Another great experience. But this time, at the service department. Marcos (Service Consultant) and Ian (Service Manager) were so patient with me and my car.
Brought my car for a check up on the brakes. They took the car in, no hassle (Still under warranty). Very honest people from what I experienced. They fixed up the car, plus other issues that were just popping up. The auto technician working on my car was great, very knowledgeable and helpful as he fixed future possible issues.
This carmax is definitely a 5 stars, sales and service department. Great customer service, great service department, awesome location.

What an amazing experience today at Carmax, Irvine location. What a difference from AutoNation Toyota, also in Irvine.
Carmax had the car that I was interested in transferred from L.A. to the Irvine location this weekend.
Our salesman today was Ardie. Such an amazing guy. No pressure, no sales pushing, no rushing sales, no tension, no hassle. We had a great experience today.
We got there around 5 pm. By 6:45 pm we were already driving off the lot in our new purchased vehicle.
We test-drove a 2015 VW Gold GTI Autobahn and I felt in love with it quickly. He let me do my thing, I checked the car out as long as I wanted. Very patient salesman.

My experience started with Carson. He was very helpful, and courteous. I test drove a vehicle and returned two days later to make the purchase. However, Carson had that day off and Mitchell proceeded to help me out. The High Level of Professionalism and Courtesy that both of these gentlemen displayed speaks volumes to Carmax at Irvine. I wouldnt recommend selling here. I took my vehicle in and they offered HALF of what KBB and Auto Trader appraised it at. I sold it private party for MORE THAN DOUBLE what carmax offered and got the actual value for it. Definitely sell private party or somewhere else.

PLEASE READ **WARNING DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE** I have been waiting so long for this. I had moved and thought the paperwork was gone. Luckily today I found it. Back sometime in 2018 I had purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart for about 15k. It had the nicer package with nice wheels and loud exhaust plus remote start. It was my first car I had ever purchased from a dealership as I was young and was so excited. Knowing this was the car I wanted the next step was to evaluate the cars history as my father was with me and I did not know better. When they ran there version of the cars report, which most company s use Carfax to check the vehicles history, Carmax used a version called AutoCheck to check the vehicles history. Everything came back clean. Signed the paperwork and I was out the door Not until less than a week later my car wasn t starting. Took it in and had a bad battery, replaced it and didn t give me any paperwork. Next week or 2 goes by and my dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree. I end up taking it in and it turns out the my passenger side airbag was never working or even connected from the beginning! They also said they had to order a new wiring harness. So alas my hands were tied thinking how unfortunate but they said they will fix it. They give me a loaner , a baby blue Honda Fit. 2 WEEKS GO BY and I have heard nothing ! I decided I had enough and had a friend in the car industry that ran the VIN # for the vehicle I bought and I was devastated to find that not only had the car been in both a front and rear collision but was also submerged in water from flood damage. Obviously after finding this out I took my findings to the dealer and sat down with the manager of the store. He told looked me in the eye and said sorry you signed the paperwork saying that Carmax showed you a vehicle history report coming back clean(even though it had front and rear damage as well as water damage) and there was nothing he could do. Finally 3 weeks later I ended up getting my car back only to have another problem that the car would randomly shutoff while driving. I had enough and took it to Carmax and demanded that the give me my money back. After being told no multiple times they agreed to by it back but not refund me my money, at the time I had a balance of a little over 11k left. They gave me a trade value of 9k. After being sick to my stomach with this whole disaster I just wanted to get away from it. I agreed and sold the car. I literally lost between 3k-5k from Carmax because the vehicles that they claim they so meticulously inspect and make sure they do all the history checks before they buy a car from anywhere to resell to there customers was a ABSOLUTE PILE OF CRAP. I will never be a Carmax customer ever again, and I strongly try to discourage people from ever going near Carmax with the unfortunate experiences I had.

