As first-time homebuyers, we were glad to have Avenir Mortgage Planners on our side. We initially met Cedric at an open house, and he was very kind and informative. He followed up by spending an hour on the phone to discuss and help us understand the home buying process. Initially, we did not feel ready to purchase a home, but Cedric remained patient with us and was receptive to our questions throughout the year. Also shout out to Lisa who was working with Cedric at the time to keep our file updated. When we were finally ready and our offer was accepted, his teammate Brent moved quickly and efficiently. Everyone was very proactive and communicative as they worked in the background to coordinate paperwork, signings, insurance, etc. They guided and supported us throughout the closing process and in less than a month, we were able to close on the property. Overall, we highly recommend them!

We shopped around at several nationwide brokers, but went with Avenir because they were able to match the lowest rate we got, they were the nicest to work with, and they are local, which meant that they understood additional things about closing costs that the bigger companies did not. Our family completed a whirlwind purchase of a home in the beautiful Crossings community in Concord. The house was brought to our attention by local Realtor Nancy Bennet and after viewing it we knew it was right for us. The owners needed to sell the home very quickly, so Nancy put us in touch with the Avenir Mortgage Planners which is owned by broker/owner Greg Lartilleux. Over the next three weeks with the support of Nancy, her right-hand gal Jana Loureiro, and transaction coordinator Kara Clifton, they guided us through the review of the disclosure statements, inspection reports, the purchase agreement, and the reading and DocuSigning of the myriad of documents necessary for purchasing a home. Simultaneously, we worked with Greg and his team of mortgage experts, Loan Manager Brent Lloyd, and Loan Partner Lisa Levi, as they guided us through the preparation and submission of the proper financial and tax documents, home insurance papers, and all the money transfers to the mortgage company that are necessary for purchasing a home. The Avenir team was great I felt like I had hired a team of personal assistants to help me through this process. I originally selected Avenir because of Gregs patience in explaining how things worked to me as a first time home buyer. Theres not much more I can say than what has already been said by other reviewers. We switched lenders during the escrow process and Avenir was up for the challenge. Not only did they get us a better rate than our previous lender (on a jumbo loan!), but they also were so efficient that we were ready to close early and it was the seller that held us up. This team is just the best. Fast, efficient, patient.

I would highly recommend Avenir Mortgage Planners. With their help, the whole refinance process was pretty painless from start to finish. The transaction was completed in just over four weeks. I dealt mainly with Greg and Brent. Both of them were extremely knowledgeable as well as dependable in getting back to me when they said they would and providing info when I requested it. For years, I have seen Greg Lartilleuxs & Avenir Mortgages information in flyer coming from a realtor to all homes in our neighborhood. I thought that one day I will call him to look into refinancing our home. I kept putting off that call year after year. Until about a month ago, when I heard on the radio that mortgage rates went to lows not seen since the 2008/09 crash. So, I decided to call Greg. We made an appointment and met at his office, in Pleasant Hill. Prior to meeting, I provided Greg with all the necessary information regarding our current mortgage, payments, income, etc, in order to allow Greg to research and find the best refi options for our home. We met in COVID 19 compliant conditions, masks, social distancing, etc. Greg was very well prepared, knew inside out the details of our mortgage, had our credit checks run, and, based on all the information, had prepared two mortgage refi proposals. Both of them had an exceptional low rate. After carefully reviewing with me all the details of both offers, we picked one that best suited our current situation. Then, Greg explained how the entire process will work out. The refi choice selected will save us significant money on a monthly basis, and over the life of the loan. By all means, this is probably the last loan that well ever need until the home is paid in full. The following day, and over the next 3-4 weeks we have worked with Brent, one of the Loan Managers with Avenir Mortgage. Brent guided us through the various steps that we needed to complete (e.g online approvals for documentation with our new lender), and the organized the signing of the document with Old Republic Title Company. Given the current COVID situation, we agreed to have the signing at our home, in the backyard. Ana, the Old Republic notary contacted the day prior, and on the day of signing, arrived promptly at the agreed upon time. She went over the paperwork, and within 20 mins or so, the entire process was completed. A few days later, when the loan closed, we received the final notification that the loan as closed from Lisa, the Loan Partner for Avenir MP. I cannot speak highly enough for the professionalism of everyone at Avenir MP, from the moment I picked up the phone to call Greg, to the last email received from Lisa, informing us of the loan closure. This has truly been a great experience. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Greg and his team to anyone who is interesting in buying a home, or in refinancing their current loans. I had the pleasure of working with the exceptional team at Avenir Mortgage Planners once again! They helped me obtain the loan on my very first home purchase 5.5 years ago. With interest rates so low, I reached out to Greg to work on my refinance. My refinance team consisted of Greg, Brent, Lisa and Jeremy. Since we re practicing social distancing, our interactions were primarily via email. Greg presented a number of loan options for me to choose from and once I made my selection, the process was underway. Thereafter, each email I received was very clear and concise, listing documents needed or tasks to complete. During the course of the refinance process, I would receive status updates from at least one member of the team if not two. Total time to complete the refinance was 6 weeks starting from my initial email inquiry. And to think I dreaded going through the refinance process. Greg and team made it very simple. Refis are a pain, Ive gone thru several. Wasnt planning on another refi but the drop in rates was compelling. Researched several mortgage brokers/lenders and happened upon Avenir. Spoke to Greg. I tend to think I have a good idea of what Im doing when it comes to refis and I found Greg to be analytically sharp and professional. I decided to work with Avenir. End result - smoothest and least arduous refi Ive gone thru, it wasnt bad at all, lol. Electronic submission thru secure portal, Docu-sign, and knowledgeable & responsive communication, all helped to make it seamless. Low low rate, closed in 3 weeks. Actually no in-person meetings, except for the notary. Kudos to Greg and his team, Brent and Lisa. Ive already recommended Avenir to a real estate agent friend of mine.

They where great people, one of the most polite and patient people i have meet. Never pushing us into something we didnt want or giving us false hope. The whole team is just amazing. I bought my first home a little over 10 months ago and already did a refinance because the rate they offered to me was very appealing. They were able to close quickly and did not require too much information or hassle. They were also very straight forward and honest during the process and did not pressure me in any way. I have nothing but positive things to say about Avenir Mortgage Planners. Last year they helped us with our primary loan during a home purchase. The process was smooth with clear communication at every step of the way. Recently Avenir contacted us to notify us that rates had dropped and that we might be able to save money with a refinance. I will not do justice to the quality of service that my family received from Avenir Mortgage Planners. Greg, Brent, and Lisa went well beyond our expectations. Every idea and question we had was taken seriously. Greg would do the numbers to look at the various scenarios we had available to us and he would show us exactly what the best course of action would be. For us the decision was between selling or refinancing. Rather than going on blind hunches, Greg provided hard numbers which made the decision clear and easy. But the help did not stop there. Greg was also able to find a way for us to reduce our overall monthly expense by almost a thousand dollars. Never in our wildest dreams would we have thought a change in mortgage could produce such a result. Later, as the process continued on we found ourselves in the midst of complications that slowed things up. The team at Avenir were more than understanding and patient with us. Brent made it clear that he intended to help us through the entire way, and that we were not making added burdens on him. That kind of care for people is seldom seen anymore. I have worked with Avenir Mortgage before and have referred them to others looking for a mortgage, all with excellent results. This time they went so far above and beyond what I would expect of a mortgage broker that Im just blown away. I had been looking for a home to purchase for almost a year and, of course, found one the night before I was leaving to go out of the country for three weeks to a country with sketchy wireless and web. The night before I left I found the perfect home and got an accepted offer. I was in a panic! I had kept Brent and Elice in the loop over the months so they had all my basic info. They took this and ran with it. By the time I returned home I had a new home! They did this in less than three weeks. I needed to refinance my home in a relatively short time frame last spring. I also have a unique income situation with a mix of short term employment and independent contractor work. After spending time searching through tons of online mortgage brokers, starting paperwork, giving up when I got to the income verification section, and receiving annoying sales calls, I finally started looking for a local broker. I found Avenir Mortgage Planners in Pleasant Hill and Im so glad I did! I called up Greg and we quickly set up a meeting. He and his team, Brent and Lisa, made my difficult situation fairly painless. They were extremely patient with me as I got the necessary documents to them, they took care of all the hard stuff I didnt want go through with the online brokers, kept me up to date and on time with everything, and got me a no cost refi at a great rate. Fast forward six months and my wife and I find ourselves considering making an offer on a home very spur of the moment on a weekend. We hadnt been pre-approved for a loan, but after a phone call to Greg (on a Saturday nonetheless) he was able to get a pre-approval letter by the time offers were due that Monday at noon. I was really impressed that he went to all that trouble to make that happen so fast. While we didnt end up with that house, a couple weeks later we ended up in a similar situation and Greg came to the rescue again. This time our offer was accepted and the Avenir team worked seamlessly with us and our realtor to get our loan funded in a short period of time. We were even able to close a week early because I had to be overseas for work when the original closing was scheduled. I cant recommend Avenir enough. They were awesome and really went above and beyond to help me refinance and then qualify for a new loan with my non-typical income situation. They will be my first choice for any future business, and I wouldnt have a moments hesitation to refer anyone who needs help with their refi or other mortgage needs to them.

