I have been a customer at Georgias Own Credit Union for over 30 years. I have always received outstanding customer service. I use the Marietta Branch. Last Wednesday I went to the to the bank for a cashiers check. Gabby was the young lady who assisted me. She was friendly, professional. and helpful. Gabby also gave me information on the Credit Unions CDs in case that I might be interested. I would like to thank Georgias Own Credit Union for having such an outstanding employee.

Wow! Leonard and Amanda helped us so much! We had to close our loan TODAY... but Atlanta traffic lol. We arrived at 4:00PM, at closing time. The absolute WORST!! My daughter went in to open a checking account and apply for an auto loan and was advised that she would be able to apply because they were getting ready to close in a few mins. The time was 3:45! The manager and he employee were extremely nasty!

How these people are in business is beyond me - paid off a vehicle 28 days ago and still the title has not been released. I have called multiple times and keep getting the run around as well as told they will be sending it that same day, and here we are 28-days later. Take your hard earned cash to a credit union that will care and work for you. Avoid this one at all cost.

Went to their website and was told through their portal I had an excellent chance of approval for the Visa credit card. They ran my credit, which appeared on my report, and then kept asking for additional documents left and right. As of August 5th, I sent documents requested over and never heard anything back. I signed up for a savings account to attach to credit card and now I m looking at closing it with how terrible they ve been compared to LGE Credit Union. Suggest taking your business elsewhere, especially if that s what you were looking to do.

Love the Marietta branch! Wish it was closer to Canton, but oh well. Im a huge fan of Carmen Cotton! She has helped me numerous times, and if she is in, I get a wave through her office window two offices away! If not on the phone, she always comes to the counter to say hi to me. Everyone does a great job at this branch. Wish I could name everyone, but I cant remember that many names! Ms. Cotton even replied to an email when she was on vacation. That is true customer service. That there were crying customers should have been my first clue... I was there to close my late fathers account. What I experienced was a miserable process from start to finish. One of the agents needed a complete attitude adjustment. She was nastier than my grandpas feet. Honestly, I dont know how they get customers nor keep them. After submitting to what felt like a full rectal exam, I was able to close the account more than 48hrs later... only to see (after having left) that they have misspelled my fathers name on the cashiers check. In my defense, I was heading out of town immediately after leaving there and the check was handed to me in a sealed, windowless envelope. So, I didnt see the error until the next day. I somehow feel like I should just be thankful there was actually a check for the correct amount in the envelope and take my chances on opening another account elsewhere. Seriously, I would rather pluck Donald Trumps ingrown pubes with my teeth than go back to this bank.

This location has always been the best in customer service. I talked with Carmen recently and she went above and beyond to assist me In getting a loan to purchase a car. She also walked me through the process and quickly got back with me on the approval and was there guiding me until I drove away with my vehicle. I have been banking with Georgia s Own for over a decade, and before that when it was Georgia Telco CU for several years added to that. I have always had excellent and professional customer service from their qualified staff which is much better selected than most commercial banks Ive used in years past. The web platform continues to progress in its development. This branch has been an asset in helping me start a business. When I have needed to get documents notarized, this branch provides a notary service that is invaluable. If I had known about their services years before, I would have switched to a community-oriented credit union like Georgias Own years earlier.

I just love this place! Everyone in my family has an account, including my 7 yr old. Teaching her about money and managing it has been fun for her. The staff there always make it an experience for her. Amanda and Tina are her personal bankers. I have been coming to Mariettas branch for over 25 years and have had very good experiences there. I am usually in and out with deposits or withdrawals without any issues. Recently I have had some interactions with the staff, especially Tomika. Tomika assisted me in opening a CD at the suggestion of a teller to make my money work for me while it was sitting there. Tomika opened the CD within minutes and was very pleasant as always. Thank you for the excellent service.

