Very rude sales representatives! They called my company asking for a specific person who is no longer with us. When we explained that we weren't interested, the sales representative insulted our employee relaying the message by telling her to stop talking and instead get the person who can make the decision. Had a truck approved for fince with them. Waited a month didn't hear anything.
Called and called and never a return call.
Come to find out that they sold out and never let me know.
Know I'm glad I didn't do anything with them.
I hope the new company dose better then these guys did.
Glad after looking I didn't do anything with them.
They need to get there act together.
Hopefully soon they will become a better place to deal with. They're growing to fast and not taking care of the people.
There's needs to be a personal feeling for this place to help and not make even a number.
That's the bad part of the company.

Nightmare company. VERY misleading and dishonest about fees - something I was purchasing was being repaired before I actually would accept and I was told I needed to pay pro-rated fees for the time leading up to actual accepting the equipment and having the seller funded, adding up to thousands of dollars. Now that the equipment has been accepted and the payment has been dispersed to the seller, they are saying the thousands of dollars I paid in advance are not contributed to the final loan. No one seems to be able to give you any answers for questions, and just pawns you off to the next person.

I have been trying to get their insurance department to accept my COI, which includes everything they've asked for, and they still wont take off the monthly insurance fee. Not only that, I was assured by my account manager that I would be retroactively credited, which no one else will seem to confirm.

Predatory. Fraudulent. Can't say enough about the last year of issue after issue with them. Stay away.

The worst ever. Stay away. Used them to finance a cosmetic machine then the pandemic hit NYC and I was unable to make full payments. Offered to do it over a longer period of time and they refused to negotiate. I never missed a payment, albeit it was not the full amount. And what did they do? Sued a primary care doc whose office was shut for 5 months in NYC and who volunteered at the hospital during that time. But EVERY month they got a payment. Now I have a HUGE judgement against me because of the pandemic. I am a physician who has never ever not met my responsibilities. These are bottom feeders who will do anything for money, no matter what the circumstances. STAY AWAY Cathy Carron MD

If I could rate with negative stars, I would. The salesperson pushed through the contract and I did not take the time to read the contract in detail to discover that not all payments will be applied to the lease schedule. They charge rent for the deposit that does not apply, in addition to the fact that they delay the start of the lease for 3 months to get an extra prefund payment. You are not allowed to talk to anyone but the sales person so getting any explanation is impossible. Run! I would use a loan shark- they are upfront about screwing you.

We have used Balboa Capital for years now. Always made our payments. We are a new car dealership. They snuck in No insurance fee which was an exurbanite amount. When we contacted them-they said no problem-send over the proof of insurance. We obviously we did. But they are still charging us and wont waive the fee....

BEWARE!!! 1. Balboa charged me 400% higher interest than originally promised 2. Balboa demands a deposit which they promise will be returned at the end. TOTAL LIE YOU WILL NEVER SEE THAT MONEY APPLIED! 3. Balboa charged $500 a month in addition to my regular payment citing additional insurance. 4. Balboa charged $500 a month in addition to my regular payment citing it was for Sales Tax - WHICH THEY NEVER PAID. 5. None of their management will return phone calls to any concerns. 6. Look at Balboas legal history. Hundreds of lawsuits including a prominent Retail Chain. YOU WOULD BE CRAZY TO WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. WE TRIED TO GET OUT IN THE BEGINNING AND COULD NOT. Literally some of the worst communication I have ever experienced. Just stopped replying out of the blue after I was supposed to be good to go. Poor experience all together from the company and the sales person, delay after delay in funding, lack of communication, erroneous payments charged to the wrong account, long holds and dropped calls from customer service. Be careful of non insurance fees. Ive used this company for about 7-8 years now, never had an issue before, BUT last year, as every year, on July 2021, I got an email asking for proof of insurance, and I sent it right away, because I was aware of the $199.76 non insurance fee they have, good thing I dont delete emails. My mistake, I didnt look at the invoices or the money that was being withdrawn from my bank account, on May 2022, I realized that Ive been charged for a non insurance fee for 11 payments now, so I looked for the email I sent, just to make sure I actually sent it, and I did, so I contacted them, and explained them the situation, and YES they found the email from July 2021, after doing some investigation, the CSR, saw that they actually received the insurance certificate, but someone on their end forgot to apply it to my billing, so they agreed to credit me for the money Ive been overcharged, but NOW on August 2022, theyre saying theyre only gonna give me credit for only 7 months out of the 11 I was overcharged because my insurance certificate expired in January 2022, BUT they never asked me for a new certificate, even tho it automatically renews every year, this never happened before, and now because someone messed up, Im being charged $799.04 for a non insurance fee, that was the mistake of someone from balboa for not applying it to my billing. Just be careful, my mistake was not looking at what I was being withdrawn from my bank account, but I dont feel I should be paying the $799.04 they didnt credit me. BE AWARE!!!!!!

