Been with Navy Federal for almost a decade now and it's OK for banking and loans. But I feel like I got scammed by the rewards Credit Card. I've tried to cash in rewards twice now and both times I didn't get anything. The first time the gift card just never showed up in the mail and when I called there was nothing they could do. The second time the hotel I spent 7000 points on was not as advertised and was too disgusting to stay in. When I called there was nothing they could do as well. Seems like more of a scam to me so I cut up my card and transfered the balance to another.

This credit union stole a deceased persons money to pay a credit card balance and then called the deceased persons family to complain that the direct deposits wanted their money back but the credit union had already closed the account after taking the money. They literally wanted this person's family to pay that back . What a joke of a credit union.....do not deposit your money here.

Please replace the lady at the host table she checked a guy in let him wait for god knows how long and then told him he had to know somebody to open an account this is true but tell him that when he walks in. Then instead of printing off replacement cards for guests who need them she gave everyone a plastic card saying express service when that’s supposed to be her job smh. Worst experience so far they even gave this guy someone else’s card.

I wish Navy Federal had locations in Minnesota as well. But, this location was okay when I lived in Denver, CO. Before moving to Minnesota in 2019 I initiated a VA home loan thru Navy Federal to buy a house in Eagan, MN. The process was tedious to say the least. I was assigned a real estate agent to navigate the homes in the area, and when we closed Navy Federal issued me $1500 as part of their program.
Overall, while the process was tedious I still made it thru the paperwork and now live in my new home. The employees of Navy Federal including real estate agent were good, but the guidelines weren't always fully explained and had to dig into them to understand what was required of me. Navy Federal VA home loan program is better than most other banks as I know that Navy Federal will keep their programs in the future, and not be like other banks that sell their mortgage portfolios to other companies then you don't know who to make payments too.

If you use Navy Federal I would highly encourage you to think again.
This is the worst banking institution out there. After 4 $150 transactions at a restaurant at 5:30am were processed they finally blocked another 3 and notified me of potential fraud. I contacted NF as soon as I woke up at 7:20am. I spoke to Amy who was very helpful with processing the claim but was told it could take up to SIXTEEN business days for the money to be returned to my account. They have to wait 3 days for it to process or fall off (yeah, because a fraudulent transaction will magically fall off), then another 3 for “someone” to submit fraud claim for me, then up to TEN business days for NF to refund. This is $600, not $60. With todays economy, who can wait SIXTEEN BUSINESS DAYS for the money to be returned? That’s over 3 calendar weeks. I told her I was going on a trip in a week and she said it wouldn’t be returned by then. I had a fraud claim with USAA for $1400 in 2012 and they returned the $$ immediately. Common sense applies—they knew that it was obviously fraud and they also knew they could pull the $$ from my account if they magically discovered it wasn’t. Do you think Navy Federal can do that? Nope. I told Amy to move the $$ to another account (don’t have bank card) and close that one so I could withdraw the funds to move to a local credit union. She said they wouldn’t refund the $$ if I did that. DO NOT BANK WITH NAVY FEDERAL. It doesn’t take SIXTEEN BUSINESS DAYS to return $600. But hey, let’s hold on to your money so we can collect interest. May not be much interest from $600 but when this policy applies to all members and they’re waiting SIXTEEN BUSINESS DAYS to refund, imagine how much $$ they’re holding on a daily basis. This company is scum. Do yourself a favor and find another financial institution. I know I will as soon as these thieves process the claim in SIXTEEN BUSINESS DAYS. One more thing, check your bank account to make sure you’re not missing $$.

This is probably the slowest NFCU branch that I have ever been to. Customer wait times are just as important as the customer interaction. Having to drive one hour for a bank to print me out a document and having to wait more than an hour is unacceptable.

Good benefits the credit union has. The customer service need much work. As with traditional banks or any public place location is everything. The Navy Federal in Aurora is better in being slightly more polite than in Centennial. Customer service should be 1 every where.

Terrible customer service , I came in 2 weeks ago to pay everything off gave them 600$ cash for my credit card and 1,000 on for everything else , A week goes by and i get a notification saying i still owe on my card . I go back into the branch and they tell me pretty much they dont know where the money was put . Took 3 employees to help and still messed it up, talked to 4 people over the phone and all of them said word for word that they don t know what to do and that they re going to have to get back to me, I paid $1700 for them to ask me for more money . Do better

Navy Federal is a terrible banking company. I lost my wallet and went in to the bank to get a new debit card. They asked for my ID but I told them it was also in my wallet that I lost. They would not accept my military papers or my fishing license as identification and did not offer me any other alternatives other than ordering a card online with would take 3 to 5 buisness days and today is Friday. All my money is on my card and to get a new ID card I have to get an eye exam which costs about $150 and pay the fee for the new license and then it will also take 3 to 5 buisness days. The most money that Navy Federal would let me have access to from MY ACCOUNT was a one time 100 dollar withdrawal which will not even cover my eye exam. I have military documents that provide my identification, I have a fishing license and old picture ids and navy fed still REFUSES to give me access to my money or even show any desire whatsoever to help me in this predicament. ZERO STARS. The employees were also pretty rude and showed no sympathy or interest in helping me solve the crisis.