This review is long over due. I have been a customer at Georgias Own for over 20 years (even when we were once Georgia Telco). This branch by far is the most professional and personable group of individuals in the banking industry. In a time where things are trending to AI and virtual solutions, it is much appreciative to be able to walk into a branch and have everyone call you by name. Mrs. Carmen, Mr. Leonard, Tameka, Amanda, and the rest of the entire team are just amazing. Customer Service has become a thing of the past in our fast paced world, but not at this location. Mrs. Carmen and her entire team embody serving others, and always with a smile. So Georgias Own, whatever you do, please do not take Mrs. Carmen or Mr. Leonard away from this branch. If you do, it would be a great disservice to the community and Georgias Own. This team is a great representation of what CUSTOMER SERVICE should be at Georgias Own. I have been a member for some years, now. The tellers at the branch on Cobb Parkway are great. I ask them for $2 bills all the time and get them. Cool. My last trip into the Credit Union, I asked about getting an increase to my personal credit line, because I recently started a roofing business and things are finally picking up. I explained that I had not received my tax documentation for my S-Corp nor have I gotten Quickbooks setup for payroll, but these things are being handled by our accountant. Without the documentation the young lady could not help. Fine, understood. My gripe: Not 5 days after my visit to the Georgias Own, I received a letter in the mail from them saying that they WILL NOT be renewing my line of credit as of 05/31/2024. This made me super unhappy - obviously. It will be their loss. I was about ready to convert my business banking from Bank of America over to the credit union, but now I think I may have to seek other options. Seems as long as direct deposits are flowing in, theres never an issue. Cant prove on the spot - even with business license EIN and Department of State paperwork - I dont have employment on paper - so Im being ousted from Georgias Own. Amanda, with the beautiful eyes and gorgeous smile - I rate her 10-stars. She is always a pleasure to talk to. All of the front staff, even my man the security guard are great. BUT... Whoever deems me unworthy of membership and / or credit with the bank... I have no good words for them.

Visited the Marietta branch today, with my elderly Mom. Michelle was patient, kind and addressed every single concern and question that my Mom through at her. (Despite being little old lady Mom is a pretty tough and savvy client. Michelle was wonderful. Upon leaving my Mom commented that Michelle was not only nice but very smart. Update 5/7/24 A manager called me back the following week to fix the issue at hand and was able to complete what I went up there to do. Unfortunately, all that work went in vain because again a couple staff members assisting me didn t do their due diligence. It was an extremely backwards process. I thought what was already a poor experience was going to get better but instead it got worse and I m so baffled at how they handle their process and how I wasted so much time for nothing. GOCU needs an all around company wide training and reconstruct processes so they don t waste peoples time. If there was an option for 0 stars it would be the choice of this experience. I would have appreciated after speaking to 6 different employees and an email that I was told the correct information before I wasted my time going up there and accomplishing nothing. GOCU needs a company wide compliance training and knowledge check afterwards. Terrible experience.

I love coming to my branch. I have my personal and business accounts with them. Usually, I have to do multiple transactions when Im here. I am also a fast talker as well. But the staff here takes care of everything I need done, and its always spot on. I saw Amanda today, since I went inside. I had multiple transactions and needed a new card. They do frequently have new staff and training slows the transaction but they handle as well as possible. Unprofessional and most rude staff I have ever encountered at a bank. Every other bank including small credit unions I have been to have been able to cash a check via drive thru this one is incapable as well as requiring two forms of ID. Both of which could be more accommodating to guest. I closed my account a few years ago from the lack of courtesy from staff up front. Although, I had to return to cash a check to my surprise nothing has changed since covid. Very disappointing and will continue to lose clients like myself this way.

Im in the lobby getting a replacement debit card. I was just told there is a $5.00 replacement fee.... This is another reason I dont use this account here as much. Been with them over 20 years, 0 moments of aggravation. Remarkable. Mobile App works like a charm. However, this location is no longer manned on Saturdays. Have had my GO vi card here, for almost as long. And Fraud Detection has been effective. Fair APR, easy payments via App, Transfer function. I havent had to call for human assistance in years. Because my direct deposits, Transfer, and e-check Bill Pay functions work well.

