I have been a member of Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union for a few years now. I have never had a bad experience!
I work in healthcare and my payments often got away from me due to my busy schedule. There was one woman Claudia that saved the day every time! She reached out every month and ensured my payment went through on time. She was always so pleasant and I actually looked forward to hearing from her every month! Not many can say such a thing when it comes to having to pay bills!
Claudia truly cares for her clients and you can tell she takes pride in what she does. Liberty Savings - you are lucky to have her!

I have I called to report an issue that I have every time t I get paid the bank takes double out of my account for my loans. I was told due to the system update it makes my loans looks as though they're in default. one employee helped me with this situation every time I called. called 2 weeks ago about a double payment. No call back and yesterday another double payment was taken out. I called only to be told the branch manager wouldn't allow him to reverse the payments. four payments in February for my one loan and three payment for car loan also in February but my loans are default Make it make sense. I will be visiting the main branch today. Hopefully we can get this resolved for good. if will leaving this bank. Been a customer for over 20yrs and never dealt with such nonsense.

If I could give this bank zero stars I would but I will just sum it up. This bank is horrible in every way, customer service sucks, they are uneducated, they are quick to help their friends before attending to potential new clients, the music was horrible and over all there were a lot of shady people around. I didn't feel confident in sitting and waiting to be seen by someone. Even when I was seen by a loan office he was very dismissive. If you don't want to do your job just stay home and keep that cynical attitude to yourself. I definitely will not be coming back here.

Its terrible. Cant find anyone to speak to. Leave msgs with phone number so they can return you call but they never do. Website is unreliable. Always rejecting my info when I try to sign in. Finally spoke to someone today who didnt fully understand my questions although they were straightforward. Finally received the info I asked for from the person I spoke to because on their website, it wasnt readily available and the info received was incomplete Called back again to get missing info and can get no one on the phone. I NEED the info Im seeking. Never heard of a bank where you cant get ANYONE to answer your call!

Terrible bank, terrible customer service, and deceptive practices. God help you if your going through an illness like COVID and you cant make money; some guy named (which I cannot name) will call you every day until the debt is paid. Along with the phone calls Id get TONS of letters through the mail; atleast 8 letters stating the same thing; I need to pay back my debts. Run Away from the institution! Edit: I had to rewrite this review because the bank tried to take it down.

If I could give 0 stars I would I wrecked a car that got paid by gap and insurance the lady I spoke with from the bank told me not to worry about paying my payment cause the checks would clear then they call me five months later saying I owe them almost 600 dollars in late fees and said it was my fault that they told me back in October when no one told me anything at all do not get a loan through this place

this has to be hands down the worst customer service. this is the second time that I sit and wait for a call back that never happens. both times I had to go elsewhere to do business. I only have a savings account and wanted to open a checking account filled out the paperwork online and waited for a call back since thats what the website said someone will call you and it never happened. I called to get information and one branch never answered another branch was rude and couldnt answer my questions. i will be opening an account with another credit union

just last month my debit card and my pin number was compromised so I called the card service and they denied me my reimbursement so I called the bank and they said they cant reimburse me either because a card was percent at the time of the transaction. the transaction happened in PA and I live in jersey City nj and I was at work when the transaction happened

I have been a customer here for years but now that Ive moved from Jersey City and am trying to close this account and move my money to a financial institution located in my new town Ive run into a major problem with LSFCU. Their customer service is a nightmare and closing my account has been a complete disaster. They are making this process very very difficult and I have to assume they dont want to give me my money. One thing after another they tell me I have to do and then they can send me a check. Ive done everything they tell me I need to do but then there is always something else and now Im at a spot that the latest instructions from them are not possible to do on their website. The buttons they have told me to click dont exist on their site. Getting someone on the phone to speak with there is also just horrible. After so many years of doing business here Im more than disappointed with them now and would highly recommend not working with this institution.

Never had problems with the previous employees, they were so competent and responsive to the customer. Now, new employees, bank equipment not working, am not able to have access to my funds with their new operations, computers malfunction and so on. Fees generated on paper statements (duh) especially when customer has decades multiple direct deposit at their disposal which they benefit from. So on and so forth, to many gripes with this bank, they need a total renovation on their operations.

Worse Bank I ever had customer service is awful. A bank teller called on a pending issue and introduced her self Hi this is the bank very rude and unprofessional I will talk to the Managua and they don t care. I closed all my accounts with they don t have 24 hour service and you get way better rates on loans from Wells Fargo. If your looking to open an account in LSFCU in Jersey City please don t save your self the head ache worse customer service ever.

