Setting up an account with the credit union was relatively easy but using their drive through banking is poor at best. I have had to wait as long as 20 minutes to just make a deposit. They really need to hire some people!

My experiences with the UKFCU have always been outstanding. These days I seldomly have to go inside a branch so I primarily use the drive through. The tellers are always so very courteous . . . its such a small thing but using your name when they come on screen is lovely. I had one very poor experience many years ago with a male employee but it was obviously the one outlier in my 50 years of experiences with UKFCU. PLUS a credit union is such a far better option for banking. Weve not had to deal with all of the fees commercial banks include in their day-to-day operations. My only fees have included their overdraft protection when I really screw up but its always my error. I cannot recommend the UKFCU more and am very grateful theyre a reasonable option for commercial banking.

They did not protect me from identify fraud, I had to change banks. After 14 years with UKFCU, I closed my accounts with them and switched to a different bank. As a UK alum, this was a sad move, but it was necessary after it became clear that UKFCU was not capable of protecting my money. In summer, 2024, I moved to a new house. In the process of moving, I managed to throw away on old checkbook, despite having shredded all sorts of other documents. A stupid move, but in the chaos of moving sometimes things happen. In July, I first noticed that there were fraudulent transactions. Someone was writing checks from my account and transferring money into a different bank from my account. I called UKFCU as soon as I realized this was happening. I spoke to someone who said theyd cancelled all my previous checks and so it should stop. It did not stop, the thieves continued to make fraudulent withdrawals out of my bank account. I called again and was told that actually the first person only cancelled 3 of my check books- not all of them. I then spoke to someone who said that they would put a freeze on my checking account so that no withdrawals of any kind could be made- including from me. This seemed like a good short term solution while I worked on getting a different checking account from UKFCU. But it still didnt stop. The thieves continued to withdraw money from my account, even after I was told that all my checks had been cancelled and my checking account was frozen. I called again. I spoke to someone who gave the impression that they had not been in the job long and didnt have a clue how things worked. That was demoralizing but I just called again the next day, trying to get someone who knew what they were doing. I spoke to someone who said that they would completely close my checking account, move all my money into savings, and that someone would call me by the next day to help me set up the new checking account. No one ever called. In fact, there were a few times throughout this ordeal where someone from UKFCU told me that someone would call me later that day or the next and no one ever did. At that point, I realized I could not trust UKFCU to protect my money. There was no urgency about this situation, literally everyone I talked to told me something different and many of the people I spoke with did not seem clear on their on internal processes. A lot of people told me things that turned out to be untrue. Because they only have branches in Lexington, I drove over from Louisville (had to take a day off work to get this done) to go to an in person location, withdraw all of my money, and then go to my new bank and deposit it. So, after 14 years as a proud UKFCU member, I closed my account and left. No one cared, there was no follow up call or apology. In total, the thieves managed to steal $5000 from me. Its all been reimbursed, but I am not a person who had a lot of money to begin with. I imagine thats why it wasnt a terribly urgent situation from UKFCUs point of view. If I was someone who had a lot of money in the bank, it may have been a different experience.

I had a great experience! I worked with Kobe Henderson. He was beyond friendly and easy to work with! I have accounts with 3 other banks and wanted to restructure some loans. UK Federal Credit Union beat the terms and interest rates by 2 full points than my other banks. This allowed me to free up some cash flow to pay down on the principle balance. I couldn t be happier!!!

Cant build credit with a credit union with a flawed system. I make a credit card payment with there portal that has my banking info already in it it reflects on my debit card transaction history and credit card transaction history our mistake is your problem should be there motto .

The bank services are fine but communication is awful. There are several locations in Lexington Kentucky; however, they all have the same phone number. This means you cannot call directly to the branch office you just visited. When you call the number, you must work your way through the phone system, which is difficult. Then you will be on hold for a long time to speak to a real person. The person I spoke with gave me generic answers. I asked to get a call back from the branch office I normally go to and yet three hours later and I still have not received a call back. sApparently, there is no real customer service without driving back to Lexington. I dont live in Lexington, so this is aggravating. I have been with this credit union for years, however, if I needed assistance often, I would close my account.

Fees are absolutely ridiculous - for every little thing and incredibly high. Would not recommend any loans, transfers, or other services. Dont even feel like I can deposit, withdraw funds, or close my regular savings account without incurring some ridiculous fee I didnt know about.

