I dont know where to start. Mr. Martin is an OUTSTANDING loan officer and even better person. I knew little about the home buying process, just the basic stuff. I told him from the beginning that Im nervous, scared, and excited about buying a home. Mr. Martin gave me such a wealth of knowledge and understanding of everything and extra information that I didnt know about or heard of. He answered my calls everytime no matter the time and would explain/answer my questions in such great detail and depth so I understood the home buying language instead of just the basic generic answer. He would even go out of his way to send me a couple of property to look at. I can tell from the first day we spoke before we started the process, Mr. Martin loves his job to help veterans and making people feel comfortable and understanding of the process. I did have days of doubt and wanted to back out because offers wasnt going our way and just seemed impossible. Mr. Martin comes in with his superman cape and reassured me to stay positive he will get me a house. I can go on and on, but I will say Mr. Martin will always have a friend in me! He gave me so much knowledge in this industry that I feel I can be a loan officer. Thanks again Mr. Martin you are an outstanding person with a great personality and a great member to the Veterans United team! Mr. Martin and his team are outstanding since the very first time I spoke to him about buying a house. I knew nothing about the housing buy process, what to look for, or even where to being. Mr. Martin answered all my questions throughly and even went above and behind to make sure I was understanding everything when he explain things to me. I have learned so much and understanding how home buying works, that I can help someone buy a house. Just outstanding service!

As a Veteran and first time homebuyer, I had no idea where to start. My google search led me to Veterans United, but still didn t know if I was doing the right thing by utilizing their services. Start to finish, the process was streamlined from the pre approval online to the closing documents through the MyVU app, what seemed like a daunting process became easy as checking a few boxes. Alice Schneider and her team helped us through the ups and downs of the interest rate market, from going under and out of contracts and finally closing on a home that fit us perfectly. I would 100% recommend Veterans United to any of my fellow Vets looking to buy a home for their first time.

Veterans United uses a very efficient online document system. Their team worked very cohesively with me, keeping me on track with updates via email and group chat. It made the process so much less stressful for a single parent! I would highly recommend going through them as they also help with listing the local utilities, water, internet etc via the online portfolio. It saved me a bunch of time and energy. :)

As a 20 year real estate agent I found it interesting and really unprofessional to how there was never any contact with me as the listing agent. Reassuring the listing agent that the buyer is fully qualified and on track for a smooth closing is expected but evidently not with them. From start to finish not one word in an email or phone call. Pretty lazy.

This process was a very scary process for me and my family as we are first time homebuyers. The team at the Colorado Springs branch office, lead my Alice, was amazing at every turn. They made sure I was always informed of every piece of information I could possibly need, answering me and my wifes millions of questions. No matter if they where in a meeting or actively available, they where still there to make sure no question was left unanswered, no idea or contingency plan was left unexplored or set in place. When first offers for a house where not accepted for the house that was our dream home, they didnt just throw in the flag and say lets just try a different house they, within minutes, had a new offer already planned out and briefed it to me with military precision and detail. We did not expect to be buying a home at this early of a stage in our life and my career in the Army, but they exercised the Armys Warrior Ethos of I will NEVER Quit and I will NEVER accept defeat, and made this mission of getting my family a great home a success. I have never found such great dedication from a team, to help a veteran and active duty service member find a home. They didnt just help find a home, but went out of their way to make sure I had tools, contacts, and services in place to make sure I could continue to improve on my home, far after the home buying process was complete. The team here in Colorado Springs should be used as a goal and standard for all lending agencies and realty teams, not just Veterans United, for how to reach success in helping people buy a house that will become a home. All veterans and active service members should look no further than Veterans United for help finding their home.