I recently bought a car from CarMax in June 2024. The car started to burn oil after the 10 days return policy they had. After that it has been having consistent burning oil where I had to pour more oil every 2 weeks. I shouldnt have to be doing it if the car was a 2019. About 1 month into the car, it was making a knocking rattling noise that became more consistent when you hit the gas peddle. I took the car in for an oil change x2 at my own mechanic shop and every time they did the oil change, my dip stick was not reading oil or didnt have oil on it. Keep in mind I only had this car for 3-4 months. I called CarMax beginning of September due to the problems still happening. They basically turned me away and told me to go to the dealership. Super super poor customer service. I spoke to the Service Department manager I believe his name was Rick and he was super rude about it. I would avoid coming to this Carmax location. If you want Poor Customer Service definitely come to this location. If you want a car that will start having problems after the 10 days return policy then come to this location.

After paying 21000.00 for a 12 year old Honda crv which is 3000.00 over blue Book, I called the service dept because the Bluetooth menu was not coming up. They first try to tell me that I was probably not pairing it correctly. I told them again that the phone menu was not coming up and the phone buttons on the steering wheel did not work either. They told me that my phone was probably not compatible. I told them again about the menu and the buttons. I finally brought it in the car to the Irvine service dept. and they could not get it to work with their phones saying none of them were compatible. I went to a Carmax in Riverside and took an identical car for a test drive to test the phone connectivity and it worked perfectly. The menu came up, the buttons worked and the phone paired easily. The service personnel just refused to admit that there was something wrong with the radio. I am very disappointed with their service and am forced to purchase another radio. The Bluetooth is very important to me.

Wait for a week for a shipment and when it s arrived, they text me that there is a title issue and no one check it during the shipping process. The car will go back to Nevada store. So, my day is ruined and now I have a limited time to come up with other options.

Let me start off by saying this has to be the absolute worst car buying experience ive ever experienced in my life. I had an appointment for 8pm as I did the express checkout where you submit all the documents prior to get verified before you come in. This was a waste as I had to re do everything I did online in store. No one spoke to me until at least 9:30pm and only because I got up and asked when I would be next. Fast forward everything was already verified I had an issue with the sales rep Jose, all of my income and bank statements had already been verified. I had to wait almost 2 hours for this guy to go through every single transaction on my bank statements to try to tell me my income was less than it actually is. I only used one of my personal accounts but I told him I own a business and im self employed and make PLENTY of money far more than needed for the vehicle. He argued me for almost an hour tying to tell me they cant accept my business income which is unheard of since I am the sole owner of my home remodeling business and pay myself. He claimed the finance company would make an acception and do the deal. Finally around 11pm I got the Jeep and the purchase was done. Fast forward 2 weeks to now the same sales rep Jose is calling me saying the bank cant accept your bank statements from your business and we need to have you come back in to resubmit all the documents again like what? You cant be serious right now. So now im dealing with a situation where I have a car for almost 2 weeks and now they are trying to have me come back in to re do the deal absolutely unacceptable....Horrible Horrible place

I recently purchased a used 22 Camry from Jeffrey and Kwesi here at CarMax. They were both helpful, professional, and knowledgeable about the car-buying process. When I brought in a better financing option from my bank, they didnt try to convince me that CarMaxs was better. They werent pushy about the CarMax warranty either (although you should research this before you buy, its actually not a bad deal). The car I bought had under 11K miles at time of purchase, and it was reasonably priced. I appreciate CarMaxs transparent approach when it comes to pricing. I dont have to worry about whether or not Im getting a worse deal than the other customers. While you may be able to negotiate lower than CarMaxs prices at some dealerships, its worth the peace of mind for me. They will take off the CarMax stickers and license plate holders if you ask! They also take care of the required DMV paperwork, which is a nice bonus. Kwesi and Jeffrey helped me coordinate with Enterprise to easily return my rental vehicle also, which was really above and beyond service on their part. This is the second time I have purchased through CarMax, and Im very happy I came back. Overall, great experience. Pro tip: While you cant reserve a car, you can reserve it online for a test drive. They wont show the vehicle to other customers until youve taken it for your test drive, which can help buy you some time to secure financing or whatever you need.

