Just have to say it is super busy and Im in line currently! Line is going fast but I want to say that the woman at the front greeting people is a very kind woman. A blind woman came in and bc its busy she took her name and told her to sit down and someone will personally be her teller. How sweet! I havent even spoken to anyone yet and people are being very kind.

Customer for life!! Ive been with NFCU a few years and Ive yet to be disappointed. I rarely have to call customer service but when I do, its a satisfactory result. My card was skimmed 3 times in 5 months and the fraud dept was on it! They blocked most transactions and the ones they couldnt, I was given a credit immediately. And they even sent a new card next day! On top of that, Ive had to use the $500 OOPS which has been a lifesaver. I love their app and technology and I appreciate that the customer service is in the US. They have a forever customer.

Nfcu has denied my claims, I made against shady companies 4 different times. I cant stand this. They ask for paperwork, but in some situations its all over the phone. So the representative said its my fault for not getting things in writing. This is wrong. Ill be looking for a new bank. Nfcu will not protect you

Worst service ever. We were on travel to California from North Carolina and stopped in the Vacaville branch. My husband went in to make a withdrawal from our joint savings. He provided the account number to the teller. There was one teller and the branch was packed. She told him she had to verify his account first. He had a savings account that probably has $5 in it and couldnt remember the number. She found it but it had our old address. We changed our address when we moved. We have a mortgage, checking, savings and credit card, why wouldnt it have changed on all? She then proceeded to spend about 20 minutes updating his $5 account before allowing him to withdraw from our joint account. By this time people were lined up out the door. Total inefficiency and she was also rude. We have been members since 1992 but this was the worst experience ever!

They need to keep the young women working here in the offices not at the front desk. Cause the dudes come up and they act like theyve never seen a pretty woman before and they just get to flirting and talking. Like theres not a whole line of people waiting on they turn so they can get up out of there. Them lines be moving slow because the men just keep flirting and talking. Stop flirting And striking up conversations that these women have to pretend to care about, getting distracted, holding up the line.

Took my nephews to open up accounts. I stepped out the branch to use the phone and when I walked back up to the door they said it was closed and they couldnt let me back in for security reasons. I walked in with them initially. Before locking the door the guy standing facing the door could have asked if I wanted to come back in being that Im the one he told it would be a 30 minute wait for them. It would be okay if theyd apologized for the inconvenience instead of staring at me like I was trying to rob them. I guess I get it but I dont like it. Theyre lack of customer service is what prompted this review. Update, while outside I noticed an exchange with another customer/member. I asked my nephews about it and they said the member in the branch after being helped sat in a chair near the door on the phone. He was approached by staff and asked if he was done with his business at the bank and he said give me a minute Im on the phone. The staff member continued asking if he was done and if so he needed to leave. There were still people in line to be helped and my nephews and others were still waiting for bankers to assist them. Interrupting him while he was on the phone was extremely rude and unnecessary. This branch needs lessons in customer service and engagement.

I had checked the reviews previously for this branch, it wasnt good. I made an appointment since were coming to speak with a representative. All went well. Ate Cherrie was great. My personal opinion. If its an important matter, schedule ahead. If you can wait, then just walk in. But remember, this branch covers a whole northern area. So be mindful of that information and plan ahead. Be nice, be courteous, be kind.

I recently applied for a home equity loan with Navy Federal Credit Union, and Im extremely disappointed with the entire process. The appraisal for my home came in shockingly low, and despite raising concerns about its accuracy, the credit union failed to take any action. One of the comparables used in the appraisal was 28 months old, which is far beyond the industry standard. Additionally, there were several other errors, including discrepancies in square footage and even an incorrect appraisal date, which underscored the overall sloppiness of the report. Despite presenting a strong case for a second appraisal, Navy Federal provided a dismissive one-paragraph response, stating that there was nothing they could do. I would have thought that such a bizarre situation would have been investigated and followed up on. As a member of a military family, I expected a higher level of service and understanding from an institution that supposedly values its military clientele. To anyone reading this and thinking Im just ranting, look at my review history. This is the only time Ive given a 1-star review.

