My mortgage refinance with HomePlus is nearly done, and I'm about ready to cancel the entire thing because I've been unhappy with the treatment I've received by their agent, Paul Rasor.
When I first called HomePlus, I was told somebody would be in touch within 30 minutes. After an hour with no contact by anyone, I left home for my day and returned a couple hours later.
Paul contacted me some time while I was out, and I replied, sending all required documents needed to proceed with the mortgage and lock a rate. There was still time left in the day to do this.
Instead of completing this on Friday, Paul left this over the weekend, making it too late to get the lower rate I could have received if this had been done promptly.
It's been a week or so since and it's now the day before I'm supposed to hand over a cashiers check for the closing costs. I asked Paul yesterday to give me the details I needed to have this cashiers check properly completed, but I still haven't heard from him.
Every bit of correspondence Paul has requested from me, I have delivered as promptly as possible. But when prompt action has been necessary from Paul, it's not been forthcoming.
Buyer beware, all the great things that seem to be on the web about HomePlus, do not seem to be the truth in all cases.

I was helping my 80 year old mother with a refinance. I had previously done 3-4 purchase/refinance mortgages on my own homes. Jenah Rommel is the best I've ever seen! She is so knowledgeable and friendly, and was very patient when answering my mom's questions. She was in constant communication from the beginning until the refinance closed, and when any issues came up she took care of them immediately. Great Job, and Thank You!

Actually the Home Plus staff we dealt with was professional and helpful, specifically Maureen Martin was efficient and helpful and when it became obvious that the after sale services by the assigned lender they transferred our loan was totally incompetent, she did what she could to help, but she could not make incompetent people competent. The lender was Planet Home Lending, they took one payment from us then promptly transferred our loan to Select Portfolio Servicing. These people are incompetent and they have one star on Google reviews, and they are, according to their profile, a lender for bad risk borrowers.
I am a physician with no financial problems. The genesis of this one star review for HomePlus is simple, they share the report card of the lenders the transfer the loan to. Let's say as a physician i refer my patient to an incompetent specialist and there is a bad outcome, my patient will and should hold me responsible for making such a bad choice on his or her behalf. HomePlus is responsible for the problems I have had to endure as a mortgagee , the succession of administrative problems that. have yet to be straightened out and will not be because despite innumerable calls to SPS , they still cannot even find our loan number , phone number , SSN through their automated system, we have to lie that we are new customers 7 months later to get to talk to someone. And that is the tip of the iceberg.HomePlus needs to be way way more careful in how and who they chose to partner with and refer to in business and if they don't think they need to for some reason like "it's out of our control", then they should expect more one star reviews from people like me . I own four properties, three are paid for, i have had a dozen or so mortgages in my lifetime and this experience has been the worst ever, by far our worst lending experience and we hold HomePlus Mortgage responsible for letting us be transferred to a one star lender ( over 200 reviews) SPS.

Mr. James Rotta not only walk my wife and I through the process, he went above and beyond expectation in getting our paperwork done within a week for us to close on the new home before our old home was even close and process. Dont know what happened to us, but this was the worst lender Ive ever worked with. Maybe they were slammed, but there was an unending list of elementary mistakes on the application, utter confusion and disarray on their side. We had to pushing closing twice to accommodate mistakes and errors in the process. Its weird reading the other reviews because its like theyre for a different mortgage company, yet the NMLS ID was the same.

My loan officer was Vivian Pang. She was awesome. Being our first home purchase she guided us through the entire process smoothly. She was easy to talk to, throughly answered all the questions timely and also made sure we understood everything that was presented to us. She and her team are professional and help close loan on time in-fact she helped us close the loan with in 15 days once the offer was accepted. I thought I had found my preferred go to lender when I gave them 5 stars....then they sold my mortgage to the absolute worst lender in Freedom Mortgage. So my review changes to reflect Freedom Mortgage.....One star is generous.....Moving forward I will avoid HomePlus Mortgage so I can avoid being sold to Freedom Mortgage!! Unbelievable!!