Theyre nice on the phone and helpful the past several years with questions, but what Im just about sick of, is the mishandling of my payments by money order. I dont like using the app because it could take 5-7 days for the mobile payments to go through, thats not good for my personal budgetting so Ive preferred to mail in/drop off money orders so I know its done. I put the account number for each specific account on the money order like they requested I do in the beginning and even write October car payment or whatever it is for on it. Probably about a year ago, I used to send 3 money ordera for 3 different accounts in One envelope. Then after the 3rd time of me calling and asking why one account had the payment applied but others were MIA, theyd told me that the other money orders had accidentally been thrown away/not noticed in the envelope multiple. This is farfetched/unprofessional for a bank but okay, people make mistakes. Well, I started sending 3 separate certified envelopes so theyre required to sign for each one and I have the record for everything. That had been going well. So now, theyre applying all the payments Im making to my accounts but THE WRONG ONES. I specifically have each account number written on the payment and I just checked to make sure that they were all deposited last week since I left them in the drop box Wednesday, and this is now the 4th or 5th time theyve applied multiple payments to the wrong accounts, leaving late fees and other charges on the one they shouldve applied it to. I can specifically see one payment successfully added to one, and then TWO payments on the 2nd account, and 0 payments on the last one. Im getting really irritated about this. Its almost a 2 hour round trip to pay at the nearest location in person, thats granting the fact that I can get off work and get there before closing. Im going to have to play phone tag again Tuesday when they open back, have an associate get the issue, wait 1-3 days for an upper level manager to authorize the changes, and then maybe a couple more days before the right changes are made. If you have multiple banking items at UKFCU, go check your accounts. If theyve been making these mistakes with mine, surely they are other issues processing for other accounts. I guess Ill be making a plan for a trip to come pay things in cash and always have that receipt stored away since there is no assurance that this wont happen again since it.. keeps happening over and over

Absolutely ridiculous place I have a loan with them. Have tried numerous times just to speak to a loan officer about my loan and 3 times the same guy answer the phone and refuses to allow me to talk to a loan officer Absolutely a joke. Never I. My life have had a bank tell me I cant speak to a loan officer worst customer service of any bank. Only way u can talk to a loan officer is put a application out and have credit pulled before u allowed to talk to loan officer.

I had a very pleasant experience renewing a CD at UKFCU. Their rates are always good and at the top. That indicates to me they are giving back to their members. One recent change on their early withdrawal penalty is a disappointment. They are not allowing partial withdrawals and require you to withdraw and close the whole CD amount. This is not a member-friendly policy. The solution for the member is to now purchase multiple smaller CD to avoid having to cash in the entire CD. Only causes more work and time for the credit union and member. Please rethink this policy.

Not a great experience, as we were not issued checks for our account, we could not connect to our primary institution to ACH, and when we went to a partner branch as instructed, we were limited to what we could withdraw, which was not disclosed by UKFCU, so we had no access to our funds without either a 5 day wire hold, or driving to a branch an hour and half away. This would have been a much better experience with a little up front, honest communication about technical limitations and timing.

I haven t had a bad experience yet. Been using them for my personal checking account since 2015 and my business account since 2023. Everything updates almost instantly or marked as pending as soon as a transaction is made so the account balances are always accurate. Customer service has also been prompt and helpful too.

I am over the policies changing at this bank. I have used them for years don t receive any notifications on when payments are due but yet when I check in the app it shows it s not due for over a month. Then when I go to withdraw state we have locked your account due to not paying this bill but how do I even know it is due when the due date states over a month away in the app. This is ridiculous and very confusing. I will be looking for a new bank due to this happening multiple times and causing a major inconvenience for myself.

I am giving a 3-star review because the experience I had wiring money with UKFCU was incredibly stressful and overly difficult, but those are things that I believe were unique to this situation and I will take those up with the Credit Union itself. However, I want to give one of the customer service representatives, Lisa, a huge shout out for being amazingly professional and helpful. Throughout this experience I had to call customer service no fewer than 8 times to get information about what was going on with my request. I got different representatives each time, except I ended up with Lisa twice and in both of those conversations I left feeling heard, validated, and like advancement was made on my issue. So while this experience as a whole was difficult, Lisa was amazing and I would give her 5 stars if I had a chance to rate just her.

This establishment has an inefficient customer support team. I am constantly transferred or brushed off when asking questions. Customer feedback was completely ignored when speaking with someone above the department. This includes poor automation when selecting option 1 you have to go through other individuals to get to a loan department. I am very thankful I chose not to refinance my vehicle and went with L&N. They have amazing customer service and very knowledgeable without putting you on hold every question.

