Two of my co workers informed me about NACA.. For quite some time I’ve browsed the web site while looking at properties. Now that I’m ready to purchase a home I decided to give NACA a try. Im currently going through the NACA program as a first time Home Buyer/Investor. In 2023 one of my coworkers mentioned how her and her mother both used NACA to purchase their homes in Gwinnett County Georgia. After looking into the program I signed up for the homebuyer virtual workshop. I was able to even have my mother and friends sign up for the virtual workshop in their area Illinois and Arizona. I just entered a lease and was in no rush to purchase but I was ready to become prepared for it, Andrea Haqq was my initial counselor and gave me all the steps to become ready. Now I am working with Tamika Calhoun and she has gotten me to the next steps of homeownership. This process has truly been seamless, you just have to be prepared to keep your file updated with all the information requested. I am beyond elated there is a program like this which takes the guesswork out of homeownership. I wish more individuals knew how awesome this program is and took the initiative to do the work and become a homeowner. The housing market and economy are so unpredictable but the American Dream is homeownership, NACA makes that dream a reality.

Updated Review-There were multiple items I didnt like about NACA, eg, constant communications issues w/ my counselor, portal gilches, excessive/redundant documents upload, mandated reviews, mandated member participation (4X a year) etc. But what caused me to terminate my membership after becoming qualified was when NACA capped my mortgage loan at only $216,000 w/ a max monthly payment of $1553 on 12/22/2022. Even with me having an excellent credit score & excellent profile. The mortgage terms are great and the interest rate I was quoted on this date of 5.5% is great. However, in todays housing market the above max loan & monthly payments are obsolete & insufficient. When I requested that all of my personal financial information (account numbers,etc) be deleted from the system, I was told it cant be deleted because the information is in a database & they can only make it inactive. I recommend Bank Of Americas- Americas Home Grant Program w/ $7,500 in closing cost credit. Also, in select cities they also have a down payment credit program of 3% of the purchase price or $10,000-which ever is less & you may be able to combine the two programs! I dont recomment NACA! Best Wishes! Update: Cons-As stated above, the Bank Of America loan terms are the best I found, however, you will have to pay income tax on the downpayment, which increased my total income tax for this year! Pros-With the downpayment from BOA, you will owe less on the house!

UPDATE: Its been a year now, still no house but I am still searching. Changed real estate agents, lost three contracts and I am STILL trying... I visited during the HBW workshop and got all my documents together. They scheduled me for the first intake meeting a month later but prior to the meeting I visited the physical location in Decatur and met Tenecia. She was at the HBW workshop and recognized me. We talked and she assured me that the process and even prayed with me. She was WONDERFUL! Looking forward to the process.

I found out about NACA on Youtube and I was amazed by all of the benefits that this program provides, such as a lower than market interest rates, no down payment, no closing costs, and no PMI. I would not recommend NACA to anyone that is looking to purchase a Home as a first time buyer. Counselors (well mine) were not helpful. Supposedly I have 2 different counselors after my 1st one quit. Both don t return emails or calls. Pathetic.

Amazing program with an amazing team! When I came to the Atlanta event, I was thoroughly impressed with how things were conducted. The classrooms were well thought out and very organized as to how it flowed throughout the day. I met some incredible people who were truly there to help me get into a home. I was pre-approved on the spot and I m looking forward to our continued relationship!

It is tedious work, but the counselors are so dedicated to this business that they will take the time to explain what needs to be done. Hello I have been interested in purchasing a home for quite some time now and I have to say that NACA has been helpful and also very informative throughout the process. I had so many unanswered questions and the Homebuyers Workshop answered almost every question I had! I bought my first home through NACA. They counseled and helped me through every step of the way. It took some time to get all my paperwork in order but it was well worth it! I recently attended a Naca event with my partner a couple of weeks ago. We went through a whole process but it was fun. We first went through the initiation meeting and watched videos learning about Naca. Then we went to immediately fill out our document and spoke with our counselor Dwayne. I m not sure if these are paid actors in the reviews but I wanna break it down the way it really is when you go to their workshop. And especially if you are an independent contractor. Meaning you re a 1099 self-employed individual. You spend three hours listening basically to nothing without being offered water or snacks. Then next you spend another couple hours trying to upload docs and complete your application. Next finally you re told that because your bottom line on your tax return, I.e., your line 31 on your schedule C isn t enough that it s a no. This is something they could ve given you a heads up on their website. This is not a program for the underdog if the underdog doesn t have real money. I pay over $1700 a month in rent. How is it according to the way they do their calculations that I can t afford a mortgage. Additionally if my line 31 was where they wanted it to be, meaning if I didn t claim my self employment expenses on my tax return, where was I going to get the money to cover a large tax bill. It s a lose lose situation for the small business self employed independent contractor. I walked away from that sham of a conference with nothing and with all my personal information left in their servers. I wasted an entire day and lost out on making money dealing with their farce of a program. I left there tired and worn out with no care from this program that I spent an entire day that could ve been avoided by providing a person with more information beforehand. But they claim they care about people.