Alonso was very patient and accommodating in answering ALL my questions. If there was a delay or new/additional information required, he asked me and informed me in such a respectful manner. In todays world, respect, courtesy, and follow-through are all but neglected. It was refreshing to interact with such a professional that not only did his job in keeping me informed through this nerve-racking process but he did it with such patience and understanding. I was going to close with another mortgage company until their processor became disrespectful and dismissive so I immediately stopped the process with them. Dealing with Alonso changed all that and I went with HomePlus. It was my best decision thus far. I apologize it took so long to write this review. It was well overdue. I closed in September 2022.

My relationship with Emily has been amazing. We recently were in the process of buying a cabin, and had checked places to get a loan approval, including our own bank and credit union. I was not happy with the interest rate they gave me, so I started searching the internet. I came across Lending Tree, although I wasn t familiar as to how they operate. I entered my information and just a few minutes later I got an email from Emily offering to help with the loan approval. It had been 40 years since I applied for a mortgage, but Emily answered all of my questions and concerns. Once our offer was accepted, Emily answered her phone right away and started working up the numbers that would best suit our needs. She gave me such a relief, we got a good rate and we got it locked in, and we were on our way to getting our loan. Emily and I were on the phone almost every day, with all the questions and concerns I had. She took my calls no matter what time or day. She even took my call when she was hiking out of state! I don t know what I would have done without such personal and sincere care. Emily had our side of the loan wrapped up 20 days early! It was the seller that was dragging his heels. I would never go to any other person for my mortgage needs. Not only did we get our 2nd home, but I made a good friend for life!

They provided the most competitive rates and closed on the planned day. Zach and Denise were very friendly. However, the last minute realizations of missing insurance document or employment verification confirmation put a lot of stress on us which is why Im giving 4 starts.

I just completed my second mortgage with Chris Ross. He is the most trustworthy, hardworking broker. I cannot tell you how stressful of a situation I was in purchasing a home in foreclosure. Chris not only was able to work miracles by processing everything quickly, he was able to show extreme patience in a sensitive situation. I cannot stress enough how knowledgeable Chris and his team are. On top of getting a fantastic rate in a volatile market, Chris showed care and patience with all involved. I do and will continue to recommend Mr. Ross to anyone looking for a mortgage. ***original review*** I worked with Chris Ross. I am a first time buyer and was completely terrified of getting ripped off. Not only was Chris amazingly patient, his honestly and guidance was incredible. I dont know if I would have put up with myself and he did it with such grace and ease it put my mind at rest. We ended up with such a good deal even our realtor was floored. As a matter of fact even with the recent drop in rates our current 30 year mortgage still cant be beat. I now recommend Chris to anyone I speak with that is looking for a new mortgage or refinance.

Alonso Escalante Maurtua is THE guy! We were looking for homes and my credit union was unresponsive when it came to applying for a mortgage. So we found Home Plus through an online ad and were linked with Alonso. He walked us through the process step by step and answered every question we had. He was patient with us and all of our questions and explained in detail concepts we were unfamiliar with. Do to family related issues we dropped the ball on alot of things, but Alonso was persistent when we were lagging and really helped us get a great deal. The rate he got us was below 5% when at the time average rates were much higher - closer to 5.5 or 6%. He even went above and beyond to work with our realtor and sellers realtor to get the deal done on the house. He calls with updates and doesnt make you feel cornered or under pressure in any way. We will recommend him to our family and friends and will reach out to him again if we ever want to refinance or buy a new home! Im a pretty picky person when it comes to service and product and I highly recommend working with Alonso if you expect the best!

