First we tried through the website. After going on 3 days there is still no confirmation. So now we have been on the phone over 30 minutes. The representative is trying to help (I think) but doesn't sound like he knows what he is doing. Just; WOW. More to come if this fiasco continues.

ABSOLUTELY WORST BANK. Do not come here! There is NOTHING of benefits with this bank. No interests in your account and absolutely garbage of customer service. I’ve been a member for 10 years and the ONLY time I have ever gone negative in my account, they took $35 without letting me know it was negative. And when I asked for it back, they declined. So in the 10 years I was a good customer, that didn’t mean anything to allow me the ONE time I made the mistake? Absolutel trash company. I can’t wait to close my account.

GTE FINANCIAL performed a "HARD CREDIT PULL" of my credit report. As a new member, I wanted to sign up for a checking account.
(NOT A LINE OF CREDIT)
If I would have know that GTE FINANCIAL would be performing a "HARD PULL"
(rather than a "SOFT PULL" like 99% of banks), I would have NEVER opened the account!
ALL BANKS specify that they need to "VERIFY" any applicant's background by performing a check, but this is almost ALWAYS a "SOFT PULL" (Almost NEVER a hard pull)
I wish the application page would at least STATE THIS CLEARLY or HIGHLIGHT what GTE FINANCIAL is about to do.
I worked hard to get my credit up over 800 & this does not help. I am infuriated.
I would have never ever have opened this checking account had I known that.
I'm guessing I'm stuck for the next two years, now!

The biggest unprofessional thieves in USA. I had a very bad experience with them. That clowns charged me 23 times with 35 usd for overdraft payments and I had a lot of money in my deposit account. They are ordinary thieves. Stay away from them. Almost forgot something. They lost my check for 5000 usd two months ago, and I am still waiting for new one.

Wish I could post negative stars!!! And I have seen many many one star reviews which does not shock me! I’ve also seen the name Erica Holliday the manager as being unprofessional, again not surprised. How does this lady even still have a job, her position is not rocket science nowhere near it yet she appears highly incompetent to do simple tasks! Can someone remind her that she is JUST a worker at a bank, again JUST a worker at a bank. And someone remind her that the majority of her job is to assist customers! I am in serious doubt that she has a good comprehension on her job duties. The least she can do is have good customer service. Isn’t there upper management that evaluates these types of things, anyone with common sense would see she needs additional training on her position. Doesn’t matter if she has been there a decade, that just makes it even more sad. How many bad reviews does it take. She doesn’t have a good track record from what anyone can see online and she needs to be reminded that she wouldn’t want anyone treating her nor her family the way she treats others. She gives off a big feeling that you are wasting her time, she doesn’t not try to help or find resolutions for customers, and upper management should really look into what true customer resolutions she is actually doing, I’m sure they would not be happy. If I could give this bank a 0 I would. They promote to join and get $200 bonus and it is a lie. You open the account and when you call to verify the bonus is added they say yes and when the 90 days are up and you don’t see the money, you call to inquire and they state oh the bonus is not there. You speak to the manager and he’s like oh so sorry. I requested he listen to my call and hear the agent confirm the code was posted and of course the answer was sorry but with sarcasm. Of course I’m immediately taking my money out and never banking with people like this. I had this situation a long time ago with Citibank as the codes don’t generate sometimes, that’s when I found this out, and it was honored and provided to me. So clearly this bank lacks customer service skills and could careless about the customer. Let me remind you Joshua the money doesn’t come out of your pocket. It comes out of the owner of this bank that’s promoting to open accounts in return of a monetary bonus that was not fulfilled. A better business bureau report was also done to report this potential fraud. Also one of the agents stated a lot of people call about this???? Sounds like a scam to me. But of course your voice can’t be heard because it’s transferred to small guy that says too bad but more professionally. It’s not the answer you want to hear but no you didn’t meet the qualifications because the code wasn’t posted. When it was. How can you prove it? No way. Most bigger and successful banks would have honored it.

I think for the most part everything is excellent for both St Petersburg branches. In fact I enjoy going there because they are so close to my office.
Unfortunately the resolution department needs to be more than just my way or the highway. I financed a car for son he lost his job and made a mistake by not telling me. He assumed that I was going to be upset with him. I called them trying to fix the problem “ It was a bad nightmare “ I called and asked for so I can take over the car. With the money on my hand no joke $862& some change. He denied me the right point blank. And sent the car to the auction and messed up my 25years credit. In final I have a repossession on my credit for almost $18000.00 ?????? Hey man I’m not going to work with. I have the power. “My way or the highway.”

