30 appt). I ask the young lady how many people are ahead of me, she says 2. I inquire as to how since Ive now been there longer than anyone else that is waiting. She calls the lady with the 10:20 appointment and I wait. Ok, she has an appointment, at this point I assume Im next because again everyone else came after me. Its now 10:35 and she proceeds to call the gentleman that walk in 5 minutes ago and states he has an appointment. Never mind Ive been waiting 30 minutes, and employees are walking around laughing and joking with 6 clients in the lobby waiting for assistance. Even the manager is walking around like there isnt a soul in the bank. What kind of customer service are you guys offering? Why is there a 30-minute wait to be seen when the bank is empty? As Im requesting to remove my name from their list, the manager (black) can he help? Are you kidding me, you walk pass me five times? No, you cant help me and Ill definitely let every city employee I know to avoid your location at all costs. Mind you I still didnt get the card. Ill go to the location on Staten Island.

This instruction sucks. Waiting on the phone always for 1 hour. App dont even allow check blocking or inquiries. For some transactions they require phone text or voice verification. However, no voice or text comes through. The company lacks sophisticated modern technology. If I didnt have a mortgage with them I would have left. I witnessed one customer service rep is very rude and aggressive to a lady who walked in just to do business. She didn t have a name tag, but heavy set with glass and low cut hair. Her service is terrible and I never imagined to ever hear such rude behavior in a banking system. Without us customers, they won t have a job. Customer Service training is definitely needed throughout this location especially with those ladies sitting in the cubicles.

Customers should be allowed inside the bank when they need teller services. Why are we standing on line in the ATM area? The line is disrupting the flow of people coming in and out just to use the ATM. There is more than enough room inside the bank to stand 6 feet apart. There are other banks that allow customers inside as long as masks are on. This needs to change and soon.

I paid off a loan on time-since we the poor class who paid off through deposits. And the 3 points score I receive was a detrimental to me. I requested a another loan only $2,000 was turn down for credits scores even though I paid off through deposit . It s sad they don t work with everyone. And calls service poor. Where do I begin? $32 fee for $2 transaction. I wasn t aware of I was being charged for certain transactions. My experience has been ok with MCU. I ll be using a different bank soon. I asked to have some fees removed because it added up to $200 and they are not covering the transaction, they are just charging me additional fees. Seems like it s making me more in debt than resolving the situation. I reported my card being lost months ago and unauthorized transaction, never received a follow up.

I hope someone from corporate office reads this review or someone who can better guide me. As Ive already notified a member via the 212 number that MCU has for assistance. One day back in October 2020, I called MCU to find out if I needed a appointment to come into a branch to deposit a check because due to covid 19 I have had to schedule appointments whenever I had a check to deposit due to a last name change. I could not simply put it into the machine(ATM). After that call to MCU I noticed that my card had declined the next day. I called to find out why because I have money in my account. The customer service representative told me I had been entering the wrong pin. I was confused because my pin had been the same since I had MCU for 16 years. I had to go into a branch to change my pin a week later. Fast forward to this month here April2021 I noticed a transaction that was unfamiliar to me, I immediately called MCU and asked what it was but the teller said it was a automatic withdrawal and I dont have any automatic payments coming out of my account. I told her to stop the charge and tell me if any other charges as such had took place. She noticed this very same charge had been taking place since october( remember this is when I spoke with the teller about depositing the check) no coincidence there. I believe that the representative that I spoke with is the person that is stealing from my account or who is committing fraud. Why because after that particular call is when everything started. I was even notified that my email was changed which would have allowed this person to see all of my transactions (learn patterns) and see when I have certain amounts of money in my account. I hope someone reads this and can start an investigation into that rep because if it was done to me it is being done to so many others. I urge everyone to check their account statements and look out for something that says equity. Also check your email to ensure youre getting them because that is how this MCU crook rep managed to steal from me by seeing my activity. I have never had a problem with MCU until now and this is disgusting. I want this person arrested if it is in fact the one who did it. It has to be a inside job to change certain details about my account.

New ATMs are horrible. They don t let you choose what account to withdraw from even when you click More . They just give you a receipt and say you have insufficient funds. Me and 4 others were unable to make withdrawals and ended up just leaving. There s no signs to show how to use these new machines and their customer support is useless.

Teller was extremely rude and discourteous. I had a 10AM appointment at this location. After going through the mandatory temperature check, I was DIRECTED to go to window 6. When I got there, I heard the teller say (whether directly or indirectly is besides the point) and I quote Out of all of the windows why they gotta send him here. When I called her out on it and asked to speak to her manager, she pulled the classic I am the manager BS. That s absolutely NOT how to treat the first customer of the day. Completely unacceptable in my opinion. This particular MCU has always had poor service, whether it be long wait times or very very rude tellers. It s not acceptable to go somewhere where you are putting your hard earned dollars and have to experience the horrible customer service over and over again. MCU really needs to train its employees on better customer service, or else they will lose me as a customer, because there are plenty of other credit unions out there. That s just my two cents....