This car max location is the worst. The salesman Alan was friendly and helpful. So we decided to buy the car and we had to show proof that we had money in our account for the down payment. My wife has her own business so she brought a check from the business. The manager Jose came over and he is a very lousy manager he did not want to work with us and he needed to see and make sure the money was in the account. He needed to see on the banking app to see the funds were in there but the app was down nobody at the bank answered the phone so my wife logged in remotely to her computer at work to verify funds and it was in real time but this manager would not accept it which did not make sense. So as our experience goes i have way better experiences at going to a dealership this was suppose to be easier and was not. This place has shady business practices and a manager who does not care and is not interested in working with people so this place lost out on a sale because of poor management. I hope this review will help someone out so they won t have to go through what we did also this place will let you pay with a check and not a credit card kinda weird. Beware this place does sell cars that have been in accidents, the manager Jose is the worst, don t know how this person was able to be a manager, he needs to be retrained or find someone else who is qualified and knows how to deal with people.

Overall I am happy with the car I bought a jeep it is a beautiful car What Im not happy about is when I brought my cashier check deposit they asked me to pull up my bank record that shows I bought this cashier check???? Which threw me off the lady literally had her nose in my phone. Scanning my private bank records. At the time I didnt think much of it but in retrospect i feel they believed I was committing some kind of fraud? It made me feel weird inside but I just wanted my car and I was tired from work so i brushed it off Ive always loved buying cars from them mostly the carmax of buena park. Which had the best customer service, but they didnt have the jeep my wife wanted so I ended up here in Irvine. Never again.

Im active duty military and gave my father permission to sell my car a 2013 chevy sonic back in 2020 because I was stationed across the country. After looking through my record I noticed this location priced it out and labeled it as a 2013 chevy spark which is a cheaper vehicle and brought down the sale price. This truely struck a nerve with me because you took advantage of a man who didnt know the car and I could not be there to correct it. You have lost a customer for life.

Hello, just a piece of advice, dont buy Dodge cars, Jeep, the service department says that they dont service those cars because they dont know, they dont have mechanics for those cars and when you buy an extra warranty it doesnt work, theyre the Culver thing so you can be careful, buy two cars and they dont want to give me the service because they dont know what mechanics they will have that they cant fix two such popular brands it hurts carmax your employees make a diler to think about those of the specific service the only thing left to do is cry about the treatment that I have experienced so many people and all my family buying car with them for this deal

Understaffed. Wait times are long just to have someone help. Walk-in, waited over 30min at 11am on a Wednesday and left. Second try made an appointment 2 hrs before arriving and still didn t have someone available to show us a car 50 min passed the appointment time. Left and never drove the car. If your time is valuable to you find another option.

Kinda wish that half star reviews were a thing. I purchased a vehicle at Costa Mesa Carmax and had a positive experience with Balkar. He was very attentive even after purchase. I brought up a negative experience I had with Irvine carmax where he sent me for a car detailing and an issue with the tire pressure that couldnt be fixed day of purchase. I live in Laguna and closest dealer to me is Irvine . I called to schedule appointment to bring in my car but customer service in Irvine was unbearable. I spoke to service person and from the get go he was rude, inpatient and basically told me to go back to Costa mesa. I mentioned to him that I was trying to figure out if I even want to keep car since still under the 90 day warranty. I also purchased extended max care for the record. It just really sucks that people in the customer service industry dont understand a certain tone of voice is required. People are not buying $100 cars. No. Paying paying thousands so, treat us as such. Im disappointed and will be driving to Costa Mesa just for this reason alone. Farther from me and more inconvenient but customer service is key.

