If I could give this place less than one star I would. I had a small financial emergency and my husband and I decided to pawn my engagement set. This is a $5,000 set from Helzberg Diamonds - a pear shaped set with 1 3/4 ct. diamonds set in platinum.
I only needed $450 for our financial emergency and the gentleman who looked at my set was like “ohh the price of platinum is wayyyyyy down right now and it’s just not worth it - I can do $250 and I’m doing you a favor.”
What a joke.
The market value of platinum is $999.50 per Troy ounce right now…..
Not to mention the diamonds ALONE cost more than $450….

I was absolutely appalled at the lack of education and customer service.

DO NOT go here if you plan on receiving a reasonable offer to a valuable item in a time of need.
You will be low balled. You will not be taken seriously. Your item will be valued as “ehh we are doing you a favor” as opposed to the actual job of a pawn shop..
Just save yourself time and go literally anywhere else.

Blatantly allowed fraudulent activity to happen with identity theft, and then played dumb when I tried to resolve it. Showed no interest in working with me and my situation. Clearly lacking in morals and care for upholding the law.

Be wary of these guys.

Edit (response): I already talked with authorities and spoke with a member of your team to explain the situation and they were completely unwilling to work with me to resolve it. Identity fraud should be taken seriously, and people should know that its been handled in a callous manner.

Originally this place was great, i used it and picked up the jewelry i pawned. Since then it has become a waste of time they lied to me so many times about the gold I have brought since they turned to a waste. Dont waste your time here you might accidentally believe your gold isnt gold and take a loss. My gold is real. Your pawnbroker/machine/acid tester needs fixing.

DO NOT COME HERE. I was a regular, sold them jewelry on multiple occasions. Then, after awhile they start giving me attitude, saying Im wasting their time when IVE BEEN A REGULAR. They try to rip you off with a low price and when you try to bargain for a better price, they get angry. They do give better prices than the other pawn shops but they need to work on their attitude. Especially to someone whos been giving them business.

First time here and never thought I would say I had a great experience at a pawn shop. The staff was very friendly and professional. They gave me a run down of what to expect and options of how I wanted to proceed to get the most out of the transaction. I felt safe during my time there and will return if needed in the future.

Truly awful experience my second time dealing with these guys. They completely destroyed what would otherwise have Been (based on the first experience) a long time loyal consistent customer in one fell swoop. As a side gig I purchase storage lockers at auction and resell the contents, so I often come across high-end items, some of which experience tells me move a lot more quickly in a the storefront environment the buyers can inspect it in person it just moves faster that way. My first interaction with them, I came to on some of my scrap gold pieces to gauge what kind of pricing they give and how they conduct business. The first person I dealt with on my first visit was friendly professional and knowledgeable and gave a very fair price for the scrap that I brought in. The second visit on the other hand was an epic fail. I had purchased a locker that happened to have some very high-end designer bags in it (ysl, dulce Gabbana, and Kate Spade (brand new tags still on them). Before I even made it to the counter, literally 10 or 12 ft away walking up I was greeted by a very aggressive very rude and LOUD young Latin kid who is all of maybe 19 to 21 years old barking at me and loudly demanding to see original sales receipts, insisting that they never take anything without proof of original retail purchase, and where when and for how much it was purchased (which I already know to be false because not only have I conducted business with this establishment before, but that is absolutely not a policy that any store that purchases items for resale from customers has in place, its just contrary to the business model).. While politely and professionally attempting to explain to this kid that the items were part of a storage locker auction purchase meaning that would be impossible, that I already know thats not your policy because Im a returning customer and because its simply not the policy of any store of this nature that ever existed anywhere - I was rudely and aggressively interrupted by him screaming at me that they arent going to buy my s*** without the original receipt PERIOD (EXPLETIVE UNCENSORED}.. yelling at me that he thinks I stole something! I have never felt more disrespected in my entire professional life, I am a college educated adult man who spent more years than he has been alive working two or three jobs to save up to be comfortable, Im there in a professional capacity conducting business with the store that would enrich mentally myself but also the very store that employes this remedial child - he has the temerity to scream at me like Im some pilfers street trash?!? By the way, at no point during the entire interaction did anybody take a look at o even touxh any of thevbags, for that matter they didnt come within 3 ft of them so no inspection was made whatsoever. I will be taking my YSL, DG, and Kate Spade as well as my Gucci LV Chanel and Prada along with my gold to other stores going forward who do not have employees that think its okay to talk down to people and scream at them unless one of two things happens A) the kid is gone and only people with decent attitudes remain Or B) I get a face to face sincere apology on the same retail floor that he pulled that on in front of just as many customers this were there, one that I believe, and the only words I hear from him going forward are yes sir thank you sir. Edit: there is no other method of replying to answer the owners response question, so here goes: I was never given a name of the employee, the interaction in its entirety was less than 2 minutes from the time I opened the door to the time I left, the items will never even touched or in any way inspected it was a very young guy somewhere between 18 to maybe a young-looking 23, thin build, black hair, I believe he is latino, was wearing a white shirt and hat yesterday (October 2nd) and I was there sometime between (Give or take 30 min in either direction) 4:30 -5:30 pm - your surveillance footage (Im assuming you have plenty of cameras) should reflect this