Came to pick up a pre approval letter for a loan. Never got my drivers license back from the desk I was working at. Noticed I didn t have it when I went to pick up my daughter from daycare. Came back within the hour and my driver license is nowhere to be found.

Hands down worst credit card company I have ever dealt with. They are extremely unwilling to go to bat for their customers, despite their polices being overly rigid and nonsensical in many aspects. Toxic company leadership leads to employees who are unwilling to help out customers even when theyre capable of doing so. I will never utilize Navy Federal again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! I highly recommend USAA if you are a service member, my experience with Navy Federal has been nothing short of miserable

I deposited a payroll check by phone and 2 hours later the funds were still not there. So, when I went to pick up my car from an auto shop it was declined. I m now carless with two small children. The lady on the phone said oh, we don t talk to that department, it could be 5 min or 3 hours. Even after I explained the situation she just said nothing I can do .

All i wanted was to change my last name on my card came in first time with marriage certificate wasnt good enoungh needed state id with new last name ok got that and Social Security with new last name came in n was told nope need marraige certificate ..... Best Credit Union ever. Whenever I show up or do business over the phone, everyone is friendly, responsive, and gets down to what I need. I have banked at all the big banks, never again. I can tell you that the folks remind me of A certain fast food chicken chain that is consistent every where I go. Nice people, however, my experience has been a nightmare. I live far away from the nearest location and had to rely on transfers via phone or online. Several problems occurred and it was extremely difficult for me to get help from these guys to straighten them out even though they were the source of the issues.

Have been a member for almost ten years and this branch is full with great employees. Keep in mind that most of the bad reviews are about their problems over the phone (the people you deal on the phone are in another state btw) or online banking, not to this location specifically. The only downside is that this is the only Denver branch and believe me, the over-worked employees want other branches to be open as much as us, the customers.

Just opened an account through Virginia on the phone. Came into the branch to make the initial deposit into both accounts and set up my debit card. Wait time was very short and every employee had a great attitude and strived to make my visit pleasurable.

After signing check, found out that they didnt want to cash a $20 check because I didnt have a second ID! The check was made out to my daughter who is a minor. Totally fake and unfair to non customers!

Part of the reason to have a credit union is to access your account anywhere nation wide. I was told I have to use the atm. Money markets and savings accounts dont have atm cards. The tellers need to be able to help me.

If I could I d give it a negative 5 star. By far the worst branch I ve ever been to. The customer service is horrible, the wait takes forever and the bank reps have very bad attitudes. Stay away from Kimberly Nicola. She constantly complained about not wanting to be at work, continued to yawn in my face, and didn t even do her job! I understand that we all have bad days and don t want to be at work, but don t take that out on the customers/members. She was an absolutely horrible representation of this branch. Will not be returning!

Navy Federal doesnt really care about getting new members. After being notified that I needed to upload proof of address and an ID for the joint account owner, I uploaded the documents on the secure web server they supplied and got positive confirmation that they were uploaded successfully. Never got another notice. Called today to check and was told the application was canceled because I never supplied the documents. Wish they had notified me that they still didnt have what they needed. They cant reopen the application, so Id have to start over. I needed a solution quickly, and this was not it. I will look elsewhere.

Been a member for over five years and I am now going to cancel all four accounts I have. Had an emergency to come up and explained to them I would be traveling to a state NFCU is not located in so I could not get the cards I needed right away or in person at their branch. Only had one card with me. I overpaid the balance on the needed card intentionally so I had enough money and decided to pay on another card since payment was due. Told them needed funds available immediately on this one card I had with me and made it very clear. They told me funds were available. I found out later in the day funds were not there after a transaction declined. They gave me a bogus excuse as to why they could not make funds available when they made funds available for the other account earlier in the day. I clearly did not have that particular card and was in a panic. I ended up stuck out of state with no money for the weekend since I made a payment on a Friday. I spoke w/ customer service manager Crystal who did not care and refused her last name. She was very cold and stuck to her script. I have paid this credit union much money in the last few years and cant believe I was treated this way. Its one thing if they would have said they werent able to help me at all but when there is proof showing they have that capability then of course their intentions are questionable. Will NOT continue to do business with them again.

Navy fed always gives me trouble when Im using the app to try to deposit checks which I originally thought was cool because I live far from a branch but it never works and I sometimes end up not having money I need for my family.

I have had numerous problems with my vehicle loans for the past year with this bank and no matter what I do it seems they just keep charging me more and more money not even for the loan for late fees that occrue when theyve made mistakes. Ive spoken with Brandon who is the supervisor and he refused to help me at all in any way with anything that had to do with my loan because it wasnt their problem had I known I was going to be treated so poorly I wouldnt have gotten my vehicle loans through this bank. Ive moved my bank to key Bank and plan on being refinanced through them for both of my vehicles. The service here is some of the worst Service Ive ever encountered.

This place is a joke, Ive banked with NFCU for years and the branch manager at this location as well as the supervisor made a discriminatory call after I attempted to make a deposit. There was no ethics and morality in the decision making process. After this experience, Im definitely choosing a different place to actively bank.

