These guys at Beach City Pawn are some of the most helpful and caring brokers I have ever done business with.
Most brokers are out to see how much they can charge for every and anything they can
I went in to purchase guitar strings even though I needed to replace my whole set up for busking.
Yup, you guessed it. Huntington Beach dirt bags stoled my whole set up. Anyway I let them know what happened and what I was doing and they hit it big with me. They gave me a discount on a mic stand and threw on a 1/4 inch cable for free and now because of them I'll be playing with Amplification again.
So here's to the two guys who helped me out. Next time I'll be sure to get your names

I came to this place seeing the good reviews, but it was a terrible service and experience overall. I came here to have my guitar fixed by their luthier Miguel, but after getting it back I see that he made my guitar much worse and now it doesn't function correctly at all.

I contacted him to see what happened, but I just heard excuses like " we only do minor repairs here" and " I wasn't there the day you dropped it off so I couldn't tell you that I wasn't able to do the work." Then why did he bother taking the repair job if he knew he was not qualified? Now my guitar's pickup switch barely functions, he completely got rid of a tone in the rhythm circuit (my guitar is a Jazzmaster) and he inserted the pickup switch in a very sloppy manner (it was inserted crookedly and not perpendicular to the strings). He justified the sloppy placement by telling me someone will have to open it up anyways so it doesn't really matter how the switch gets placed in. It tells me a lot of what he thinks of his own work.

I do not recommend coming here for luthier services. Miguel refused to give me a refund, apologize or bother offering any sort of solution for his botched job. He absolutely ruined my instrument.

Thanks for getting back to me Mat. In response I have this to say:

1.) Yes, Miguel was not there in person to diagnose the problem himself when I brought it in. However that still doesn't explain why he felt he could still get the job done when he clearly didn't have the ability to do so. As a side note I also didn't know that this was a customized Jazzmaster (I was told it was stock when I bought it used, you were the first luthier I brought it to). Again, this still doesn't excuse why Miguel still went through with it when all he could've done was tell me that he couldn't get the job done. I would've been alright with it, I would've just taken the guitar back and that would've been the end of that. But here we are.

2.) Leaving a screw "loose" is different from placing in a switch "sloppy;" in this case as I mentioned in the review Miguel placed it in such a strange way that now when I strum I would have to flick the knob from an awkward angle. When I was there in person Miguel explained to me that he placed in the switch loosely so that someone else can go in since he couldn't get the switch to work with the pickups. I said it was fine as long as he got the switch working and as long as my guitar had the same functionality as before. I was assured this was the case.

3.) It clearly was my mistake to leave your business without trying out my guitar there first. Miguel said he fixed the switch and everything was working fine except for one of the pickups. It was only when I brought it home that I heard just how badly he messed up. Now my Jazzmaster only works in its "rhythm" mode and if I were to flick it back to normal, the pickup switch he installed doesn't do a single thing and worse yet, my guitar no longer produces sound in this position. When I called Miguel to ask what happened he said "something inside the guitar must've gotten loose while you were taking it home." By the way, when he told me this he let out a small laugh; he clearly was not taking this seriously.

So why do I think a refund is appropriate? I was very excited to get back my Jazzmaster, and I really trusted you guys to get it fixed, not to make it worse than when I brought in. After seeing and hearing the extent of how badly of a job he did with my guitar and how it feels like you guys are trying to paint me in a dishonest light by making it seem I'm leaving facts out, I'm very displeased with this entire experience. This is my first time dealing with a luthier, and quite frankly dealing with you guys has been an awful experience.

Hands down one of the best shops around. Intelligent and friendly staff that will work extremely hard in helping you get your hands on some sick gear. I had Mat help with one of my purchases and he went beyond expectations. Genuinely impressed and extremely happy. If you are looking for equipment and or gear you should def stop and check it out, especially Mat.

this store is very special!

1- inside there you will find a great variety of very interesting things! from musical instruments to some bicycles!

2- the place is very organized, clean and the atmosphere is friendly

3- the staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the products they have! I felt that they almost hugged me because of how kind they are haha.

4- Eric (the owner) is a very friendly and sincere person with prices! He is there waiting to help you!

As a recommendation: they need more web optimization and create an internet sales channel since for entrepreneurs like Eric it would open up many opportunities and they will be able to reach more customers.

I have gone the Beach City Pawn for years, I buy a lot of musical gear, I go there because frankly they have the best prices, even on things like new guitar strings or straps.
I was totally blown away by the kindness of the owner, when he found out I volunteered at a food bank in Los Angeles, as he he donated a violin for one of the children there.
Here is a picture of the little girl smiling ear to ear with her new violin.
When I am shopping for an instrument I go there first, usually end up with the best deal.

Very cool and helpful, until he ripped me off for Lois Vuitton. When I get it back or something like it I will remove this. The worst store ever, do not buy it especially online(buya), it s a scam. After a few weeks of not receiving the product, I called them and they told me they gonna ship it out the next day, and after a week, they still didn t ship it out. I called them again, and they told me they can t find the product, and gonna give me a refund, and I still haven t get the refund yet. They just tryna wast ur time and hope you won t find out and they can scam you. Do not recommend, the worst pawn shop ever existed, disappointed. Please do not buy from them.

