We were a big fan of the fish here both cooked and raw. The slaw really complemented the poke and the marlin Mac was pretty good so we were glad we got the larger size. The service here was friendly and food was ready promptly. The server forgot our drink but upon asking it was handed over with no issue. We came at a great time where despite limited seating, we were able to find ourselves a table.

Spicy poke was excellent. Definitely had some kick to it! So if you aren’t sure if it’s going to be too spicy go traditional! The service was friendly and food came out quick. The pineapple slaw was a super good side for the spicy poke. Seating was limited but people seemed to be in and out quick so you won’t have to wait long!

This place sells some amazingly best poke on the island. The fish tacos is the catch of the day. It was Marlin for us. The tacos do shave a spicy kick, but the grilled Marlin was on point. They also sell poke by the pound.

There is a lot of great food an Maui and some awesome food trucks, but this place is one of the best! The fish is very fresh, the poke was awesome, and their spicy sauce was super flavorful. On top of that, the guys working there were very friendly and easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend checking them out!

Amazing food, some of the best weve had in Maui. Generous portions. Two stars down, probably should be more but I hope it was an exception, for the guy working there not giving the option to a person in our group to select tip percentage but selecting max percentage himself. Canadians are used to selecting tip prior to paying, not afterwards once they gave back the POS device.

When I searched for the best place to buy fresh fish on Maui to grill I was skeptical when it was suggested that this food truck was the go-to spot on the island but was happy it was conveniently close to where we were staying. My buddies and I came right before they opened and Jesse was so warm and eager to serve (turns out he and his cook were from the Seattle area like ourselves) so recommended we go with the Ahi & Ono. We ended up staying out later than anticipated on the other side of the island so decided to swing back here to grab some fish tacos to tide us over before preparing our own dinner later. I am not generally a big fan of fish tacos but I was blown away by how they used whole thick filets of fresh Ono & Ahi rather than just a skimpy amount of shredded meat. And I was going crazy for how mouth wateringly delicious it was, along with the slaw! And then our own filets of Ahi & Ono marinated and grilled up just right despite us not being very skilled on cooking such fish. Im grateful the hype is well deserved!

S. Maui Fish Co. is an absolute must try if you re in the area. The fish tacos are fantastic and very filling and the service was impeccable. Not only was the food ready quickly, the server behind the counter went above and beyond what I ve experienced during my time in Hawai i or just about anywhere else for that matter, and to me that makes all the difference in the world. This place deserves far more than just 5 stars.

We went there for dinner - around 7 (I think they close at 8). The food is good and the staff is friendly. We ordered two fish plates and two poke bowls. We got them in less than 5 min. The poke bowl is the winner - very tasty and the amount is good. If I have the chance I will return and eat there again. They take credit cards.

We found this place by searching great reviews, and it did not disappoint! From the freshly-caught giant portion of mahi that was grilled to order right in front of us (thanks, Blake!), to the tasty sauces and sides, to the cheerful and helpful service (shout out to Leyla!), we are hooked (get it?). We will shout this place from the rooftops, even back home in Seattle (where we also have great, fresh seafood)! Come here any time you get the chance!!!

Stopped here while on vacation and got the fish plate and tacos. Both were really good. The Cole slaw was fantastic that came with it. We also ordered the veggie macaroni and it was alright but not my favorite compared to everything else. Be aware that they grill with peanut oil if you have an allergy.

The best, period. We ve been going here for 4 years ever since getting a tip from a local. All praises to sing, no complaints. Everything is caught the day of, so it s incredibly fresh. My friend who normally hates tuna will only eat tuna from the South Maui Fish Company. It s just incredible food. If you don t know whether to choose between the traditional and spicy, get half and half! Thanks to Leyla (hopefully I spelled your name right) for helping us out!

Fresh fish paired with a fun and welcoming atmosphere. The owner was super helpful in making recommendations, and running through the various fish that they serve. The pineapple slaw was also excellent! Parking: Limited parking in the lot, but there s some street parking around the corner. Kid-friendliness: Our toddlers shared a grilled fish plate, which was plenty to go around.

Ate here three times in the 10 days on Maui. Everything was fresh and full of flavor from the first to the last bite. Fish tacos were on point ever-time, poke was fresh as F, and smoked marlin salad and ceviche were killer. We had the fish tacos because this youtuber recommended this food truck. The fish used was very fresh, but unfortunately the sauces and other filling used in the tacos are not anywhere close to authentic. Tasted quite Americanized and bland as a result.

First, This is not a kid friendly or family friendly location, please be advised. Weird vibes as well. Food was ok, nothing special. They only had Marlin at the time we ordered which wasn t very flavorful. Comes with little rice as well. Parking was very limited and hard to find. Came here on a recommendation and now I leave a recommendation for the internet! Got here at 11am on a Monday and there was already a bunch of groups patiently waiting for the open. 11:30 hits, and person at the register gave an awesome talk about the quality, freshness (all caught by them) and their favorite plates (the fish tacos and marlin) My wife and I ordered the 1/2 spicy + traditional ahi poke with a large tub of Mac salad. Truly amazing and some of the best I ve ever had. I just wish I had enough time on my trip to return, but I will make it back one day!

