Zeal credit union is one of the best banks I’ve ever heard of and one of the 1st banks that I choose and continue to choose as my primary. I am grateful for the experience with this credit union and don’t expect any more from Bryant because he is who I recommend to all folks of the community. He really deserves best/better pay for the service she provide within community and within the industry of banking systems. He needs his credit part taken in the industry of accountancy. Thank you for all you do zeal and thank you to all the hard working people provided from govern services. Love the printing color by the way it’s the best decision in a while.

This Credit Union is TERRIBLE I wish I could rate it a -O because rating a 1 is privileged. Over the past month I have been coming here because this location is near my job and I don’t care what time it is or what day of the week the ATM is NEVER in service and I mean NEVER. This is such an inconvenience when it’s after they have closed and you can’t go into the lobby. This past week I went 3x and to my surprise it was not working. Im over it. I won’t waste my time no more Coming to this one. Then in a pinch and hurry I’m forced to use an out of network ATM and get charged $4.50 on top of the other teller’s ATM fee at the end of the month. Well if your ATM worked I wouldn’t have to use another one. Im losing time and money. Smh.

I have been with this credit union for some years now. I've even met the board and received an award at a certificate dinner and I've had so many problems with depositing my money into the ATM. I go to the one on six Mile and middlebelt and also the one on 6 Mile and Newburgh and I've never been able to put money in when I need to and then I get charged a fee. That is very disheartening for me. It makes me want to find another credit union so I'll have to go through these problems. The ATM works best for me because of when I get paid. I'm never have the opportunity to make it to you guys on time. I've been a loyal customer as well as my family members. Please make some type of adjustment to fix this issue

It’s a good bank and have been with them for years but my god it makes me want to leave them just so that I can actually talk to someone on the phone at the actual bank. How do individual banks In different cities not have an actual phone number as well as a 1800 number. No matter what you wait on hold for over an hour or wait for them to call you back which takes over an hour no matter what. It’s so frustrating and love to see I’m not the only one in these reviews.

If I could give it a zero star I would. This is the worst credit union in Michigan. I have been working on getting a home equity loan from them since March. Had to send in two applications and they finally denied me in august for excessive obligation in relation to income (I have 1 full time job, apparently that was too much for them to handle) and length of time account have been established (over the last 5 months I’ve been emailing them every two weeks asking what is my application status. Don’t even try calling the loan department. I tried for weeks on end and they just ask for you to leave a message which they will never respond to due to the whole office being on ‘vacation’. How do they expect for the CU to run of literally everyone is on vacation at the same time… for 5 freaking months!?!?! If you want a trust worthy RELIABLE CU go to anyone but this one. I’m saving you a half of year of your life with this one. And for anyone who is in the same shoes as me I am so sorry, don’t continue to bother these people even if you think the interest rate is a slamming deal. It’s not worth your time, you deserve better than this.

My mom's a member. We typically go to the location on middlebelt. She's had 10 new debit cards because their system constantly flags her account after EVERY attempt to use it and they don't know why. The only solution is to offer a new card!! It's frustrating. Closing account soon.

I only gave them a star cause I had to. Never get a car loan from them cause they will start adding unnecessary fees without your knowledge and try to keep you in the loan forever. They don t never answer the phone and the representatives do not help at all and most of them have bad attitudes.

When I went to login on April 23rd, I was kicked off for using the same login & password after 2 tries. Thankfully my debit card still works. I m beginning to think I should remove all my money & go to a different credit union. Today I was told my wait time is 38 minutes to even talk to someone. Since the merger, service is worse.

If you want to bank with a company that will literally ghost you when your in a tight spot then sure bank with them. I started a account based on the fact they said they d give me a mortgage once my credit was a certain number. This changed to a slew of reasons why they couldn t once I finally fixed my credit. Fast forward to now after COVID destroyed me financially this business was unhelpful, unsympathetic and instead piling on ever fee that they could often twice a month.