Salesman was professional and knowledgeable. Truck was a fair price except that I have to take the truck to dealer for a uconnect error reading. This was an issue from purchase and I think it should have been resolved before purchase. The dealer will have the truck for 2-3 days, an inconvenience for sure. Right front tire has a gouge in the sidewall from time of purchase which was shown to CarMax service and was told it was not an issue, my mechanic and I disagree with this decision by CarMax. Made an appointment a few minutes after they opened for 3:30 PM to check out and test drive a vehicle. Drove 1 hour to get there just to find out that the vehicless battery was completely dead and wasnt able to start. Also no mechanics were there to work on it so i was asked to come back a different day. Frustrating that I wasted my time and gas driving all the way down there. You would think if you make an appointment for a test drive they would have the car ready for their customer when they arrive but they obviously didnt bother to have a look at the car I was interested in purchasing. They also didnt offer me any form of compensation for wasting my time and gas. I normally wouldnt mind but this place isnt anywhere close to where i live!

I found a car I wanted to look at on line at CarMax and requested it be sent to my local CarMax. They kept me informed of its delivery and set an appointment for me to see it. With NO pressure to buy it, I was giving all the facts about it and agreed to come back the next day to purchase it. I was in and out in 1.5 hours with a very pleasant experience. Went here shopping for a car. Some observations. 1. Show up for an appointment or expect to wait a long time. 2. Haggling is not going to happen under any circumstance. 3. When you buy your car, most dealerships will charge you around 11% to cover the cost of Taxes, DMV, License and Registration. CarMax, with the pricing data I received, will charge 15%. THIS IS A HUGE AMOUNT that is non-negotiable.

Everyone was friendly... But I was lied to. Car was either NOT checked out for safety basics of a long drive, or the guy checked things and just didnt bother to note it or fill fluids. When leaving the sales lot, I had a 1200 mile drive home and they were very well aware of that, and told me repeatedly that they had someone do an inspection for all safety items. The oil light came on, nothing on the stick. While im under the hood on the side of I5 during peak traffic times, I go ahead and check other things. Coolant in the reservoir was non-existent, and the washer fluid bottle was also empty (and couldnt be filled because it was blown out). Had the car inspected by the shop I use back home and there are 14 red line items. The local store also uses the same shop as I do, and they have agreed so far to fix a couple things on that list, but if the major things arent all taken care of, then I wont be keeping the car. I was told the vehicle had no issues to declare or note to a buyer, and these things are definitely something that a person should be told about (especially a solo female driving 1200 miles away as soon as its picked up!). Additionally, my shop found that there was accident damage and things had been replaced, but this info did not come up on the CarFax I ran, so either the Irvine stores technician team isnt very good, or the sales team lies about things like this to make a sale.

Terrible experience. I had a 24h test-drive confirmed at this location by two separate people that I talked to when setting up the appointment, as well as a text confirmation (I wanted to make sure beforehand, since I live 1.5 hours from the location and not all vehicles are available for this test drive). I got to the location, was checked in, and then told that they dont do the test drive for the vehicle I had reserved as the car doesnt qualify, even though they specifically told me before that the vehicle is available for the test drive. An absolute waste of time - they do not stand by anything they tell you.

We got a good quote on our 10 year old Prius while I roamed around looking at the hundreds of cars they have for sale. Ending up buying a car from a different source, but took our Prius back and sold it in a very painless process. CarMax is a wonderful business, taking all the stress out of selling a car, which I used to dread.

CUSTOMER BEWARE I got an online quote through Edmunds for my 2018 Ford flex and it showed $21,500 was what Carmax was offering. I brought my vehicle to Carmax for the final appraisal and I was told that my vehicle was only worth 13,500. Considering that might be true they are entitled to their opinion however I was also told that my vehicle which has never been involved in an accident as I am the only owner. My vehicle is involved in an accident in 2021, which is completely untrue. I was also told that my original two were not original. This is a customer beware because when they offer you a quote through Edmonds or maybe even Kellly blue book it s just an opportunity for them to take a look at your vehicle and it s their way of eliminating intelligence Because I was an idiot and didn t know I would sell my car to them for 13,500 opposed to what the vehicle is actually worth. Easiest way to sell a car, by far. Received a competitive offer online, took the car in within the timeframe and they purchased the vehicle after an inspection/appraisal for the amount they scoped initially. I liked how I got a great deal without having to personally post, review, have someone come to my house to look at the car, etc repeatedly should I have sold it myself. Carmax was excellent and everyone there was extremely kind.

