About the Company

We rose from the docks of Avondale Shipyards Inc., as ASI Federal Credit Union in 1961. From 1961 to 2019 ASI grew to extend its membership to almost 64,000 members and has extended financial services across Southeast Louisiana and beyond. In 2019, ASI (Avondale Shipyard, Inc) Federal Credit Union, re-designed its brand and changed its name to OnPath Federal Credit Union. Using the feedback of members and the community in general, the new brand design was created to include a new name that captures our past and represents our vision for the future.

We are very proud of our legacy with Avondale Shipyards, Inc. and are grateful to live the credit union philosophy of "people helping people!"

My mom and dad has been banking with this credit union for over 30 years. My dad passed away 3yrs ago and yet with the proper paperwork my mom is still fighting to receive his money, this credit union has been keeping it hostage like it s their money. They received the paperwork and said they will let their attorneys review it and have yet to release the funds. So do yourself a favor and join another credit union that is there to help their customers.

Ive been with this credit union for over 30 years and now the ONLY reason that Im going to keep one of my accounts open is for a car loan. Ive decided to switch banks ,because they removed money from my account over ($10,000) without notifying me. Not to mention they charged me $10 for THEIR mistake. Ive tried to get answers from several people , and no one could give me a straight answer. It was also a cashiers check from THEIR establishment.So if their is any type of succession involved with this credit union, I would highly advise you to get a lawyer involved. Im happy that I have multiple accounts with other banks otherwise I would have to worry about other issues like calling before I leave to another state in order for my debit cards to work.

23 years with ASI/Onpath and I m so happy to be closing my accounts. Have dealt with many of people that were rude to no end. There have been nice people along to. But at this point I have reached my end with this credit union. Paperwork isn t able to be given to prove the truth. Cost me money. Onpath System down at night constantly, (cost me money). Website slow/down, in (maintenance mode) cost me money. Don t go Out of State and forget to call the bank to tell them. SMH. Direct Deposit from your job can hit anywhere from 8am to past 12pm depending on if someone is there to release the money. I can go on and on. Over the years I made the mistake of constantly accepting that this credit union is not what you think a credit union is supposed to be and yet given them chance after chance. The truth of the matter is that once you have an account long enough it s hard to move everything over because of time and the amount of connections that are built to all that is paid for. Best bet, open another account with a different bank and start slowly. You will eventually move everything over from Onpath. This FCU does not represent anyone anymore. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

Now I see why their reviews are so dismal. I started to open a checking account with Onpath Credit Union because they had checking account with a 7% apy on $10,000 or less. The online part was easy and painless but ID verification got really weird. After giving them my usual information and linking another credit union account to Onpath I was told it would be a 48-hour process to complete the request. Within a couple of hours I received a text message asking for more identification. I sent them a picture of my drivers license. Then they came back and asked for a picture of an electric bill, water bill, mortgage paperwork, some information to verify or compare my address with my drivers license address. I thought that was strange but I sent them a picture of my electric bill. For me the final straw was when they asked me to take a selfie holding my drivers license and my social security card. I asked them if they wanted me to hold up todays newspaper to verify the date in the selfie. Needless to say they said they were serious about the selfie holding my drivers license and Social Security card. Ive opened many online accounts with Citibank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, EverBank, and no one ever asked such nonsense of me. Maybe theyre just used to having clients with booking photos. I contacted customer service and thats when I realized this is a real DEI organization. I cannot imagine what it would be like if I had a real banking problem and I tried to get this organization to help.

The worst banking experience of my life. First my account was compromised twice in two weeks. A hundred and twenty dollars was stolen from my account. That was over a month ago and they still have not returned my money. Secondly I made a mistake twice at the gas pump and over drafted one dollar each time. They charged me 32$ for each over draft. So I ended up paying $64 bucks for $2 dollars. I felt like they were taking full advantage of me. So I cant close my account until a decision is made about the money stolen from me. I will be closing it as soon as possible!

