My experience with Bethpage Federal Credit Union has been wonderful, The Rep Ms. K. Cole who assisted me with opening my checking and savings account was very helpful, answered all my questions, gave me the floor to ask anything I needed to ask, was very engaged and kept a conversation very polite and kept a smile on her face. I have been a member of Bethpage Federal credit Union for over 20 years. During that time, I ve experienced many things through Bethpage FCU. I have watched it grow. I loved its competitive rates. Then I saw it trying to get too big and too fast. I ve seen the collapse of decent customer service when it was farmed out to the Baltimore, Maryland area. A few weeks ago, I saw that Bethpage was down for a few hours. When my phone told me there was an issue, I went to my local branch. The parking lot was almost full, and there was an employee at the door of the bank. He was there to tell everybody that Bethpage has had an issue and is down. H had no idea of when it would be back up. I listened to peoples stories about how they needed cash or how they needed to deposit something. Well, just like everything, it doesn t last forever and we move forward. What I don t understand is that there was no email from the head of BFCU to all of the Bethpage members, regarding what happened. There was no email that said, sorry we made a mistake. There was no email that said yes we had a problem and now we re looking for ways so it won t happen again. What was once my trusted little Credit Union has now turned into a place that doesn t care about their customer service and doesn t care about whether or not anybody had problems when the system was down. You ve become just another bank without a heart. Sad.

Stacy was wonderful when she took down my information. The process was pretty seamless. I would have gave them five stars if one person wasnt so dismissive with my questions and tried to push things along which was a little annoying. I shouldnt have to feel apologetic to ask questions when my home is being put on collateral. I am not going to mention this persons name just because she seemed like a nice lady but just slightly impatient. She needs to understand I am applying for a HELOC and putting my house on the line, but Candice made it up by answering all my questions in great detail and she was super helpful from creating my savings account to making me feel secure. I will be closing Saturday and might update this review if necessary.

This bank is useless to anyone who works a normal job during the week they can do nothing for you except for during their very short and selective hours. Im trying to just use my debit card right now to change over all my autopays to a joint account and its bouncing the card on every site and now i have to... What? Take off work for a whole day so i can get my bank to let me use the perfectly fine new card they gave me to use the money i put in their bank? Honestly disgusting you cant reach these people on a saturday or sunday for even the most trivial ridiculous things like approving payments and notifying them that using my card at all isnt fraud cause apparently all they are capable of is flagging every single payment as fraud rendering my cards with them all useless half the time i need them. Its just such a joke that i cant pay netflix with an account in my name from my bank card with my name and social attached to it without getting the it might be fraud excuse its pitiful and they should be ashamed. If you want me to call you for every single damn purchase i make maybe you should facilitate that circus behaviour with employing someone to take those calls on the weekend like yknow any self respecting business would? This is like the 15th time ive gotten into an issue with bethpage that im ripping my hair out over cause they suck so bad with customer service and card services like you people seriously need to get your act together, feel free to give me a call if you need a new CEO cause clearly you are run by incompetents and im going to have to take my mortgage, other lending vehicles ill soon need and banking as a whole to another bank since bethpage is only interested in the part where i put money in and diligently refusing any time i try to take some out. I have been a BFCU member for over 30 years. My family and I are very happy with the many BFCU services and offerings. I can count on one hand the number of times I ve taken the time to write a review of a business but I absolutely felt the need to do so this time around. I wanted to highlight BFCU employee, Amy Blaser and the incredible professional she is. Amy was there (and continues to be!) to help my family navigate the many questions we had during a major life event that we were going through. I ve Tried on 3 Separate occasions to apply for a HELOC with this company since 2023 - 2024 An have tried / provided everything they asked of me, And all I got is the run around and my time absolutely wasted, they blamed there decision on my DTI but I m absolutely convinced there decision was racially and stereotypically generated, Regardless of my high income and excellent credit history. ***READ UPDATE BELOW*** Disappointed with the changes to Bethpage Customer Service. I too never received the credit card they claimed theyd sent me, Ive called and sat on hold for long periods of time, gave up, tried going through the app, tried going through their Customer service emails, and finally tried calling again. After more thst 46 minutes on hold, once again I gave up. Nobody will answer my questions about my missing credit card. Nothing has Been done to assist me in obtaining a replacement and its left me in a position of having no access to my account for 10+ days. Im 600 miles away from the nearest branch and I cannot get assistance. I used to Love Bethpage. I swore by them and encouraged all my friends and family to open accounts with them. ***UPDATE*** I finally got a call back from a customer rep who was really nice, which is what Im used to with BFCU... she still had to transfer me to another line and put me on hold, but nothing like what I was dealing with before... I hope they can get this situation sorted. Ive been informed that someone will reach out to me again In 24-72 hours, but since theres a holiday weekend ahead, itll be about a week, Id reckon. Well see. Ive been banking with BFCU for 10 years now and Im not ready to give up on them just yet. Just frustrated by the long periods of waiting to resolve this issue.

