i visited west town jewelry & loan because it was conveniently located near the other errands i was running today. i came in for an appraisal on a ring my aunt had given me a few years ago that i was looking to get some cash for. gabe was super friendly and informative and less than 10 minutes after i had walked in a was walking out with cash (and complimentary chocolate!) in hand.

Bottom line, best prices on jewelry and coins. West town has the best customer service as they treat everyone like family. The store is a classy store as they just deal with jewelry and coins. They do not deal with electronics and stuff like that. Gabe the owner was a nice man and he was definitely an industry expert.

After reading reviews, I still was hesitant to go in because I have never been to a place like this before. When I went in Gabe told me the price, what it was worth, and how he came up with the value. After Gabe gave me the price I went to a bunch of other shops as I have time and don t need the money. I was disgusted!!! All the other shops just said, how much do you want for it and wouldn t give me a price. A few shops felt sleazy! Gabe gave me the best price, but even if it was close, I liked him the best and sold to West town.

I went in today with a sterling flatware set. I went downtown where they said they would pay me for the pattern. I called Gabe and he said it s for the silver value not the piece. Most of the prices were market for selling my gold; unfortunately, a deceitful spirit took over the person who clearly misquoted a lower price. I saw the calculator but he chose to quote a $3 lower price to me, one of Gods angels. This isnt about great reviews to bring in more business but once in a while, the part of a person that falls short of Gods glory shows up when they are near me. Unfortunately again, I havent been able to find a closer location that can service me with good intentions. If I am not successful, I might have to go back.

Didnt end up buying or selling anything but that happens. I was skeptical of all the good reviews since sometimes its fake. True to his reputation he was very helpful and very transparent in all he did. Was there a little over a week ago, it was my first time selling anything at a pawn shop, so naturally I was a bit nervous, the owner Gabe was AMAZING, he explained to me the whole process, patiently took the time to show me how he arrives at the price he offers for every single item I brought it, & I think what struck me the most was his honesty, I brought in a Pandora necklace, that he suggested I hold on to, he even suggested I try selling it on ebay, because I d get more money for it on there. Atleast better then all pawn shops when it comes to customer service and the way they treat u, but every other pawn shop gave me the actual value of my gold, weighing in at 6 grams solid. This guy says my 10k gold rope is worth 80 bucks, i paid 200+ for it and all those other pawn shops that actually suck paid me double every single time. I got 220 at ez pawn one time for asking. But then i broke my chain i decided to sell it here and the man gave me 35 bucks for the same chain saying its broken and its only 10k so its not worth much, if i hadnt been on a hour and half long bus ride to get there i would of went across the city to ezpawn where i get paid what i deserve. Nice people, doesnt help much tho. Wont be back.

Came in wanting to sell my mothers watch. Gabe took his time to explain my options and ultimately recommended Id sell the watch on Ebay as Id get more for it. He even took 30 minutes to explain the Ebay protocol, measure the band length and provide certain details of the watch I wouldnt have been able to come up with myself. This was my first time visiting a buy/ resale shop. Mike was very nice and professional. He made me feel at ease. He spoke to me throughout the process letting me know what he was doing and why. From what he explained to me I feel that I was treated fairly and respectfully. There was only one thing that was probably my fault. Great experience! I brought a few pieces of old jewelry that I don t wear anymore to West Town Jewelry and Loan to sell after reading the good reviews. Gabe was incredibly friendly and helpful, and walked me through all of the steps of evaluating and pricing the items with total transparency. The prices were fair and based on the up-to-the minute market value of the metals, and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of the transaction. Additionally, Gabe generously took the time to appraise a set of antique silverware so that I could put it up on eBay, and wrote out a sample template of the way that he would approach posting the listing. Gabe is super professional, is really contentious about establishing trust in the transaction, and I would certainly do business with him in the future.