Saying horrible customer service would be an understatement. As a member of Zeal Credit union the way that I was treated was unacceptable. From the tone of voice and the dismissal of my concerns not only by a member representative by the name of Kathy no last name and then by a manager by the name of Bethany. I spoke with Bethany shown she said thanks for the feedback. I work in the same industry and our clients get surveys after every call and they are taking very seriously. If I spoke to a client in that manner there would be consequences. Without clients seal credit union wouldnt be open, treat your members as such. This is my second issue with customer service, I was going to take out a home loan, but thats not going to happen. I will establish another relationship with another credit union and refi my car loan and close my accounts once rates go down. A business is as strong as its customer service. I will not be treated any way and continue to do business with you. This is a company that will never receive a JD Power award thats for sure.

Off to a rough start. A car dealership set me up with this bank. I received a packet in the mail. No payment coupon book. Unable to set up payment on the website. Unanswered phone calls.Keep getting sent to the que for a call back. NO CALL. Emailed for assistance. NO RESPONSE. At this point Ill just sit back and wait and not send the payment. Its all documented.

Lauren at the Livonia branch is AMAZING ! I came in 10 minutes before close due to my work hours and I had a slightly complex issue. Lauren not only took her time but went above and beyond to help me get everything handled. She made me proud to be a Zeal customer. Ive never experienced such great service at any bank / credit union. I am now happy to put my money with Zeal I was honestly having doubts about continuing my relationship with them due to their hours but this interaction made me a lifetime customer. Lauren deserves a raise or promotion. She definitely made my day and experience womderful

They have the WORST customer service. EVERY time I have to call, its an hour or two (sometimes 3 hour) wait while their recording keeps saying Your call is important to us, HAHA. Its been this way since WAY before covid, so they cannot use that as an excuse. Ive been trying to reach them because somebody spoofed their number and has been leaving robo calls claiming to be Zeal. I guess theyll never know because I cannot reach them to tell them, or ask if its really Zeal trying to reach me. Id have to call into work, and wait on hold for hours every day to reach them. Its been this way for years. It frustrates me so much, Im considering going elsewhere to another credit union.

They have plenty of people sitting doing nothing with no customers. Not on the desk where transactions are done the desks where they open accounts, they need to answer phones and earn their money. You know I ve been so entirely disappointed in the lack of flexibility found with this Credit Union. I ve been a member since I graduated high school five years ago. My mother has an account, we have credit cards and got loans exclusively through this account. When we first inquired it was implied that you only needed an constant income and a certain credit score to get a home mortgage loan/equity loan. After years of paying off every loan and recommending dozens of people to their bank I m still being rejected for not having a large enough income. What s frustrating is that they won t work with you when it comes to amounts over 5000. Personal loan for $1000? We need a detailed explanation of where the money is going and why you need it now but sure! Need $6000 because your electrical has not been updated since the 30s? Tough luck. I think I m just done, I m applying for med school in a few months and will need a new house regardless, I guess now I m just going to be moving my mom in with me since I can t fix up her home. But when I do I ll just find a bank that s open to legitimately helping out those that live paycheck to paycheck, even if you can t give me what I ask for you could have always counter offered something smaller.

Zeal is poorly named. Nobody at this place has any zeal or any desire to be an honorable institution. I have had my account with them for almost twenty years since they were Co-op. As Co-op they were fantastic. As Zeal they are terrible. Clearly it wasn t just a name change, but ethos in which they act not like a credit union, but rather a shady bank. Twice I have had my debit card expire without a new one ever being sent out. This morning was the final straw. I sat on hold for 23 minutes before I spoke with somebody to get my now expired card replaced and was told that they didn t even have a card on file for me because of a data breech that I was never informed about at which point they canceled my card and never sent me a new one. I was never notified of any of this. I am sure glad I didn t have to face the embarrassment of being declined in a store due to their horrible treatment of clients. As of this afternoon I will be closing my account with Zeal and taking my money elsewhere. They don t care about their customers. They don t care about doing what is right. They care about making as much money as possibly by doing as little as they possibly can. I know the new credit union will welcome my money tand the loan interest they make off of me and will at least pretend to smile which is more than Zeal has ever offered with their terrible hours, terrible service, and terrible overall company. Do NOT give me the canned response of wanting to reach out . That should have happened before you canceled my card and didn t let me know. Zeal .What a joke of a name.

I too, had an bad experience with the white male teller with the glasses,I notice two woman were at the counter glass speaking with the tellers it was okay then .But when I got to the counter the gentleman was rude to me telling me in rude voice step back from the glass.I was the same distance as the two females so I told him becareful how to you talk to people.And I dont need you to help me.He cant never help me again in the middle belt branch.He cant never ever help me again.