This bank has young employees and they are the worst, the young managers cover up for one another or they are pretending to be manager to discourage you from complaining, take your complaints to corporate in writing via registered mail, next step contact the better business bureau and keep Experian, Equafax and informed.

This bank deserves a less then 0 rating. I have been with this bank for many years. About 3 months ago they changed the ways you use your debit card. I never was made aware of this until I tried to make a purchase and it was denied twice. I reported this and was told my debit card couldnt be used for purchases anymore unless I had a checking account. No notice of this at all so I called for replacement cards which I never received. 2nd request was made to the teller on December 2 still no cards 3rd request I spoke to a supervisor and was assured that they have been mailed out on January 6th. Today is the 21st of January and still no card. Therefore I will be closing out my accounts and putting it in a more reliable and reputable bank. They have become the worst banking experience ever. I feel like theyre holding my money hostage.

I called just to report an issue that i observed everytime the bank do an update and this young lady just cut me off in the middle of my explanation and placed me on hold and never returned to the line. These employees for this bank have attitude problems, they talk to you anyway they to because nothing gets done about it. Its sad and embarrassing to be treated like this in all aspect. If it wasnt for the customers your company wont be in business and based on the ratings, it look like it wont be for long. Teach your staff to show more respect for the customers when they call.

If there was a choice of 0 stars, thats what i would rate this bank and everything else it comes with. Customer service is horrible! You never get through! Online banking is just as horrible!! I feel like Im banking In the 90s!! Direct deposits are HORRIBLE! I am the only person from my job who gets my direct deposit at 2pm on a friday!! Thats like getting your check mailed to you by 2pm by the mail man! I suggest you do not bank with liberty is not worth the frustration! One more thing they are a federal credit union, so they are supposed to be good to help with personal loans so you can fix your credit, BUT if you do not have a 700 plus credit score you arent getting a Damm thing!!

I like being part of a community bank and avoiding the big banks. However the customer service here has really gone downhill and Im considering switching banks. It is impossible to reach customer service. They make you give your number for a callback and then no one calls you back or they call you back and it goes to voicemail! Their new online banking is a mess. I have been locked out of online banking for a week now and have been unable to speak to anyone on the phone. Its a shame because this place used to offer great customer service.

I recently received an alert from Experian notifying me that my credit report was ran without my consent. My last loan from Liberty Savings was 2 years ago and has been paid off. I did NOT request for a loan since but somehow someone from the Jersey City branch ran my credit. I got him on the phone and he told me that he believed it was done in error, simply by someone giving him the incorrect account number and from that alone, he requested a hard inquiry of my credit report, not cross referencing the information from the account number given and the person requesting the loan. He then told he would handle having the inquiry removed from my credit report and would contact me. Didn t hear back from him so I went in to the branch to speak to him in person, he lies to me by saying that the request to remove the inquiry was done and that it would take some days. When I asked for a copy of this request, no such thing existed because it was never done. He then hands it over to his manager who was also covering up for his employee s mistake but promises me that all will be taken care of from that point on. I have been reaching out since my visit and continue to get the run around. Nobody contacts me. I had to call experian to let them know that the party was not cooperating with my request even though it was THEIR error. The only help is from experian as now they filed a fraud complaint on my behalf. For something that should have been an easy fix. Lock your credit if you have an account with them.

I had a credit card with them and I had an authorized purchase. I told them about and instead of canceling the purchase they referred me to calling the company for a refund. Meanwhile I accumulated late fees and then they reported this to the credit bureau. What type of bank is this? I gotta fight my own transactions and then I gotta pay for someone else screwing up? Once this matter is resolved I m canceling this bank account and the credit card. I don t recommend this bank to NO ONE. Please consider another credit union or a real bank.

I was discriminated and will never go there a gain. I closed my account. Your credit score and your income doesnt matter when it comes to a loan. Even if you have security for the loan or not . They will give a loan to somebody they like.

To sum it up in one word this bank is limited. Limited accessibility in terms of locations. The mobile app is limited. I couldnt even deposit my check using it. The staff is limited. Ive dealt with the same women on three separate occasions concerning my acct and she was able to resolve not one. Your bank issued card is limit too and you have to jump through hoops just to take the card off hold I havent had an eStatement or paper statement for months now. I was told that it would be taken care but yet both my virtual and real mailboxes are empty. I will give them this though they are quick to sell some sort of insurance policy. Doesnt matter what it is; Life, Home, Health, ect. Once upon a time I would have sworn by the bank but now forget about it. Im looking for a new main.