Really unfortunate - this used to be a great alternative to the large bank mentality. Unfortunately GA s Own recently changed their online banking. The upgrade is horrible. The bank takes down online banking without proper notice to customers leaving customers without banking privileges for day and weeks. I also was forced to take out insurance on a loan (thought it was optional) to find it was indeed optional despite the GA s Own employee telling me it was mandatory and requiring extra payments on the loan needlessly. I plan to log a complaint with the BBB over the employee that required me to sign up for insurance, hoping I can get the money that was basically stolen from me back. I should not be responsible financially for an employee that lied and stole from GA s Own/its customers. When I spoke to another employee, I found out the individual that lied to me was no longer w the credit union. I was told I was lied to and that I would not get my money back. I m still logging a complaint w the BBB because it s just wrong to cheat people out of their money!

A.Total.Nightmare.Beware! Been banking with Gas Own CU since 1998. This was back when it was Telcos CU. It is time to close the books with these guys. They have ruined the automatic bill pay interface with their recent upgrade (11/2022). Their new system has dropped the auto bill payment causing no payments to go through. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The employees in the bank are okay but the branch as a whole is absolutely garbage. Making payments or talking to member services is awful to connect with. I currently bank with other credit unions and they are much easier to navigate and to actually talk to someone on the phone with. Ive had more issues the last 5 years with Georgias own than Ive had with 2 other credit unions in the last year. I do not recommend doing services or banking with Georgias own. Beware

If you are wanting a loan, DO NOT go here. You CANNOT setup external transfers into your account to make a payment. This means you would have to go to the branch every month, with either a check or cash in hand to pay. Their portal does not allow setting up of external ACHs. The call center customer service said they are unable to make payments and/or setup any external transfers. Its remarkable that they do everything in their power to refuse people that are trying to make payments.

It has been extremely difficult to get through to any operator for this bank. I was inconvenienced by having to come back to the bank because the systems were having problems the previous day. Then as I tried to set up my new card, the card servicer is not allowing me to set the card up that this branch issued me. I ve never had this type of issue to occur at the other branches with something as simple as replacing a bank card.

The customer service my husband and I have experienced has been an absolute nightmare. He has been with the bank for 12 years and is being talked down to, talked over, and his loan officer is literally never available to to complete the simple task of getting the boat loan he applied for. Not to mention, I just spoke with another representative that told me our loan officer had the information needed and would be calling my husband shortly, for the loan officer to then email my husband and say she never got the information she needed. So now we have moved onto just simply lying territory. It is very disheartening and frustrating to sit on hold and hear how easy it is to get a boat loan when we have been waiting for over a week and nothing is completed because the loan officer is never in the office when we call and no one else will help us just complete this task. You people are wasting your customers time and you show absolutely no care for your job. I will be leaving reviews in every possible place letting people know how poorly this place is being run and for people to not waste their time and energy with this bank.

My husband took off early from work to make our car payment in person, so we would not have to pay the fee to pay over the phone, arrived there 5 minutes before closing time. There was someone else at the ATM, so by the time he withdrew the money for the payment they locked the door without saying a word. At the drive-thru they also refused to take the payment. This is most definitely NOT a customer oriented approach.

I received an extremely low apr (the best rate I found) for my auto loan. I came into this branch at 5:15pm on a Friday, but I was not confident I could recieve help as it was so late in the evening. I was certain Id have to wait until Monday to purchase my dream car. However, Michelle was there to help. She went above and beyond to help me receive a check on Friday: working until 6pm to ensure there were no errors in the paperwork and the amount was correct. Her patience and willingness to help on a Friday afternoon was exemplary. Michelle made my first experience at Georgias Own and first purchase of a vehicle an extremely positive first-class experience. I will be recommending her, this branch and Georgias Own to friends and family.

Georgias own need to improve their customer service. I was on hold 15 minutes before being offered the option of a call back.. Shantel returned my call approx.45 min. later. Her tone while speaking with me was not professional ,and she was not helpful resolving the issue I called about. She said she would transfer me to someone who could better assist me. But ,instead she placed me back on hold and I had to start all over again after being put on hold. Not a single good experience. Ordered an ATM card through the mail because my branchs hours were inconvenient. Card never came even after complaining twice. When I complained the 3rd time, they told me to go to the nearest branch (genius) instead of waiting for the mail. After finally receiving the card, I was charged a $5 replacement fee for losing the card that I never got. Find another local bank. It isnt worth your time.

