I stopped by this location to get some information and set up an appointment. The doors were locked before 5 pm and Google stated that they were open until 6. The building is not welcoming or informative. I called the number listed on Google and only received automated prompts with no options to speak to a person. It is disheartening to look to a financial institution and not be able to find a real person. This credit union was highly recommended by neighbors and colleagues. I find the status quo in Fairbanks to be lacking and operational under last chance circumspection.

Terrible bank! This bank will not make contact with you or work with you on any matter. Right now I just got back from some training and Im told I have to pay 3k and that they supposedly contacted me (Lie). I asked if theres anything I can do they said no I would have to pay 3k on the spot. My wife is pregnant and almost due so we cannot make it to the hospital a hour away. Thanks Mac!

Horrid service, finished paying off a loan from another dealership, and management forgot to discontinue auto pay on an already paid off loan despite calling to ensure that payments would not continue. Money was not given back since it went towards a loan

Avoid this bank like the plague. I wish I could rate them lower. If it comes to loan processing and getting you locked in as finance cattle they do a fantastic job. Beyond that anyone who picks up the phone is completely useless. They cant provide answers to basic questions and everything by design screws over the customers. Its like they wait for the computer to generate their responses. If you want people who cant think, only see black and white, and could care less about you as an individual handling your money than this is the place to do business.

I have had them for 15 years plus. I am not sure why I ever stayed them tbh. They lock your card randomly, even if you go to that location regularly. Everytime you get a large deposit, they hold it and tell you. Youve never had that large of a deposit before, so they can make money, look this up, its a common practice with banks. My card has been locked dozens of times, every single one was on a valid transaction, verified by me. Someone emptied my account, yet somehow they did not catch that tho. it took almost a month to get my money back and they refused to provide me with any deatails about the fraud.

We went with this bank, when buying our new home. The whole process was a train wreck. We were not kept informed throughout the process. I would ask questions that would go unanswered. The closing date was constantly changing without our knowledge. When we finally closed, paperwork wasn t filed correctly. Honestly I wouldn t recommend using them for any of your banking needs.

Have been working with MAC to finance a vehicle. Have been working on this so long I ve had to have 2 different pre approvals due to one expiring because I was having an issue finding the right vehicle. I FINALLY found a vehicle Saturday morning. I spoke with MAC 2 separate times this passed Saturday making sure I had EVERYTHING I needed. Got to MAC only to find out I suddenly needed 6 pay stubs instead of 3. The only thing the loan officer said was yeah I m not sure how they calculated with 3 pay stubs. So after 20+ communications with the bank over 2 months time, I took off of work for the morning and so did the seller of the vehicle for our time to be wasted by something as simply as no one taking enough time on the MULTIPLE occasions we have spoke to say it looks like we only have 3 pay stubs, we will need at least 6. Not to mention during my last phone call with them Saturday I said I am hoping to come in Monday morning to finalize. Is there anything else I need? I have to be honest, it s pretty easy to simply look at the screen over the course of a month and say Hey it looks like we only have 3 paystubs for some reason, we re going to need 6. The loan officer was able to tell me this within 5 minutes of sitting across from me. That should have been possible by phone. How disappointing.

I have been a member of MAC FCU since 2019. I went through this bank to get a loan for my truck. In 2023 my truck was supposed to paid off but unbeknownst to me the information that I talked to the Front of the house (Bank tellers & loan officers) was not being relayed to Back of the house (collections and solutions). Need less to say my payments were being raised and becoming past due although they were automated payments since Ive had the truck. Miss. Salai Boykins was I God sent with my case. She called and broke down everything to me. Step by step line by line, despite the ample amount of questions I had due to the confusion of the situation. She was patience and informative with me. She gave me every possible solution to my case and each outcome. I Respect the fact that she was honest with me that way I wasnt surprised by anything else. Salai and the team that she works with really put thier best foot forward in costumer service and solution corrections. With that being said Her and her team get 5 starts from me, the reason that left four stars is because the front of the house dropped the ball in many areas but its nice to know MAC FCU has employees dedicated tk help fix the confusion. P.S, if you are looking to be a future member, make sure whoever you talk to whenever you talk to them that they make notes in your file on the 5Ws that way its documented. Thank you