Ive been a NFCU member for almost 20 years (since I was first active duty USMC), and the customer service has gone downhill. I assume its because theyve sold out the ACTUAL service members by letting everyone and their dog become a member. Also not happy that if you live in Northern Denver, you have to drive 45+ minutes just to get to a branch when the refuse to assist you in remote banking technical failures. Looks like Ill be considering banking with USAA in the future.

Specifically, Don took all of his will power not to cuss on the phone but as a longstanding member with an issue he didnt want to have to deal with, Im horrified and incredibly disappointed. The phone service tends to be well-regulated but Im shaken and furious at Dons demeanor and it reflects on the entire company. Please find some capable, coherent and confrontable humans for your service. This is the Navys credit union for crying out loud.

I have been a member for two years now and I have never had a complaint about NFCU. Great telephone banking and great service, even at the branch. I have hated nearly every bank I have been with, but have loved every minute I have been with NFCU. I wish they would build a few more branches in Denver though. They are all over the place in Philadelphia, where my brother and sis-in-law are. I feel Denver has a large enough presence of military (active and retired) to support a Central, South, and North branch.

So unexpected! Went to cash a check from my brother who was Navy. They asked if I wanted to open an account. Didnt know I could. Walked away with a new checking and savings account. Thank You!

I been with NFCU for 6 years, even after I got out the Marine corps they have always been nothing but good to me. The best bank Ive ever been with.

Our Son is in the Navy and my husband and myself have been members for almost 3 years. I have nothing to say except EXCEPTIONAL The service is always prompt and the BRanch Manager David is Stellar. He will take time to discuss anything you need to know! It is now OUR Family..sinc. Joanne B. Almeida.

Worst customer service around. They are a fairly decent bank, as long as you dont need your money in a timely fashion or have any problems what so ever. As soon as their customer service is involved, they really couldnt give less of a damn about you. I deposit checks weekly, and they say they have a 1 day hold on them, too bad it often takes up to 3-4 days to clear!

Best rates on my VA Loan and Vehicles. I love leanding groups and other banks faces when I tell them my rates. They always say Our best members can not get rates that low.

Customer service is terrible. Navy Federal puts hold on my payroll check and also held CASH that I HANDED to a teller personally. Will keep my account to retain member status, but will not bank with them. They seem to be benefiting more of me than I am of them. Do not want to be a part of a bank that is not for their members. I have taken my business elsewhere.

We have been working to get our auto loan since monday. Called last night and were told it was being sent off to have the interest rate calculated and would be prepared by 9 am eastern time. Went into the branch today and told it was approved, but they were having an issue printing it, so just have a seat in the waiting area. THEN were told that it was still under review. How does something like this go from being calculated, to approved, to BACK TO REVIEW??? Not happy, will probably go get loan elsewhere and move mine and my boyfriends accounts elsewhere

Weve used Navy Federal for 22 years. After retiring from the Navy we moved to an area with no NFCU branch - but the online service has been awesome. We also use the smart phone app and it is awesome! If you need to make a deposit and have no local bank - just scan with your computer or take a picture with your phone and youre done! :) Always have prompt service on the phone if anything comes up. Were fans of NFCU!

I was denied membership because I am no longer affiliated with the military. I was surprised to find out that NFCU does not support honorably discharged combat veterans unless they fall into a certain time frame of 8 years after discharge, and there is no mention of this in the application. I do find comfort in knowing that even a house hold member of an existing member can join NFCU having never served the country in a time of war or peace. If it wasnt clear, that is complete satire. This institution prides themselves on serving those who serve, but once discharged they will tell you to piss off. But hey, at least that load sitting on your couch can reap the benefits you fight for.

the best credit unions Ive ever been to services great people are fantastic customer service perfect and to the people that think NFCU is bad and you have to drive 4 hours find a second bank that may be closer to you solution solved and on top of that if you have direct deposit dont have it go to NFCU yourself Im sorry stop being lazy and have patience youre only human

I have nothing but great things to say about NFCU. From last week, to 15 yrs ago, from home loans to car loans - they are there when you need them. Online app is awesome, service in person is great too. You may have to wait, but its the quality of service that counts. FYI, dont show up on a military pay day and lines are rarely more than 10min long. Free services like notary are the icing on the cake.

Navy Federal is great when your in the service and deployed every so often. However, once you settle down, if youre not in a Navy town, its terrible. I drove 4 hours to deposit a hefty check with ample amount of time (according to the #1 search engine used world-wide). A quick search for the branch locations open and close time on Google stated 6:00pm. Upon trying to call the local branch number I received a phone-tree for the entire NFCU. However, upon arriving at 5:31, the gal on the other side of the window drew her finger across her throat, I assume to signal to me that they were closed. All in all, absolutely disgusted with Navy Federal, after 2 generations and over 40 years of banking with NFCU, I have never had a worse experience. Absolutely disgusted.

The bank hours list this location as closing at 6pm but it really closes at 5:30. Just rushed across town to find locked doors.