The place is in a great location. Gabe is a very polite and the customer service was great. I went by to sell gold and Gabe asked me if I knew the Karat of my gold and I didnt know. He tested it in front of me and said it was 14K. I ended up going somewhere else to have a second opinion. The second place tested the gold in front of me and said it was 18k. They used a machine to test and after the machine they did the same method that Gabe used with consists in scratching the gold and using some drops to check the purity. Be aware if you are interested in selling gold everybody can make mistakes, hopefully this was the case. Besides that the place seems to be a good! ---------------------------- Now you are making a real mistake. First my intention was never to hurt your business. Im just writing this review because I think its important to help customers and also the places, so they know how they can improve their business. I was being 100% honest. I also said you could had made a mistake. Second, Ive NEVER sold you anything. Also, the second place I went paid almost twice the price you offered to me.

Went to west town jewelry and loan and brought in some costume jewelry that I that other pawn shops told me were nothing gabe the owner has a xray machine that tells you weather its real gold or not well he put each piece of costume jewelry I had and some of them had little gold beads in between the the regular beads well they turned out to be real gold so gabe the owner took the time to take apart the necklaces and weigh how much gold I had I made I made 125 dollars of garbage jewelry that other pawn shops told me to just throw away a big thank you to gabe if it wasnt for his honesty I would of threw away over a hundred dollars I recommend this place very very highly

I was looking for a buy and sell Jewelry store as I didnt have good experiences of other places in Chicago, so when I read all the great reviews, I just had to check this place out. I called and spoke to Gabe (the owner) and indicated that I had some misc gold jewelry, old watches, and other oddities that I was looking to sell that if he bought any of these items. He told me to bring them in and he would give me a fair evaluation of my items. To make a long story semi-short, a family member and I checked out his store about an hour after I called. Its no lie, this man is a great. He is very down to earth and explains the worth of your items and the techniques he uses to give you the best value for your items. It was quiet when we first arrived, and soon after customers started coming in and it got really busy. Since we were not in a hurry and had several items for him to review, he attended to his other customers first then came back to us very quickly. He was very thorough in checking the items and told us what each item was worth. He also gave us some really good tips that others in this business dont do at all. I was able to sell my gold jewelry at a great price and received more than what I was expecting. He made our experience so pleasant, that we are going to dig for more items to go back and support his business. Thanks Gabe!!

I know the owner, Gabe and he helps me out with all of my coin and jewelry needs. If he can t help for some reason he will tell me places to go that can better help me or to look it up on eBay and put it there. He does this because he wants me to get the best prices and or help me learn more about my coins. Over all this is an amazing store. It s like a really fancy pawn shop with great service. I couldnt be happier with this place, and will definitely be returning here in the future! 28 years ago my mom lost the marquis diamond out of her engagement ring while cleaning the house. She was devastated! She has always wanted to get a replacement diamond for it, but with 3 daughters in private school, the price was never right and eventually it just became a dream to get it taken care of. She recently expressed to me that its still something she would like to do, so I thought we should look into it. I heard good things about west town jewelry, so I thought Id start there and Im so glad I did! Gabe, the owner of this place, was so helpful and knowledgeable and ended up finding an excellent quality diamond to go in my moms ring! The clarity was impeccable and the price he quoted was extremely reasonable. My mom was thrilled that she may actually finally have her ring taken care of! She decided she wanted to adjoin her wedding band and engagement rings as well as get both of them stretched. There was also a small diamond missing from her wedding band which she wanted a replacement for. Gabe said this was no problem at all, so we brought him her bands, sized her finger and he handled the rest! The turnaround time for all of this happening was very quick too and Gabe was very attentive to her situation and made sure he handled her rings with care and that she had them back as soon as possible. When we got them back they looked brand new, as he cleaned them really well for her too! After 40 years of marriage her wedding band was looking rough and kind of tarnished, but its back to its original glory! I should also mention that my mom is disabled and in a wheelchair and it was not an issue for her to get in and out of this building. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for their jewelry needs.

A buddy of mine told me about this place, man am I glad he did! I went in to look for a gold chain for the wife. Ended up finding a great piece and the price was awesome. Only problem is that there was too many nice things to choose from. It was a good problem. I think the guy who took care of me was Gabe, and he seemed like he might have been the owner.
