I recently changed banks to First Merchants! I've never had a bank go above and beyond like they do! Especially the branch on Williams Road in downtown Ann Arbor!! They take the time to sit down with you and work so hard on whatever you may need! Most importantly, they're always there to listen if you may be just having a tough day! Whatever it is, their genuine care is something I've never experienced at any other bank! I have such deep gratitude for Haylee, Christine, and Janice! My girlfriend and I were recently in the market to buy our first home. We decided upon Jason Robinson and Ann Arbor State Bank after comparing online reviews, along with recommendations from coworkers and our realtor. There was a definitive consensus that Jason and A2SB were great to work with, and we can only add to that testimony. Jason was friendly and professional throughout our lengthy home-buying experience, and he was always quick to communicate changes and future steps in the process. He worked incredibly hard to facilitate an early close, and even went out of his way to turn in our property transfer affidavit in person. Five stars all the way to Ann Arbor State Bank and mortgage officer Sean Breeden! I called Ann Arbor State Bank recently when I was shopping for a new mortgage. My realtor, Julia Brenner of ReMax, recommended that I go with a local bank rather than one of the big national names since most sellers consider it to be a much stronger pre-approval and would therefore strengthen any potential than we would make on a house (a very good thing in this tight A2 market). Wow! I was blown away by my experience. Sean Breeden was amazing every step of the way. He responded quickly, and patiently and graciously answered all of my many questions (at one point I think we had 22 emails going back and forth) and gave me such clear, direct information. I shopped other local banks as well, but no one came close to Seans professionalism and expertise. He got me a fantastic interest rate and worked hard to help us close early. What is usually a very stressful process was, in this case, a wonderful experience. Thank you, Sean, and AASB!!

Ann Arbor State Bank - more specifically Sean Breeden, responded to my emails and phone calls in what was nothing short of amazing in terms of the amount of time it took to receive an answer or call-back. This level of expediency was critical when it came down to the wire to close quickly. We ran into a land boundary issue that took weeks to resolve, but because Sean was so good at what he does - clear, concise, and responsive - we still managed to close before we lost the lock on our interest rate. Ive purchased several homes and refinanced on numerous occasions and never experienced anything like this service. Also, and most importantly, all the various fees to purchase our home were either the same as or less than the major bank Ive been working with for 20 years. Finally, I never do reviews, but this level of service had to get one!

Sean has helped our family out with 3 mortgages and 1 refinance in the last 4 to 5 years and his service and follow up has been top notch!! His attention to detail was outstanding, and Sean was able to keep me calm when additional information was needed, that sometimes seems very redundant! Had to switch to a local bank bc my national bank wasnt located in the Ann Arbor area. Couldnt be happier with the service so far! We got in touch with him on the recommendation of a friend after we had begun the loan process with another broker who disappointed us again and again with sloppy work, a high interest rate, and lack of consistency. I was first referred to Jason Robinson at Ann Arbor State Bank by my real estate agent. He told me to use Jason as my loan officer to purchase my condo. I am glad I did! I just used Jason again to refinance my condo. Each time Jason made the whole mortgage process extremely easy. Everything was smooth and closing was fast. Jason at AA State was absolutely incredible. The Ann Arbor market is a hard one in which you need to move quickly. Jason replied to all of my inquiries within hours and had letters and estimates for me on hand whenever I needed them (even on weekends!) He helped me close on my house in less than thirty days (I was on a time crunch) and also kept a watchful eye on rates, getting me the lowest possible one when it was available for just a single day during the closing process (3.65%). He went out of his way to file some papers with the city for me so that I could be registered as a homestead by January and he spent hours explaining the complications of mortgages to me. He is kind, patient, knows his stuff and super fast at anything you need done. Jason Robinson was wonderful at every step of the mortgage process, from the initial discussion about price ranges, up to closing, and all the way through my questions as issues came up in the first few months of homeownership. Since I was a first-time homebuyer, I had lots of questions, and Jason was able to answer them clearly but thoroughly. I worked with Jason Robinson. I chose him (and Ann Arbor State Bank) because even in searching for a good deal I felt like other banks and other individuals were trying to trick me. Not discussing hidden fees and leaving me to find out about them myself. Telling me something was $3000 less when $3000 had appeared elsewhere in the loan package. It was terrifying. Jason seemed trustworthy so I went with him. I did not regret this. He was caring, considerate, informative, kind, well spoken and thoughtful. I have no hesitation is unreservedly recommending him. Having spoken to 3 different lenders, all of them said I would have to apply for a FHA loan. When I contacted Jason at AASB and asked him about his FHA rates, he was curious why I was looking at FHA. When I explained my situation, he did some research and was able to get us in a conventional loan that would be more beneficial to us in the long run. During the whole process, Jason worked thoroughly to make sure all our is were dotted and ts were crossed and made the process as smooth as he possibly could. After a very bad experience with another mortgage broker, we found Jason Robinson at Ann Arbor State Bank and we couldnt have been happier. He was there every step of the way through a short sale that didnt work out (because of issues on the sellers side) and then through closing on the house we ended up buying. Jason was knowledgeable and helpful with our VA loan (a good benefit, but like so many other things with the VA, they sure dont make it easy). He also came through at the last-minute when our out-of-state cashiers check wasnt accepted for our closing costs; Jason came up with a solution that allowed us to close on time. If we buy another house in the area we will absolutely choose to work with Jason again!