Half star really!!! Please do not join this credit union. It is the worst. I was told I was 30 days delinquent. I logged in and found out I was 10 days past but they decrease my credit as a result. If you can join Navy Federal, please do so. There is also PenFed, Keesler and Unify. Do a thorough search for credit unions because OnPath is NOT the one.

Id give no stars if that were possible. They are extremely difficult. They refuse to apply payments to your loan if its not to the penny, even if one of the payments isnt even due yet, and will make belittling and disrespectful comments if you show any kind of frustration at the ridiculous, made up rules they decide to enforce. This is my second and last loan with this bank. I cannot and will not tolerate such unprofessionalism and disrespect. Good luck trying to access online banking. If it isnt already down, like a McDonalds ice cream machine, they will purposely lock you out of it, to further ensure difficulty trying to make payments.

The Harahan location rocks! Fast, friendly, service and everyone knows me by first name. They are easy to bank with and they always have my best interest in mind. The statement above is true but the experience at the Slidell location is horrible no human interaction all transactions are automated whats the purpose of having people in the lobby and they cant assist you and you have to wait in a line all the way to the entrance door... really thinking hard about transferring to another bank some changes being made just dont make sense

Onpath online is horrible. I was contacted by the fraud department about fraudulent behavior. They were good about that part but when I told them that it wasn t me that made the charge online they still let it go through. Then I get transferred from department to department to try to dispute it and get my money back. Not to mention I have to wait 10 days to get my debit card that Hass to be resent to me because my other one had to be shredded. Why is the victim responsible for doing so much work? If you knew it was fraud, why would you let the transaction go through? Why am I inconvenienced? You guys suck. I m thinking about switching banks.

Jarrod Freeman look hereOnpath made me miss a full day of overtime pay by freezing my card for a 5$ uber tip. The 24/7 card fraud didnt answer the entire weekend. I couldnt use my uber to get to work.because of them Took till Monday to reach a human . I want to be reimbursed loss of wages.

I was contacted by WalMart to let me know that fraud had occurred on my account, they went by my address and realized someone made a purchase on my debit card and had it delivered to another state. We did a conference call with OnPath and I have been getting the run around since day one. I asked them if I could go in a branch to get another card and was told no because one was already mailed to me. I was upset because they did not even ask me if I wanted it mailed or if I wanted to go into a branch. I have been asking them frequently when my money would be credited into my account and the telephone reps just give me the basic reply that it takes 10 business days for an investigation before they decide. Im like, this was not a credit card but my hard earned money!! The retailer told you it was not my purchase but you tell me that I have to wait.. I have been a member over 5+ years and after this experience, Im thinking of just walking away...!!

I hate to do this but had a check at their atm get sucked into their machine. 15 business days do not have the funds. 10 business days on certain checks. Even cashiers checks. Atms of theirs often not working Account freeze for no reason. Unfortunately many issues with this credit union. Great people and helpful when you deal with then directly but a nightmare with online stuff.

All I can tell folks is to join this credit union very cautiously and enter at your own risk or beware that s what I wished someone would have told me, however in the event that you fall short in life, and we are all living in hard times right now and you end up having to file for bankruptcy I can I promise you that these people will deplete whatever monies you have in your savings and checking accounts. They take your money don t even notify you then close your accounts! Only leaving open the DELINQUENT ACCOUNT that s what they did to me. I am not going on here say I am going on what I endured by them. It was wrong and it was done sneakily without my knowledge until I happened to go in there to get free money orders ( a perk of having a checking account) and teller asked me did I have a checking acct. I was floored when she told me both my checking and savings accounts were closed and zeroed out! I enjoyed meeting the people that work there. They were absolutely wonderful, but I can tell you the goings-on in the processes of this financial establishment is totally not in the favor of customers who are met with financial crises me as a homeowner having lost my primary insurance, having to go to Louisiana citizens the insurance of last resort, my homeowners ins. inflated triple which caused my mortgage to increase, on top of that having to have unexpected burial expenses all of this caused the only financial recourse I had which was to file a bankruptcy. It was a chapter 13 so these people are being compensated in someway, for what is owed to them, but why take every little penny that I had in my accounts on top of it and then doing it on the back end after you were served notification of a bankruptcy by my attorney. I want nothing to do with them ever again in life! ***I WISH THERE WAS A RATING LESS THAN ONE STAR

