Beware, this outfit is actually a Mortgage Company masquerading as a Bank! I called in to get more information about their Business Account and was met with more questions and insults than answers. Michael kept using words like , “if I wanted to start a business”, “we wouldn’t be able to help your business .. and other disparaging words. He even put out that the “Bank” has only two locations (Illinois) and by my business being out of state I may not be approved. This representative play the insulted customer service representative card when I put different logical scenarios to him like, why would I need to physically go to a location in Illinois to start an account when I could make use of document sharing software, mobile apps and the like?. Furthermore, I am a Veteran and as I understand, this company was founded by Veterans. I feel dejected. He should’ve said from the beginning, WE don’t want your business!

What was the best part of your experience?
I would check all of the above the customer service was great. If I had a question and Cedrick Burrows wouldn't answer (which was very rare) I'd get a call back in less then 30 mins. The home loan process was easy and smooth everything was explained to me without questions. I'd highly recommend 👌

A very deceitful company. They tell you one thing and put another in the paperwork. Make sure you read every bit of paperwork they make you sign, because they try to sneak things in there that werent discussed. It all took months longer than I was told, and their communication was horrible. I had to constantly ask what more information they needed from me.

The VA backed construction loan process was smooth with Shawn s team. The process did not take longer than expected, however it is a long process. We were working with one other bank before TFSB and that did not work out. TFSB was able to make miracles happen.

If you are looking for knowledgeable and accountable service / Bankers this is not the bank for you. If you expectation is that phone calls get returned and you are closing in a timely manner this is not the bank for you. If youre into continuous oops we forgot and we need one more thing and then another thing which they should have known the whole time by all means go for it. They will tell you whatever stories they seem necessary. I was fortunate enough to have somebody mansplain to me what a streamline is. They dont even remember what bogus they told you on the first call and tell you the opposite the next one. The whole experience whats awful unprofessional and at points ridiculous All this mess to have the mortgage sold after 1 payment

Well, it started out good good presentation enough to say yes to. I was asked to give all documentation that was needed. I was approved according to my credit. due to the area where I lived in the Internet was not the best. Went back-and-forth to get documentation. Everything was going fine I believe and then I received a letter stating they needed more documentation and that I had To get it in. I was told not to make a mortgage payment so I didn t know my mortgage payment is overdue. I also paid $400 to have my house appraised. And I also was told that I was going to get this back but now since I ve given up. I m out of $400. At the same time, I was told that I was going to get a 6% instead it was 7% Interest. I guess my thing is communication. I ve tried to call no answer no reply tried to email, no reply no response. They get your hopes up thinking that things are going to go good for you but all reality it s not when they find something that s not good. I believe that they should come out and tell you upfront whether you re approved or not to where you don t have to go through all what you ve gone through to get approved . So all my Christmas is going to suck this year. I just want to say thank you very much for nothing.

Worst experience ever! Rebekah fields is the most unprofessional loan officer and obviously doesn t know what she is doing. Do yourself a favor and find some other lender as these people don t care and obviously don t know what they are doing. I submitted all my financial documents and she stated everything was fine, she came up with different kind of pre approval figures ,i got suspicious and made inquiries with different lender and i was told I can t get up to that amount. I told her she said i was fine. I got the house i wanted and we began the process,Ruby Sandhu the underwriter sent me a congratulations message that my loan as been conditionally approved, she didn t send official letter of the approval or terms of the loan,, Rebekah fields sent exorbitant closing cost which i know she came up with figures, I challenged the figures and she told me not to worry you not going to pay up to that, I believed her as my loan officer. Some days to closing she started requesting for different kind of documents with funny terms and conditions, I believe as loan officer who as all my financial documents she should have reviewed all my documents. A day to closing ,your husband is owing IRS we need you to get the fund before closing, we got the fund and gave her proof that we have the fund, she said let s close in 2days we are all set. Three days to closing she came with another excuse, you were denied because you didn t have 3 months mortgage advance in your account.The whole process was draining and exhausting.