Been a member since the 80s when my mother opener an account for me as a kid and used to love them. However, their wait times for a call, text reply or interaction have just gotten beyond acceptable (not just pandemic) and they make it difficult to get increase to withdraw from atm in situations where we cant get to a co op. Also because it is a pandemic and we are supposed to be limiting human contact, it only makes sense to make it easier for temporary increase to safe withdraws

Katy or katlyn yelled at me for accidentally stepping past a mark on the floor i wasnt aware of being my first time there. She knew she was wrong for it so she turned her back to me and took her name tag off. Normally i wouldnt post a review but since she thought she was slick, i am. The teller who did help me was polite and professional. Id recommend driving further to another branch though.

When this was Co-Op Credit Union the service was spectacular. Just this week Zeal, apparently had a security breach. They shut down all ATM transactions with out notifications to their customers. I receive a text with every transaction and I get email updates. Nothing was sent regarding the breach. Prior to me making a special trip to the Credit Union, I got the, pass around the customer around treatment on the phone and then I was flat out disconnected after 20 minutes of being on hold. I listened to their recording about How Important their customers are recording, roughly 15 times. Not only is my money being held hostage this weekend, with no notice of the breach but now Im waiting for a new card and then a new PIN. I dont have a 9-5 job that allows me to play Catch Zeal Open games. The same thing happened to my niece, the same day. She didnt receive notice either. Very disappointed. Well here it is 6 days since I went to the credit union and I still havent received my debit card .

When many BANKS provide better service, you know theres a problem. To be fair, I rarely use my Zeal account anymore. Its mainly a means for me to deposit checks and transfer them to my Aspiration (Radius Bank) accounts. Furthermore, Ive not really interacted with them in quite a long time, but I was writing a review of my new bank and thought I would be fair and write one about Zeal, just to put things in perspective since Ive had 3 years to sleep on it. About a year ago or so, I applied for an auto refinance loan. After about a week, the loan department said my vehicle was too old, but that they would finance a new car. I received a loan approval amount and worked feverishly over the next month to find my next vehicle (not a choice I take lightly). The credit union was well aware that I was a 1099-based earner. After keeping in near constant touch with Zeal, I finally found the vehicle I wanted a month later. I had already negotiated a deal, put a deposit down, and all I had to do was go into the branch to sign the papers. I got there, gave them the documentation they requested, and 15 minutes later they came out and denied my application. You see, when youre a 1099, its wise to take proper deductions for your income, within the rules of the IRS. However, those deductions (such as mileage, a huge one for me) are taken out of your income by Zeal. So while I made a comfortable salary (I take home about 10x the monthly car payment and have zero debt), because the IRS allows for about 55c per mile deduction (and I drive 30,000 miles a year), they thought I was only making $20,000 a year (despite them being able to see my deposits, what I brought home, and what I spent). And thats completely absurd. Ive worked for a credit union in the past and originated loans as part of my duties as a branch manager and they accepted the amount of income reported on your 1099 -- which is the most accurate and widely-recognized income determination in such cases. Despite them being full aware of my situation and circumstances, they pulled the rug out from under me at the very last minute. I lost the deposit I had placed on the vehicle. The credit union refused to even discuss their methodology or reasonings. So while Ive never been late on my car payment once, and while I make more than sufficient income, they will lead you on, make you go through hoops, and then pull the rug out from you. I would not trust them with any type of loan and certainly not with any large ones like autos or mortgages. I subsequently got a loan -- with better terms, from another local financial institution. In addition, I opened a new account with a new online organization, Aspiration/Radius Bank about 8 months ago. I deposit my check and its immediately transferred to those accounts. I still have a credit card and saving/checking accounts with Zeal, but there is no activity on them (other than transferring money). And I am quite satisfied today with what I have. In addition to the loan fiasco, -They do not have instant issue debit cards. If something happens to your card, youll be waiting a very long time. Their technology is ancient. -There seem to be very frequent security breaches which result in new cards being sent. If you dont happen to receive your new PIN (which they also reset), you CANNOT change it. You need to wait for them to send you a new one. -Their hold times are unacceptable. -Their management is unreachable. -Their hours and locations leave a lot to be desired. -They operate much more like a bank and arent worthy of the credit union name as they do not follow the philosophy, which respects that we are all mutual owners/members of it. -Overall, there are FAR BETTER institutions out there (and real, legitimate philosophy-following credit unions) that deserve your business. If theres one thing I can guarantee, its that--sooner or later--youll be disappointed here. Their motto hard working Americans bank on us may be true about the bank thing, but they have no consideration for how hard you work.