This bank has changed. You would be on hold for no more than 2 minutes, now anytime you call, morning, afternoon, or any day of the week, you wait more than 25 minutes for someone to answer and help you. Yes you can use the automatic call back feature but what good does that do? They call you an hour later and you are now working and you do not have time to answer. You are supposed to get help within 5 min which is a reasonable timeframe, not 25. Does this bank make enough money? I want to believe so, and if yes, why are they not employing more people, work force?

BFCU emailed that new credit card should have arrived by yesterday and should be activated today. Called to report card never arrived. Automated teller stated wait time for customer representative would be 12 minutes. On hold for 30 minutes while working on a project. Finished project and hung up. BFCU is a great organization for in person banking and digital banking. Trying to accomplish anything on the phone is pretty much impossible.

I needed to access five years worth of Bethpage FCU records for my moms accounts. I met with representative Lisa Giradi, who was so helpful, courteous and compassionate. The next day I realized that I needed a few additional statements printed, so Lisa assisted me again with that without a blink of an eye. I just wanted to give a glowing review to Bethpage FCU, their staff and especially Lisa from the 899 South Oyster Bay Road branch. Zero Stars. Good luck getting anywhere with customer support. On the phone over an hour speaking to two different people that are unable to resolve the account balance issue only to get disconnected. No, they did not call me back. I do not recommend doing business with Beth-page. If you do look forward to these issues. 1- Making loan payments form outside accounts. 2- Getting money into your checking and saving accounts form outside accounts. You have to write check to yourself and deposit it thought the app. I am not close to branch. 3- Upon paying off your loan the account ledger apparently stops working. Balance will show zero but you actually still owe the final interest. Yes, of course but they do not send out statements so online is the only way to view your balance. Which in my case says zero for well over a month. They don t know why it shows zero and will just place you on hold and give you the run around for over an hour until they just hang up or disconnect you. Stay for away. It s not worth the frustration of dealing with them.

This is maybe the worst organization I have ever dealt with in any industry. After having three months to close the loan, they were still asking me for new information the DAY OF CLOSE - all very basic and easy stuff that could have been done months prior. After that, I accidentally double paid my first mortgage payment because the first payment did not show up as completed. They assured me the duplicate payment could not be refunded, but that it would be applied to my next payment. That was fine with me. Instead, they put it in a Bethpage savings account, did not apply it to the payment, and hit me with a late charge. Yes, they hit me with a late charge for something I paid one month early. Once I challenged them on all of this, they provided some nonsense response and would not accept any responsibility.