It s impossible to ever speak to a live person on the phone, I can t get through to online banking. Customer service is never helpful and they don t answer emails or call back. My money is trapped in this bank and I can t do anything about it. With their unreasonable hours it s impossible to ever get there if you have to work. It s really sad that these people can literally leave you on hold for 3 hours and then hang up on you which has happened to me several times a day every day for a week and a half.

This is the worst branch I ve been to. Highly unprofessional and no help at all. I visited this location to request a card through the mail I gave the teller my new address and she told me a week. After a week went by I did not receive my card. A representative informed me because of my address change the bank did not send out my card. I really wish someone would ve told me this in advance. My second trip to this branch I informed the teller about my new location and she told me I would receive my card in a week that was also false.

Teller was rude and when I asked about policies and procedures, she threw a snotty attitude and said loud and clear: Im not gonna argue today and proceeded to call her supervisor. Instead of offering solutions they were rude. Any bank, including HSBC, Chase and Citibank, if I am depositing a check to my name from another bank to a different one, as long as the front is signed, the bank can stamp the back or have the name printed (its my account to my account). Stay away from this bank.

Customer service is disgusting. Very rude, dismissive. Getting online banking set up is a tedious experience, and they make mistakes with your money all the time. Their loans arent all that, you can get similar terms and interest from online banks or lending clubs. Its convenient if youre a city worker and want direct deposit, but I would rather avoid the headache and use a commercial bank.

Deposited my sons dorm room refund into my account with both signatures as per an mcu associate and was still denied with the bank stating we both needed to be there. Like which one is it? The check was supposedly sent to me almost 2 weeks ago. I live a block away from MCU and I havent received the said check yet. Will be calling my sons school to make sure there was no fraud done. This place is so slow. One two tellers for 24 people and each person takes about 15 to 20 minutes to deal with. Every other bank has a minimum of 5 tellers. This place needs to work on performance if not I m going to another bank.

when I first became a city employee, I was told that banking with MCU provided many perks. Direct deposit is processed sooner, interest is great, and you have access to good loans. Direct deposit is definitely processed sooner. I guess if you are living paycheck to paycheck that is a perk. interest is a joke. so is customer care. for months the website had a bug that did not allow me to register or access my account online. the branches are few and in between and due to the nature of my title, I never could make it in. Months after opening The account, i was finally able to access the online features ( aka view my balance without paying a fee). P.S. the mobile app AND mobile banking are still both bugged and dont work for me. phone support is also horrendous. There is an automated line which allows you to access a very bare menu of options but nothing helpful such as transferring money or stopping deductions. I discovered after a fee was taken out of my account that there was a minimum balance of $500 required after one year of opening the account. This had never been explained to me in the past. This was the last straw for me. I discovered that you cannot close the account online or via phone so I walked 20 minutes during work to try and talk to someone. The bank was in the style of a DMV. i spoke to a clerk and was told to grab a ticket. The queue was posted on TV screens. Finally when I was called I was told I would have to wait 6 weeks for deductions to stop before I needed to come back in person and close the account. TL;DR: MCU is inconsiderate, inconvenient, and offers little to no benefits for NYC employees. I was truly shocked to discover a credit union servicing so many people for so long could be so horrible. STAY AWAY!!!!

Before you get too excited about their low interest rates, please do a bit of research and read all of the caveats, as it is certainly not easily found. I saved a little over 2.5% moving from Chase to MCU, which translated to saving around $30 a month. Not ground-breaking, but its still almost $2000 over the course of all the loan payments. However, if you go straight to MCU for a new loan, you can save even more with 1.5%. As enticing as that is, here are things to pay attention to: * You need to set up direct deposit from your employer straight into your MCU account. If you dont, theres a penalty at the end of the month * You need to set up automatic payments from your MCU checking towards the car loan. If you dont, theres a penalty at the end of the month * You need to maintain a $500 balance in your MCU checking account at all times. If you dont, theres a penalty at the end of the month * You cannot pay your loan via mailing in a check (as told by a MCU rep) * You can pay your loan at the teller window via cash or check, but branches are far and few between. However, the above points still remain in effect regardless * Even if you successfully set up direct deposit, it will work for a few pay periods, then rejected for no reason. MCU seems to have a horrible Automated Clearing House (ACH) network. In retrospect, I should have kept it with Chase, pay more towards principal, and still keep my interest payments low.