Chuck Crowder was very professional and knowledgeable about the re-fi process. He responded very quickly to questions and concerns that I had before applying (my first time doing a re-fi online!) and was able to quickly offer suggestions and solutions to problems that would come up later during the process. Everything upfront. No hidden costs. The entire process is seamless For the past 20 years, I have been doing my new home loans and refinancing through a family friend. Since he is retired now, this is the first time I did my refinancing through a new mortgage firm. I found Homeplus Mortgage through a web search and called Chuck. The process is very simple. I could able to finish the online application in 15 minutes and sent all the documents request. Chuck made the entire process seamless and hassle-free. Upfront he communicated what the interest and closing cost would be. There were zero hidden costs. The loan was closed exactly on the day it was promised. Had a great experience as a first time home buyer with Home Plus Mortgage. I worked with Leah Green who did an amazing job during the whole process. She was very helpful and explained everything that didn t make sense to me. The main reason I chose HomePlus over many other mortgage providers was because they replied to my questions and emails really quickly as compared to everyone else. Leah Green was very helpful since the beginning of the process of buying our first home. We had a different lender that was going to give us a high interest rate, but Leah helped us secure a lower rate with Homeplus lender. She guided us in every step in the process. Even when I was about to give up she was always there to help and reassure us that it was going to be fine. Whenever there was a problem or something that they required, she always found a solution. We finally got our first home, and I am very grateful for everything that Leah did for us. He was very short and concise in explaining and answering my questions/concerns not to mention he was very transparent with the whole process. The whole process (from first call to the date FUNDED) took 22 days. The fees were significantly lower than any other lender and so I was worried that there would be a catch. But the whole process was seamless and the fees were actually a bit lower than quoted. I would definitely recommend this company!

Chuck is the most knowledgeable and experienced loan officer out there who offers the best deal and real help I made a mistake of applying for refinancing on several of the generic refinancing websites on a late evening during the COVID 19 pandemic. I had just found out the interest rates were historically low during the pandemic. That night, though it was late, I made a whole bunch of applications online to make sure we could get a good interest rate before the rate would start go back up. The following day I was inundated with a myriad of emails and phone calls replying to my applications. Out of all these offers, one truly stood out from the very beginning and that was the email from Chuck Crowder. In his email, he wrote down all the details and clearly described what exactly he was offering for several scenarios that could best suit our financial needs. I was so impressed, so I had to call him immediately to confirm his offers. It was late in the evening, yet he answered my call right away, as he always does any time of the day or night, and explained his offers step by step. His explanations were just straight forward, and the offers were exactly how they were written down. No gimmicks, no tricks, just facts. He is very knowledgeable, yet so soft-spoken and easy to talk to. He is such a great listener and a great problem solver. After the lengthy discussion, he offered 2% interest rate for our jumbo loan and we could not believe what we were hearing. Because of the favorable offer, we had to prepare many documents, but Chuck was always there every step of the way helping us to complete the application successfully, and we were able to close the deal. Whenever I think of him, I have this image an angel taking our hands charting through a rough water, and I cannot help saying though to myself, Thank you, Chuck, for all you have done for us. My 24 year old son, a first-time homebuyer with limited knowledge/experience in real estate, was referred to Tad from a work colleague after using Tad recently purchasing his first home and having a positive experience. Tad was incredible, serving the role as a teacher, patiently educating and assisting my son through the process of getting qualified for a loan, showing homes for sale at all hours during the week and weekends across San Diego county, and making many competitive offers on my sons behalf in a challenging sellers market. Tad was open, honest, and always looking out for my sons best interest, to help him find a quality property that was within budget, in a safe location, and something that he could afford. I cant express how appreciative I was for that, not just as a father, yet also as an investor who is cosigning to assist my son get his foot into the door owning his first home. In August 2021, I worked with Emily Van Slyke at HomePlus to refi my mortgage. HomePlus offered an excellent rate that wound up reducing my monthly P&I payment by >20%, and communication throughout the process was prompt, competent, clear, and (perhaps most importantly) flexible in terms of email vs. phone calls, which was a welcome change of pace in an industry that otherwise seems to be stuck in 1995 in terms of spammy unscheduled phone calls. Even though my refi required an appraisal, Emily did a fantastic job coordinating it and handling all the behind-the-scenes work necessary for the process to be smooth from the customers perspective. The process lasted slightly less than a month from the initial inquiry to the loan funding. I would unhesitatingly recommend HomePlus for anyone considering a refi.