Totally incompetent tellers. It seems like there is always a new teller in drive thru who doesnt know anything. This must be a training facility. They must not put notes in customers files or they are too dumb to read them. I have been cashing an out of state check from a trust account/attorney for 5 yrs. Everything is OK for a couple of months, then a new teller and they refuse to cash it and insist on putting a hold on it. I have complained to the manager and received a form letter response. The teller always says they are not familiar with the check and they have to protect themselves if its not good. Of course they arent familiar with it because they are new. Its not a personal check but they dont have a clue. It clearly states the attorneys name and its written on a trust. When I opened this account I was assured there would be no hidden fees. Now, all of a sudden, if I dont have $199.99 in my checking acct, I have to either put $5 in or they will charge ME $1 to cash a check when I have an account. So MY credit union is charging ME to cash a check. Very poor business. Today was the last straw with their ignorance. Im closing my account and going else ware. Ive had an online bank account for 3 yrs and have never had a problem. Zeal is a problem every time I go there. It would be worth it to pay a check cashing company to cash my checks. Too bad the 0 star option isnt available.

I have been with this Credit Union for over 20 years and have always appreciated the service and care they have provided my family and me. Strong recommendation to anyone looking for banking needs.

Update- Zeal must check theyre reviews. Problem was immediately solved! Friendly staff. Anytime I need to do something they help me through it with ease. I just wish the always had 2 people in the drive thru, especially when the only person working the drive thru is brand new. -sincerely, Sat in line for 20 minutes and I sent my tube 17 minutes ago so Ive been here 37 minutes.... And my baby has been crying the entire time.

These people provide good service, they even went out of their way to help me get a loan. They are real professionals, that go out of their way to provide good customer service! And for that I would like to say thank you!!!!

Very bad tech support! It should be 24-7! Each time I delete cookies, also known as malware, I cannot access my account! I follow the instructions, receive the code number, return to the web site and learn that the number is not valid! This seems to happen on a regular basis. I am considering closing my accounts with this over Zealous bank!

Very happy with the service at Zeal Credit Union and glad that its my primary financial institution. Ive been looking to make the switch from the bank to a credit union and glad I found Zeal.

I had a home mortgage through Zeal Credit Union and Connie was a constant though the credit union changed names a couple of times. Though we never met in person, she knew my situation, always called if there was ever a question, knew my goals to pay off my loan early, and was always prompt in servicing my loan needs. Im not one to give false praise and I not only recommend Zeal to others, I plan on coming back when I need my next loan!

Only had an auto loan and it was a problem from the beginning. They stated I didnt pay the first payment even after showing them a receipt! Had constant problems throughout. After the loan as paid they never sent a release of title. I live over an hour away and requested it to be mailed. They said they would mail it but never did. Terrible customer service.

Worst ever! Claim a name change but I feel like it is a merger. Every family member has had a problem. We will change to another credit union as a result of the confusion and lack of customer service abilities of this credit union.

They Knew about a problem I was having with PayPal and helped at first, they understood the problem! But as I was working with Paypal to fix the problem, I was hit again on my account in the Amount of $233.00+ in Insufficient fund fees. The Refuse to return my monies, I am unable to Get my medications for my MS and Diabetes due to this... they are heartless.....

I am very pleased with Co-op. My local bank turned me down for a secured $500 loan that i applied for to re-establish credit and Co-op did the loan UNsecured, plus they financed my car loan at less than 4% and The dealer had me near 9%. I wish they would open a location closer to me is the only downfall i see.

After spending over 2 months trying to work with CSCU mortgage department I have given up and taken my business elsewhere. Shame on the lack of follow up and poor customer service this staff provides to a long standing member with several accounts through them. If you need any type of loan dont waste your time with this company