Worst experience ever! Diana Muresan is the worst , most unprofessional lender and she claims is the vice president ! If the vice president is so unprofessional cant say more! She didn t answer the phone, text, messages Long story short they said they could not fund the loan (the investor turn down the loan on the closing day) Actually one day after our closing date(we had to extend 2days the escrow , we didn t extend longer cause she didn t even answer the phone to our agent to tell her how much time she needed) Imagine in what situation we were: on our closing day to find out we don t have a loan and our lender didn t answered the phone all that day)! Called her N times , texts begging for an answer During all the process they said everything is good , you are more than qualified ! We recieved notice of conditional loan approval! And we send all the condition they asked (like last bank statement, and explanation of an old address ,we gave everything they asked on conditional loan approval) They missed the closing day and said the appraisal of the house was dennied by the underwriter even if the apprisal was 50k above the price of the house! And the apprisal was made by their company! I would not recommend it, especially Diana Muresan!

Declined to refinance with them and was pushed to take out a loan. Declined that as well and said I was not interested. Within an hour, I have received 24 phone calls from them from spoofed 615 area code numbers. It did not start until I declined to do business with them. I was dealing with Michael Cecero who is supposedly the VP in the Nashville branch.

Please take my advice, as a decorated veteran of Iraq and a successful Doctor...do not use this institution for your financial needs. In good faith, I went to them for a home equity loan. After submitting all my financial information, I received a most astounding offer. Extremely exorbitant interest rates, closing costs, and monthly payments, I asked for my file back so I may contact competitors. I was only met with disrespect and apathy. They simply would not comply. Please go elsewhere for your important financial needs. If they disrespect me, they surely will others. Thank you

We had an incredible experience taking a mortgage with Federal Saving Bank. The options we had were excellent. Even the Doctors Mortgage, you wont find anywhere else. Mary Casares is the most kind and expert person you will find in this business. After hours calls, immediately responded phone calls and emails. Very happy to do business with them.

Federal Savings Bank (FSB) cold contacted us about doing a VA IRRRL to provide a cash out of equity. Everything sounded great, the prospect of the car being paid off and other loans consolidated plus a few thousand in cash sounded like a dream come true. We discussed all the details (at least we thought we discussed them all) and provided payment in advance for the appraisal. We then gathered all the needed documents that FSB requested and turned them in to the notary when she came out for us to sign the documents to start the process. We were promised that our documents would be returned by overnight mail once FSB scanned them into the system. It has been a month and all our requests to have these documents returned have fallen on deaf ears. It was after the notary left and we had time to go through the one hundred or so pages of documents that she left us with that we discovered the monster in the new mortgage. Going by the numbers that FSB provided, this IRRRL would add $209,000.00 in just interest to our mortgage! That is more than the first two houses we owned cost, combined! The lines of communication failed when we informed FSB of our intent not to go forward with this loan. Our phone calls went unanswered, and our e-mails were ignored. We requested for our documents to be returned and a refund of the appraisal fee (the appraisal had not even been ordered at the time we first canceled the loan). We did get a partial refund, less about $80.00 for services. It almost took an act of God to get them to provide us with a list of these services. Please read everything carefully and do the math before committing to any loan with FSB.

Giving them 1 star is to many. Someone pull a hard hit on me and my boyfriend credit without our permission. And no one cared there and didn t try to find out who did it. They wanted use to refinance our mortgage with them. They had our information since February but we change our mind back then so that s how they got our information.