IF YOU ARE A SOLDIER, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. This bank will run a scam on you and steal money from your account, then notify you that you missed your payment. They exploited me for $6000, while I was deployed. They also tried to run an insurance scam claiming I never told them when I changed insurance and tried to repo my truck due to the accumulated charged for their ridiculously priced insurance. My insurance agent ripped them a new one and they returned my truck. Out of revenge, they then sent collections after me claiming I owed $1500 after the end of my contract. Two separate collections agents reviewed their falsified documents(no account records, just a random spreadsheet someone fabricsted) against my bank records and came to the same conclusion, that I did not owe them anything more. When they each confronted the bank, the bank refused to communicate and terminated the collections contract. They then punished me for exposing those lies by charging off the erroneous amount. Here we are, 7 years later and my truck was totaled due to someone hitting me and they are holding my title ransom, preventing me from settling the matter and leaving me, a single mother veteran, without a vehicle. This is an evil and despicable business and its amazing how they havent been shut down at this point given all the other reviews here, testifying to the same kind of treatment. I should have listened to my senior NCOs at Wainwright when they warned me that this would happen after they had seen it happen to other soldiers in just our battalion. But I made the mistake of thinking itd never happen to me. Dont make that same mistake. Find literally any other bank for your banking needs.

I ve been a member of MAC FCU for years. I ve worked with them on 3 auto loans, 1 Motorcyle and 1 Sea Doo. They always always always offer me the very best rates compared to anyone else. This credit union goes above and beyond for their customers and it s worth the world that you don t just feel like another number to them. Lately on my last couple of loans I have worked with Kaolani, a finance officer who has been the very best representative I could ask for. Again, going above and beyond to lower my rates as my credit improved without me even asking for it. She is always extremely prompt responding to my emails and getting the job done. MAC is somehow an easier lender to work with than local ones when I am all the way in Texas. MAC FCU has forever earned my business and I can t thank them enough for how much they have helped me along the way on my financial journey.

There is always a huge line of people waiting to speak with a teller and there are never enough tellers. Customers will get to a teller and have 30 minutes worth of business to conduct and tie up the entire line while there are only one or two tellers working the line. There needs to be a faster process to handle member with quicker transactions such as simple withdrawals and deposits. The express window is a joke, it s routinely handling customers with long multifaceted transactions that are inherently not express as I write this, I have been standing in line far too long. Also the ATM at this branch does not accept deposits.

Cant wait to close my accounts. I have been banking here for four years and nothing ever seems to go smoothly. The online banking is absolutely horrible, I cant access my docs to get a statement for my tax return. I Was told to try disabling ad-block because other people have this problem. Still doesnt work. The online banking with MAC is an outdated miserable experience. Something simple to get done with other banks is something MAC will find a way to make difficult.

DO NOT FINANCE A VEHICLE WITH MAC FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, especially if you re in the military and plan on leaving the state eventually. When you pay your loan off they will send your title to you with the regular mail where it will 100% for sure get lost, and then they will claim that you are responsible for the $80+ fee to get a new title made.

f you live in Alaska, any bank you can find is better then this place, banked with them for years, and there Internet Banking is by far the worst i have ever seen, they use Netteller, with no way to control anything in your account unless you call them, so if anything ever happens like it has with me, where your card is locked due to fraud protection you better hope it doesnt happen on a friday night as you will be waiting until Monday morning to use it again. Managers i have spoke to are incredibly rude and obnoxious. Im not going to spend anymore time on them. But felt i should atleast spend enough time to warn others to STAY AWAY

I went to MAC FCU to obtain a new motorcycle loan in 2016 from the Harley Davidson dealer here in Fairbanks Ak. I did have to open an account with them to get the loan, so I put the minimum amount in to open an account. ($10 or $25 I can t remember) I also put in another $90 or so at some point, so I roughly had $100 in the savings account for no other reason than Geico sending me a $90 check during the whole Covid thing for no reason really. I didn t want to go back to the insanity of bank drive through lines, so I deposited it by taking a picture with my phone and sending it through the app. It worked flawlessly. Awesome 5/5 In the midst of the pandemic (May or June 2020) I paid the Harley off in full, and early by a year through the drive up window, due to the lobby being shut down. I was able to receive the title in hand about 45 minutes later ( I waited in the parking lot). Admittedly a bit long, but it was during spring COVID 2020, the drive through lines were long, and more than likely they weren t expecting it, so I can t complain. That was the last time I used their services. Awesome 5/5 The reason I dropped a star is because I just checked the app on my phone. My balance of $100 or so is gone due to inactivity. I have been charged with inactivity fees for the past year. $ 10 a month. I suppose I should have realized I was getting charged for inactivity fees, or checked the app. It s not my main bank, I didn t need the money, I figured it would sit there and collect the penny a month until I wanted to utilize MAC FCU more. I have been working full time, and going through a degree program at UAA full time for the past two years. I just graduated and wanted to deposit some cash into my savings account because I wanted to get a newer car loan through MAC FCU in the next year or so, that s when I noticed this morning my $100 was hemorrhaged from the account. A letter, email, or phone call would have been nice. Not so awesome 4/5