Horrible Service!!! Im closing my account today, nearly a month ago I called to replace my card. On Friday I called for an update because I never received anything to be told it was never order just so nonchalantly. After requesting to speak with management I was denied because the day was over. I called back today to see if this can be expedited, because always they make you wait about 2 weeks plus just for a card, due to them not being able to make a card on hand . I was told NO after nearly waiting for a mistake they made now I would I have to continue to be inconvenienced. I m completely drained from this bank it was the worst choice ever. This bank did absolutely nothing for me expect tell me what they can t do always. The branches are horrible always packed or simply closed. There s no proper 1800 to call in the time of emergency with your card it s literally no gains. Save yourself the headache in just go to a big bank, because small banks are hell.

Ive been Ive been trying to get a Roth IRA Transfer into a brokerage account for 18 months Liberty Savings is paying me 0.2% Interest basically losing money after you count in the rate of inflation over three 3.5%. Also I went in for a personal loan using my account for collateral they tried to charge me 15% for using my own money. Also as of 2020 they want to charge $3 a month to receive paper statements. Trying to force people to do online banking. Also online banks pay more interest to 3% Plus. Also the person when I was trying to get I just took out my own money and pay myself 5% interest. Also has several CDs at Liberty Savings cast amount paid the penalty but had a penalty cut into the principle of the money I never seen that before. Took the money out from CDs and put into stocks and see the 250% return. Actually lose money in Banks cuz you dont keep up with the rate of inflation. Its sad most people dont know that they are in The Matrix.

20+ years customer. Service used to be excellent but now they returning the checks charging $25 return fee. They are taking away overdraft privilages and not restoring after account is current This has been causing problems. Customer with direct deposit should have the privilege to overdraft if they need to.

TERRIBLE SERVICE WITH THEIR BANKING! Managers IGNORE EMAILS even from their own co workers who have tried helping my issue with them! I have been added to my husbands account over 5 years ago - I ve filled out the paperwork - they never received it in the mail I then went INTO the bank and filled out and handed paperwork back and supposedly it was set up and added me as an authorized user yet here we are 5 years later and I STILL need my husband on the phone to verify authorization for me just to make a payment on our credit card! They sent me the savings account atm card with my name on. So somewhere somehow I was added to something but hello I have been trying to get my name with the credit card authorization added as well as a new credit card being that the card expired in AUGUST and it s now the middle of NOVEMBER and still don t have a new card sent to me after numerous requests! It s absolutely ridiculous. I ve spoken to Liz at the branch. She emailed and copied me on the email she sent to her managers, requesting NUMEROUS times for a response and still yet to hear back from someone and still no help with this. It s so annoying and frustrating and I would tell EVERYONE NOT TO BANK WITH LSFCU!!!!!!!! Worst customer service. Ever! Paying off this card ASAP to never deal with them again! BBB will hear about them next!

This is the worst bank to do business with, not only are they re CSR unprofessional and lack knowledge for this to be a credit union the services are horrible. I signed up with hopes to better manage money and also build credit which I was told I couldn t do because my credit score was too low. They wanted to only offer a car loan which I don t need because I already have a car. Then I was blocked from using my debit card not able to make bill payments nor was I able to Withdraw any money, not even get gas. I was not informed why at all no email, alert, text or phone call. It Was a major inconvenience especially not knowing why you do not have access to your own money. I will no longer be using this credit union. Worst experience ever!!!!!!!

My experience theyre doing a shared branch withdrawal was terrible. Not only was the line long but all of the stuff look bored and misanthropic. even though Ive been there on numerous occasions and each time was asked for way more information than any other Credit Union, they were unable to verify my address and were very impatient about it moving me away from the teller so they could take the next customer its funny how suddenly they needed to speed up. Give me about 45 seconds to get the information online and verify my address but they could not verify it and I was unable to take out any money. I will not be coming back here again

The lines are ridiculous the only good thing is the location but the services are trash thanks for the loan but why didnt my money transfer didnt go through they ruin my 4th of july holiday n why cant i talk to someone on the phone it keeps hanging up on me

I was very unhappy with the service when transferring money from one account to another at the Journal Square location. I provided the teller with all the identification stating I was the owner of both accounts but she would not assist me with my own money being that one account was a custodial account. The acting manager that come over not only embarrassed me, but made me call my branch in front of her. Being that this was my 1 hr lunch break I had to go back to work. the next day I receive a call from that same manager the next day stating this how the branch does business explaining that she was still right, But the account belongs to me. Very unhappy customer with this location.