STARTING OUT, MY EXPERIENCE WITH VU WAS GREAT! INITIALLY, I BEGAN WORKING WITH JARED AND HE WAS AWESOME. HE WAS VERY PERSONABLE AND WE HAD GREAT CONVERSATION. HE WAS ALWAYS AVAILABLE AND WILLING TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT I HAD AND PROVIDE INFORMATION THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS. KYLE WAS ALSO A GREAT VU CONCIERGE TO WORK WITH. THESE TWO MADE THE PROCESS RELATIVELY EFFORTLESS AND I WOULD ABSOLUTELY WORK WITH THEM AGAIN. MY EXPERIENCE WENT DOWNHILL WHEN MY FILE WAS TRANSFERRED TO ALICE. ALTHOUGH SHE IS VERY NICE, SHE ALWAYS SEEMED TO BE IN A RUSH WHEN WE WERE ON THE PHONE. SHE DIDNT REALLY LISTEN TO WHAT I WAS SAYING OR THE QUESTIONS I WAS ASKING AND WOULD FREQUENTLY CUT ME OFF MID-SENTENCE, WHICH IS A HUGE PET PEEVE OF MINE. ALSO, WHEN I GOT TO THE CLOSING TABLE, I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE THE WIRE OF THE CLOSING COSTS PRIOR TO THE CLOSING DATE. I DIDNT KNOW THAT I HAD TO COMPLETE THE WIRE PRIOR THE CLOSING. MY LOAN OFFICER DIDNT BOTHER TO EXPLAIN THAT INFORMATION TO ME. LUCKILY, I HAD TIME TO GO TO NAVY FEDERAL TO GET A CASHIERS CHECK BUT THAT SITUATION COULD HAVE TURNED OUT TERRIBLY IF I DIDNT HAVE A BANK IN THE AREA. IT JUST SEEMS THAT SHE WOULD HAVE CALLED TO GO OVER ALL OF THAT INFORMATION WHEN THE FINAL LOAN DISCLOSURE BECAME AVAILABLE JUST ENSURE WE WERE ON THE SAME PAGE. SHE WAS TYPICALLY EXPEDITIOUS TO RESPOND TO TEXTS AND SHE DID A GREAT JOB EXPLAINING BUYING DOWN THE INTEREST RATE VS. PAYING A HIGHER DOWN PAYMENT SO I GIVE HER CREDIT FOR THAT. MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH VU WASNT TERRIBLE BUT IT WASNT THE GREATEST EITHER. I WOULD LOVE TO WORK WITH JARED AND KYLE AGAIN BUT WOULD PREFER NOT TO WORK WITH ALICE IN THE FUTURE SHOULD I CHOOSE TO REFINANCE OR FINANCE ANOTHER PROPERTY THROUGH VU.

My husband and I applied through them back in 2020, as we were first time home buyers. Our personal experience was horrible. They would constantly change our agent without informing us. So, we never knew who to talk to. Trying to get our questions answered was difficult, we felt ignored the list goes on. After the 3rd time we decided to go with another company. My husband is retired army and the way we were treated was extremely disappointing. They only approved us for $250,000, we could not find anything decent in the range, we did ask about an increase to the va loan, but nothing. After going with another company, they approved us for $370,000. All the same information given, how does one company get more than another?

Yeah, NO.. I made a huge mistake by going with this company. I only went with them because it was recommended to me by my sister and my sister had great a experience with them, but not me. I believe the assistant is probably new, one thing that strike me with him was when he had said that the credits won t affect that much, we ll sad to say that my credit score went down because of you. The husband and wife had amazing attitude, but that assistant brags about himself and how he is the one that does everything when I only ask what happen to his boss, because I would rather talk to someone who was refer to me and he told me that he was the one who does everything and that he probably did the paperwork with my sister, no he didnt. The couple was great but the assistant Nope.