DO NOT MAKE AN ACCOUNT HERE. Navy Federal Credit Union allowed someone to steal my identity and make a fake account. Then their fraud department would not even speak to me and a supervisor who would only identify themselves as Chelsea told me an investigation would take up to six months. This bank is absolutely NEGLIGENT. Take your business elsewhere!

I came in this past week I asked to speak to a banker regarding a deposit. The man who greeted me denied My request and had me go talk to a teller. The teller takes my check to the manager, who gave it to another manager, who literally told me in front of everybody else that was in line, This check is not gonna clear because of the formatting. They didn t process it they didn t call to verify the funds. Nothing literally embarrassed me in front of everybody as if I was committing fraud or my check was bad. This was the most terrible /embarrassing banking experience I ve ever experience and me and my three children are members and we re going to be no longer members moving forward.

Came in person for teller services. Can t speak for over the phone service. I agree with others, this place is stretched thin regarding their staffing level and size of the branch. It s the only NFCU within a 50 mile radius while serving several densely populated cities in the local area. We can t control the NFCU staffing levels, the size of the branch, or how many customers come in for banking services. But if you are patient and willing to show a little grace to the employees, they are very receptive. Have a happy new year everybody!

BELIEVE THE OTHER BAD / DISORGANIZED REVIEWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They magically had phone issues and couldnt hear me, (even though my next phone call lasted more than an hour without issue, not to NFCU). They asked if I could use chat (which was disabled), or drive to the closest branch (more than an hour away). So, I cant call them, I cant chat with them, So my only options are to drive in? Ok, but Ive been waiting more than an hour, with no sense of urgency on their part, nor any privacy (all interactions are in the public space without walls or dividers ( with nearly 20 people standing in this same area). And one employee doing absolutely nothing besides typing or reading on her pc for more than an hour. The line is now out the door.

I have had the absolute worst experiences with this bank, I am waiting for a check to clear which my aunt had sent me for my birthday and then Ill be closing my accounts with them. Im too exhausted from dealing with them the last few days and over the weekend over them clearing this check which has been perfectly okay from the beginning that I cant go into all the details all themessed up things theyve done. Yesterday a so-called specialist even read to me what the legal ramifications would be if I were trying to defraud the bank by putting this check in my account. Long story short they finally decided when there were no more options for them to deny it, that they would hold the check for the maximum of five business days before releasing the funds to me Im hoping my review of them here doesnt add time to that, it wouldnt surprise me, but at this point I dont care Id rather get it off my chest and let other people know not to deposit their money here.

I went into the branch on 11/7, they told me funds will be available 11/10, the funeral for my dad is on 11/11. I get an email a day later saying they put a security hold on the check for an extra 7 days. Ummmmm I have bury my dad on 11/11, you told me the funds will be available, now they moved the date to 11/16 on when funds will be available. I can t even bury my dad! I have been on the phone for hours & all they could tell me is there s nothing they can do to help me. I visited this branch today and I had the worst experience ever!! I ve never felt more discriminated against in my life!! I went see the security transfer agent to get a medallion signature. When she approached me she had the stamp in her hand but took one look at me and said very rudely I m not signing that I finally got her to at least take a look a my documents. She took a copy of my contract but still refuses to stamp it. Those documents had my signature and social security number on them. She never returned them. Also stated the UCC code to her which she was very ignorant. According to Section 8-401 of the UCC The transfer agent is liable to persons presenting certificates or transfer instructions for losses resulting from any unreasonable delays in registration or from a failure or refusal to register the transfer, pledge, or release. In view of this liability, registered transfer agent should implement sufficient internal controls to ensure that securities transfers are not delayed by the rejection of acceptable signature guarantees. One example of an appropriate internal control is to have an appropriate level of transfer agent management review all rejected signature guarantees and any related follow-up there to. This branch can use a diversity training coarse. I plan on filing a complaint with the Secretary of State etc.