Absolutely the worst experience Ive ever had. We financed a truck through Balboa Capital and I regret ever giving them an opportunity to earn our business. I will never use them again for anything. They charged us a non insurance fee of over $300 even though we have never ever had a lapse in insurance. I spoke with 2 different representatives and both were of zero help and had terrible attitudes. Besides being condescending they simply regurgitated their policy of reviewing our insurance certificate which would take 10-14 days because theyre busy. Were all Busy! Bad answer and way of handling a customer service issue. All I was asking for is confirmation that they would be crediting the improper fee and they couldnt even provide that. In addition instead of trying to de-escalate the matter I was told that even if they find that our insurance was always in effect that they may keep the fee as a penalty Lastly, they were provided all information requested prior to deducting this fee. Poor way to treat a customer!

Poor loan execution and post-loan service. I did one franchise loan with Balboa. They promise the world, talk a good game, but they fail to deliver. They employ guys in their early 20s who dont understand lending. I get a solicitation call every few months. Always a different guy. High turnover. Loan service department is a bit better.

Never had any problems with this company until I call a few weeks ago. I was calling to ask for extra time on my equipment loan for this month. Im on automatic withdrawal never missed a payment Im reading a few reviews an it seems like thats how a few loans are setup, but After getting a few weeks extension extension I was told if I didnt pay they would mark my account delinquent. Long story short the payment was automatic withdrawn 2 weeks later with an ridiculous late fee which no one spoke to me about Ive been calling about this for 4 days now finally talk to a representative she picked the phone up disrespectful, had an attitude I spoke she didnt. (How can I help)? She could not tell me why I charged a late fee. I asked to speak with another person since she seemed to be having a bad day. That upset her Her exact words were since you wanna talk to someone else lets see if you can get through hung the phone up Ive been calling 4 days now and havent heard back from anybody left multiple voicemails no one returned my call.

I can tell you I was constantly told to LIE TO and MISLEAD Balboa Capital customers about many aspects of their loan contracts! They will keep customer deposits made before you received funds even if you decide NOT to move forward with the loan, mislead how much you will owe at the end of your contracts and give false rates to make you believe you are paying far less than you actually are! THIS COMPANY IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL both to employees and customers alike. Stay far far away and don t get duped by your smooth talking salesman.

If it makes them more money, they dont care about people, financed a truck from Auction 2008, they wouldnt go under 24% apr and truck had a blown motor so they charge a prepay penalty of 25% all in all they made a quick 5k off me, thank you for taking advantage of a smaller company. #covid-19 #fail