I cant express enough how much I am sad and angry with these people. We started our process on December 9th of 2021. It is now January 18th of 2022. We submitted everything they requested online and told to wait. We figured because of the holidays coming up and whatnot that maybe they were just on break. We had given everything, we just need to get pre approval, or maybe we would be denied. We figured we would find out relatively soon. I had even emailed Alice if she had gotten everything, there was no response to that email.Well at the end of December, after Christmas, we called both Alice and Josh and customers service because Alice and Josh never answered their calls. Nor got back to us. After calling Customer service they reached out. Alice spoke to my husband saying we needed to provide more info. Well, no problem, except it took us contacting her to get her to tell us this. Well we got that information, she said we would be in the ball park of around 300,000 for pre approval. Cool, we could try looking at places while we wait on the official letter! Well we find a hone we really love, we still dont have a pre approval letter, so we tell her if she cant get the letter that day for this house so we can put an offer in then we have to go somewhere else. Admittedly we should have gone somewhere else. We get the approval for 215,000 which is the listing rate for the house. We have literally no wiggle room and asked if we could get pre approved for 232,000, which may or may not matter depending on how the inspection goes, but if we only have that one letter we also want to know what other houses we could get as they just applied the loan amount for the MLS. Well we are waiting for the new updated letter and now it is today! January 18th of 2022, a whole 40 days after we started this entire process, we get an email from her saying we are denied for any loan through them as the underwriter doesnt like my employment. Now, I am not necessarily upset that they didnt approve us, I am upset about literally everything up to this day. And if the people or person or whoever is going to respond to this from their office doesnt understand what I am mad about, then do not bother replying to this review. You are literally toying with our lives. If you would have told us that from the beginning, we could have done so much else trying to find a home. And just a reminder to the people over there that may have seen our file, my husband is disabled, and we needed a home before the end of January otherwise we would be homeless as we cant stay in our current house past January, we started this in December which could have been plenty of time, and maybe we should have just said no and gone with someone else, but you are literally ranked number 2 on most VA home loan lenders, but right now it certainly feels like you dont deserve that title at all.

Heres a company you never want to work with. Asked my agent specific questions he would not answer. I got emails in response that purposfully ignored my questions. To me thats enough to say this is not an honest company. Any lender can do VA loans, there is zero reason to work with a company that cannot answer simple questions. As a veteran it disgusts me this company calls themselves Veterans United. To be clear to anyone reading this nothing really happened, they just would not answer a simple question related to my circumstance. Even if you dont know the answer, a simple let me check would suffice. But to just ghost people is down right rude. They must have enough clients they dont care if they lose a few. Then they shouldnt really care about this review either. There are so many great lenders out there, read the negative reviews here and move along.

Using this company for our home loan was a huge mistake! Their name implies that they do VA home loans, but they requested paperwork and proof of things far beyond what the VA requires to qualify for a loan. They also never answered the phone if you have questions. Don t really tell you anything about what s going on unless their requesting more absurd proof of everything. We had to call a manger and report our lender Matt. We went above and beyond with this guy and our last straw was him accusing my husband of providing fraudulent paperwork and then told us we couldn t even use his VA retirement as part of income! This was our first time buying a home and it was miserable! We ended up switching to another mortgage loan company and I m already impressed with the difference in customer service and the process! Throughout coroma virus, job loss, news jobs, income changes they were there each step of the way for us. They also even ensured that we stuck to the budget that we gave them which we grew to strongly appreciate. Needless to say not only did they help us out by allowing us to buy a home in Denver which is one of the most competitive sellers markets we have seen; but to our surprise they provided and even lower interest rate than promised which we found to closing. They helped us through multiple offers and multiple contracts that fell apart and always had our best interest. We would recommend recommend for veterans over any other lender. We thank God for Veterans United.

Alice Schneider and her team are wonderful! She made sure that our home purchasing process, especially on the financing end, went seamlessly. Alice aired on the side of caution to prepare us for any possibility but in the end, it worked out better for us that we could have hoped for. Alice is a busy woman but does her very best to get back to you when she can and provide answers to your questions to the best of her ability. It is a delicate song and dance between the lender, the builder and a nit-picky underwriter but Alice handled it with grace and ease under challenging circumstances and always maintained composure and an encouraging attitude to us as first-time buyers. Alice made it a point to be at our closing and had everything on her end ready to go and organized. Alice did everything in her power to ensure that we made it to the closing table as happy customers on the financial front and we appreciate her efforts, pleasant customer service and accommodating nature!