Working with Ann Arbor State Bank (and Jason Robinson in particular in our case) was an excellent experience and we would recommend them to any of our friends or family. If it were not for Jason Robinson and Ann Arbor State Bank we would not have closed on our Ann Arbor home. We had difficulty getting the proceeds from our Pennsylvania home to Michigan in time for close. The closings were 2 days apart and were based on school starting the next week. Jason stuck his neck out for us and made our closing in Michigan happen. Even before crisis mode Jason was responsive, courteous and of course more than helpful. Today there is a lot to be said for any business that answers their email and phone calls but it is something else altogether to have excellent customer service. Moving is so stressful but it was absolutely wonderful to have Jason and Ann Arbor Bank helping us out and actually caring about my family and I and our new home.

Wow, this bank was AWFUL. They strung us along for two months, demanding we contract out repairs, replace carpeting, drop hundreds on specialized inspections on the property we were trying to buy, and only after wed wasted two months and near a thousand dollars did they deny us the loan outright. I STRONGLY advise finding another bank.

Excellent service! They have an old-school philosophy of being a personal bank that knows the name of their customers. Its not just an aspiration, they actually live it. I walked into the branch, and was greeted with a smile by my first name. Thats hard to come by these days. What can I say that others havent? If you need a mortgage, Jason Robinson is the man to call. If you have a mortgage you should still call him - he saved us nearly 1.5% on a refi that went so smoothly I have forgotten most of the details already. Ann Arbor State Bank likes to use local people for the appraisals, inspections and title, so the results you get will actually be relevant, fair, and honest (imagine that.) These guys are great - put them at the top of your list.

Our banker Jason Robinson provided very professional and friendly service, ensuring that everything was put in place in a timely way to secure the rate we were looking for -- even processing some important documents after hours to meet deadlines. I have worked with Jason Robinson on my last two mortgages so when it was time to refinance I contacted him in his new position at Ann Arbor State Bank. Jason was able to quickly provide the information, documents, and interest rate lock I needed to complete my refinancing. He provided updates on the process; let me know what exactly I needed to supply and the time frame in which he needed the information. We were able to handle everything over the phone and by email. I hear of so many horror stories about buying or refinancing a house; that is not the case with Jason. I have never had anything but professional, efficient, and accurate guidance from Jason. We knew Jason Robinson from a previous home refinance. When rates dropped further we decided to refinance our home once again and contacted Jason who is now working at Ann Arbor State Bank.