I highly suggest for anyone especially a student not to bank with Georgias Own. They will always charge you unnecessary fees that will overdraw your account then charge you a $35 overdraft fee. At the time I didn t have the money in my checking account, but I did have it in my savings. So instead of them just taking the money out my savings they took what was owed and then charged me $35 overdraft fee, and a $6 overdraft protection fee. Which I know I never signed up for when I was opening my account. I was like a dollar and some change short for what I needed to pay. It s already difficult enough that I have to pay for my tuition, books and fees. Now I have to deal with a bank stealing money from a college student. I am closing my account from now on and taking my business elsewhere. Never bank with Georgia s Own.

Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT bank with Georgias Own Credit Union. Today was the last straw with the unfunctional customer service. So lets start with the first problem being, the branch location numbers are hidden. There is no way to contact branch locations before actually going there, so there is no way to even verify the simplest of services are available, such as the branch being open at all or the coin machine working. So eventually, I was able to get a number for the Marietta Branch location so the next time I would be able to call directly, right? Wrong! Several calls just lead me to a voicemail. So i wait on the main hold line for over 30 minutes, and finally reach someone who tells me THEY CANT VERIFY IF THE CHANGE MACHINE IS WORKING. Thats right, they literally DONT have the ability to contact anyone at the branch and verify this extremely simple question before I drive 15 miles to the location. She says shes the overflow and that she needs to send me back to the main hold line, where ive been now waiting for about 45 minutes for a simple question. I honestly dont think ill even get an answer before the branch is closed. This is an example of one of MANY issues Ive had with customer service. Read the other reviews and youll get the message that my experience is far from uncommon, completely impersonal, rude, and apathetic reactions are what you can expect when you finally reach someone. I once had a customer service rep HANG UP ON ME after telling me the overdraft fee I reveived wasnt a mistake and she wouldnt refund it. After waiting another 30 minutes on hold, i was able to get in touch with someone who was able to verify it was an error and reverse the charge. Good that it finally happened, but i had to wait over an hour and be told that Im wrong in a rude fashion before it could be fixed. Im still waiting for anyone to answer me about the coin machine, been an hour and five minutes now and Im still waiting, despite going through the entire hold line once and being told that the information was unavailable to the person I reached. I honestly wont be surprised if someone finally does answer and tell me they cant help me either. After 6 years I will be swiftly closing my account as Ive just had enough. My friends have reccomended LGE credit union to me after i told them about the BS, hopefully they are better. Again.... DO NOT BANK WITH GA OWN CREDIT UNION!!!

Policies are not customer friendly at all and your banking relationship has no meaning there any longer. The purpose of a credit union over a bigger bank is that relationship. They used to be a great bank but now they are a disaster. We have our home mortgage with them and we pay our property taxes directly and have home owners insurance that we have sent them proof of over 4 times since August yet they went ahead and bought insurance for us because they said we dont have it and set up an escrow account. Now they are attacking our credit over this issue that is entirely their fault. I keep getting assured that it is taken care of when it is not. When I asked about them taking care of the credit issue they caused they said that I have to take care of it myself. I am filing a complaint with the federal reserve over this.

30+ year member here. They used to be great but not so anymore. Products are fine - checking, etc. - but as theyve grown, merged, etc. theyve followed the path of big banks and now have horrible customer service. For instance, theyve intentionally made it impossible to contact a branch directly before driving there. Often find out that it is closed despite what website, Google Maps info, etc. says or services differ from what is listed. Its nice that they have change counting machines - if they would only be in service which they often are not. But cannot call in advance to see if working. The membership service phone system is unusually bad as they make it incredibly frustrating to reach an actual human. The online apps, websites, are okay - not great - but just try to actually deal with them in person or on phone. My experiences are now consistently bad instead of aspiring to delight the customer/member. Theyve substantially narrowed the differences between a good credit union and just another bank. I now dread having to deal with my credit union. Sad to say this since I am a long-term believer in credit unions. Heads up, Georgias Own. People do notice. And they tell other people. Lots of them.