WARNING: The worst credit union I have ever dealt with. I have been a long time customer of theirs for nearly 20 years now. I requested multiple times to have something as simple as a debit card sent to me. I have no access to my money. I was promised by two managers that the debit card would be overnighted to me. Absolutely nothing. I was promised that they would follow up with me with a tracking number. Again, nothing. No calls. No contact. Nothing. I left multiple messages for one of the managers and I was completely ignored. I was then told to make a phone appt with one of the branches since I reside out of state, so I did. They have not called me. No contact. Nothing yet again, and this even with a so called phone appt. Horrible organization. Im not sure how they stay in business with such poor customer service with their continuous lie after lie to customers. With all the competitors out there, I would not recommend doing any business with this credit union. Their customer service is HORRIBLE and by far the WORST I have ever seen. You have to wait hours on the phone to only get no where. Keep your money in a reliable organization. Go elsewhere to do your banking. Trust me. I would give zero stars if I was able to. Again, the worst credit union I have ever dealt with. Youve been warned. Customer Response: Please dont reply to me with your meaningless sorry just for public consumptive purposes to make yourself look good. Good for checking interest rates, bad for business transactions. you can t send a wire over 10k without going into a branch, and even when you try to do from your computer or app, it doesn t go through and you have to go to a branch, anyway. Bought out my lease with them and it has been a headache getting the title from their titles department/lease dept. Called multiple times been transferred and bounced around told they are taking care of it. 4 months later I still have no title and now Im getting letters from Bethpage that I need get the documents together to perfect the lien. All that is missing is the title which I still do not have. I even went to the DMV and wasted my time as they said all that is missing is the title. When I call they only have a record of one of my phone calls when in fact I have called 8 times since January to May. So very incompetent and frustrating I will never take out any loan with them again. RUN from this place they clearly do not get things done here.

RUN FROM THIS INSTITUTION! BFCU does not care how much of your time they waste. Cust Svce just transferred me 5 times. All five reps couldnt help me transfer money from my BFCU business checking to my BFCU personal checking. Most of the customer service reps sound so far away or muffled that you cant hear them anyway. I gave up talking to anyone live, and tried the TelService. After entering my SS# and pin, it started listing account numbers I dont own for me to transfer money into and out of. Using the BFCU credit card is a nightmare too. They never send a statement on time (or at all, some months) so you have to track them down each month to find out how much to pay. I am currently seeking a new credit union to put all my money and just canceled my credit card with them.

Possibly one of the worst customer service experiences, ever. Applied for a re-finance in June of 2020 and fast forward to December of 2020 with no progress. During that time Ive asked for updates -- no response from the processing company, the banker who filed my loan, the branch manager but only to receive a random email to file the same documents which Ive shared several times already. Ive left off many many details. As a customer who has taken out several mortgages across several banks this was the first time I felt where the bank honestly didnt care about me. Think twice about bringing any money here, or taking a loan from this bank -- it plain out stinks.

Absolutely horrible customer service and specifically the mortgage department. Learned they outsourced to a company in Maryland that is incompetent at best. They dont care about the customer, communication and actually took money from me that I am still fuming about. Took 5 months to do a refi and I could have bought my mortgage outright. They make everything difficult in the portal as well. As a result I have pulled all of my investments out of the bank which included CDs and youth savings amongst other accounts. Other than using for a good rate, I would strongly suggest banking elsewhere. Such a shame.

Great rates, but customer service is a horror show. The website is confusing, poorly laid out, and not at all user friendly. If there is fraud on your account, be prepared to wait weeks for the charges to be reversed. You will spend countless hours trying to resolve it to no avail. Will be closing all my accounts

The bank card I never use for transactions has been hacked. First call woman said very high volume of calls for fraud at BCU. Had to call another number to close my card and report. I was instructed to go to bank for replacement card and get charges refunded. Stopped by security and told I wasn t allowed to go through drive through either. They said to call another number to make an appt w an open branch. That number said they couldn t help me. Not surprised they were hacked. Poor infrastructure and worse customer service. Sooooo I have no bank card to access my accounts and cannot get my fraudulent charges reimbursed. *****if you re receiving a call or VM for fraudulent charges DO NOT CALL BACK. That number is fraudulent as well. Call the number on your card to be safe but sadly BCU won t be any help.

