Let me start by saying, at the beginning things were great. I mean why wouldnt it be if you wanted to spend over half a million dollars on a house. Everyone wants that business right? Fast forward a couple months, offer in, offer accepted, closing date issued, etc. ONE DAY before closing it was pulling teeth to get anyone to communicate back to us, during crunch time. Then out of no where we were expected to bring another handful (not few) thousand dollars to closing. This was not talked about, nor mentioned or communicated at all. Thankfully we were able to figure it out and set everything in place so we could purchase our new home our two kids and us. After we spent the time and stress figuring that out, come to find out we didnt need at all (not communicated). Am I happy with our new home? Yes. Mortgage company, No. They need to learn communication, also if someone is on vacation, someone else needs to fill in. When buying a house, your clients cant wait for you to return from vacation. Come closing day, we were pushed out another 24hrs because they didnt have all their ducks in a row. Put different procedures in place for instances like this. A simple out of office, contact this person would be nice. Personally, I wont finance through Academy again, but I also wouldnt tell others not too. I wasted to much time doing their work for them.

We were working with our bank to get a loan originally, then our realtor suggested Academy Mortgage and things started going a lot smoother. Response times were within minutes instead of days. There were a lot more options for loans than with the bank, the bank only suggested one for us. We put offers on 3 other houses and got outbid but each time but Andrew was super quick to pull numbers for us everytime. They helped us through the whole process of buying our first home. We have already referred others to Academy mortgage and would recommend them to anyone looking for a home loan.

I rarely take the time to leave negative reviews. I had an overall bad experience with Tara at academy mortgage. 1. I feel as if I was coerced into taking out an investment loan vs a regular loan. My intentions around the property changes due to personal reasons. I agreed but couldn t help but feel like I was being accused of mortgage fraud which is not the case. 2. I made it clear that I wanted insurance and interest included in the payment, they messed up my CD and loan amount the day before closing and didn t include this. I had to be the one to herd cats and get it corrected. 3. THE DAY OF CLOSING while I was slammed at work with important meetings, I get a call from Tara that they messed up the amount I was supposed to put on the house by several thousand dollars. She acted as if I could drop everything to go get a check. I told her I was upset with the company and lack of professionalism and she blamed it on me. You as a consumer should also know the cash to put down. I am a VP of sales and I deal with contracts every single day. If I made a mistake I would never blame it on my customer. I followed your math, trusting you and your teams to be professional. I was clearly wrong. I agree this is a mutual fault but the unprofessionalism here is actually shocking. Especially when I m an exec in the middle of my work day, you messed up the CD 2x in 24 hours. I can t drop everything to appease you. To be fair - rates were decent. Customer service was the worst I ve experienced and this is my 4th home loan ever (3 purchases and a refi). As an investor and business person I will never work with this team again.
