Don’t go here I had the worst experience ever!!!!! They are slow and they cause me and my family to lose a brand new house because they were not doing their job!!! They had to run my credit twice because our approved letter expired because they were slow. Then on my other house they keep moving my closing date which was cause me to take unnecessary days off from work and not being able to go to school. It took a long time to close when we were ready and they don’t have good communication skills. Do yourself a favor and find another lender who wants your business and not waste your time and money!!!!!

Working with Bobby Vaughn has been the worst experience of my life. I purchased a home 3 years ago and everything was perfect. I d say this process was handled in the worst possible way. I told Bobby and my real estate agent that I wanted and needed a certain number to make this work. Bobby informed me that he could make that happen, then 4 days before closing completely changed the numbers and treated me like an idiot. I can see why real estate professionals have such a bad name. This company has caused me to lose $4000.00 and nobody has taken accountability for their actions.

As a first time homebuyer, I was given such an amazing experience. What is usually stressful was made very easy and Stephanie was able to get me through the process step by step. If I could give HOMESTAR more stars, I would. I originally started my loan application with another lender and with about 2 weeks left to close, the previous lender started trying to raise my rates and add unfounded fees. If I could give HOMESTAR more than a five star rating I absolutely would! Alisha and Ansley are top notch. These ladies are professional, prompt, and very knowledgeable. If you need a home loan closed they are definitely your go to. The Dave Stallings team was absolutely THE BEST from the beginning to the end of the process it was such a joy to work with this team! First off, I would highly recommend using Stephen Shields with the Stallings team. Stephen was an absolute delight to work with. I am a Realtor and work closely with a lot of lenders and banks. From a realtors perspective Stephen did an incredible job through the entire process. We worked with a first time home buyer and Stephen was in the mix with the buyer and I the whole way. Very responsive, easy to get a hold of and on top of it from the get go. If you want a great experience with a top lender in the industry call Stephen!

Steven was a God send for me and my family at a time where we were denied funding (FROM PREVIOUS LENDER NOT HOMESTAR)and lost our earnest money. He is very responsive and knowledgeable! Anything that we had a question about, 2-3 ppl answered it, then called us to make sure it was clear. They understand how to help you through the process. I think my situation was a different kind of situation because we was not planning to purchase but we choose to instead of renting again. I would say working with Homestar, was exciting yet a nervous experience. Nervous in a good way, because your anxious to know the next steps within the buying process. Any questions that I had was answered though by Stephen Shields. He went above and beyond to make sure that I understood everything regarding documents needed and why, he was able to get me lending credits at close and was able to get me to closing without any issues. The process might seem long in the beginning but it is really not, once you have been pre-approved, the process is pretty much smooth sailing from there. I have purchased my first home, with Homestar, and it was great to have ease of access to the lender when I needed it, the branch manager David Stallings would even answer the phone when the business was supposed to be closed, for their after work line. My realtor Ericka Stoxstell recommended Stephen and Homestar to me, after I was having difficulty finding the right lender, I am glad she did.

I personally do not do reviews but I HAD to come and do one about my experience with Homestar. It was by far the best experience I have ever had , from the moment I contacted the loan officer (Stephen shields ) to begin my application process to the day of closing . I had other lenders but I ultimately stuck with Homestar because Stephen shields was so attentive and answered allll of my questions . I was nervous about the process because it is a huge decision but on the other hand I have never felt so comfortable making a big decision in my life. But I can honestly say its all thanks to Stephen , everything was done quickly as well as correctly. He always kept me posted on everything , I really would recommend anyone to go with Homestar especially Stephen shields sorry for keep saying his name but he was that good. So grateful to have been working with him !