I have been with MAC for a while in terms of loans and I ve never had a complaint. However, I did have the best experience with Ausha Phillips recently. She did an outstanding job troubleshooting the new system MAC has and made sure we were completely taken care of. MAC helped me get started on my financial journey, but after being with them for awhile it is sincerely disappointing to see a lack of growth in important areas. It has been YEARS (literally) since their online statement service has been accessible. Their Bill-Pay system is archaic, and also rarely works online. The app service is very limited, and there is no 24/7 customer service. Rates are fantastic, but for a credit union that has been in the community for literally decades I would hope to see them be more competitive in any other way beyond their CD rates. Their lower level employees are crazy nice and honestly seem to feel bad about the inconvenience of their services, but it s clear there is a serious problem in their management.

A $10 fee for a replacement debit card is unacceptable. Taking my business elsewhere as this is a sign of a much bigger issue. I had two cards recently fail due to poor plastic quality, and was refused a free replacement, even at the cost of losing my business. I have sold card processing along with card fulfillment of EMV, dual contact, even titanium cards for many years for the largest debit processor in the US. If you are losing money on single contact EMV instant issuance at $5 then you have a MAJOR internal problem and need urgent consulting as well as a fulfillment expert on staff ASAP. PS you should waive any fulfillment charges if there are issues with plastic quality regardless of the replacement frequency rules you have decided on.

MAC credit union is outstanding!! This was my first time getting a loan for a vehicle and was approved for way more than I expected or even needed. I first bought one vehicle which was my daily driver. Soon after I spotted one of my dream cars and had to have it, and MAC made that possible. However that s not what prompted me to leave this review. It is the amazing customer care and service which is why I m writing this review. 3 years later after moving far from Alaska I decided to sell one of my vehicles (and in a very short window right before a deployment) MAC helped in every possible way to make this happen given the time constraints. And a major shout out to Ikram Ibrahim who I ve been fortunate to talk to on multiple occasions and has helped me with every last question . Even though I m no longer in Alaska I will be sticking with MAC for any future endeavors!

Horrible horrible customer service!!!!! Especially from a supervisor by the name of Kaloni. No help whatsoever. Lost my debit card and was told i will have to wait for three weeks for a new one. Not a shred of an attempt was made to see if something else could be done as i continually expressed the nuisance and inconvenience. No accommodations attempted for a member of close to twenty years. Is this what customer service has come to? My money in their bank but no effort to help a member of many years.

Worst Bank Ive ever delt with. Refused to cash an out of state TAX REFUND, wrote on that refund check then said sorry nothing we can do. I waited 5 months for that check and had to wait another month and a half for a new one. My husband has automatic payemts for his auto loan and every 2 weeks we have to call and pay and listen to their RUDE employees say no automatic payments were ever set up. But if you check the papers we signed yes infact we did. And the problem NEVER gets fixed. If you file a complaint it also goes NOWHERE. They take your money and charge you for late fees when there shouldnt be. I would NEVER in my life recommend this bank to absolutely anyone.

I have been a member with MAC since 1998. I have never had any issues with there services. Today, the Cushman branch provided poor customer service, to the point I considered leaving them altogether. This bank is almost impossible to deal with if you no longer live in Alaska. I was trying to apply for the skip-a-month option for a loan that I have through them due to the fact that I am quarantined because a family member may have COVID. They told me I am not eligible because I am no money in my account. The reason I have no money in my account is because the previous month I was double charged and in order to fix this mistake they charged me a 20 dollar transfer fee (just for me to get my money back that was mine in the first place) The suggested I come in to the branch and add money to my account. I told them I no longer live in alaska. They told me to go to a banch that offers shared branching. The closest one is 2 hours away. I asked them what I should do. They said, I dont know