So we had Benchmark as our lender and some of the information we were being fed was difficult to swallow. Then within a week of closing I consistently saw Alice on facebook ads and such that I had to give it a try. Withing 24hrs we spoke about the numbers and how everything that we wanted made sense. Upon completion of our loan processing and approval there was no doubt that Alice knew her job. There was no bizarre estimates and insane numbers for closing costs. Alice thank you for doing such quick work to get us approved and remain in the home we wanted. Its very unfortunate that Benchmark was so hard to work with towards the end. We will be spreading your name all over. We are grateful! Thank you and I hope you continue to enjoy life.

This is our second home using Alice and the realtor she referred us to on our first home and I can say that we are now lifetime customers to both. Alice provided her personal number and was readily available to answer any question at any time. The process is very automated, smooth, and did not impact our daily lives. The official closing documents we all digitally signed online which even helped reduce the time spent at closing and more time to move into our new home. We can not thank Alice enough for everything she has done for us and how accommodating she was during the whole process!

This was my first home purchase which I had contemplated years in knowing the frustration of dealing with other lenders. I reviewed the background of Veterans United Home Loans and filled out the paperwork. The process was so easy. The whole team was patient and diligent in assisting me in every aspect of my Home Loan. I am retired Army and I continue to work with soldiers everyday. I have become an advocate of Veterans United Home Loans. So when I hear soldiers talk about purchasing their first home I direct them to Veterans United, I told them its like being with a team and family and you cant go wrong. So dont hesitate, they will guide you in the right direction without feeling any kind of pressure.

I went with them exclusively for a VA IRRRL quote and refinance because I am so pleased with the customer service and ease of use that I have had with them so far. Kyle and his team Evan and Jaclyn were great! They were great on communication and we had a closing date of under 20 days on which they were able to accomplish! They were awesome! I recommend them to anyone. I will say that the only issue I had was when they sent out our initial CD, we were getting a signicficant amount of money back, but when they sent us our final CD, it was a lot less money back because there was a maximum cash back at closing, which I wish was disclosed, but I guess thats my fault for not researching. Either way, they were great and EXTREMELY helpful in the home buying process, (especially for first timers), which is really stressful in the first place. Thanks VU! :)

Veterans United makes you go beyond the requirements of the VA. Veterans United was willing to let us go homeless while we wait a month for a lead test in the well water. Joke of a company, I asked a simple question and got ignored, sent 2 emails and called twice. Never got a call back, I started the process to get a pre-approval, they ran my credit ( mid 700s ) signed what they wanted, I asked a simple question as to why they wanted linked to my personal bank account and instantly got ignored and never heard from them again. Dont trust them at all. I placed a fraud alert on my credit just to be safe after all that. They also wanted a Divorce Decree from 9 years ago.

Do not recommend. My husband is leaving the army in a week and we had a house under contract and were set to move in Aug. 12. Veterans United contracted out an appraiser to appraise the house and he appraised it way too low. He didn t count the completely refurbished garage as a room, he didn t wait to hear back from Tide Water, he compared the selling price to three non refurbished homes that sold in the area, not three that were similar to ours. Even after sending in a letter to fight this, Veterans United said it was out of our hands. Now we have to find a new mortgage company and pray to god we can figure this out by next Friday or we are homeless. (Currently stationed at fort Carson, husbands new job through ABF freight is in Atlanta and our closest family is in DE, 26 hours from Carson and 13 from Atlanta. We have a 5 month old, 1 the old, and 3 yr old.)

Went in once and talked to a gentleman who was super helpful. That was a great experience. On two separate occasions however I tried to deal with a lady called Alice. Both occasions months apart she was quite rude and honestly was too busy to provide any sort of useful assistance. Both occasions I got the impression she was home rather than the office and had other priorities. While I understand things come up, she could have at least made an attempt to be professional in her communications. Cant say that really makes me want to do business with them if she is what they have to offer for a standard of service. UPDATE: (response to the owner) I just wanted you to know that I did in fact send an email to the one you provided on March 14. After a month, no response ever came to that email.