Made a purchase using Paypal linked to my Onpath account...somehow $600 more than what I approved was removed from my account, and forever lost...Paypal had no record...Onpath was inept at providing customer service to resolve. Their phone-based customer service is truncated, leading to a number of dead-ends. Attempted to fix a debit card being declined..told by fraud dept. there are no holds and they could not transfer to member services. Called member services and was told I need to call yet another service dept....and the run-around continued. Ended up going into a branch and getting a new card. It is frustrating that to prioritize cooperative banking, the services struggle to keep up with user needs, pushing one to again consider the chases and banks of america.

The African American Young Man Who Works In The Loan Department Was Very Discouraging. He Mentioned My Account Being In The Negative As If I Didnt Deserve My Overdraft Privileges And Wasnt Using Them Responsibly. Im New To the Banking Experience And I Am Overly Consistent With Learning Everything That It Is To Learn To gain Financial Independence. He Was Very impatient And Aggressive With me After I Explained To Him That I Dont Think he Was Giving Me The Most Positive Progress For My Account Being I Just Started And Was Very Ignorant To The Process. Reported false information to the credit bureau and dropped my credit score over 100 points. When asked to fix it I was repeatedly told they wouldn t because that wouldn t be true and accurate. Then after I showed evidence of THEIR MISTAKE and it was verified in their system the lady called to let me know they would have it adjusted because it s just a simple online reporting system. Went from two missed payments to 1 late payment because their system was wrong. Do not use this company if you have any alternative.

Getting in contact with him was so easy and convenient. I could call, text, or email him, and he replied in a very efficient time matter. My wife took out a car loan in 2017. In August of 2021 the car loan was paid off, but they are saying she still needs to keep full coverage on a car loan that has been paid off for a yearnow. Yes we missed some insurance payments on the car. So now they are taking forced insurance payments out for the past year make it make sense. Everytime we ask questions about this no one can help us with an answer. So basically we have to keep paying a car loan th at was paid off. Make it make sense please. If I could leave zero stars I would. Customer service needs to be retrained very nasty people.

EVERYTIME I come in there she has an attitude or problem with something. What s the point of working if you get mad when you have to do something apart of your job. I ve been banking here over a decade. Never missed a loan payment, never bounced a check. I had a fraudulent charge I disputed, and they rejected it. The reason in the letter wasn t at all what happened, and when I went in to question it, after 2 hours of holding and misdirected calls, the reason they gave the 2nd time, didn t even make sense. I m having to jump through hoops for $134.

For the past week I ve been hung up on so many times I cannot number. I have requested callbacks at least four times within the past week and have not received one call back as of yet. I have deposited money into my account and I have at least four different accounts with on path my ability to access my account is prohibited because of issues with the website. When I call I press the prompted cues to be assisted and each time I do this the phone immediatelyHangs up over and over repeatedly. I do not appreciate on path federal credit union. I have been a member for a long time. I have A1 credit. There is no reason why I have to go through such lengths just to get some service from a organization that has my money. ASI was great on path not great. I am going to take my money out of his bank I am going to recommend that all my family and friends who are associate or affiliated with this bank remove their money and take it elsewhere. My bank account does not reflect payments that I have made people hang up on me when I call to receive service and concern of my accounts. It is ridiculous and no one should pay or put their money in a place where they cannot trust and rely on the people who handle their finances.