Tad Anderson and Fran Painter with Home Plus Mortgage were both an absolute pleasure to work with. My wife and I both had a lot of questions throughout the loan process from pre-approval to closing and Tad spent many hours over the phone answering our questions. I recently closed my house loan (refinance) via Emily Van Slyke at Home plus mortgage. When I first started looking for a mortgage, I tried a least 4 different companies and they all promised great rate and low fees on the initial disclosures, then everything will go up rate and fees, but not with Emily, she set up a clear expectations with great interest rate and lenders credit. She was able to locked a better rate then the one she had quoted at the beginning, it was the best rate and lenders credit available in the market. What I truly liked about Emily was the way she guide me on what to pay or not to pay to bring my Fico scores a little higher to be able to get a better rate. In both cases, Stephanie provided topnotch service - clear and timely communication, pushes the process forward and most importantly, the process was very transparent. I am a returning customer of Charlie and Legnaly. Both experiences I have had working with them have been exceptional. My first refinance was my first ever. Not knowing much about the process I was apprehensive but they made it quick and easy. Charlie took the time to explain the process to me, worked diligently to find a really low rate/refinance costs and coordinated all closing to do s at my convenience. I returned to Charlie when I needed to refinance my house again for a buyout. This second time Charlie and Legnaly provided the same exceptional customer service and due diligence. Charlie took the time to explore a variety of loan options, worked with me to navigate a few complications with deadlines and made this slightly more complicated refinance another positive experience. Their commitment to seeing those complications through were critical to me getting to successfully complete the buyout. Of note, both were quick with email responses. HomePlus uses Caliberhome Loans to finance. We did an IRRRL (VA) refinance. I lamented my experience with prior refinance co s and my current mortgage company. Manny ensured it would not be like my prior experiences and his team worked to lock in my rate at 2.25%. (My original mrtge Was 3%.). It took exactly 30 days application-to-closing. The key was to be upfront with manny and bring EVERY concern and question to him, so he can produce reasonable expectations. He worked with Caliber home loans to get me the answers i needed from my new prospective mrtge co.; was available to talk when the notary came to my home., responded within hrs. Of my calls and texts. He ensured me the dealings between HomePlus and Caliberhome loans are superb and if any issues arise to call him directly to help. I have no doubt he will keep his word. *I have yet to work with Caliber, but will call them shortly.

The latter part of December 2020, a relative told me about an experienced that he had with a Residential Mortgage Loan Originator that he had meet and process a refinance loan for him. He told me that Christopher J. Ross at Home Plus Mortgage was the best organized loan originator that he had ever meet and that I should give him a call. My relative told me that Mr. Ross was very smart, organize, and professional. Mr. Ross kept him informed all along the loan process with updates on where the loan was in the process and what could be expected next. I call Mr. Ross and stated that I was looking to refinance my home loan. He immediately sent me the loan application and immediately started collecting the documents needed to process the loan. I would talk with Mr. Ross two or three times a eek keeping abreast on the progress of my loan. He would explain where we were and what was coming next. This went on for about three or four weeks until my loan closed. It only took about four weeks to close my loan. I am so appreciative that I was introduced to Mr. Ross. I will contact all my friends, relatives and associates to see if any of them are interested in re-financing their home loan because Mr. Ross is the best I know.

25 days from application to funding of my new home mortgage! This was by far the most effective and efficient process of the totally eight mortgage application processes I have experienced in my life. Everything went smoothly thanks to Hal Weinshank at HomePlus Mortgage. He quickly found me a good deal that will save me $550 less in monthly PI payments. Hal was incredibly good in our communication and he was always quick with responses to all my inquiries. He expedited the loan proceedings diligently. All document handling was done via the internet. I never had to leave my house to perform any part of the process. The signing of the final documents was also done at home with a mobile notary visiting. The on-going Coronavirus pandemic did not seem to slow anything down. I could not ask for better support than what I got from Hal and his team. A special mention is needed for his assistant, Lett Phommavong. She helped Hal stay on top of things and she is an exceptionally good communicator. She sometimes sent me responses via e-mail late in the evenings. I strongly recommend Hal and his team at HomePlus Mortgage.