Navy federal was down the street so I went to store. I went in and sat down with a representative of navy federal. She asked for ID, I explained the situation. She told me to leave the bank and they could do nothing. She did not even want to turn off my card report fraud nothing. Just said get out! This bank needs a plan for events that warrant immediate remedy. Needless to say after the affairs have been fixed I m still debating moving banks. Out of all the events that morning that took place the bank I have trusted told a customer to get out in the most needed moment.

I also just got approved for a personal loan for upgrade on our new home. All of this was done online and yes I did call to verify some information but beside that the whole process is painless. I will definitely recommend this bank to my friends and family and no I am not one of those reviewers that get paid for writing reviews for some businesses either. I have read reviews about that. I am your average american that works hard for his money and NFCU is the bank to make that work in your favor. Dont just believe me keep on doing your homework and see for yourself. The bottom line is that their mortgage product is unusable. At first, Navy Federal Credit Union seemed like a great deal. They still offered 0 percent down loans with no PMI. We went through the online application process, which was fine. But when it came to start making offers on houses, the real trouble started. We live in a very competitive market, and one of the first things we learned about NFCU was that they had gone early to the 45-day close that some lenders might be going to in October 2015. A 45-day close in a competitive market is...well, just not competitive! Most people could close in 21-30 days. Even after October, our realtor told us that many mortgage brokers and banks are going to still try closing in 30 days by cutting down some of their processing time. Our loan officer pooh-poohed this and basically dismissed all of our concerns. We made four offers with NFCU and none were accepted, I think at least partially because of the super-long close. Also, the letter was not like the preapproval letters we read about online. It was accompanied by two pages of conditions, and even though wed already given them things like tax returns and W2s, the letter said things like this loan is dependent on receiving W2s and income verification. We tried hard to get them to at least partially underwrite us so that they could remove some of those conditions, but they refused. Which brings me to the real problem with NFCU: the customer service, which is, simply put, atrocious. This was our first house, so I didnt really know the difference until we tried with a different lender. The first major snafu with NFCU was that for some reason, they qualified us for less than what they were actually willing to loan us because of some communication error about how much we wanted. So we lost out on offering on one house because we thought that the loan amount wouldnt cover it, even though it turned out that they were willing to go to a much higher number. Maybe we could have clarified this with them if it wasnt basically impossible to talk to them, but every time we called our loan officer (Carla Gustafson), it was like speaking to her for the first time. She never remembered who we were or what wed already given her. She was apologetic and said it was because of her case load, but really, either hire more people or preapprove fewer loans. She was nice enough when we did manage to reach her, but not having someone who remembered where you were in the process was a major hindrance to us making credible offers. She wasnt willing to write us the strong preapproval letter that we needed: Im not sure she could have done so if shed wanted to. Everything about the experience of working with NFCU and Carla was frustrating. She clearly thought that their extraordinarily long close time was no big deal, and said as much, no matter how much we told her about the situation here (multiple offers, double-digit overbids). Eventually, after we kept failing to get an offer accepted, we ended up going with the new San Francisco start-up SoFi. It really put in stark perspective the problems with the NFCU experience. Our SoFi loan officer was always instantly available, remembered who we are, was very quick getting back to us when underwriting needed something else, and, best of all, was able to write us a strong preapproval letter with a 21-day close. Everything was done online and over the phone, and when our loan officer heard that we were going to be out of the country on day 21, she sped up the process so that we could sign the papers before we left. Our interest rate with them was only slightly higher, and although we had to put down 10 percent, SoFi also doesnt charge PMI. You get what you pay for sometimes. If you want the VA hospital experience, by all means, go with NFCU. But I wouldnt recommend it in any market that is even slightly competitive.

My husband and I have been with this bank for over 20 years and no matter what you type of money you have into Navy federal, they treat you with kindness and generosity. I love talking to the bank representatives on the phone and in person because they make you feel like family. I feel that you are the best Navy federal. Thank you for being so kind to us. Your respect to us is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, M. Singleton