The laziest bank I have worked with and with the worst customer service. Do not get an auto loan with them. The effort they put into making sure that they register your vehicle and work with other loan/insurance/credit companies is well below sub-par. Dealing with my total loss has been a headache to say the least. The fact that it has taken a total loss for a real push to get my title is surprising. I m not looking forward to seeing how they handle the GAP insurance portion of the process

The people at mac have been ,and continue to help me rebuild my life for the last 23 months. If you ever heard their add when your on hold,. That was my life. Got diagnosed with cancer, couldnt work, got a divorce and lost my home and new car then I Buried my son ,That and more in 5 months. My whole life gone and credit went from 700+to a 302. Was all bad. I went to the ladys at the 10th ave branch and they have helped me get my life back on track. And continue to work with me through all sorts off obstacles. Ive seen alot of bad reviews and have heard some from people. But I have had nothing but great service, from knowledgeable friendly and extremely patient women. Very professional and I wont do buisness with another bank. Even my dog likes going there because they always have treats.

I was on the receiving end of a purchase. I sold my motorcycle to someone who financed a bike. They just gave me the check didnt communicate with me sent me on my way. I realized that i didnt have a bill of sale went back and the little man at the counter was no help. I finally made the guy get the bottom of the title so that i could report the motorcycle was being sold to the dmv. The little man at the counter didnt have a problem interrupting my meeting when i met with the banker to receive my check however he had an issue interrupting the fat banker who had me sign my title away. They said they do not do bill of sale for these kinds of purchases and wouldnt accommodate me as the seller.

If I could give zero stars I would MAC is difficult to with I made my final car payment with them and next you know I get a notification from my Wells Fargo bank saying my account has overdrawn. I pull up my account and MAC took out my final payment of $187 out not once but twice messing up my account. I call them and they either kept transferring me or putting me on hold. In fact they still havent called me back I do not recommend MAC one bit they still owe me a refund.

this is a great bank, BUT they fell out of complete favor with me after they closed my account of 13 years without warning. my checking was overdrawn by $12 for about 20 days! a letter or phone call would have been much appreciated if it were that serious. I felt a little embarrassed because I didnt have all the paper work I needed in hand but Katie was extremely helpful and welcoming. She was very understanding and helped me with my situation opening an account, getting a car financed and even helped getting information on insurance. She definitely made the process easier. The receptionist at the time was also helpful and she didnt hesitate on helping me retrieve some paper work from the dealer. I greatly appreciate the professionalism and I will be going back when I need anything else!

I am pleased with my loan experience, and usually encounter good customer service when I have to go into the branch. As for the dispute department could use training! I completed a dispute form, handed it to a teller at the branch on 10th Ave. About a week later I called to follow up, they have no record of it, so they ask me to stop by and all I m supposed to do is sign the sheet, I end up going over the whole paper with a manager, I might as well have filled it out myself. So another week goes by and I hear from Hailey regarding my dispute, she approves it and tells me as long as the company doesn t have anything I signed to prove otherwise I m good. Mind you I incurred a few fees because of the company I was disputing. So fast forward a month later, I receive a call from Felicia telling me my account is overdrawn because she reversed the dispute. Wait what! I ask why she doesn t answer my question, she starts asking me questions. I am explaining to her what happened and she just starts talking over me, when she is finished I let her know if she lets me speak I will tell her what happened, I end up hanging up after a long silence. So I call Jerenda the manager of the call center, I explain to her what happened and want to know why the reversal a month later! She says she will look into it and call me the next day as it is almost the end of the work day, okay. Next day comes and no call, so I call her the day after that and she proceeds to speak over me and speak condescendingly to me (now I know where her employees get it from), I hang up as this is awful customer service! I m now incurring more fees, I guess this is how they make their money.

I just switched my personal and business Banking needs over to MAC this week. The entire staff was very helpful. I dealt with Katie Howell personally and she went above and beyond my expectations. She answered all my questions, got everything set up, and never tried to push any other services or loans on me. MAC is by far the best when it comes to banking. They explained everything we had questions on, with no hesitations or gimmicks. This establishment gave my wife and I when a chance to build our credit by offering us loan options with simplistic terms when all of the other banks barely took the time to skim our application. Loan officer not even there works with you. When you call they do the best to answer questions. Only thing is wait times. They can be very long so have a free day if needing to open a loan. Their quick with payments though - I was in and out.