After realizing what a daunting process refinancing could be, I reached out to a trusted family friend for a mortgage broker recommendation and thankfully was introduced to Patrick from Avenir Mortgage. My fiancé and I were in our twenties when we purchased our house a couple years ago and we mostly nodded and shrugged our way through the process. Everything worked out until we were interested in refinancing. FHA refinance, conventional refinance, fixed interest, supplemental taxes, escrow accounts .it was overwhelming. It was Patrick s patience, professionalism, and genuineness that confidently allowed us to refinance in a way that made sense for us. Through email, text, or over the phone Patrick was always available to walk us through the process. At one point I said to him, I have no idea what to do, what would YOU do? and he honestly and thoughtfully weighed the pros and cons as if it was his own house he was refinancing. I cant say enough about the stellar service I received from Greg, Brent and Lisa at Avenir Mortgage. They are THE reason we are in our new house, because they closed our loan in 12 days (yes - closed our loan and we had the keys in 12 days!). We were competing with an investor who had mostly cash and offered the sellers a 12 day close. Greg promised that he could close our loan in the same time frame, thus making us competitive. We used Avenir on the recommendation of our real estate agent when securing a mortgage for our new condo in Walnut Creek, and could not have been more pleased with their performance. Greg, Brent, and Lisa were all extremely informative, attentive, and helpful, responding to inquiries in a (very) timely manner, offering clear answers to even unclear questions, and providing useful advice at every stage of the process. Our loan was (luckily) not a huge one, but we could not have asked for better service -- there was no sense at all of being a small fish so to speak. Greg helped me for my first home purchase. Being foreign, everything was even more complicated for me. I worked with several mortgage brokers and I can affirm that Greg had been the most involved of all. He explained every steps and costs in detail where other tend to avoid mentioning some hidden fees and provided documents with many detailed loan options. Being a first time home buyer, if I was thankful for something besides my house, then it was having Greg and his team as my Mortgage Planners. From the first time we spoke, he was very clear and upfront about my expectations and my requirements. At the very first meeting, he explained to me the entire process of buying a house, including steps in which he was not involved. He went above and beyond in explaining and guiding me through the process. I had a tight budget to work on and he made sure he got the best for me out of it. He kept up to his promises, and got me the best interest rate for my house. One quality that I really liked about Greg was that he did not quote low just to get me as a customer and then backed out from what was promised. His approach was this is the maximum Varun but I will work hard to get it as low as possible. True to his word, he gave me the most reasonable costs and was very transparent. He and his team were excellent when it came to following up. They always kept me up to date on the progress. They were always available for the 50 million questions that I had. Another quality that I really liked was his attention to detail. He would pick on the smallest nuances to ensure I would not land up in trouble in the future. I would highly recommend Greg as an excellent Mortgage planner and am sure to come back to him if I ever decide to re-finance or purchase my next house.