I have been with Georgias Own for a very long time. I even recommended them to my mother and she joined. However within the past couple of years the quality had declined dramatically. The first situation was when I visited the branch to make a withdrawal and handed the teller, via the drive-up banking, my license. The teller returned my withdrawal without my license stating that I never handed it to him. I spoke with the branch manager and even called the police. How did I withdraw money without a license was the first question asked. My license was never recovered and the teller was not investigated. The second scenario was more recent where there was fraud on my debit card and as we know typically when that occurs, a dispute is submitted and the institution applies a temporary credit. Well no one wanted to apply the temporary credit. I was bounced from member services to disputes and back multiple times without resolve. I had to wait 10 DAYS for them to research and resolve before getting my money back. My advice is to STAY AWAY!!!! They seem to care nothing about their members.

Ive learned to check behind them. I made a withdrawal once but when I arrived at my destination no money was in the envelope. I returned to the bank. They said they had to do a money count to see if they were over. So finally the teller gave me my cash. On another occasion I got to my destination they did not put my license or member card in envelope. Ive learned to check my envelope before driving away from the window.

This outfit has, on two separate occasions, enrolled me in programs with monthly fees without asking my permission. The tellers at this credit union are always professional and nice. Although, Mrs. Cotton can come off abrasive she is very nice and seems to care about the business customers. Youll get the real deal with her and will not be set up for the okey dokey. However, the one star is in reference to MR. WES. I came to him in tears due to the shock and humiliation of being a victim of a scammer. I explained to him very clearly and in detail the reason for my visit and the resource behind it. He presented himself as a caring individual and informed me to notify him once I was able to reach a representative in the fraud department, which took a considerable amount of time so, that he can speak with them. Finally, I reached them, returned back into the bank and he took the call, but uncomfortably out in the open. In addition, he completely misrepresented what I communicated by stating to the fraud credit card department the reason for my visit when I had already told him. Then, he rudely tells the agent Well tell her that and hands me back my phone in an annoyed fashion. At this time, I informed him that I do not want people in my business and can we talk elsewhere. He obliged. In privacy I told him how I felt he misrepresented what I told him as if I wasnt being honest. He then states he just wanted to hear their side. There was no side. It was a straight forward recommendation. I, personally will never have any business interactions with him on any level. He came off very synthetic and pulled the rug from under my feet.The worse part is that when he got on the phone he made absolutely NO ATTEMPT OF ANY KIND to TRY to help me as he said he would do. Even if they rejected his attempts I would have been fine, because at least he tried. He couldnt care less about me nor the situation. I took a loss, learned a valuable lesson thus is life ( unfortunately). It sucks, but I appreciate Mrs. Cotton.

Wes Brasher is the manager at this branch and he stepped in when he saw we were waiting; helped us with an auto loan which I don t even think is his department. Stay away from these thieves at all costs. They literally put an 11 day hold on a payroll check. Not a personal check. They have zero warning that my tent money would be unavailable for this length of time and cost me tongs in late fees. Terror warming on deposit days it might be up to 2 days... Not 11. Now they are claiming that it takes them that looking to verify that the funds are actually available, on a payroll check from a fortune 300 company written on a major bank check (not a hand written personal check). These are either thieves, or they are so incompetent that they cannot do simple ach verification with major banks. Do yourself a favor and run as fast and far from these low life thieves as you can. It is true that the drive-thru can be slow, but Ive noticed that the customer in front of me tend to not have their paperwork ready or their license or whatever. The Cobb branch is very convenient. And, if you need to withdraw money, they have an ATM. Also, you can use Presto at Publix to get cash out with no fees attached, which is great. I dont use the coin counting machine personally, but its never NOT worked when Ive been in there because it is so loud IMHO. Everyone is very personable and willing to help. I understand that my situation my differ from other people, so hopefully the service improves for those people. Credit unions offer better (though small) savings rates and lower APRs than most banks. Very pleased with how they operate.

This credit union works well when your needs are minimal - personal checking, savings, online banking, deposit paper checks using my phones camera. When I call customer service, I usually feel as though I am being rushed off the phone. Their reps must be on a timer that tells them when they need to end the call. Also, phone reps do not share current Georgias Own procedures readily. I need to do my homework before calling since they wont go out of their way to be helpful. I bank with them because I just need someone to hold my money while I pay my bills.

The hours are inconvenient. They should be open until at least 5pm daily for customer service questions. Also, I often encounter difficultly being able to speak with a representative, and end up being sent to voicemail.