Mac is a fantastic bank if you really like have random fees pulled out of your account for no reason. The amount of times I have been charged overdraft fees while my account is still positive or been double charged to send my account into the negative is downright criminal.

This place is the most unprofessional bank I have ever gone through. Their app is almost always showing an incorrect amount in my accounts, and they dont stop transactions after there is no money in your account. They simply tack on a $20 fee for each transaction that they allowed when they cant even keep their mobile banking app updated. In summation, they are crooks. Ill be finding a new bank this weekend. I hope tgis place gets flagged by the FBI

Literally the worst, they aren t prepared, never get the title when they were supposed to, messed up my address for my bill for loan, and lost my insurance policy and instead of notifying me, they decided to add CPI insurance to my loan making it 3k more which money wasted paying on loan because it didn t even go towards the car... if I could give this place -5 stars I would.

Wanted to skip a payment on my loan to fix a windshield on my truck. I was told it wasnt an emergency, so my request was not approved. I guess unexpected vehicle repairs so a vehicle can be driven is not considered an emergency to this bank. I cannot wait till my loan is paid of with this bank.

Ive used MAC on & off since 2007 when I got my 1st new car loan from them. I had just repaired my credit at that time & they were the ONLY institution who would consider me. I ended up paying that car off in full 3yrs later and now I have another vehicle financed through MAC as well as a credit card. In the past when I needed a small short term personal loan, they didnt hesitate to accommodate me. There have been times where Ive struggled financially and they have always worked with me whether it was letting me skip a payment or offering me alternative solutions. I find them to be friendly and helpful. When I first started using MAC it was because I didnt have a choice & after 10yrs of great service, I wouldnt choose any other institution!

I would not recommend getting an auto loan with MAC. After my car was totalled in December, I was told by MAC that there was nothing I needed to do after skipping a payment and waiting for insurance to pay. After 2 months passed I received a call from MAC saying they were reporting my car 45 days past due if I didnt pay the car payment. I was not made aware that I would have to make another payment on the car after submitting the total loss paperwork. The insurance took a little longer to send the check to MAC which put my car at over 60 days past due. After the payment was received, MAC told me they had to submit paperwork for my GAP insurance. That put my car at 90 days past due. At This point I thought the car was done and over with until a collections call came in saying I owe a 500 payment to MAC which is for a deductible that my insurance paid to MAC. MAC and GAP insurance claimed they do not protect deductibles even though my insurance paid it. They instead subtracted from the payout and left it on my loan without notifying me. Now I owe $500 that is 110 days past due, in collections, while MAC collects interest. I asked when I paid if I could work with them to remove the credit report considering I paid my car on time for 2 and a half years with them before the accident and they said they would not. Terrible customer service. They were rude on the phone when I called each time to verify everything was taken care of. Thanks for the help MAC

The absolute worst financial institution that Ive ever done business with. I had to leave town on short notice, and the only bank card that I had with me was my MAC credit card. When I attempted to get gas, 300 miles away from home, MAC had LOCKED my credit card because I was ONE DAY late on the payment. Had I been in town, I probably would have come in and made a payment! I called MAC in a panic because I have no other way to get gas to come home, and they tell me that NO exceptions will be made for me, and thats their policy. Mind you, my account has never been in poor standing. They had no compassion or willingness to resolve this issue. When I told the woman that I will be paying off my balance and removing my business, if I ever find a way to make it home, she said Okay. I have never been treated so poorly by a financial institution, and Ive never heard of any kind of policy like that anywhere else. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

If I could give zero stars I would. First time customer to this bank so I came in at 5:30pm they did not want to help me finalize my loan because they obviously have to get off right at 6:00pm. I tried talking to the lady in front whom was very rude and just gave me the go around cause she was too busy and if I got helped they would get off late very bad experience... horrible staff. very unpleasant visit.

HORRIFIC Fees! I have never been feed so much in my life! Youd think screwing people out of that much money the customer service would be quality. But its not, they have a policy of these fees and being unable to assist with them. I hear they used to be a reputable establishment who dealt fairly with their customers. Those days are GONE! If you can afford several hundred in fees over 4 days, by all means, bank with them. Otherwise, I would recommend looking into other local banking establishments who actually value your patronage and will fairly listen to you and address your concerns -- they do exist. Dont settle when you do have other options!