I was most nervous about the process of securing a loan and I am go grateful I had Humma every step of the way! Humma and her team are incredible. I dont often write reviews, but my absolutely abysmal experience with this business warranted one. Please, do yourself a favor and find some other lender as these people dont care and clearly dont know what theyre doing. The representative we worked with told us several times that all of our funds were good to use for our down payment. Well, the closer we get to closing and they start ignoring my questions about ensuring all of our funds are good to use. Turns out once we get the Closing Statement we cant use half our funds because necessary paperwork wasnt filled out that our lender told us on several occasions we didnt need. Now a month down the line, this company sells our mortgage which we expected. However, they didnt transfer over my first payment after saying they would and now Im receiving emails from our new lender that I have a late fee because my payment wasnt received. I am so furious with the abysmal work done by the employees here especially when it comes to important matters like money and mortgages. I wish I could rate negative stars.

Just refinanced my home with them. Should have looked at google reviews first. The mortgage broker Richard krauss says hes a vet just like me. Will be there through the whole process. Have had nothing but trouble and now has completely ghosted and wont return any calls him or his assistant Sandra. They shorted the payment to my previous lender than took the money without permission from my escrow account to pay the shortage that was supposed to pay my insurance. Insurance is about to lapse and they are blaming previous lender even though they charged me an extra 2444.77 to pay my insurance for the year. Which is on my closing agreement. I was supposed to get my old escrow back which I doubt Im going to get. If you call they give you the runaround until they blame the settlement agent which you cant get ahold of. TIMOS is the title company they are the worst dont work with them and dont work with this bank.

I want to note the outstanding customer service we received from our banker, Yvette García-Metoyer. To say she went above and beyond is an understatement. Yvette was always a phone call away no matter if it was after hours or during the weekend on her personal time. This was my first time purchasing a home and had thousands of questions. No matter how crazy my questions were and no matter how many times my home buying situation changed: Yvette was patient, attentive and always answered my questions thoroughly for me to understand. Alan Hardesty was great the entire time throughout this process. We had a somewhat tricky situation and he always communicated everything and was available to discuss any questions whenever I needed. We have been trying to work with Sam Margoles and Melissa Guerrero for almost a month now. The amount of documents they have asked for that are not on their website has been ridiculous. We would ask for information to be corrected in documents and it never was updated. I had to ask the same questions several times before I would get an answer. More importantly Sam is the most unprofessional person I have ever experienced in business. When we told them we would not longer want to work with them, he made no attempt at a resolution. Which further more proves the claims that this company is a scam to scam veterans out of money. Run as fast as you can from them and do not even start working with them.

Total scam. I applied in January so I used my 2019 tax returns for proof of income since I haven t done my 2020 returns yet. Brian Roman told me everything looks good and to pay the $219 application fee. Then the delays started happening. It was delayed so long then they wanted my 2020 returns. I gave that to them in May and then he tells that I don t qualify anymore. My income was lowered because of COVID. Shouldn t he have known most people income will drop in 2020? Anyways, the application fee is non refundable. Total scam to collect application fee. Don t trust them. My credit score is over 800 and I was trying to refi to lower interest rate.

The payment portal is a total disaster for basic logistical things. Ive been trying to pay online instead of over the phone. I make a payment online and then they double debit. Constantly being transferred and waiting 15-20 minutes just to spend more time talking to someone that cant help.

Never doing business with this corrupt lender again. I was offered a refinance and the mortgage advisor assured me it was good to go. The lender insisted on charging me an appraisal before doing their due diligence to make sure all of the right questions were asked and even gave me the don t worry you qualify , I trusted them and made the payment. The lender provided little to no updates during weeks of the loan processing and when I demanded an update I was told that I do not qualify because I was deployed overseas in Afghanistan (which they were well aware) and now they keep that large appraisal charge they refuse to refund me adding to the already excessive stress I m currently enduring right now. Never trusting this corrupt lender again and on top of it all, I did not know deployed Veterans did not qualify for a refinance.