This is my 3rd refinance with HomePlus. We worked with Chris each time. Hes able to get us up to the minute rates and the final results are always close to the initial estimates. The rates we get are always competitive with what is on the open market. Hes able to guide us through the maze of refinancing and helps us understand the paperwork if we have questions. Hes patient and not pushy when you are waiting to lock in the rate but will give you advice on certain markers to watch for. Overall a great experience and we saved a ton by locking in a better rate. Would use them again... but are rates going to drop any more?

When I initially called James about a refinance, I was skeptical due to a series of poor customer service with another lender-that gave me the run around for months and jacking up the rate because they could not manage the volume of work. James explained that he was no nonsense , would get the lowest rate possible and a fluid and fast closing/funding. James was incredibly responsive, dependable and competent. He backed up all of his promises and with the greatest of customer services, even responding to my questions on the weekends and often times within minutes. I would say that this has been the best experience I have ever had in refinancing and I have had several. I am 100% satisfied. HomePlus Scored a Win with Melisa! From the moment she first reached out to me and throughout the whole process, Melisa was informative, patient and respectful of my requests and time. My plans changed and were put on hold for an extended period of time, but once I contacted her to move forward she gave me every bit of attention and assistance I needed to complete the process. HomePlus Mortgage recently refinanced our mortgage loan. I cannot say enough positive things about their process and their people (especially Manuel Ybarra and Shawna Kraft). After receiving a couple of letters from them in early 2020 with some great advertised rates, I decided to email the same person we worked with in 2019 to see if the rates advertised were actually honored. Not only did they honor them, but they worked quickly and diligently to close us in less than 30 days, while keeping us in the processing loop consistently, they also came in with some with very competitive closing costs. They refinanced our mortgage first in 2019 - and although I was somewhat of a tough customer in the beginning, they built my trust and made the process quick and seamless, while honoring the rates they quoted from beginning to end. There were no surprise fees, no surprise increases and they were highly responsive to any inquiries or questions we had. They work as a true team, and regardless of who you spoke to or emailed, they knew exactly what was going on with your loan every step of the way. We were very pleased with everything they did for us, and will continue to utilize their services in the future when needed. We highly recommend HomePlus for your mortgage needs.

Just completed a refinance with HomePlus. The rate was competitive, better than what my existing lender offered me to stay. I worked with James Rotta, who was efficient and provided great service, responding to emails and phone calls typically within the hour, often faster. James provided helpful advice on loan terms and worked to keep my expenses low, which they were with the exception of the appraisal which was a bit higher than the average cost for my county (at least in normal times). That said, the process was, well I wont say *easy* because refis involve a lot of documentation and back-and-forth. But compared to others Ive done, the administrative overhead was blissfully minimal. This was actually my second refi with James. Im a repeat customer, as hes the best value Ive found for the combination of service and loan terms.

She secured a phenomenal rate and delivered an amazing experience (imagine that doing a refi). She managed to pull off a 15-days escrow to help me win the bid. We had some initial issues that caused some concerns, mostly as a result of a new lender, PennyMac, but Greg and Jim talked me off the ledge and walked me through the process through closure. The only reason Im not providing a 5 on this review is that the process was not as smooth and error free as I would have hoped. Having said that, I truly appreciate Greg and Jim hanging in there with me to help me understand the numbers that were constantly changing and to help me put this refinance into perspective.

At first the communication was slow, then waited for awhile on the credit rescore. After that things picked up and went smoother. (Keep in mind this was during the start of COVID). Rate was very good, VA refinance. Customer based companies are personality driven. Ryan did a great job, coming in for the save.

Great Experience! I was interested in refinancing my home loan to lower the interest and of course the payment as well. I was really struggling on finding a lender that would work with me . This is the 3rd time Ive worked with Chris at HomePlus over 10 years. Theres a reason I have him on speed dial (is that a thing anymore?) for any purchase or re-fi: He makes it happen. I can depend on him to do everything thats needed and more to get good financing, be totally professional and knowledgeable, and make the process as smooth as possible. Chris works at all times of day or night (weekends too) to quickly respond to any question or interact with escrow, real estate agents, insurance agents, lenders, credit agencies - hes on top of it.