I went in to UK FCU and needed to do a quick transaction ( didn t have much time to wait). My luck, there was no line and staff was able to help me right away though, not much enthusiasm in greeting me. Smiles are free, I would like to see more of them on their faces.

Im appalled at how terrible my experience with customer service has been. Ive had complete strangers that Ive felt cared about me more than ANYONE at this bank. Ive been without access to my account for almost THREE WEEKS and the response I get every time is not remotely helpful. Such a terrible way to treat people

Serves it right University of Kentucky should have known better. Horrible bank to go through, i was a good customer for years paying off my loan no problem. I had hard times at the end of COVID they acted like they were working with me and then decided they didnt want to work with me anymore even though I was answering the phone, I was paying what I could when I could, I wasnt ducking and dodging. All I did was ask a question concerning what would happen with my repo and they decided to repo my truck on the day I was set to make my payment

It doesnt shock me that the reviews are so low on this bank. My husband took a certified cashiers check in to deposit into the account he has had for 2 years and they said it would be 5-10 days pending approval. This is insane. We were hoping this bank would be a good one for us but are now considering others.

i ve been a member for 25 years and ukfcu is the worst now. My card frequently doesn t let me access. My debit account and cardholder services is no help. Very close to canceling my account and moving my money somewhere else.

I had no problems with this bank until the last year. Their customer service is poor. I constantly have to go back and forth to the bank to address their mistakes. They have multiple windows for drive-through, but none of them work OR you have to wait 30 minutes because they are short staffed. And if you need something in the bank plan on waiting up to a hour but they will politely tell you 30 minutes - it never fails. If you need any help over the weekend, you might as well just wait until Monday because nobody on their toll-free line can do anything. The only thing they re capable of doing is transferring you back-and-forth to people until you get frustrated and hang up. I don t need a reply from the bank to my review. It is very apparent to me after 10+ years of being a member there your customer service is not your priority. So please save the time and the words to writing back to my review telling me how you re gonna fix this. Do yourself and your family a favor and stay away from this bank.

Just dont get the credit card. If you dont put a travel notice before you go on a trip even just to TN the card gets shut off for fraud prevention. And to turn it on is there an automated text to reply to or something on the App? NOPE. Call card services, add the trip info. Then call member services, who will tell you to call card services. Then card services says to call fraud services, sit on hold 30 minutes. Then when they dont pick up call card services and ask about member services. Whoops member services office that deals with this particular issue is only open 9am to 1pm mon-fri. So if this is the only card you have on you guess you can just ask all your friends to chip in on dinner.. Most absolutely pathetic service Ive ever had with a credit card. Will be transferring the balance and ditching the card asap. Just unimaginably useless. 7/10/23: Also allow plenty of time in the drive through and definitely dont expect first come first serve basis, there are three lanes and I came with only one other car waiting and sent the tube in with my deposits. Then two other cars pulled up and both of them got attention before anyone spoke to me. This is not the first time this has happened. Apparently whoever came help didnt bother asking who was next they just took care of the people in lane 1. This is not a hard thing to achieve, when it only takes one question when you go over to help the drive thru person, a simple who was next? Would solve it. 1/9/2024: Also, if you do a deposit using the app, there is a 2-day delay in the funds being available--even if the check is written from a UKFCU account. There doesnt seem to be any reason for this. For these continued poor policy issues, I do not use UKFCU as a primary bank, and Ive looked at other credit unions but UKFCU seems to be the cheapest option from what I can tell. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for.

This is the only institution that I bank with that doesnt allow me to make an appointment to see a banker. I run on a schedule, and only accepting walk-ins is crazy to me for a financial review, and it, of course, does not help that theres usually an hour wait.

Awful customer service, talked too atleast 5 different specialists and all seem too know little too nothing about anything going on. I had too pay back insurance they bought out because someone didnt have information they should of. Highly do not recommend.

I could not be more displeased with the service I receive here. So far, it has taken five weeks just to get a credit card replaced and it has costed me several hours of wasted time on the phone with nothing accomplished. There seems to be a major communication breakdown between departments. If I didn t still have a loan to pay down I would shut down my account and bank somewhere else in a heartbeat.

Absolutely horrible. Used for an auto loan and purchased the gap insurance. Ended up paying vehicle off 6yrs early. They refuse to refund unused gap insurance. Never had an issue with any other loan company before. When speaking with the dealership they stated that this company is the ONLY one that does this. Horrible!!!