If no star rating was available I would give. My husband has had an account since the 1980s with OnPath FCU (ASIFCU). All of our banking at one time was with them. I have complained about service from day one of using (2005) but my husband would not change. I have experienced checks held, even a cashiers check for $25,000 I was told would need to be held for 10 days due to the bank it was on being out of state. The bank was State Bank with a location in Mandeville, LA. I was so angry I drove to Mandeville and cashed the check and brought cash back to ASIFCU. The latest incident is a mortgage that we had with OnPath since 2006. We refinanced and the payoff was wired to OnPath on 9/22. OnPath chose to deposit into our savings vs paying the mortgage off. On 9/30 the money was then transferred to the mortgage and of course we have been charged the interest on the loan for the 8 days the money was in savings drawing no interest. We have over $2000 owed to us that was in escrow. On October 12th I called OnPath at 11:40 am and was on hold for 11 minutes. I finally used the auto system and left a number for them to call me back on. I was holding for the loan dept. Another call was made at 1:50 pm the same day with a wait time of 20 minutes prior to hanging up. The next day I received a call around 3:00 pm from someone and when explaining I needed information on the mortgage I was told she would need to transfer me to that department???? That is the department I requested to call me the day before. After letting her know I was not available to hold for their long wait times she agreed to take my number and get someone to call me. Today is October 15th and I still have not received a call. I work 8 to 5 and my job is on a phone all day, I do not have hours to wait to talk to someone and lunch hour is not enough time to hold for them. I have experienced this customer service from them from day one. I have kept a checking, savings and credit card with them because my husband insisted but he got to finally experience the frustration of dealing with them and is in complete agreement to move everything to the competitor we now use for our loans and day to day banking. I guess I will take a PTO day and drive to Harrahan, LA to the main office to get my questions answered.

Signed up for a secured credit car through onpath to help me build up my credit.Shortly after getting it I decided to raise my deposit for a higher limit.Some weeks go by and I notice an extra account on my banking app that would split what I spent on the card so I call to inquire.Staff member assured me it was no problem and that I should pay both any time a balance is there.Some time goes by and I still feeling uncomfortable about it so I call in again and this time Im told the current card and corresponding account is all I should worry about and the extra account will eventually fall off.Shortly after that I receive another card in the mail with the information matching the extra account after hearing this account will fall off I cut up the card.The week after my credit card stopped working and the staff member I talked to seemed excited to tell me that my card was shut off and the service was transferred to the new one they sent.Not only did nobody explain this to me I had been told by their staff that my existing card would be the one to stay.I waiting and debated on the phone for hours as the staff member reassured me that it was nothing they can do to remedy the problem caused by their staff misinforming me.Even after putting me on hold for 10-15 minutes to review the call she said I can either wait 14 business days to get a new card issued or pay 25 dollars for rush delivery to get it quicker.She argue that even paying the 25 was beyond what the bank was will to do for a customer they misinformed!!!!!!After reaffirming my point and being on hold another 10-15 minutes she claimed they were willing to wave the 25 dollars.At the end of the day that was weeks ago and I still dont have my card and no concessions have been made for the BS their incompetent staff put me through.Staff is only knowledgeable when explaining what they cant do to help you,their effort to compensate for shortcomings is nonexistent,while most banks just want your money Onpath goes the extra mile to make sure you know your banking experience means nothing to them.You would be better off throwing your money away before banking with Onpath.

Awful. Horrible customer service. Bank policies change day to day and rep. to rep. Employees have no idea what they are doing. Have no clue about the laws and regulations of banking. Do not use this banking institution. Doubt they are around much longer. 5 years later the same old story. No one is helpful. Everyone seems to have an its not my problem attitude. Fees have gotten ridiculous. Bank admittedly has its own policies. Which also means things are at there discretion. So why arent things be handled on a case by case basis for long standing customers with many accounts? Most of us bank with local credit unions for the personalized service....certainly not the convenience. Service during the hurricane was unacceptable. Time to find a better credit Union.