Eric and his staff have been EXTREMELY helpful and have gone far beyond the expectations and preconceived notions I held regarding customer service in an establishment such as this. I recently found myself on leave from my job and, in desperation, sought out a loan - levying several items of both monetary and personal value as collateral. Eric and his staff were sensitive in regard to the leveling of pride one may experience in having to seek help in desperate times in a manner such as this and not only loaned me what I needed, they did it with class. One of the employees even offered me a bit of her breakfast(lol) while I was waiting for my transaction to complete on my most recent visit a few days ago. As things return to normal for me and I retrieve my items, Ill eagerly hand over my money to them knowing that it will be used to support a locally-owned small business as well as to help the next person who happens to be in need with both dignity and respect. Thank you to Eric and his team!

If youre looking for a professional, hard-working, and welcoming pawn shop - this is the place to go! They helped me pawn my laptop and was kind enough to be completely forthcoming in their pricing structure - working with me to get the best deal so I didnt have to pay that much more in interest when picking up. When I did go back to pick up my laptop I arrived right at closing time, and without cash. Not only did they direct me to the nearest ATM, they also left their doors open for another 15 mins! Giving me enough time to get some cash then return. Of course when I did get back I realized I forgot my pawn ticket at home - they tell me not to worry about it, and waived the $10 fee. All I can say is Im floored that they went above and BEYOND for a first time customer! It was the best experience Ive had at a pawn shop and I am so grateful. Do yourself a favor and choose this place above all else - they go the extra mile for their customers!

DO NOT your SELL SILVER here. Had 20oz at a then spot price of $28 per ounce. Was offered $4.50 an ounce as if it was twenty years ago. Thats a -700% valuation. They either have zero clue as to what theyre talking about in the silver market; the guy I talked to said Silver isnt hot right now meanwhile the street price on Ebay is $5 more than spot price ($33/oz). Or they are trying to take complete advantage of you thinking you dont have a prefrontal cortex and cant even search the going rate for silver on your own. What a bunch of invalids or crooks.

I went onto the app to get store hours because they were the only pawn shop open near me. I rode my bike 2 miles to check out what they had for tools on my Sunday relax day. They were closed but the ad still says open. You should take this with a grain of sand.

Just bought an Ibanez bass and strap, coffin case, and super sick 90s Fender 300c amp for my brother. Everything is in really great condition, even the amp. Alex was very helpful and informative; also gave us a great deal! I bought my bass here a couple years ago and theyre just as reliable and trustworthy now as they were back then!

This place is trash, the owner is very rude and does not know how to maintain professionalism. I come to own shops all the time to buy stuff for my eBay page and never in all my years have I ever been treated so badly. I do NOT recommend coming here. Price check on eBay before buying! This place is practically double too but that s another story!

ERIC and the other guys have terrible customer service!!! Eric all of a sudden raised the price of my item, then the guy behind me said the price of my items must of went up since yesterday when he got the same thing. When I was told about returning they said I would need to pay for a shelf fee, restocking fee ect. I feel ripped off will not return here.

I brought in some old music equipment to get rid of for the new year. They are very knowledgeable and very friendly. That being said, it is a pawn shop. Dont expect to get the full value of your item. They do a very good job at making you feel like your items have no value. Try to sell online first, Unless you need the quick buck.

I ve been taking my stuff to this pawn shop for a few years now and have never been disappointed. The staff is extremely professional and always takes care of my needs in a quick and efficient manner. The shop has taken items that other pawn shops wouldn t touch (which helped me make my rent payment at least 2-3 times). Clay was extremely helpful with my pawn loan. He gave me a fair price on my equipment and walked me through the process. I came back to pick up my equipment and pay the total and my equipment was in great condition. If I ever am in a bind, Ill be back here to work with Clay.

I went to beach city pawn after I took up playing, looking to buy my first guitar. It happen to be right before they were closing so I assumed I could just see what they had in stock and come back another day to spend more time. Lloyd ended up spending over 30 minutes with me (20 min after closing) to help me figure out what kinds of guitars would be the best choice for me as a beginner. He explained so much about why some are better for certain sounds, the importance of shape/weight/size, and plenty more. I had been to multiple guitar shops, none of which had employees that made me feel comfortable or that they cared and Lloyd did that exactly. I was so impressed by his genuine service and desire to help me out. I did not know much about what to get and thanks to him I ended up with an amazing guitar that sounds so awesome. If it weren t for Lloyd s service, I would have overlooked that guitar. So grateful!!

Great Pawn shop! Walked in to get a loan on a laptop, and received great service from Clay and Victor. Place is clean with nice atmosphere. I got a fair and reasonable amount for my loan. Lots of nice merchandise for sale thruout the store. I highly recommend this shop to sell, borrow or buy.

I have been into Beach City Pawn on several occasions now and have always had a great experience. So far, I have bought a ukulele, a drum, sunglasses, and have gotten a few guitars fixed up. Ian was really helpful, informed, and friendly. He was able to tell me exactly what would be best for my needs and both guitars looked and played wonderfully after Ian worked on them. Don t really share my reviews often because I m usually driving when I am on Maps. But I really want to thank BCP for helping me out when I needed to get a loan on my laptop. Eric rescued me! I live in Los Angeles and a few years back we purchased an amp from this place. My son takes a guitar class in Huntington Beach (dont ask why) and half way here he realized he forgot his guitar at home I remembered this store from a few years ago and asked if they could help me out. They actually lent me a guitar for the hour class free of charge! Couldnt be nicer or more helpful. Thats what I call customer service. Ill totally be back for all of my guitar needs

Everytime I have come in here it has been an awesome experience. Clay and the rest of the crew there are very professional.