First stop in Maui was here. Food was on point. I got the popular half and half bowl where it contains half spicy ahi poke and traditional ahi poke, which was recommended by the cashier. With marlin Mac and rice. Everything was super good, along with marlin Mac which tasted amazing! I also got two freshly grilled ahi tacos. Tacos are a great size and will definitely fill you up. We purchased two pounds of super fresh fish here to grill at home. They came oiled and seasoned so all we had to do was throw them on the grill. It was so easy and, wow, so good! One of the best meals we had in Maui. ^ Since writing the original review, weve gone back every year! Weve had ahi, marlin, hebi, and mahi mahi in fish plates and fish tacos, and we bought more fish almost every time to cook at home. Its, hands down, the best place to get fresh fish on the island! I can t say enough good things about South Maui Fish Company! The poke bowl is the best poke I ve ever had. They catch and prepare the fish themselves. Jesse (I think he s the owner?) is incredibly friendly and has some of the best customer service. He did say the fish sells out quickly so I recommend going as close to opening as possible.

I will start by saying I don t like fish. But thanks to Brett a local guy we met at the beach we gave this place a try. He wasn t wrong the Marlin fish tacos were amazing. I should add he only serves what he catches (didn t catch the owner s name). The coleslaw was very good as well. I should have had a beer with it instead of a coke.

Best fish tacos on maui. The ahi was fresh. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. The pineapple slaw paired nicely with the fish. You get about 1/2# of fish. So price wise it is a good bargain. We went back 2 or 3 times, just so I could have fish tacos. Only downside is that they are messy and leave your hands covered in drippings.

You will not find a better poke on all of Maui! And these guys are SO nice. Get there right at 11:30 because the line can get long and once all of the freshies are gone, they close up!

Amazing fresh fish - poke, tacos and grilled fish. Also tried sauerkraut and Mac salad. Everything was superb. Also had the crinkle cookies which were unexpectedly equally delish. They start selling out before 1pm.

I will stop here every time I am in Kihei. The poke is some of the best Ive ever had, super fresh fish, friendly staff, and reasonable prices for what you get. Just dont wait too long because once the fresh catch of the day is gone, youre out of luck!

So very fresh. And so freaking good. Huge chunks of ahi. Had both traditional and spicy poke and both were mouth watering delicious. The pineapple cole slaw was so tasty too. 10/10 highly recommend. A definite must stop when staying in South Maui. Mahalo!!!

Were spending the week in Wailea and wanted to get away from the expensive and just OK resort restaurants. This place is legit. Amazingly fresh fish. The poke bowls come with rice and cole slaw which is great. Good sized portions and a reasonable price. After eating the poke bowl and chatting with the chef, we ordered a fish taco plate to share (2 tacos). Each taco comes with a huge piece of fish. Great flavor. Tough choice, but I think Id recommend the poke bowl. The spicy home made salsa was one of the better salsas Ive ever tasted and I eat a LOT of salsa. Its easy to get to, plenty of parking and has tables with umbrellas to eat on site. And the guys working there are very amiable and friendly. Id highly recommend trying this place. Most of the reviews I write dont tend towards the positive, but these guys deserve it....

Few things live up to the hype theyre giving. The Poke at this place not only lives up to it, it beats it. The hot and the original are great. My wife doesnt care for fish but will tolerate it kind of, she liked the Poke and said the fish taco was great. Seating is outside and limited but the food is worth taking to go if you have to. Parking: We parked at the strip mall and crossed the road.

Step aside Mamas, there s a new top dog in Maui. We absolutely loved South Maui Fish Company. The fish tacos completely dominated, along with the Mac salad. Please visit the best restaurant in Maui - no denying it.

Great food! Great company! We ordered the poke fish tacos and Mac salad. All was phenomenal. This place is a must when you visit Maui. My 8 year old daughter said the chicken was delicious

Super cool staff, poke completely melts in your mouth, spicy aioli is delicious, macaroni salad is fire... definitely a must-visit when in Maui! Arrive when they open though, they will sell out if you dont show early enough. 10 people in line 15 mins before opening!

We stopped here on our first day in Maui. We were lucky not to see a line. But we were told they close when they run out of fish everyday - not at 8 pm as the site says. Ordered mixed poke, fish tacos and fish plate. Huge fillet of fish in each taco. Neat little place to sit near the truck and eat. My favorite was their spicy poke and their special tacos.

We got literally the last bowl of the day and it was 12:15 pm. Line was very long behind us so I felt pretty bad. But the poke itself was quite delicious. The pineapple slaw was excellent. The flavor of the Tuna was great and the spice took it to the next level. A bit over priced but its Maui. Overall the spicy poke bowl was very good.

Feel like this place is overhyped. We got both the traditional and spicy poke, portions were small and the poke was very lackluster. This was our last meal before leaving Maui and it was just very disappointing.