The team at Avenir is absolutely fantastic! My partner and I found a house we wanted really quickly (we went to one open house and decided to put an offer on it... i know, i know). Of course, we werent pre-approved and, frankly, we only had a rough idea of what we could afford. Since the housing market in Oakland is bananas, we expected the process of finding and buying a house to 1) take years and 2) be extremely intimidating. Low and behold, with the patient guidance and help from Greg and Brent at Avenir, we got keys to our very first home in Oakland just one month after we visited that open house. I cannot say enough kind things about this team. They were incredibly quick to respond to email questions. We have always had difficulty with mortgages as we are self employed. Most groups wont even give us the time of day, and if they do, the process is incredibly slow and the rates really high. Greg and his team werent phased at all... they got us a great rate and we were closed in a little over one month...Ive already given their name to several of my friends. Thanks for making it so easy! We found Greg through our real estate agent, Nancy Bennett, and were forever grateful that we did. We bought a second house for the first time, and Greg and his team were incredibly helpful, responsive, and creative in providing us with funding solutions. Originally, we had used another mortgage broker, who had trouble helping us because of our complicated situation. After weeks of trying, we had to give up on them because they simply couldnt provide us with any good financing solutions. But after a single call to Greg, he solved all of our problems and worked incredibly quickly to secure the financing that we needed with a variety of flexible options. To make things even more complicated, the first house that we bid on and secured funding for had the deal fall through. But Greg and his team quickly picked up all the pieces and were immediately ready to help us on the next house that we bid on and we finally got. Greg offered us many different financing options and very patiently explained all of them to us so that we could make a well-informed decision. We were so pleased with our experience financing our second home that we also refinanced our first home with them and couldnt be happier. We were the first time home buyers and were very nervous to make this step. Greg helped up to understand the process patiently describing each step with examples and options during multiple sessions. We were able to complete the purchase on time with a better rate we found ourselves (we got 5 quotes online). We never felt any pressure to make a decision. We sent our first email to Greg on July 15th. Shortly thereafter, we were preapproved and on August 19th, we signed the mortgage documents on our first home. Not only was Greg able to secure us a loan with less than 20% down and no PMI, he was able to do it on a tight schedule. He squeezed us into his schedule the day before a 3-week vacation to France to meet with us, and worked with us on his vacation to make sure we had all of our questions answered during the process. I look forward to being in his system that he has to automatically notify us if it becomes favorable to refinance.

My situation was complicated because I wanted to keep my current home as a rental. I spent over 4 months working with 3 other loan brokers and all three concluded that I couldn t qualify for a loan unless I sold my first home. Working with Greg and team at Avenir I got pre approved within two weeks, and they worked closely with me through the purchase of my new home to make sure I would not only submit an offer, but be qualified as a good buyer. Greg is a great person to work with. He has your best interest at heart. I had called earlier in the year about a refi and he told us the rates were not good, it would not be worth it for us. Later this year he called us to let us know of a great opportunity as the rates had dropped. With no out of pocket expense he reduced our mortgage by $175 per month with a lower fixed interest rate. Greg and Emma Lartilleux are the mortgage specialists for you! As a first time homebuyer, I knew nothing about how to get a loan, and Greg walked me through every step of the way. Whereas other banks just asked me what type of loan and amount I wanted, Greg actually explained to me the pros and cons of the different types of loans and also gave me a detailed analysis of the fiscal benefits of each loan. At the end of our many conversations (he was always available and I never felt like was hurrying me or pressuring me one way or another), I felt like I really knew what I was getting into. Indeed, he listened to my long term investment goals and helped me make the right decision for me instead of what would net him the most money. I am so very blessed in the Client services of Avenir Mortgage Planners. My husband and I met Greg and Emma in March 2014. When I decided to start buying a condo, I contacted several Mortgage planners. None of them knew how to differentiate themselves from the others, it was hard to make my choice and to trust. It was after speaking with Greg that I quickly made the decision to work together. After speaking with him for an hour, I understood the whole process we embarked on together. Ive used Greg for my initial mortgage and just completed a refi with him as well. Greg did a fantastic job securing a low rate on our initial mortgage. In addition, he caught a mistake in the original loan documents that would have cost us a chunk of money. Then a few years later he saves us another chunk of money by securing an even better rate for a refi. Obviously hes detail oriented, but Gregs also great to work with and took time to walk through the process and ensure we really understood what we were getting into.