Mario Mendoza was such a great help in the loan process. I have already recommended some friends and family to work with him, and will continue to do so. My previous experience with trying to get a home loan was plain awful, I was working with Veterans United and they were all over the place. This place is HORRIBLE!!!! I have received too many mailings to count from this company and when I contacted them by phone to have me removed from the list the representative hung up on me and repeatedly did so. No wonder they do not give you names when you call. I have filed a BBB complaint because this is a form of harassment. Each letter has a different file number. It is like they decided to send me even more mailings. This is completely unacceptable and bad business behavior. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE MY BUSINESS!! They are so lucky they do not give zeros.

A Vice President told me there was a multi-unit lending option available. The company pulled my credit and had me upload supporting documents for a loan. After my credit was pulled I was told the bank did not support loans for multi-units. This could have been communicated before my credit was impacted. Did not meet customer service expectations.

This place is HORRIBLE!!!! I have received almost 100 mailings from this company and when I contacted them today, February 23, 2021 to have them remove me from these mailings the representative hung up on me and repeatedly did so. I will be filing a complaint with BBB. This is completely unacceptable and bad business behavior. You hang up on someone because they are requesting to be removed from your everyday mailings.

The process did take a bit longer than I expected but that was due to a few obstacles we had to address before the refinance could close. Peter was determined to find a path forward and did. What a shameful scam!! This Bank sends out unfounded equity information in hopes of drawing in the consumer. Theyre a lot of people out there who own property, and this bank is just one of the many Banks that are looking screw over the consumer. Just completed a mortgage refi with Brian and hist team at Federal Savings bank. Brian beat out all other mortgage rates by far, and helped explained the benefits of various different scenarios. The quote to closing process didnt take very long and communication was smooth throughout. Would definitely use them again, but doubt Ill need to since I got such an outstanding rate!

If I would have the option to rate 0 Ill do. My bad experience was with Maggie Martinez and her assistant Elizabeth Lopez, their lack of professionalism was too high. I applied for a home refinance back on October 2020, sent emails, texts ,and even I called them multiply times, sometimes they answer saying we are in a meeting well call you back that never happened, today Dec 28,2020 two months later and there is no response at all. I got tired, so another lender has been chosen. I do not recommend working with them.

Without Bob Tranchell we would not be enjoying the financial benefits of our reverse mortgage! Bob came to our home and discussed the plus and minuses of a reverse mortgage in plain, understandable english. When we decided to go ahead he walked us through the process and followed us on each and every step that we had to make. When everything was in order he got the final process started and explained each piece of paperwork that we signed. This bank has their representatives constantly calling veterans and their spouses and saying that they are from VA Lender Services wanting to talk to you about the VA s new loan programs, when they actually are aiming to transfer you over to their own company s mortgage loan officers to get you to refinance with their bank. Not to mention the mail they send to veterans houses is deceptive in that they make it look like a government or tax document and then put their banks name very small at the bottom. I do not think this is a very ethical way to get veterans business, and that these are deceptive marketing practices. I get about 4-5 calls a week from them at different phone numbers in different area codes. Not a good look.

November 4 2020:I am a Realtor, We are at 11 weeks now waiting for Federal Savings Bank to Approve a Loan. They ask for extensions, stating Covid Delays, High volume and Appraisal delay. They gave us a CTC and we set closing, then the day before stated they did not have a disclosure signed and need to reactivate the loan.( lender failure) Seller had to cancel movers, had days scheduled off and school set up, and postpone their closing. Buyer was on their way from another state. Now last week they state we have CTC, and 4pm the day before closing again, Stacy Brown Senior VP called the Buyers Agent, stating we are not CTC and are still in underwriting. They ask the Buyer AGAIN for the same document that was given in September. That was the last time we have heard from Federal Savings, per Buyers Agent, Stacy stated to Buyers Agent when she called last night, she does not have time to respond to the attorneys and agents. No one is calling anyone back. Seller is scheduled to close on their purchase at 2;30pm today and we cant even give them a reason, or if it will close. Again movers are at the Seller house loading up because their closing is at 9:30am today. Seller is moving an Hour and a half away and starts a new job tomorrow, now with no where to live. NO ONE at Federal Savings Cares, or is answering us. They have had the file for 11 weeks. If they can not close this, they should have know that 4 weeks into the process. I am putting a review up, so maybe someone will respond to the the file.