Didnt say it was okay. It took the second rep to go above and beyond to assist me! HE made me feel better, Even though what I needed, he couldnt help with. Called after hours on a Saturday

Ive been with this bank for some years and today was my worst conversation I had with customer service. I had recently logged into my account so I know it wasnt a problem with my password and now a days everything is already there when you log into anything. This morning was different my account locked me out and I wasnt able to make it pass the security questions on my first attempt. I called Liberty and Im telling the guy what happened and he literally cuts me off in the middle of what I was saying. I had to tell him to let me talk because your just assuming I put in the wrong password. I know its early but sir this is still your job.

At times they lock me out of my account without providing a reason for their action. Typically, it is done on a Saturday, after hours, leaving me no means of getting into contact with them. Since their automated system is non-functional due to the fact that it is the weekend.

..... unfortunately, they give me anxieties because nothing is ever done the way they say it will happen. It took 3 weeks for me to receive a replacement debit card as well. oh Im sorry, I still havent received it. I hoping that it will arrive this week. I was told 5-10 business days and yet no one answers the phone to get answers. To be fair, Chance Cerbone was responsive for some of my concerns; very kind too.... I hope that it gets better at LSCU and for those with pleasant experiences... Im happy for you.

the CU needs improvement...it took almost 1 month to get a new debit card after I reported it compromised. The lines are extremely long every day, banking hours are not convient for the working public. CU lacks online features, call center customer service (NONE). Because the branch is so busy all the time, there so much pressure on the front desk person as they are the first line of contact, but they have no support, staff to back up when the lines are long.

Theyre awesome! I had poor credit score and they helped me built up my score. They always take their time to insure you leave satisfied with their services. They are also considerate of your needs and concerns. I never had a bad experience, I believe their customer service and managers are way better than any other banks I experienced.

Coming from a big bank to a CU is a huge step, but one that is well worth it- many of the children complain about credit unions, when in fact it really goes with maturity about finances. The website and online banking are super plain and basic, no mobile app - but online bank opens fine. You get access to a network of CO-OP banks and free atms especially at 711/Walgreens/CVS with 0 fees! They helped me rebuild my credit and in less then 1 year, I now qualify for line of credit (store card/financing) with the same very big bank that denied me last year after using them for 10years! liberty savings is the real deal, i visit the union city office - Maria, Karen, and Carlos are the best, sure the wait can be long but the benefits outweigh the wait. A real community bank for the people!

They act like you are doing them a favor. They are not personable and when you or email they never never answer the phone nand dont reply to email or phone messages. The number of members doesnt matter because their service is inadequate on top of RUDE managers and customer service reps. The branch manager walked right by me and she knew I had a question for her and left for the day!!!!!!!!!

Six Weeks ago my wallet was stolen and I became a victim of identity theft. I immediately reported fraudulent activity on My checking account to Liberty Savings Credit Union. Not only was the money that was stolen from my account never reimburse, but the person in charge of this problem has ignored all my e mails, phone calls and messages regarding this very unfortunate matter. (person in charge of the problem, a LADY BY THE NAME OF BETH CHISOLM). Banking Institutions such as, PNC BANK, BARCLAYS BANK, CHASE BANK AND CAPITAL ONE, not only took care of all the fraudulent charges made on my accounts, but they had a new Credit or Debit Card in my mailbox within 48 hrs. If youre looking for a Banking Institution thats responsible and has good customer service, please do yourself a favor and stay miles away from this bank. Sincerely, Truly Yours, Carlos A Soler

I thought this was a good bank i at least got a loan from them and i have bad credit but its not a good bank you can count on. Let me start by saying in a period of two months the bank system was down three times , you cant take money out. They only let you withdraw 200 dollars and it seems like the system in this bank is down often. What an inconvenience I had emergencies and i couldnt even take the money out the bank that i needed. They took three weeks to send me a debit card through the mail! Plus today 02-13-14 was a snow storm but the town roads are decent i go to the bank and its closed wtf are you serious they have a dun kin donuts a freaking dry cleaner and a restaurant and they are all open but nop this crapy ass bank is closed. TD bank is open chase was open even a bank i never heard of named crown was open. The least this bank could have done was open from 10-12pm mid day im going back to chase