So today, I made an appointment to test drive at 12pm and got there. Some guy met me at the front desk and checked me in, told me to check the cars outside and they will phone call me when the car is ready guess what it s 2:40pm right now and still no call or msg and I saw so many people sitting on their desks. I Got My 2013 Toyota FJ on December 19th 2023, First day car got stuck due to battery issue towed the car to the shop replace battery problem solved, shop told me car has lots of rust under the car & lower engine cover hanging & not safe to drive it due to excessive rust they couldnt install the cover back so we remove it, called CarMax they said we can not due anything about the cover but will pay for the battery which the did. Due to heavy rain we found out car smells very bad from inside, took it to the shop they found out from front windshield seal & Corner of Top Molding was leaking for a long time and water was coming inside the car going under the carpet, shop removed everything and fixed the leak along with new windshield, called the CarMax to see what they can do for the cost which is cost me about $3200 of repair, they told me warranties only for 30 days and dont cover anything. Person name on the phone was Nick. just be carful buying car from CarMax, i got my previous car from Carvana and was great experience with them, since Carvana didnt have the fj in stock i got it from CarMax.

I was able to find excellent choices for my vehicle on line. On arrival, I was promptly greeted and arrangements for assessment of my trade-in were addressed. My sales advisor went over other options and presented a vehicle I found even more desirable than the one I had located on line. All in all, it took under 2 hours and I drove off with a beautiful replacement vehicle. Friends commented that it looked brand new!

The overall experience is far better than dealing with any other new car dealership. Salesman was great, process was fast. Downside is there is NO negotiation despite any cosmetic issues, CarMax has done one thing right....BUT....they make it virtually impossible to call anyone for help post sale. One of the cameras on my truck was having an issue within weeks after buying....you may have a 90 day warranty from CarMax, but good luck trying to use it.

I recently visited your store and subsequently had a follow-up call with one of your sales representatives, Emily Velazquez. I feel compelled to share my experience, which, regrettably, was not up to the standards I anticipated. Firstly, during my visit to the shop, I encountered an interaction that felt dismissive. Emily was not willing to say more than several words, and she was clearly not paying much attention to the customer, making the experience less engaging and somewhat unwelcoming. Then, this follow-up call I received from her really exacerbated my concerns. The conversation was marked by a level of unprofessionalism that took me aback. The representative displayed impatience in their responses and, most notably, tried to end our conversation with have a good day before I could even finish my sentence. When I finished my sentence, she said have a good day again and hung up. This lack of basic courtesy and professionalism was disappointing. I hope this review is taken as an opportunity to enhance the training and customer service etiquette. Ensuring that every customer feels heard, valued, and respected should be of utmost priority. This review is for the service department. My vehicle was due for an oil change and a tire rotation the technician immediately noticed my tire was bubbled and not safe to drive on. After speaking to the advisor he recommended all tires be replaced due to the age and condition. The work was completed in a very timely manner, I was kept informed and given an accurate estimate for the work to be completed. The technician went above and beyond and even put a fresh coat of tire shine which made me feel oddly better about the unexpected but very necessary expense. So thank you Jose and Eddie for making me feel confident in going to a service center at a dealership.

This was my first time at CarMax. A friend of ours bought his last two cars from CarMax and said he was very satisfied so I decided to check them out. My daughter went with me and Kwesi met us at the front desk and began to help us. He took us over to his desk and asked what cars I was interested in test driving. He quickly pulled up several cars, showed us pictures and went over the details of the cars.I decided to test drive two, a Lexus and a BMW. I liked them both and left with no pressure to buy. I took my husband back the next day so that he could test drive the two cars and we decided on the BMW and drove it home that day after it was beautifully detailed. Kwesi worked with us through the whole process and answered any questions we had with great clarity. I highly recommend Irvine CarMax and Kwesi who gave us excellent customer service, friendly interaction, and professional and knowledgeable experience. Thank you Kwesi!