I embarked on this journey at the beginning of March when I attended my first workshop. Once I received my member ID, I didn t waste anytime getting the initial documents submitted into the portal the same day. As you enter into the process, I recommend making sure you set aside the time to complete the initial tasks in order to get an appointment with a counselor sooner rather than later. Thankfully, once I completed submitting the initial documents, I was able to schedule an appointment for about 3 weeks later. My intake session with my counselor, Ms. Natalie, was very informative. We went through my files, outlined the action items I needed to complete before my next appointment, and I was able to ask all the questions I had prepared. It was a great first meeting, I feel like I m in good hands and looking forward to continuing the journey to homeownership with the support, resources, and guidance from NACA.

The NACA program gas been a game changer in the home buying industry, especially for underrepresented groups. There are numerous benefits for first time home buyers anywhere in America. Though the application is a bit tedious, it is well worth the long term benefits. Its easy to hop on their workshops to learn about the program works and how it could benefit you. Its a shame that not too many know about it and are taking the difficult path to buying their first home. I attended the first NACA workshop in December and have been working with my counselor since January 2024. He has been timely and straightforward guiding me through the process. We expect for my qualification to happen in May of 2024; after which time Ill be able to attend the Purchase Workshop and find a home. I am thankful to have found a program that will help me do what would be extremely difficult to do on my own. I have nothing but positive things to say about NACA. Its important to submit your documents and make the Shock Savings each month. If you can do that, youll be on your way to a new home. I hope more people can be helped by NACA. Its a great program!

I heard about NACA over the years but never really thought about purchasing a home on my own. Even though I started the process a year ago meeting all of the qualifications, there has not been any movement. Counselor changes, cancellations, and never ending hoop jumping. I gave up twice thinking that it was a scam because I qualified through a bank twice but kept getting beat out on offers due to so many investors buying up properties. There is a face-to-face-event coming up later this month so I ll give it one more try. Will update review after event.

UPDATE I finally closed on the house, but there were so more downs then ups. They dropped the ball so many times. Writing the first review with 5 stars is literally part of the process. My counselor changed so many times. People dont seem to stay with the company, every 2-3 months the person that was suppose to be helping me left. Its a real sugar honey ice tea show if ur ready to be a homeowner, but may not have $20-$30k for a down payment. Meaning u have the credit, work history, no evictions etc etc, but just dont have the down payment (we had about $8k), its really a hard process because of the turnover off employees. Our paperwork was submitted because we supposedly didnt have something, but Everytime except once, I had the document that I had already sent. I had to update the same documents numerous times because of all the confusion of all these different counselors. It was very frustrating that at the end of every meeting I was being told what I needed for next time, and they were always things I already had and most of the time submitted. I started telling the counselors at the beginning of the meeting I want to know what u need right now, I dont want u to tell me at the end, I just want u to submit my paperwork to the underwriter. I was ready to go another route, because the first time my paperwork was submitted it came back rejected because of my so called work history. I had been with this company about 3 years at the time but had recently gotten a promotion. My start date of that promotion was only 8 months old. They rejected me because they said I didnt have enough work history, (as I stated was with the company for about 3 years, and then the previous company). They said my start date from the promotion to my previous employment was too big and I needed at least 2 years of steady employment. (Thats was a big ball that was dropped) I started writing the president, and directors, even with that it still took me another 4-5 months to have my paperwork resubmitted and of course it was approved. I spent a lil over a year just trying to get my paperwork submitted the first time because we were ready. We had been approved by banks for loans, but we just didnt have the cash that we needed to put down, this is why I was so sure that if I could just get our paperwork submitted that we would be approved. Appointments were 3 months apart, and sometimes the counselor wouldnt show up or they would cancel day of and it didnt matter that u waited 3 months u still had to wait another 3 months. It took me 7 months before I met with a counselor and that wasnt even our regular counselor it was an achieve the dream counselor and thats get approved in one day (we werent quite ready the first meeting, naca does go above and beyond to make sure u do get approved. They do cross every t and dot every I, but too many hands and notes end up on ur file and thats where things start getting messy). It took almost 2 years, yes 2 years LONGER then it needed to. From my meeting in the church to learn about the program and close took almost 3.5-4 years. (After the meeting in the church I didnt speak to a counselor, until almost 7 months later. I spoke with a receptionist who told me my first appointment was cancelled, and that my next appt that person was no longer with them) This could be an amazing program if they had organization and committed employees. I swear I wanted to work for NACA just to help people especially like myself. I think if u need to build credit, and need help being financially responsible and what to be a homeowner, this would be a great program, because it will hold you accountable and every few months you would have to show proof that you are staying on track. If you are not looking to be a homeowner in the next few months or even within the year then this could work for u. I started the process in 2020 then paused it due to covid . However while going thru the pause I ve worked on reducing lots of debt which helped me tremendously. The naca process overall seems to be tedious yet the counselors are very knowledgeable. They inform you of everything you need and what needs to be done to prepare and become naca qualified. Ironically, she is the same person who did my initial class, and I was silently hoping that she would be the person I connect with, simply because she was so knowledgeable. Im learning a lot more about budgeting my finances, and really seeing where my money is going month-to-month has been eye opening. The preparation before the promise is setting me up for success. I really do appreciate what NACA is doing to help me with my goal of home ownership.