This company is absolutely horrible when it comes to serving our veterans. My father who was wounded in Vietnam has 2 purple hearts And a serve the country for almost 10 years finally decided to use his VA to get a house here in Denver, Colorado we went with veterans United with the understanding that they are tuned more towards veterans Even though my father has a 700 point credit score and makes $40000 a year they only approved him for $217000. Here in Colorado you cant even get a condo for that much. Next they put him in touch with two realestate agents who were beyond snotty both of which demanded that my father put $3000 earnest money down since he wasnt putting a down payment and even told him that they would not allow him to make an offer on a house unless he puts the earnest money down. One even had the nerve to say just because your a veteran do you think you can get a house for free?. If you are a veteran and dont make more than a $100000 a year do not, whatever you do do not go with this company they will rip you off and pretend that theyre doing a va loan when in actuality theyre doing and FHA which is another thing that they did to my father. My father called His VA representative and after telling them what this company did to him with a 217000 dollar loan and 1475 a month payments the rep told him that this company was a joke disguising itself as vet friendly to jump on the support our troops band wagon. My father went elsewere and got 340000 loan 0 down and 1000 a month payments.

I have to say I could not be more satisfied with Grant Schnieder and his team. If not for his excellence I would not have the home I live in now. Not just that, but the extra mile he has gone for two outstanding Re-Financings. This last one brought my rate down by another .50 After receiving the usual mailers I had to ask Grant if maybe it was time to take a look at a solid, honest, no B.S. quote; and he, again, pulls it off! I would stop throwing the laurels at this, but that extra mile showed up on my doorstep, in the form of a mysterious box filled with Pizza Themed gifts. After looking through the box I found a note from Veterans United, from Grant and his team. I didnt remember saying anything about my family being in the Pizza bizz, but Grant apparently did. I guess my sons work shirt from our familys Pizza Joint tipped him off. I will take my business no where else!

We had worked with another mortgage lender before going to Veterans United and it was a disaster. Alice ensured everything was good to go before we even put an offer on a house just so there would be no surprises. Our rates are great and we have zero complaints about the service we received. Just to note, I am not sure what Chad Cherrys one star review is about but none of the things he mentioned were ever involved in our process. If you check his reviews, he is a habitual one star contributor. Some people just cant be happy with anything...... Veterans United has a great track record with positive reviews from literally thousands of people (company as a whole).

When I received orders to move from overseas to the Colorado Springs area my wife and I decided we were interested in buying our first home in the Colorado Springs area. Originally, I was considering working with a familiar mortgage company without a local presence. However, after they had trouble reading my military pay stub (LES), I decided to check out Veterans United to talk to someone with experience working with active duty military. Boy, am I glad that I gave Grant a call at Veterans United! I am convinced that without Grants boots on the ground, spot-on advice and information about the local market and VA loan closing timelines, underwriting requirements and relationships with local appraisers and realtors, we would not have been able to secure our first home and close as quickly and painlessly as we did - using a VA loan! In a sellers market with homes moving quickly, having Grant and his team (thanks, Dmitry!) give me regular updates and easy-to-follow checklists for required documentation made it easy to close on time! Also, the rates and fees at Veterans United were very comparable if not lower than the other mortgage banks I checked with and they offered a no-fee rate lock that gave me peace of mind. I have to note as well that Veterans Uniteds online e-document system is great, too! It made reviewing and signing all the applications and disclosures a breeze from the other side of the world with a busy schedule. Grant and Dmitry were easy to get a hold of even at late hours and always returned my e-mails timely. Dmitry even pulled up his laptop late one evening to push a last-minute document to the underwriter to ensure an on-time closing! And another benefit of going with a local mortgage broker - Grant actually attended the closing in person with all the required documents in order and confirmed the funds were wired on time to the escrow/title company. The whole team at Veterans United was nothing but great to work with and I would highly recommend them to any active duty military considering relocating to the Colorado Springs, CO area!