I had my vehicle ( a 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness ) shipped to Irvine from Fremont and it was what I hoped it would be! I made an appointment to test drive and felt no pressure. I was shocked with a terrible customer service. I really want management to know about this. This afternoon I visited carmax to sell my Q50 2022 car. The customer service was very bad the gentleman man in front desk said no one is available just give me your number and have your phone with you without any greeting. Ok I waited and an older gentleman with sports outfit showed up and he was extremely rude and super mad and he told me set down it will take 30 minutes to 1 hour to price your car. He was mad and not friendly and I just told him sorry for your time and I left. Whyyyyyy they are not nice

I have never been to CarMax but decided to give them a try. I had a second car I needed to sell. So I made an appointment online and went in on a Sunday. This was very convenient for me. Everyone from the front door to the final signing of the purchase agreement was super nice. The process was much faster than trying to sell it myself and even faster than selling it to an online car buyer. I was very pleased with my offer and sold my second car with ease. I would highly recommend CarMax!

Salesperson, Addison was GREAT to work with. Areas for improvement are the car prep for sale. The 1st car I purchased had crusty dirt on the pedals, layered and crusty dirt on the fixtures inside. Then the 2nd car I purchased 45 days later looked like someone had used a gritty sponge on a side panel - it was scratched and very dull. Which stands out on a car with a well-known clearcoat. Also, the #2 car has worn down brake pads, and have to be replaced soon. Should have been replaced prior to sale.

The vehicle is nice, office is nice, it took somewhat long time to process the purchase but much better than new car dealers, employees, services are okay However there are some downsides, like, The guy helped me to purchase my car, informed me I can reimburse the very first charging cost because the car I purchased was at a very low level of charging, I submitted receipt the charging cost after all vis email but nobody answered. Hands down a great experience buying a car! We all know how stressful shopping for cars can be but let me tell you, car max is it! The sales rep Ray was phenomenal, he asked all the right questions such as type of car, payments I m comfortable with and he made it work. I got a beautiful petal white BMW with chocolate interior and sunroof/moon roof. I mean he really found me the most beautiful car! And the best part is I stood within my budget for my down payment and my monthly car payment was also in my range I gave him. He was so kind, I felt like I was car shopping with a family member! Greatest experience ever!! This is my third purchase from Car Max and they never disappoint! I forgot to mention I also got the MaxCare extended warranty and that was still well within my budget when all said and done! I looooove my car and thank you Ray for being amazing!!!

Buyer beware. They don t really inspect their cars before putting them on the lot. Their inspection is more like making the car look presentable to hide future issues. They told me I could bring in the car during the first 30 days for repairs as needed. Well their service center is open Monday - Friday 9-5 and closed on weekends. How am I supposed to bring my car in for service if I need to be at work to earn money for the car payment? This is deliberate. The oil filter was tightened beyond belief when I first removed it for an oil change. I had to stab it with a screwdriver just to get it off. The housing shell on the passenger side rear view mirror has been hanging loose since the day I bought it. Please refer to their service center hours above. The single key fob provided gave out in less than a year. The serpentine belt was cracked and began to whine when I ran the ac for too long. I had to replace that myself within the first month. The accessory outlet located under the radio has never worked. The accessory outlet located in the center armrest compartment is loose. As a result any bump or sharp turn will cause my Bluetooth receiver to turn off and on. The wiring for the front passenger side turning signal needs to be replaced since it recently started to malfunction. I ve changed the bulb and fuses already. The lock cylinder on the drivers door gave out just this week and I had to get it replaced. To top it all off they work with notoriously dishonest finance companies such as Ally Financial (check them out on the BBB). I have over 30 credit inquiries on my record from that week. I bought a Honda but their salesperson tried to persuade me multiple times to buy a Kia/Hyundai after I explicitly stated that they suffer from enormous security issues which allow for them to be stolen easily. Never again.