I have sent in numerous requests to close my 401K account or to have it transferred to a Florida bank and both myself and the bank officers at my Florida bank have been given the run around for two months. Its not as if its a whole lot of money and the behavior and total lack of consideration and professionalism is totally uncalled for.

Applied for a heloc and was declined because my home was a modular. Nowhere on the application did it ask if the house was a modular or state that they were not eligible for a line of credit. This bank uses deceptive practices. When I asked the processor about it he said he was just a processor and he didnt make the decisions. When I asked to speak to somebody that did make decisions he said to call the customer service line. Applying for credit like this uses a hard credit inquiry and damages your credit score. Buyer beware. Complaint filed with the Federal Banking Commission

Overall this credit union is very good. Where they fall down it the web site (bill payment specifically, which I use regularly) and their call center. On the web site, you can not export your bills into a standard spreadsheet format. You can do it for all the other pages, but not scheduled payments. Neither can you see the total due when you filter for all the bills due before your next paycheck. I have to write down the list and add them up *by hand*! What century are we living in here? Also the call center, while the service is fine, takes 3-5 minutes just to go through the menu and then all the security approvals to even ask a simple question like, What are your holiday hours?

I dont know how the service is in this branch but bethpage constantly messes up. I have a card due to the high interest rates but in the past, customer service has given me wrong information after wrong information. I have been with this bank over 12 years, never had any problems until I needed help with services. I paid off my mortgage and I am trying to get a satisfaction letter from them. But customer service is so bad; it takes me hours to get in touch with them over the phone (actually days) and they are still not helping me. The persons are rude and hang-up on me. I deal with other banks and never had such a problem. Right now I am on the phone with them, for over 10 minutes, and nobody assists me.

Been a memeber here since high school im now 33 years old and since day one have offered me a 5 star service. My account has been flagged for fraud activity several times over the years and they have protected my account they identified fraud locked the account and notified me immediately. They have always protected me showed me respect. When by phone I m thabked for being a long term member they do their best to resolve any issues, and when I stop inside they do their best of keeping the wait time down. Banking with this credit union has been an amazing time. Now the part they can use a little improvement in is when people call in like my self and relatives they provide very little information about loans or investing options.

Excellent and Terrible...... The employees in the branches give excellent service while the 800 call center has employees who know little and give out wrong answers. I blame top management for not addressing the problems at the 800 Call Center which is not even located in New York. Management needs to wake up and call the 800 number and realize the problems.

I have been a member of BFCU for over 30 years. My grandfather worked at Grumman many years ago and you couldnt get into BFCU unless someone got you in through family ties. Then the service was impeccable. As the years crept by and Bethpage went more commercial, their customer service has taken a nose dive. They absolutely do not care about customer satisfaction, the customer is and will be told they are wrong- even if they are not- and issues with their systems or faulty policies, more specifically charging me $.14 (or so) when my overdraft reads a zero balance - then telling me Im 30 days late bc I owe a balance- is unheard of...this went on for years and no one could explain the issue to me until this year when I finally closed the account- it was my fault bc when your account goes into overdraft and you pay it down (pay it in full), there is still a balance. If someone can explain that to me in English, Im willing to learn. Anyhow- its very sad because Ive had many car loans and mortgages paid in full through Bethpage, and you would think with a long term relationship in excellent standing, one would get decent treatment...not happening here. The only thing exceptional and keeping them in business are their low rates.

I was a fraud victim and Bethpage refused to provide me with critical information in ragards to the account. Although all the fraudulent loan funds were being wire transfered to Bethpage, they refused to help me obtain the correct info to fill with the local police and the FTC. They also WOULD NOT let me speak with the banch manager or provide me with a number to the actual branch. Basically, the customer service (overseas) couldnt answer my questions either because of the language barrier. Over two hours was spent on the phone, emails etc... and the results were poor. Im starting to wonder if this bank was actually part of the security issue itself when it comes to identity theft.