I can honestly say that the communication has been one of the best experiences Ive had with any company. It doesnt matter if its before during or after hours someone will respond to your questions. May 4, 2021, until first week of June I had only been contacted by David Stallings group via phone twice. The first time was May 24,2021 only after contacting the group multiple times&being advised that, I ll leave a message&have them call you back or just put thru straight to voicemail&leave a voice message with no response to date.I was finally able to get in contact with another homestar team branch manager, just to get an update&find out what was going on before May 28, which was the initial closing date. There was numerous emails sent to Patty Curtis, in which Lance Alexander and David Stallings Group received&never responded. It was not until different branch manager was contacted that I started getting weekly updates.Only 2x Lance Alexander was able to help me which was May 24&May 27th.I have received 7 View/Sign Loan Estimate to sign via e-document. The initial interest rate was at 3%,that I had signed dated May 5th, then received another loan estimate on June 2nd stating 3.6%.I was given no advisement of this dramatic rate change, nor should the rates have changed for 30days. This almost a $5,000-$10000 difference from the rate agreed in the contract agreement.My initial closing was May 28th&I had everything turned in&signed before w/the interest rate locked at 3%. There was no default on my end of this process. I called&attempted to speak with Stephanie Vaughn briefly on June 2,2021,who I discovered then was handling the mortgage loan operation. She consistently interrupted me as I was trying to tell her the situation. She continuously stated We need those documents to be signed . When I asked about the reasoning for the closing date(s) being moved again by the mortgage group and concern about possible builder fees for not closing as scheduled, Stephanies response was YEAH you ll have to call the builder and you may have to pay the fees . I turned in all the documents and signed everything the day of my initial closing was May 28th & I did not receive any information of postponement. Only when I had contacted another Homestar Branch manager for information on May 24 was then finally given an update call from Lance Alexander in which he stated I needed to get a guarantee of my offer letter from my employer and the closing date would have to be extended. I had handled it and was sorted out by May 26th but was notified for the first time on May 27th with Weekly Loan Update with extended agreement of June 4 then told that underwriter approved my future income letter and it looks good.June 3rd, I received an email of the closing date changing to June 7th with no reason provided. Notification 1 day prior to closing without reason unacceptable.I was able to reach out to the person above Stallings Team Friday June 4th only to be shown that he had brushed me off back to David, being told Handle this and which then David brushed me off to Alecia. She just kept saying I m sorry I m new on this case any time she did not know the answer. Nothing was done & putting it on me & the underwriter &that she would go over the case more briefly and would contact me either Monday June 7 or Tuesday June 8(NO NOTIFICATION). I got a automated email with homestar on June 7th on update that stated the closing date was changed yet again to June 9th. I contacted again a different team manager with Homestar& then was told that underwriter is not accepting my future income letter(was told it was going to be used)&I needed a co-signer&closing would have to get pushed back again. The next day June 9th I got multiple emails from the builder company that they were ending my contract due to the notes Homestar put stating that I could not afford the home and did not have the income provided, I had enough&should have left during the 1st red flag when the sellers agent knew more about what was going on than me as well as knew about my finances. I was able to close with in 2 weeks with a different mortgage company.

I worked with Jimmy (Douglasville, Church Street office) during my loan process and he was supportive and responsive every step of the way. He always made sure I received answers to all my questions. The process was a bit stressful but looking back I realize now how quickly we got done. 7 weeks from pre-approval to closing. That time includes us finding a home! I felt Jimmy was with us every step of the way. I highly recommend him.

DO NOT use Homestar. My husband and I have had the worst experience with Lance. First let me say that there was NO customer service. He did not reply to e-mails or phone calls. When we started the process, there was no phone call from him to welcome us or introduce himself. My husband was told he qualified for a USDA loan but when we were told they needed family income we had questions. He was NOT knowledgeable in regards to myself being self-employed and what would be needed as proof such as a certified P&L. Our answer was crickets, no response. To me, the lack or professionalism and decency to return phone calls is what keeps consumers happy and Homestar failed on many levels. Lastly, we will be reaching out to Liberty Homes to stress our dissatisfaction and hope that they will reconsider using them as their preferred lender.

Very disappointed in Home Star financial. We started working with them to purchase a home and then out of the blue our phone calls were not being returned. We even tried to email multiple times with no response. It has been 2 weeks since we have been able to speak with the guy who started the process with us. We were really excited to start this journey and start it with a local business. I will not recommend homestar financial to any family or friends who are trying to buy a home in the Douglasville area.
