My wife and I used Steve and his team to buy our first place. From the jump, Bayshore was on top of everything logistically. They were always quick to give us updates and advice (when needed). We never thought we would be able to buy this soon but, with their help we were given an incredible rate and loan! My husband and I began our home search in 2020 and met with Steve to understand the process and our qualification amount. As first time home buyers we had many questions that Steve expertly helped to answer. Steve also connected us with JR Phillips to represent us as our agent and after meeting with JR, we could tell how well trusted Steve and his team are.

Steve kept in touch with us for three years until we felt ready to start making offers. He even connected us with someone to help provide a consultation to boost our credit scores to ensure we would get the best rate possible.

Fast forward to 2023, we were finally ready to make offers and after Steve helping us with making a few offers, one was accepted! Whether it was Steve including a video walking us through each line item in our TCA, jumping on a quick call to answer questions, or follow up in a text message, his communication and transparency is unrivaled. Steve helped to closely partner with our realtor to ensure a seamless experience, which was greatly appreciated. Diane went above and beyond including tracking down the reconveyance. Now, a couple years later, I just sold my home and closed a purchase transaction. I was having a negative experience in trying to get refinancing. Some friends recommended I try Steve and his team. I was able to get the process completed in 10 days. What I appreciated most about the team was the assurance that they were available to answer my questions and walk me through what I needed to do. I am 72 and a retired teacher. I was intimidated by the need to complete the process online as well as understanding what information that was needed. A friend and neighbor recommended Steve Hougard to handle our mortgage refinance. Steve and his team were simply excellent. Steve put together a profile of loan options, with graphs and charts to outline pros and cons of each, and walked us through it all so we could make a choice that best fit our financial goals. Once we made our decision, he and his team moved quickly to close the loan. Everything was very easy to understand and accomplish, from reviewing/signing documents online to finalizing things with a notary public. Steve called routinely to update us on the process and check in with us. He and his team were very accessible and responsive by phone, text, and e-mail. Weve refinanced our mortgage with Hougard Loans twice now. Steve and his team make easy what is normally a very convoluted process, and answered not only all of our questions but also all of our text messages and emails. He takes care of his customers. Steve and his team at Hougard Loans, Bayshore Home Loans are beyond the best in the business. As first time homebuyers Steve and his team walked us through every step, sometimes multiple times until we felt educated, comfortable and knew every detail of the lending process. Steve was honest and direct with every step of the process. There were no surprises. We are happily homeowners thanks to Steve and the Hougard Loans team. A big part of the process was working with our loan processor, Diane, who was organized, very knowledgeable and prepared to get the job done as quickly and thoroughly as possible. The whole team treated my husband and I like we were family and we will definitely be recommending them to everyone we know. In San Diego, its hard to turn on the radio or look though the days mail without being bombarded by ads for impossibly low-sounding home loan and refi rates. Thats not, however, where we found Steve Hougard we found him through a personal referral by a friend who had gone through a recent refi and came away impressed. We were impressed, too, with the refreshingly different approach Steve and his team bring to the home-loan process, with diligence, honesty, a personal touch and great rates as well. And by the way, they remember how to treat people like, well, people. Try getting that from one of those lenders putting all their money into radio marketing instead of customer service. Steve has helped us through numerous refis, and hes always shown a personal interest in making sure everything is done right and all of our questions are answered. Home loans can be a stressful process, and I always know were in good hands with Steve and his team.

Steve is a peerless professional. I have literally nothing bad to say about my home buying experience with his company. It was so awesome to have instant access to the guy with the answers. If I had any concerns I would just send a text or call and receive an answer. Steve and his team understood some of the special requirements that come along with supporting a military family pre-deployment, and when my deployment dates got moved he was able to call some people using his extensive network he has maintained through his many years of experience in the mortgage world and still get all our paperwork done for our VA loan before I had to go forward. Not only do I strongly recommend Steve and his team on here, but I will be referring any and all of my personal friends looking to buy a home, and he doesnt have (or need) any referral bonuses to get that. Steve and his team are incredible. I recommend his team anytime a friend of mine mentions that they are interested in buying a house.