To all the small business out there. I need your help. Please share this nightmare as many times as you can with as many people as possible. This is the only way it can be fixed. We bought a septic pump truck using Balboa Capital. It was like someone was pulling each fingernail off one by one. Absolutely clueless on the process of buying a truck in Texas with the titling laws, the insurance process, and all aspects of what was needed from us. Took over 2 weeks to complete the process. Our insurance agent and the trucking company that we bought the truck through was equally frustrated and said that this was the most painful process they had ever went through. After the process was done now we have to come up with over $2000 to pay for the titling which could have been put in the loan but now due to their lack of knowledge we have to come out of pocket for it. I am grateful for the loan, but it was sure painful. If you use them, go into the process with a reserve of patience. 1/22/20 Update to what they have done to us. We were new at this process when we did this equipment purchase at that time. During the lead up to us choosing Balboa Capital (2 years of cold calling from them), they were offering us capital for equipment financing. We were told that we were getting a $1 lease purchase from them. Meaning we were going to pay a little higher interest rate for them to finance this lease purchase and at the end buy the truck for $1 (This is what the salesman told us). The truck that we found cost $28,500. We were willing to take the higher rate since our company at the time was not able to us banks because we had less than 5 years in business. NOW THIS IS REALLY WHAT WE GOT What we got was a lease agreement from them for 5 years and then we must pay them to buy the truck for fair market value at the end of the lease. So, a $28,500 truck is going to cost us around $80K. I will let public opinion decide if this is even fair. We have contacted lawyers and were told that it is not illegal to sign a bad contract. PLEASE HAVE YOUR GUARD UP WITH BALBOA CAPITAL. Even after doing this to us they still call and try to solicit us for more business because we have a good pay history. I tell them this story and the salesmen tell me that I am not the first time they have heard this from people they are talking to. I then ask them to fix it and the standard reply is, sorry they cannot but going forward they are not like that anymore. In the fine print it says that if we choose not to buy the truck and there is a small window/ time frame to let them know. We also must deliver the truck to them in California and are responsible for all repairs during the lease period. We are in Texas. Update 3-6-2020 We came to a financial agreement, so we are adjusting our review. Updated 5-1-2020 I made a change to this review on 3-6-2020 because Balboa Capital would not send us the tile until we changed the review even though the truck was paid for. I had no choice but to change this review. Once I changed the review, they did overnight the title to the wrong address and it took over a week for Fed Ex to find who this package went to. Fortunately for us one of the drivers knew our company and was able to correct Balboas screw up. The payoff contract stated we had to have the truck paid for by 2/28/2020 and we did. On March 3 they drafted another payment from our account for over $2000.00. We talked with our bank and they told us to give them time and they should just refund the money. At the 30 day point we disputed the draft and since Balboa did not respond we were told that there is nothing they could do. On 4/17/2020 I sent an email to Balboa without any response. On 4/20/2020 I called corporate and the same person who I sent the email to, answered the phone. She told me that she saw what happened, but it would need to be investigated and that would take 3-5 days. Then after that is would take another 3-5 days for the payment to be returned. Balboa capital made this a great experience, purchasing our tow truck. The application process was very simple, and Calvin was on top of everything and stayed in contact thoroughly. They have been calling and harassing us everyday for years. They lie and claim our owner was scheduled to speak to them, or had filled out papers for a loan. I would never get a loan from these shysters. Stay away! Run!

Balboa Capital has been an excellent source of funding for our equipment acquisitions for the last 2 years. The teamwork of David White and Tania Ramos is outstanding and we cant ask for a better duo. They helped us through the entire processes and consummated all the four (4) current transactions in less time than any of our previous dealings with other companies. They were very professional and patient in answering all the delicate questions we threw on them with such ease and clarity. I would absolutely recommend them to any company needing equipment financing.

We were limping along with outdated computers and software. I contact Balboa about the possibility of leasing new equipment. Within the day, I was approved. My contact checked in with me almost daily until we got the computers set up, software installed and we were using them. The process was easy. The follow up was outstanding. I used to just go to my bank if I needed something funded, until one day I received a call from Brandon Solomon. He happened to call when I had call the bank on my to-do list and we started talking and it was like I had known him my whole life. So I decided to give him a shot he had an answer for me the following day, and could get me funded in the same amount of time. I am used to my bank taking weeks. I guess you could say im evolving with the times, banks are antiquated and the way things used to be done. I dont have time to waste waiting on the bank, thank you Brandon and Balboa.

I had the pleasure recently of being serviced by Brandon Solomon. What a relief it was to know that this guy was the one to facilitate my transaction. Typically I am a bit apprehensive about doing business over the phone. Not this time around I didnt even think twice. He was so on the ball so receptive and so genuine that I actually referred my cousin to him because she was looking for financing on a truck for her shop. We started using Balboa Capital for our equipment financing earlier this year and have financed two transactions to date. Balboas Tye Malcolm secured financing for each transaction which included some older vehicles and equipment via out of state auctions. Older items can be difficult to finance but Tye made it happen. My $150k-plus equipment loan with Balboa Capital showed up on my personal credit report rather than my businesss, affecting my income-to-debt ratio and resulting in not being able to refinance my home mortgage. Their customer service is non-existent.