I purchased a vehicle from a local car dealership and was told the date that my first payment would be due. Five days before the payment was due. I still had not received any paperwork so I called the dealership and they gave me the number to Gte Financial in Tampa. I called and got a hold of Laura and she said she could send me new paperwork out but it s already been sent once. I again reiterated to her that I was concerned about the first payment being late she said well she couldn t guarantee that the new paperwork would reach me in time so I suggested that maybe she send the new paperwork to my email address. Not sure why she just didn t volunteer this in the beginning anyway long story short I got the paperwork via email but I have decided because of this hassle I ll just pay the car off.

Very bad service, my car was totally lost and I called several times to file the paperwork. I have been waiting for more than 20 days for them, bad information from them and they have never failed in my payments and look at the terrible service, I do not recommend it.

We went to the 38th Street location on Friday Due to fraud we had to close our accounts and open new ones Marc Roa was very helpful and had a lot of good ideas on how to prevent fraud. I would highly recommend him

I have been a member for about 4 years and never had an issue with the bill pay, until today. Everything was set for Friday (payday) but bill pay decided to pay everything today and overdraw my account. Something changed in their processing and customer service kept telling me that it will process early to meet the date scheduled. As stated, 4 years and paying bills the same for that time. Never had a bill paid earlier than what was selected on the site. Something has changed in their system with processing. They did reverse the over draft fee as a courtesy . I will not be using their bill pay anymore.

The customer service from this organization is so horrible. All they wanna do is send you messages in the message center. They dont fully address any concerns nor do they call you when you request to speak to a live person. It is the most frustrating bank I ever had to deal with. So disappointed after all these years that Ive been a member.

I hate this bank. No one knows anything, it s a pain to call and speak to someone, also you let them know you re struggling financially and they don t care and they don t want to help you. As well they changed my interest rate on my FIXED auto loan without letting me know. You re better off going somewhere else because GTE is not a good institution.

Stat away from GTE. The only thing this bank offers that others dont is dissapointment. Take your money somewhere else. Their fees are the same as banks and they are making so many changes that their employees dont even know how to respond accurately to questions. You are told one thing and then told something different later. Money is not the thing to play with when you are living on a budget.

LISTEN...I am a current member since 1991 and currently looking to change my to Suncoast Credit Union. In the last 6 months -2 important financial transactions that I was service with wrong information costing me money and time. Be carefull! Bank has change GTE is no longer the bank that it was. Weak training on their employees teaching them as you suffer the consequesnces.

While making a large purchase from Home Depot, I wanted to use my Premium purple card but didnt have enough credit on it. I called GTE and reached Sebastian, who carefully discussed my options and low interest loans. Settling on upping my purple card and closing my blue card, since I didnt use it, Sebastian started the motions but it was the end of the day. He called back saying hed reach out to me the next day after the actions were completed. True to his word, he called me to finalize everything. Ive ordered my project and gave my wife the good news. I was truly impressed by Sebastians professionism and manner of conversation with with me. Really a good experience. Kudos to him.

Erika Holiday Ext.43720, Joshua Anderson, and Eileen 43628 from the We Can Help Dept, are racist, condescending, and inhumane. Erika Holiday and her subordinate are just as disgraceful unprofessional and bias. Recently became disabled and as a result Ive had to rely on the debt insurance that is embedded in my GTE loan contract to pickup the outstanding debt as a result of me having become fully disabled, only for them not to honor the contract clause. And even with them receiving the Notice of Disability, thats thoroughly filled out by my attending physician statement. I mentioned to them that we were affected Hurricane IAN and we were made aware that they were offering ALL consumers whove been affected by the hurricane a deferment but, they refuse to provide me with the same courtesy deferment for my car loan for October 2022. GTE Financial isnt a credit union that anyone should bank with. Its organization does not do business in Good Faith, and does not provide the same blanket provisional to All race, gender, creed, disabled, etc. consumers.