Been going here for years to pawn this or that and have always come back for my items. Went in recently to pawn a camera, was very disappointed when they offered me $350 for a camera worth $1,800 used. I asked if they could do $400, they said no and returned my items to me, told me I could go check out a different pawn shop. So I listened, went down the street to United pawn brokers and they gave me more than I was looking for. If you have anything of value and want a respectable price for your item, I suggest going to United pawnbrokers on vine!

I had to pawn some music gear to be able to make rent. I googled and found Zak s. It was my first time pawning any gear and I felt anxious and ashamed. Just moved out here to Los Angeles about a year ago. I had got in a little pinch with some bills and I needed a wick loan for a few days to pay some bills and I started to looking a online and I found this place. I read nothing but great reviews. I came in and spoke with Pedro and they even gave more than what they normally would for what I had just to help me out. Best place for affordable jewelry gifts! I called and spoke to Pedro about a necklace for my daughter for her school graduation. As he said he had the right necklace, and even had a variety to choose from. After the purchase Pedro asked her favorite color and came back with a fancy gift box for the necklace of that color. They strived that I be very happy with the purchase price, and packaged it for me perfectly. They were very attentive and had the best customer service for my need. Thanks Zaks s Pawn Shop!

Dont bring nothing to these people. The second time I took a collateral-based loan on my laptop from Zaks Pawn, they insisted that my computer be unlocked in order to secure a collateral-based loan. A blatant disregard for my intellectual property (works of the mind, literary and artistic works, and access to my workplace credentials/subscriptions.) Im not supposed to walk away from my work computer without locking it! Unacceptable. With the recent surge in cybercrimes (identify theft, CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN and UNSCRUPULOUS STAFFING). A pawnshop with up to 9x people behind the counter at any given time. I was unable to secure a collateral-based loan for securing my sensitive information.

Not proud of it but these guys always come in clutch when I m a little overzealous at the card rooms. Pedro is always a pleasure to talk to when I m trying to rush back to my table.

First time coming to Zaks pawn shop and spoke to Carlos on the phone he gave us great direction and informed us they were open 24 hours and to come in whenever and someone will be there. Carlos was way fair and gave is a more than what we expected to get. Definetly going to come back again. 5 for sure.

One of the very best Pawn Shops I ve came across. Excellent customer service , thanks to Pedro for helping me and my boyfriend out EVERYTIME we come inside. I have been a customer at this place for 15 years there is nothing I cant tell you about this place. The staff led by Damian and Raphael do there jobs well they are for the most part efficient friendly honest and invested in the jobs they do. They dont mark time and they are usually accommodating. I dont know of anyone who has ever had a bad experience there and I buy from them often 2 times in fifteen years I was not pleased and the staff did what it could to make me happy. Lately their sell department has been a little off but lets call that a pan demic related choice The guys who work here are honest enthusiastic conversational and customer service friendly. I have been a repeat customer there fo so long for just those reasons and i sense ibwill win that raffle.......one day

I have been to several pawnshops and let me tell you Ive never been to a pawn shop thats so professional and honest and polite greeting and communicating skill are 5 stars. I approached a young man named Rafael and he was very kind and a people person he was very patient with me and had some amazing conversations hes a real nice guy and represents the company very well and also the manager Pedro was also A great and professional personal and both of them make a wonderful team I strongly recommend coming to this pawnshops theres a reason why this pawnshop beens open for 30 plus years ....