Jordan at the Covington OnPath was sooo helpful! He was easy to contact, explained things on our level, and quick to get our paperwork to us and filled out. We did many things with Jordan to better our finances, one of the best being refinancing our cars. If it were possible to give them less than one star, then I absolutely would. Why? Lets start with how the ATMs are ALWAYS broken. You have a big sign saying for your convenience, cash deposits are accepted yet that cant happen because the ATMs are always broke. They must not realize how inconvenient this is, because the ATM Im referring to has been broken for going on two weeks (Harvey, LA) and the other one (in Algiers) hasnt worked since I became a member. Ask the teller (or anyone that works there) when will it be fixed youll be met with a bunch of I dont knows with a side of attitude. Also, if you have any type of banking issue and need to speak to someone in customer service, it literally takes them 2-3 days to call you back. Completely unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and join a legit, national banking institution or credit union. Youll be saving yourself a lot of hassle in the long term.

Apparently when attempting to withdraw your own money tellers become dishonest roadblocks during the process. I went in for a cashiers check made out to a title company but instead my account was flagged. Every dollar in it I worked for and had to even have my credit re run to keep my account not only open but to withdraw my own dollars directly deposited in it. I do not recommend using this branch or this bank if the tellers are not only dishonest but if this branch/bank has a practice of putting themselves between you and your own money. My closing was delayed and all parities involved waited over 2 hours for me to correct this. Will be happy to never set foot inside again.

One year I had a direct deposit from the IRS . It did not show up in my account but it was there. I asked different people in the office and I got one assistance manager at the Louisiana St. Branch and she solved the problem. She got my money for me. I was so happy.

I ve been with this Credit Union since it was ASI and I ve always received amazing service both customer and financial! I ve visited both Westbank locations and the one in Elmwood and the customer service reigns supreme for all 3 branches. What s stands out to me is that they are a people bank not a business bank , meaning they care more about taking care of people and helping them by providing options that most big banks won t unless you have a big business and a lot of money. Just recently I purchased a new vehicle and had the please of working with Hope Sanderson to get my loan and she did everything and then some to get me approved and on the road in just a few hours. No one can beat their rates!

Worst manager i have ever in westwego. Nastiest attitude ever. Everybody i get to open an account there has an issue with this same manager. It dont matter how many times she has been reported she still manages to keep her job and that nasty attitude i just dont understand why she never been addressed with any of the many issues she always have with customers. I ve called over and over again to get a current statement of account and I ve been told conflicting information almost every time I ve called. I was incorrectly told I could not close an account by the branch manager because the irs would come after me. My last experience before this was when my wife s debit card was compromised, after 2 hours on the phone, (several calls) mine got shut down and hers remained open. There are apparently 3 competent people that work here and they re too busy fixing everyone else s screwups they re too busy to fulfill their legal obligations to their membership. I cannot get anyone in management to return my calls, I m so fed up with dealing with this place.

I wanted to give a special shout out to Leigh Ann O Keefe in the Covington branch office! Recently I had a pay pal account become compromised and unauthorized money was taken from my account....she was able to help me quickly freeze pay pal access to my account and refund the stolen funds....the same day! I have always felt a personal relationship the the staff in Covington, but the efforts made by Leigh Ann made it even deeper! I didn t feel like another account holder....I felt like I was part of their family and they cared about me and my financial well being! I had been putting off an errand of having to go inside On Path s Harahan Lobby to obtain a certified check. Not because of COVID just because it wasn t a familiar task for me. I ve been trying to get an inherited IRA transferred out of OnPath and in to my bank since February 2020 (BEFORE COVID!). Here it is mid-September and my money is still being held hostage in NOLA. No one seems to know how to make this transaction happen. My bank cant get through to talk to anyone; each person I speak with tells me something different. Only 1 person has been able to help me a bit, but she s not even in a customer- facing role anymore, so I don t want to interrupt her again because no one else can do their job. And please don t use the COVID excuse for poor customer service - we ve been at this for six months and you should have figured it out by now.

Since they switched to Onpath I have received the worst service of my life. They take a long time to answer, if you leave your number so they can call you back in 5 days you will receive it. And now to complete, if you want to make a payment over the phone, they do not accept it if it is from another institution. Definitely the other administration (ASI) much, much better than this one.