I was paying a bill and they took way too much money out of my account. The 2 stars is representative of the absolutely horrible IVR system GTE now uses. I personally had to enter my member ID # three times, and got routed to the wrong area once. But the biggest complaint is there is no easy way out of the ridiculously long IVR string to get to a live person. I understand that many people prefer not to have to speak to a person, but for those of us who prefer human contact, this system is atrocious. When I finally did get to speak to a representative, they were very helpful and quick to fix my issue. I would highly recommend taking your members that want live interaction into account, and not just tossing us to the side. You are a credit union, a financial institute that is supposed to be member focused. If I wanted sterile, computer driven algorithms, Id go to a national bank.

I had an issue with Zelle and tried using Chat yesterday however the notation 30 minute wait appeared. Didnt wait. Called Headquarters today and after 5 minutes or so I got Melissa (I hope thats her name)! She sought help, diagnosed the problem, and didnt lose my call, and resolved it fairly quickly. She was understanding, patient and polite. Kudos and appreciation!

I made a mistake on my Bill Pay! I have 2 of the same accounts on my BP. one was closed & one was active. My mistake was sending a payment to the closed one!! GTE sent a paper check to them as it wouldnt go through electronically. I saw that the check was cashed. How!! its a closed account. Well Jeremy Ross at GTE was my saving grace. Explaining the situation was tough & confusing. He stuck it out with me. He even sent me a copy of the cancelled check so I had the evidence if something shady was going on. I called my closed credit card account & the mystery was solved. They were able to link to my active account & they applied the check to that account. I spoke with a supervisor Melissa about changing my payment date. She was really helpful, professional and courteous. Having a new loan with GTE i was confused about my account and she did an excellent job of helping me. Above and beyond. Id get another loan from GTE simply based on my experience with melissa!

Since April I have been in the process of receiving my new card, communicating every week with a representative of the entity but no solution until today (06/21/22) when I was assisted by a very professional lady who She solved the problem in only 30 minutes, it is unfortunate that I do not have her name, congratulations to her and I recommend that the entity evaluate its staff so that these incidents do not happen and they are able to serve the client as they deserve and give the answer correctly as soon as possible, thank you

J-Jeremy handled my call and was super courteous, funny and most helpful. He came up with a creative solutions to my problem. A real out of the box thinker.! Its not his fault @GTEFinancial is trying to rob me.

Some of the necessary account actions could be better understood by customers, especially relating to inactivity fees. None-the-less, I am amazed at the high quality of customer care. It took some effort to reach an agent via phone tree and hold music. Glad I waited- Josie completely turned my experience around. Each of my concerns was addressed with expertise and empathy. By the end, all issues were perfectly resolved. Confidence and satisfaction restored. I cannot express how thankful I am to have reached such an amazing team member!

Member Care Rep Melissa was outstanding. She quickly handled my IRA Withdrawal issue and again confirmed specifics when I requested. She was pleasant, openly friendly and very competent. Great virtues in a GTE staff member. Also kudos to IRA Dept for quickly handling my withdrawal as I requested.

I received a text that there were fraud transactions with my card. Since bank website warns us to be careful with any call regarding about fraud transactions, I waited few days to go to the branch (instead of working with master card associates). The Clearwater/palm harbor Branch associates was very helpful and going thru to al my transactions and checking if all transactions was made by me or fraud . They blocked my card, get me a new one (on the spot) and provide me with the timeline. When I finally received my money back, I called customer service to see if the NSF fee that occurred due to those fraudulent transactions could be refunded as well. They really work thru it, analyzed it and credit the money back to me. I appreciate you all helping me especially with the current situation, I feel safe that I received notification right away when the unfortunate incident happened and your team assisted me to solve the issues. Thanks GTE Financial, your teams are rock ! ( I am sorry I forget all the associates name who helped me )

Absolutely horrible experience. We have been waiting to be funded for a loan for over a week. The representative we spoke to at GTE guaranteed that they would over night a check for a boat that we sold to their customer. Then the supervisor we spoke to the next day said they NEVER overnight checks to dealers. Here we are 8+ days later since the boat left our facility and they still havent sent us the funds. They shared a Fedex tracking number with us for an overnight label that was created two days ago but never shipped. We provided them with everything they asked us for last week including pre-registering the boat and recording their lien. The DMV closed out the title, we have paid all of the fees and they are still refusing to fund us. Very poor business ethics.