This is the second transaction I have done with Brian and both times it has been a pleasure working with him. The previous transaction was at a different bank, but Brian kept in touch with my Realtor. When I was looking to refinance and the current Mortgage company (Wells Fargo) was not able to provide me with competitive pricing, and I checked with my Realtor to see if she knew of anyone, Brian was the first she thought of. I had a great previous experience with Brian, so I was very open to reaching out to him to see what type of rates he could offer for my situation. The thing I like best about Brian is that he is very honest and straightforward. I let him know what my goals for the refinance were and he was able to tell me if he could meet those goals. There were a few glitches with the Support team, but part of this I think had to do with the initial application process and the portal where I was able to upload and complete documents. It would have been very helpful to have a Comments functionality in both of these locations so that my additional comments would have made it to both Brian and the Support group.Having said this, one of the other things Brian is great about is taking feedback and implementing it going forward. I am sure that some of the things I brought up have already been addressed.

Talk to Cedrick Burrows... Hell walk you through options and make you get incredibly comfortable. I talked to Ced after locking with another lender... It turns out, the other lender had everything screwed up and Ced basically educated the other guy! I canceled the other lender, went with Ced and locked our VA refi... Closed very quickly and painlessly.

1. Erika Shelton at The Federal Savings Bank charged us $625 for appraisal when it was only $450. 2. She told us we will get it back and we found out last week that was a lie. 3. She had us pay late four times and told us they will send us a cheque, that was a lie. We paid 2 of the late fees because we thought we will be getting the money back. We found out after we closed that was not true either. Nice, she was but it was all to get us to do the loan with her instead of USBank. I regret every time I wake up that I did the loan with her and her company. I was told the papers we signed is legal and emails we got from her are not legal. How can someone do that huh? I was happy to have gotten someone like her in the beginning stay away from her and this company. If you with them make sure to record every conversation incase get lied to then you will at least have prove.

I was called out of the blue to refinance my VA loan. It sounded good at a 3.75%, because I was over 5%. I had paid my loan down to under 180,000.00 dollars and as we were doing the paperwork, the loan got bigger and bigger. Finally the loan was all the way up to over 186,000.00 dollars. This is more than I originally borrowed the first time to buy the house. Well in this price was money to pay my property taxes for this year. I closed in October and before I could make my first payment, my loan was bought out by US Bank. The escrow that was transferred ti this bank was only a little over 500 dollars which would cover my home owners insurance, but not the property taxes. I called the broker and he said that my taxes had already been paid, they had not. It is now December the 11th and the money for my property taxes is no where to be found and US Bank had to cover the taxes. This has put my escrow account in the negative and it appears I have paid someone a bonus instead of my taxes getting paid. I really couldnt afford to pay my taxes twice, not many people can. By the time my mortgage payment is adjusted to cover this, it will not have paid for me to refinance at all. I now owe more than I originally borrowed and my mortgage payment will probably end up being higher. This is cheating and also shady. I am a disabled veteran that served ten years for my country and I have been lied to and they stole more than 1300.00 dollars from me. I hope the entire operation goes under. Please dont use this bank, they are crooks.

I would rate them zero stars if I could. Every week they send me a fake government notice. I called to have them stop but the rep kept pushing me to re-fi. They cant get me lower than I am already I bought points to get me below the rock bottom interest a year ago. I had to hang up because he was so pushy.

Just one negative -- the appraiser used by the bank was horrible. The best thing about the experience -- our mortgage broker, Shane Johnson, worked harder than any banker Ive previously worked with over the last 50 years. He is an excellent communicator, creative thinker, and went above and beyond in finding the best options for his customer. Hes proactive and aggressive and solves problems quickly and effectively. He knows his business comprehensively. Id recommend Shane to anyone any time.