I ve been trying to reach this bank for over 3 weeks now. I ve request a call back four times and no one has ever called back so I decided to just wait on hold. However, that didn t work either because while waiting over an hour on hold the phone just hung up at 5pm. I called today waited over an hour again only to speak to an agent and to be placed on hold and while on hold the phone hangs up again however the agent didn t call back. For the last 2 1/2 weeks I ve been calling about a savings account I opened online and someone was suppose to reach out in 24-48 hours I gave them a week before I called to check on my application. Now I ve been calling since yesterday because my car was broken into and I need to report my checks missing. I m a very patient and understanding person but this is just horrible.

Had a auto loan with these folks and was told to mail in a check to pay it off or transfer money between two banks because their system wont take more than 5000. Its 2020 folks I am not mailing a 16,000 dollar check and its ridiculous that some one has to do a 7 day transfer into on path to pay off a loan. I promise I will not business with these folks and will steer everyone I know away from this horrible bank.

Been a member since 1978, have paid off several loans but I feel that since they have grow from asifcu to Onpath, there services are inconsistant. Utilized the drive up this week and there was a long line With only 2 lanes open even though the lobby is not open. Inefficient operations. Tried to do transfers on line but got an error. Called the number and put my phone number to be called but after an hour no call. If we can not enter the lobby with out an appt, all other operations should be 100% and they are not. The stickers say u were rated number one credit union but Google has u as 3.1 out of 5. U need to step up ur game during these times.

Onpath is obviously experiencing critical failures in all aspects of their operations, and I hate that they bought my previous credit union (ASI.) Most of their customer service options (via the automated phone system) are busy and reroute you back to the main menu. Then you have no choice but to select another, wrong menu option. If you are lucky, you get to wait on hold for well over an hour! I was provided wrong information by one telephone rep. I have been exchanging emails with a different rep for over 2 weeks and have yet to be given the info needed to pay off a loan. With so many people defaulting on loan payments due to corona-related wage losses, you would think they would want my money. Do not do business with this grossly incompetent company!

My mother has been banking at ASI now OnPath for over 50 years, on Jan. 11, 2020 for the 2nd time in 3 years she had to close her account and reopen because of fraud. At the time it was reopen her account was to be flaged to accept only checks containing her signature. One month to the day they put through a fraud check. Amy the TSR manager told me the only thing we could do is call the merchant. She claims all the information was on the check. Routing number/account number therefore there my mother must have given it to the merchant. Every employee in the bank has access to this information. It is possible someone from within the bank is using the information from accounts to steal money but no one above a clerk will speak to the customers. They refuse to fix any issues that they create.

Ive banked with ASI for the past 10 years. Up until the last year or so, I didnt really have any complaints...except the limited locations. I never had an issue getting in touch with customer service if I had a question or using any of their services. But, over the past year, everything has changed. I have the hardest time getting anyone on the phone, they failed to notify me of a fraud issue and blocked my card while traveling (despite my calling to alert them of my trip)...and did so two more times before anyone even bothered to investigate the reason. They also changed their check deposit policies, resulting in my money behind held hostage for up to two weeks at a time. The worst was an insurance check I needed to pay vendors. The reason i was given was that, DURING KATRINA, people faked insurance checks so they now hold them for 11 business days. Ten years later they are still holding insurance checks for ELEVEN business days?!?! After they started holding personal checks for relatively small sums for 3-5 days, I was done and switched to Chase. I can now find a bank on every other corner and deposit checks WITH MY PHONE...and the funds are available the next day!

If you need to make a large purchase with your debit card make sure you have groceries, cash etc before. They just freeze your account without so much as a phone call or email to verify that you have used your card. This has happened 2 months in a row and it is up to you to take the time to clear that up. Customer service ranges from poor to non-existent. You cannot contact the customer service dept. on weekends or before 9 oclock during the week. The term bankers hours must have been invented by this place. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