Had a really delightful experience here. I had been considering selling my car for a few months and had previously gone through KBB to determine its worth and received some offers from Gimme The VIN and Carvana. On a whim, I decided to go and check the offer from Carmax which was the best one. Stopped in with no appointment and was helped promptly by Steve. Our assessment was on target with the online offer (pleasantly surprised by this, as most other companies presented one thing online and then pulled a bait and switch) so we moved forward and were helped by Jeanette. We stopped by Carmax to look at their SUVs from LandRover to Jeep. The place was packed and looked like the DMV. I asked Emily, the staff member who checked us in, if they were giving something away. She laughed and said there was a wait to speak to a salesperson. That is unusual at a car dealership but they were booming. We gave Emily our name and phone number and walked the lot. There wasnt anything spectacular about their pricing as it was in alignment with Edmonds, Bluebook and industry market pricing but the place was very popular. Their vehicle inventory is very clean, vast in selection and plentiful. We saw quite a few vehicles we would have taken for a test drive and maybe even sat down to talk numbers but the wait was just too much. We decided to go elsewhere and then to lunch. Highly recommended

Most of the cars were in rough condition, lots had mediocre paint and body repair, and the interior of many high-end cars ($50k+) were worn, stained, and had odors. Prices are well over market value, and non-negotiable! Im not impressed at all, total waste of time and disappointment!

You need to watch out for this place. This is the second time I have taken a vehicle here for the value. The first time they said the car had a salvage tile and they wouldnt buy it. This time they said the vehicle isnt running right. We took it straight to our mechanic and they put it on the computer and told us the truck was running right. But a employee which we have the name of but wont publish it, can drive it and tell us something is wrong. Then she tell us the truck has a salvage tile. We know for a fact that it doesnt so we ran a car fax report, Tile is fine!! Heres the best part of the review, they offered us $11,000.00 We listed it right over $20,000.00 and we have several offers already!! Be aware of their tactics

Prior to arriving at the location I was in contact with a sales representative who ran my credit application and sent me screenshots of the interest rates so that I was prepared before taking the drive to Irvine. When I arrived I was told that they had to redo my application and that the result was a higher interest rate.

As a former employee of Carmax I must say I was pretty disappointed with my experience. I now work for a Credit Union in which many of our Members do business with Carmax and I always, advocate for Carmax and their buying/selling process. My mother needed a new car and what I was mostly disappointed with was the condition of a lot of the cars. I had 2 cars transferred and both had deep and noticeable scratches on the paint. Understanding that these are all used we did not bring it up, we just kept searching for another vehicle. After finding another vehicle at a different location within driving distance, I called in 3 times asking to have a sales consultant go out to the vehicle and check it for major scratches. If there were any big scratches that was fine, we would simply look for another vehicle. Again me being a huge advocate for this company, I convinced my mother too keep searching through Carmax and that buying through them was our best option. After finally getting a sales consultant to walk out, he called and told me it was immaculate and had no imperfections whatsoever. I said great! Put the car on hold, got my cashiers check from our Credit Union, and walked into the location ready to make this a quick and easy deal. When being showed the vehicle, not even 5ft away as we walk up I can already see a long scratch along the front bumper ver very disappointing, felt like I was back at a traditional dealership where they tell us what we want to hear and say everything is perfect and butterflies and rainbows. Unless the model has changed, when I worked for Carmax we prided ourselves in being simple and seamless compared to traditional dealerships. I later learned that scratches under 9inches long do not get repainted. Although I do not agree with that policy, I can accept it, just wish the consultant was so hungry to get us in the door that he told us it was immaculate. I write this in hopes that the feedback will be taken back through the appropriate channels to better the experience. I would love to continue my advocacy for Carmax and hope this inspires some change and revive that pride of differentiating Carmax from traditional dealerships we all despise. Carmax has the resources to repair a lot of these vehicles and make the purchase a confident decision. Doesn t feel so good spending $30k on a vehicle and having visitors notice my huge scratch S they walk through the drive way. Only have one picture of one of the first cars we had transferred. Lastly, I will say that I love all the other enhancements made to the paperwork process and the modern touch it has been given from esigning to email with the copies. The people up to top are pushing the process to the future and have to say it was a much needed and refreshing change.