Absolute Shisters! Have a lawyer look over your agreement. We have been in business 50 YEARS and have never had a more upsetting experience. These guys are classic small print guys. They are lucky its a 15-hour drive to their office. We will be upgrading our fleet of 12 forklifts this year using another company. boa is a more fitting name because they are snakes! Dont take my word for it. Look up the other pending lawsuits.

Balboa Capital I am happy I avoided not financing with you. My intuition was correct right when your sales manager from enterprise first told me my math was wrong and second time asked me if my calculator was the same as his. 1. I worked hard to achieve my masters at warden. Top ranked business school. 2. I operate a lucrative corporation, which I can inform you with private and major banks that state I am not over leveraged, which was Stated to me by the sales manager in enterprise once he realized I figured out his pre-funding and addendums he was adding to the contract. 3. After this I have personally spoken to 30 past employees who range from account executives to managers and sales managers and gained info which lines up with the 13 current employees who are honest and I would actually do business with if it wasn t for upper management not caring. If you want I am willing to get on the phone and state my facts privately or post links to every piece of data I have gained on reddit. 4. Please be aware if you need to take an unconventional loan from Balboa , if it comes to working capital ( hard money loan) and Balboa Capital is your only option and blue vine cannot help ask for MATT LENT he won t add tremendous percentages or points and decently honest compared to majority of the sales reps there. I have been receiving calls from balboa over 4 years and only 5 sales managers have ever been honest 1 being Matt lent and 2nd being Field Amudson . But avoid if you can ... build credit other ways and than look for the loan.

A sales rep named ANTHONY called me today unsolicited. I hung up on him. He called me back and asked if we got disconnected . I told him no, I hung up on him because I didn t want to talk to him and I asked him not to call back again and again hung up. He called me back AGAIN and I couldn t believe it! He cursed at me and threatened me! I am at a hospital where my father is dying and this JERK had the nerve to do that! He should be FIRED! I would NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AND RECOMMEND YOU DONT EITHER.

On the phone with bank fraud department trying to get my money back Now I am being invoiced for MORE than the amount of the phone system!! This company is scandalous! PLEASE STAY AWAY!! Great team! We have obtained several working capital loans through Balboa over the past 5 years. They are fast, effective, competitive but most importantly they wont BS you which is rare in the secondary lending market. If youre looking for a legit lender you wont get a better deal, thanks guys!

I will never do business with this company... I stupidly had submitted an online request, and a salesman named David continues to leave numerous harassing messages... virtually threatening me, if I dont call him back... And this is the way they attempt to win clients?! He keeps saying, You must call me back! I have an open order that demands your response. This orc should go work for a low-life collection agency. If this is how they choose to deal with a potential client, I cant even imagine what a nightmare it would be if I entered into a business relationship with them. And to the obnoxious sales agent named David, know this. I am collecting every message you leave, and if this continues expect civil legal action from our attorney. In regard to the response I received below... This review was made sometime ago... Google notified me that it had been seen by others... I had forgotten about it actually. The only reason why it shows as being newer is because I went in and fixed a typo today via the edit function. However, what I experienced, I experienced.. and I wasnt the only one.

Funding took too long almost lost a deal because of it. Took several weeks to complete funding and pay everyone involved in the purchase. They avoided my calls and responded with vague info most of the time. I kept getting the run around and false promises every time someone would actually speak with us. I had to borrow money from other sources to keep the deal together. They will keep your deposit if you ask to cancel the funding and go with another bank. Please do yourself a favor and avoid doing business with this group of con artists. Management and staff do not care to respond to obligations to customers once they have all of your money.

I cant give them a 1 but refuse to give them a 3. My sales rep was great he kept me abreast of what was going on and how things were moving forward with my account. I asked to have the account canceled before it even started as the terms were not what I needed or expected. I asked for refund of my deposit and was advised that it could take a week before I get my money back and also that I could forfeit my deposit due to the paperwork I signed even though services were not rendered. I am disappointed about the process!!!

I would recommend Balboa Capital for any loan needs you have. As a small business owner it can sometime be a challenge to be approved . I needed a micro loan to help us secure a new location as well as signage.
